Hey everyone. This is my second android phone and its been a very long while since my first android.
My question is I'm trying to use my own wallpaper for home screen but it forces me to select one thats enough for 5 panes. Unfortunately I want a single image for all panes and don't care for the large image scrolling they have. Is there any way to use a single wallpaper for all my home screens?
I'm very new to android all over again with ICS, so any help would be great.

Only way to do it is to create a wallpaper in full resolution and put five seperate pictures on it...

You'd have to use a different launcher, as currently a fixed-position wallpaper isn't an option for the stock launcher. You could try LauncherPro, which allows you to disable wallpaper scrolling, but it hasn't been updated in a long time, and while I haven't seen any issues with my very limited testing, it hasn't been designed with 4.0 in mind.
check out multi live wallpaper. You will love it!

Ive been using this app auto resize wallpaper on 3 phones you just go to your gallery find the pic hit the share icon select auto resize wallpaper it looks like a female ninja lol and it resizes it for you. It sometimes makes the pics go on all the screens usually when the original looks like a landscape style pic but mostly it makes the pics fit on one screen so when you go through the 5 screens its on one and doesnt move.
I found a few hiccups but mainly it works great. No need to ever try to open it. It works right from the share link above the picutre your viewing in your gallery. If for some reason it makes it too big just go back into gallery and redo the process. I love it beats the hell out of cropping.

I have a lag issue with my device and its starting to drive me crazy. Lol.. But anyway when I'm using the touchwiz launcher and drop down the notification drawer while on the home screen the animation is really choppy and laggy. But as soon as I open an app like gmail or even settings menu the choppiness is gone. The home screen lag will go away if I use another launcher as well like launcher pro or go launcher. But I prefer the twlauncher.
Another strange thing is the twlauncher has no home screen lag when using cm7 so I know the device is capable. Just was wondering if anyone else has this issue or found a way around it, thanks!
Just wanted to note that this didn't occur on my epic touch 4g

Just root the device and flash a rom, I think Samsung didn't spend enough time optimizing the Snapdragon with the Touchwiz skin.
This is probably going to be a really obvious question that is right in front of my face, but I just don't see it!
I have a Galaxy Nexus (CDMA), running LiquidSmooth, and yesterday I realized that the bottom row of my home screens (above the row of icons that has a name that is escaping me) is gone. Widgets that used to have something under them now stretch to the bottom. For example, on one homescreen I had the Audio Manager widget on top, then the Friendcaster widget, then some system icons (Settings, Astro, Rom Toolbox, etc.) under that. Now the two widgets are the only things on the screen, with no extra space for icons under them.
It's like I managed to resize the resolution or something. I don't know when it started, or what I might have done prior to it. I thought I was going crazy when I first noticed it, because it isn't a problem I've ever had before. I'm probably going to flash a new rom tonight, and see if that solves it, but does anyone have a clue what might have happened?
Thanks in advance!
screenshots please.
In your launcher what is your grid size?
I'm sure it is possible to change the grid size in Apex Launcher, but I'm not having any luck finding it. Might be paid version only, but I'm still looking.
Argh, can't post the screenshots until I have more posts. The annoyance of being a lurker sometimes. :/

Been lurking for awhile so thanks for all of the great info to date.
I'm having problems with live wallpapers constantly crashing and having my background (home and lock) reset to the default feather image. I tried a search and could not find a related thread.
This is consistently happening with downloaded wallpapers Flurry Pro Live Wallpaper and Plasma Tree. Wallpaper crashes when in various applications and becomes apparent once returning to the home or lock screens. I suspected that my Handcent pop-up notifications were causing it and found a thread elsewhere that said to disable the "blur background" effect but this has not stopped the problem. Verrrry frustrating, any help?
Just me?
I haven't had any problems with stock as well as having a 3rd party one (galaxy amoled). Do you have the ripple effect enabled?
GNoteII
I've got the very same problem with my unrooted stock GN2.
It seems that LWP downloaded & installed directly from Play Store works,
while the ones I download to my '"SD card" from "other sources", & installed
from within my phone, doesn't. Sometimes they just won't start at all, sometimes
I can configure the LWP but it then revert back to the stock "feathers" background.
This is quite annoying, and I cannot seem to find any solution. So now we are two...

Ripple effect is disabled.
The live wallpapers crash whether I have it set as a wallpaper or lock screen / wallpaper.
It's bad enough that I have to reset the live wallpaper at least once a day and now no longer bother.
Anyone else using this with handcent popup notifications?

