Please help, I think I bricked my Incredible and would appreciate any help or suggestions. I used unrevoked3 to root and flash the cynogenmod 6 nightly rom and then the google apps. Today i downloaded v3.1 of unrevoked to update my phone to a newer rom. I downloaded and installed the drivers but when I went to use unrevoked it would just reboot my phone and get stuck on the message "flashing recovery, do not touch phone" and never change, but my phone was just rebooted and working normal. So in the process of trouble shooting the problem I did a hard reset on the phone to see if it would help using a fresh clean rom. But when I went to reboot the phone, it got stuck in a boot loop. So now, my phone wont turn on all the way and I cant get to the recovery screen using unrevoked to utilize my nand backup that I had made. any help would be very appreciated!

Have you tried this?
While the phone is turned OFF, press and hold the VOL DOWN key and then press and hold the POWER button... (So, you should have VOL DOWN + POWER BUTTON held down) and wait until it boots into HBOOT.
In HBOOT, you should have 4 options: FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, CLEAR STORAGE, SIMLOCK.

You do realize that you don't use unrevoked to flash ROMs, right? For that, you either boot into CWM Recovery or use ROM Manager.
Yea, but nothing in the hboot menu seems to do anything useful. I just end up back into the reboot loop. Unless you know any tricks in that menu?

Yea, download the ruu, extract the rom.zip from it, rename to PB31IMG.zip and toss on sd card. Your phone will go back to it's factory shipped state.
This thread will help you extract the zip file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695825&highlight=rom.zip

the unrevoked tool is only to establish root and INSTALL the recovery, not to actually run it for you. to get into recovery you just turn the phone off, then hold volume down + power until it gets to the bootloader, then you just press volume down to highlight recovery and press power to select it. this brings up the recovery. (or download Quick Boot from the market which can automatically reboot your phone in recovery for you.)

Best trick I know of is this awesome hackers megamart called Walmart which will sell you a excellent hacking device capable of reading sd cards from your pc... I think they call it a sd card reader...
sorry for a little sarcasm, I couldn't resist.

/sigh. when the phone is off, you hold volume down + power and it opens the bootloader screen. the options are:
1)fastboot
2)recovery
other options...
by default, fastboot is highlighted. therefore, if you press volume down once, it highlights the recovery option. pressing power after that selects it. this will open up the recovery.

yes, this would be your last resort if for some reason the recovery doesnt run. this way you can put the pb31img.zip onto your sd card so that when you get into the bootloader it will automatically find the zip and begin running on its own.

Wow Shadowmite, he set it self up for that one (LOL)
Yeah, you simply need a SD card or microSD card reader--Walmart, Best Buy, your local corner store probably have 'em.
If you decide to get a SD card reader, make sure you have the microSD to SD card adapter (usually comes with the purchase of a microSD card).

got it. then your only option is to either get an micro sd card reader or borrow a friends phone that has a microsd slot so you can somehow get your sd card connected to your pc to put the pb31img on it, then put the card back in your phone and get into the bootloader. from there the phone will walk you through it. then, only run the unrevoked tool ONCE.

Lol no problem. I had an idea tho, I think I might be able to use the sd card slot on my eris to download the file onto the Inc sd. Is there any foreseeable issues with that? Just trying to be careful

nah. just put the file on the root of the card, put it back in your incredible and boot into the bootloader.
Pull battery then put it back in
Hold volume down and power till it boots.
Hit volume down to highlight recovery
Hit power
Hook your phone up to your pc
On phone go to ( partitions ) with optical mouse
Press mouse (enter)
Go to the bottom and mount USBsdcard
On computer copy the .zip you need on the card.
Unmount card on phone
Then reboot in recovery and apply the file by selecting yes.
Hope this helps.

I tried that pyramid rom, and since it doesn't boot, I was gonna try to do virtuous, Well I put that image to update the radio, and forgot that I can't get into android to take the image off, and when I need to go into recovery, it tries reading the image, and when I say no to update again, it wants to reboot. How does one get around this?
EDIT: had a smart idea and removed the SD card. all is good now.

