[Q] Menu look

hey there
I got a questoin cause of the menu where all of the apps are displayed.
maybe as you know with the galaxy s you can switch the apps between 5-6 sites around.
what can i do that this is possible with the desire too?

what do you mean with "custom rom or stock" ? :/ i am a newbie sry :s

when rooted you can either flash a custom rom or stay with the rooted stock rom that you had since you got the phone.. search!!

i want to stay with htc sense... i just want to change the app menu....

how can you not find the development section?! the lazyness is just unbelieveable these days!

I you want the SGS theme then go for Open Desire or LeeDroid..

seriously you really need to reed up before you try rooting or flashing, if you dont even know what a custom rom is your guna end up with a very expensive paper weight

[Q] completely new @ this

im completely new @ this android rooting thing............first of all i have a SGS2 from tmobile..... i rooted my device following a video i saw on youtube...in the description said somthing about this site so i went to the market and purchase and app called xda premium....ok so far so good......i dont know what to do with my device....dont know how to install themes( this why i root) the only thing i got to make was the wireless tether.......... other things like games,performance,al that stuff ,i cant make anything i made a clockwork mod or something like that because i thought of it as a mod for my clock LOL im new at this so please can somebody help me out?

lol no. Clockworkmod is not a mod for your clock.

it will start you up. Make sure that you follow each step CAREFULLY.
What you want to do with your phone to get you started is this..
- install clockworkmod recovery (This will be your safety net from bad flashing(uploading new roms))
- root your phone.
- start flashing! (WARNING: now, be careful not to flash any rom other than the T-Mobile t989 model or AT&T skyrocket model roms. If you flash any other roms besides these, you will brick your phone (say bye bye! to your phone).

dude not to be a **** but i wouldnt even do anything until you read up some more on how this rooting and installing custom roms **** works. especially if u thought cwm was a clock mod lmao. its all good tho bro just read up on everything u can and make sure u flash the right roms and mods to your phone. sgh t-989. and if you need any kind of help dont hesitate to pm me even if it is a stupid question. i want to see u try though, u get respect that way

i just want to install themes and free games and all that my phone is already rooted..... i have metamorph i believe its for themes right?

Being rooted does not mean you can start down downloading free games.

please make sure you read everything on stickies....and if you interested in doing some flash roms or kernels.....read all pages on that the thread....your future questions already anwsered...if you don't you will get flamed or redirected to use search...but don't give up to be part of this community...there are alot of helpful members so they will help you when they have time.

Being rooted does NOT mean you can download free apps, games, etc. there are free apps on the market. We are here to help but not provide free paid apps. This isnt like an iPhone with cydia dude. main purpose of rooting is to customize your phone any way you want. I would also recommend reading the noob guide. Read alot. Donr want this to be an expensive brick for ya.

Ok my friend,ive had iphone all my life now im stucked with this rooting thing but ok it seems that i have to read a lot, btw i have a problem with my wireless tether app it wont work, the first time did work tho! But know im having an error! So if u can give a name of a good free app ill.really apreciate it! Thanks a lot for your info man!

I've been learning too. Best advice is search.....I have found the answers to all my questions here in the last number of months searching.
Short answer is the rom is basically the software that your phone runs when you boot it up. All your apps and settings....they are built into the rom. So, if you decide to root the phone, you have the option to install custom ones, not made by samsung or your carrier. I'm currently using the Jedi X6 rom, and its awesome IMHO.
And I took the easy way and grabbed the galaxy note 2 toolkit to initially root the device.
But there's guides and all that to help you.....just read before you just try doing anything.

Best advice: Don't do it.
Enjoy what you've got for at least a year. Then root.

and most importantly, keep your phone safe, that screen is what makes the phone worth its name and price. Get something to protect the whole phone. I bought mine 3 months ago, and i am babying it like a MOFU.

Hi,
A rom is just a customized firmware, that u flash to the phone. But if u don't know what a rom is, I would just stay on a stock rom, as it's the most stable.
Enjoy your new toy (i am already waiting for the galaxy s4 )

If you believe you want a really safe way to root and a rom that doesn't "destroy" anything..... 4 words
YOU DONT NEED ROOT!