Ding ding ding that's it but mine happen despite where the wallpapers came from (all downloaded directly onto phone).
Wanted to bump it up and see if anyone has been able to solve this.
As we all know that the 4.2.2 update made our phone as fast as the 4.1.2. But it has a bug, at least for Maguro (not happening on my N7). Do you ever get a laggy scrolling on homesceen, when entering app drawer and scrolling in recent apps? I believe everyone has it. But only few people notice it. I have tried all 4.2.2 ROMs. AOSPA, AOKP, PAC, etc and all of them has this bug (I have done a clean flashing). And I have tried all launchers, Nova, Apex, Holo, Action Launcher, Stock, but the lag is still back!
The (systemUI) lag has to do with rendering (static) wallpapers. This can be solved by:
1. Setting a live wallpaper
2. Temporarily, by pressing the app switcher button, rotating the screen and pressing the back button
3. Disabling system autorotate
4. Making the launcher (instead of systemUI) handle the rendering of wallpapers. In Nova launcher, use the 'force scrolling' option, in Trebuchet (CM) use the 'wallpaper quick render' option
5.. Using an app to set static wallpapers as if it were a live wallpaper
Also, emptying cache for all user and system apps using Titanium Backup seems to affect the issue positively. Please note that this might result in some settings being set to stock (like the keyboard, snooze duration and some other minor things).
Well, this is only for temporarily solution for those of you that getting sick of this bug. Waiting for the fix from Google.
Thanks to Butter Smooth for summarizing
Tiny Kernel and Crossbreeder Mod = No lag for me.

AW: Solution for laggy homescreen and systemUI in 4.2.2 update
I've noticed the choppy transitions in 4.2.2. too and I'm glad I'm not the only one
Another finding is that changing the wallpaper makes the transitions smooth again. But the choppiness returns after a while. I'll try your tip tomorrow and report...

So, report it.
using xperia z live wallpaper with water ripple and it's free
I have notice this as well. Static wallpapers cause app drawer lag for me and when I use phase beam its lag free! Weird considering live wallpapers usually slow down the system..

To me 4.2.2 seems the most stable version so far, it's very much consistent, and scrolling in the recent apps menu gets laggy after I scroll a certain amount, and ofc when removing the process it lags, but this was present in 4.2.1 as well, i would have to say that as far as performance say, it's much more consistent than previous versions,
Static wallpaper or live, i see no difference

im using latest pa (4.2.2) with apex launcher with a few widgets and have no lag whatsoever. i use a solid black color as backround.

There's actually a lot of truth to the live wallpaper trick. Back on the Photon forums, we would use this technique to smoothen out the UI on our ICS and JB releases since we did not have a proper kernel and drivers, thus terrible onscreen performance. But this fix has existed since ICS! And it works!
Regarding the live wallpaper being smooth. It might have something to do with scrolling wallpapers too. How is everyone's feelings on a static, non scrollable wallpaper? Or is that what we are talking about?
I've had the choppyness too.
I am now using plasma beam and will report back. I also am going to try it on my nexus 10.
I'm telling you guys, try out the combo I posted in post 2. It really removes lag.

i use it like that(single homescreen no scroll)and i noticed the same lagging issue after a while
but i think it has to do with how you set the wallpaper, when i used zedge or image2wallpaper to set them the issue stated on the OP appeared
but if i use the stock gallery to set them and the problem is mostly gone
something else ive noticed is that the status bar lag only happens when on the launcher screen, open any app and pull the SB and its smooth, go back to the homescreen and pull it,its choppy
EDIT
still happens even after using the stock gallery

Using plasma live wallpaper. So far so good.

I've noticed the same problem with 4.2.2 ever since it came out. I usually use Phase Beam so I never noticed it. Only when I switched to a static wallpaper (one of the stock ones) for a day did I notice that the transitions into and out of app drawer and scrolling through home screens gets choppy. I never did find a way to reproduce it reliably, but I do know that if you use it long enough it will start to happen.
Immediately fixes itself by setting to any Live Wallpaper as OP had suggested.
Problem only started to occur with 4.2.2. Never had it happen in 4.2.1 or 4.1.x.

Then try to swipe on lockscreen between widgets if you have some. You will notice that the lag is still there, but atleast its a better deal to have it on lockscreen then on homescreen.

I don't know man. I'm either lucky or just not as picky but I don't even notice lag there. I have a few screens of widgets on my lock screen too.
Set a static wallpaper, go back to home screen or lock your device. Then, swipe down the notification bar and notice how choppy it appears.
Now, go inside an application, like Calculator - swipe down the notification bar and notice how smooth it is.