In the future when it asks to reboot after saying no to install the image you can press down arrow key and you can go into recovery or reboot into rom
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
or in the future...turn off your phone, plug into usb on computer, run command line (assuming you have adb) and just type "adb reboot recovery".
it works even when the phone is off...
If I am understanding you right you have the PG32IMG.zip for the Radio update on the root of your SD card now you cant get into recovery cause it wants to update your radio every time you start the boot loader (Power + Vol dwn)?
am I right?
The way I work around this is to pull the SD card while the boot loader checks for update files.
once you have the ability to go into recovery (You can select recovery) push your SD back in and start recovery!
Then when you get the chance via USB Mass storage or with a file explorer on your DInc2 erase the PG32IMG.zip so you don't have this problem again.
If I helped take a second to thank me!?
Edit: DOH!

I think you dont have to erase the PG32IMG.zip just rename to pPG32IMG and if you need to use that in the future just remove the first p and you are good to go.
Hello all.
I know this has been asked a gazillion of times, but the solutions I can find, are not working for me.
I rooted my phones yesterday, for the first time and all went great. I got reverse tether to work etc etc.
I installed a few apps, and they all worked.
Then i installed Xposed framework, and it got me into a bootloop.
I tried flashing the recovery_original_flashable.img from another thread and this went perfect, but it still is in the bootloop. I can get into recovery, but it does nothing. It just lets me wipe cache and or do a factory reset and those both have no effect whatsoever.
I know I might be doing something wrong, can anyone help me?
And sorry if I am just forgetting one step in all of this.
Thanks in advance
pmbMixx
EDIT:
I got the stock rom ready, yet, I cannot exit my SD card to copy the update.app file. This is due to a drop a year back, it is bend at the sd card slot and when I use a little needle to make it come up it tries to push the whole sidepanel off, I tried connecting to fastboot and using ADB push command to drop the file there, but it does not see my device.
How to move on?

Since you cant remove the sdcard and you are on stock recovery i would first suggest that you flash twrp recovery in order to get to the sdcard. Once you can boot to twrp you can mount the storage on your computer and from there copy the update.app file you need to install a fresh copy of the system. When thats done you can flash back the stock recovery and update normaly.

Got it on there now,
Flashed the stock recovery back
Reboot into recovery->Error -> E:failed to mount.
What now? Thanks for the help in advance!
Edit:
Ok, I have gotten it to mount at least one time, but it will not run the UPDATE.APP, not with booting with VOL - and + pressed, not with VOL+ pressed nor with VOL - pressed.
I can enter the SD card, but after going in into the folders and going back it disconnects the SD card and it is failed to mount again.

So you are on the stock recovery with the update.app file place in a dload folder in your sdcard and it cant start the update process?

Correct.
I went on trying some things, and it would not update back to the stock rom. I tried flashing TWDR (right?) and that worked, and after that I tried flasing the Cyanogen mod rom, and its working again. Although I must say, its buggy as frack.
for example: Camera wont show, it opens app but then keeps showing homescreen with a gray overlay, and when pressing the power button, it wont ever show me a menu to restart or shutdown etc.
Anyone using a rom on the P6 that does not have this problem?
Summary: I can flash custom roms, I cant flash stock roms for some reason...
I rooted my phone. But accidentally deleted my OS. Before flashing with a new ROM, i wiped off the cache/system/Dalvik cache.
When i tried flashing my device, i got some failure. So, i tried to reboot my device.
But, now i am not able to get into bootloader mode. The device is stuck at home screen with HTC logo and is unresponsive. Nor the power button is working to shut it off. I have to wait to get the battery drained.
Also, Vol Dwn+Power is not working to move it to Fastboot mode, so dat i can recover with my TWRP backup.
Also, i have seen that when the device is powered off, i can access the storage using USB, but can't access it when it is powered ON.
I thought of trying flashing RUU but for that i guess i need USB access to device while it is powered ON.
Please suggest me how to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance

Hi Guys,
I sorted out the issue. Thanks to various information available which i need to put in together to fix.
FIrst of all, the good thing is that i had the TWRP recovery.
I was able to move into Fastboot mode once the device is switched off.
Steps i followed::
1) Place the TWRP backup in the sd card in the proper directory structure.
TWRP -> BACKUPS-> [phone's serial number] -> ROMName
2) Volume up+power button to shut it off.
3) Volume Down+power button to move to Fastboot mode.
4) Select Recovery. You will be moved to TWRP manager.
5) Select Restore there and select the proper recovery folder which u had copied in the sd card.
6) You are done!! BINGO
For those who don't have TWRP backup, they can flash it with a proper ROM available by simply placing the ROM zip in the sd card, wipe the cache from TWRP manager. Select Install from TWRP manager and select the ROM zip and you are done flashing with the new ROM.
