Hi there! I have very unusuall problem with my SGW. I've realised that volume output drastically decreased. I've checked different roms, used different pairs of earphones etc. but the problem hasn't gone. And my friend also stated the same thought about my phone. I wonder what my be the problem. Help would be very appreciated.
Greetings, Rad.
Could anyone actually help me please?
Sometimes the quality of the file you're playing affects the volume output. I dont have any issues until I downloaded a music file, played it and with volume maxed, its still plays with low volume. I realized it has poor quality audio.
You can try this though http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674343. Hope it helps.

I swear before I ever rooted, my phone was much louder, am I just quickly loosing my hearing? or am I not the only one who has experienced an across the board loss of speaker loudness?
(*I HAVE applied the pandora streaming quality fix*)
and it did help considerably, but its just not as loud with any application! streaming or not.
what can I do.

Rooting by itself wouldn't have any effect on sound quality or volume. If you are using a custom ROM or kernel, it might though... and you didn't specify if that's the case or not.
However, your sig says your are on CM6. I haven't played with it myself, but there is supposed to be a DSP in the Audio settings now for CM6... perhaps when you installed the build it enabled the DSP and set everything low?
Has anyone gotten DSP to work on ICS roms? I'm flashing the CM9 DSP Manager, and it installs fine.
Opening the application up I'm able to select presets, turn on bass boost, etc, but the sounds effects to not activate (no change in sound). They say they're enabled, but they're not.
I've tried on ROMChicago, Darkside, BulletROM. I've tried on a handful of music players to verify they were not overriding the settings.
Please don't refer me to PlayerPro or a different app to improve my sound-- I've purchased them all and tried them all, to my ears, there's no better sound than with DSP Manager setup properly.
Thanks,
TL
Works find here with beats audio mod. Only works with stock music player.

Which rom are you using? I could not get this to work on the stock music player.

AOKP with beats mod for the SG2 and with working DSP from CM9. I searched and found them all. I use Power amp though. I wanted to see if I can make it work, and it does

So you can turn on a song, then open the DSP Manager UI, enable and disable bass boost, and noticeably hear the difference immediately?

DSP manager dynamic range
Hi,
I installed Darkside Evolution3 v7 ROM and I noticed that dynamic range really gives good results.:good:
When I turn it ON it works fine for a second or two and then the sound gets really messy.
When the volume is changed works again and in a second it switches back to a messy sound.
To listen I have to keep pressing volume buttons up and down.
have ay idea about this?
cheers.
This may sound dumb, but did you try adjusting the effects strength. I thought dsp wasn't working for me either, then I realize that it was set on slight. After I moved it to extreme the sounds are way louder.

Ya Ive tried that. when I turn it to the extreme the effect is different but the same revert issue comes within 1 second ov volume change.
But if I go up use max volume (15) it stays that way but the bass is too draggy.

I was just browsing through and found you're post. It's funny because I am having the very same issue with the Darkside Evolution3 v8 ROM. You did a wonderful job explaining the problem I was trying to put it in words but that's exactly what its doing. Turn the volume up it sounds great and then a second later you can hardly hear it. Some things I noticed, it only seems to happen with an audio jack headphones plugged in. I dont notice it with my car blue tooth. Also have you noticed a difference if you just turn off DSP mgr? I forced closed it and it was fine but as soon as I started that process again it had the same effect. It's quite annoying.

I tried force closing it and then the sound effect is totally gone and it sounds like stock player. The issue is only with the dynamic range filter.
if its turned off the issue doesn't come up. I was hoping to upgrade to v8 due to this issue and it seems that there is no luck in that as well.

Hey,
Found a solution to the dreadful issue. Install tasker and add a action which changes media volume
continuously one up and down will not effect your listening experience but will keep the effects alive.
hook the tasks up with a profile and you can make it automatic when the headset is plugged in.
I waisted whole day trying different versions of dspmanager.
Most of the files floating around just repackaged versions sometimes wrongly of basically 4 different builds.
I got 2 different packages... one is working fine with Pandora and everything else but GoogleMusic, the second is working with GM but not with Pandora... rest of the versions give either bad distorted sound or do not work at all.
I am on stock ICS. Which dsp you want?

Im on Dark side evolution v8 stock DSP manager. Beats mods are just the same as the DSP manager.
Hey guys,
I use my phone all the time in the car (connected via bluetooth) for playing podcasts, mp3's, youtube videos, streaming live tv, etc. - the problem is that the Audio level going into the car stereo is quite low. I almost always have to have it at full volume on both the phone and car radio and even then may times its still too low for my liking [and no, I'm not half deaf! ].
Does anyone know how I could increase the bluetooth audio output level from the S3 by say 50%?
Thanks!

Thanks for the tip - looks like PowerAmp might do the trick.
You're welcome

Is the radio stock or aftermarket? Cause most aftermarket head units have a volume offset setting and you can raise it up a good bit

Hello there,
I've lately experienced some trouble whilst listening to music. I'm using Poweramp music player on my LG P940.
It would work normally until at some point I wouldn't be able to hear anything although it says the music's still playing and the volume is at maximum. Turning up and down the volume, pausing and playing the music and unplugging and replugging the earphones would not help. Some minutes/hours/days later (different every time) it would work normal again. Has anyone ever had this problem before or has any idea how to solve it? (I know that this already is posted in a different thread but I ain't allowed yet to post something in there).

So, posting here was a last resort, but I've exhausted all my other options. I'll try to make this as concise as possible:
I just did a bluetooth/aux input retrofit for my car so I can stop using CDs for music. Aux sounds crystal clear, bluetooth with my 2nd generation iPod touch sounds crystal clear, bluetooth with my Optimus G Pro has static, crackling at certain frequencies. Doesn't sound compressed necessarily, just crackly.
What I've done:
1) Hard reset.
2) Tried both the original 4.1.2 and the new "value pack" update.
3) Actually sent my phone back to AT&T and got a refurbished one in the mail.
4) Sent my bluetooth retrofit unit back and got a new one in the mail.
5) Rooted the phone, installed freegee and twrp, and flashed the hkfriends kernel.
None of this fixed my issues. When playing the same exact song on my iPod and Android phone, the iPod wins every time.
P.S. My friend's Verizon phone (I think it's a Motorola Razr) has the same sound quality issues. Not sure of Android version, though.
Music is the absolute most important thing for me, and if I can't get this resolved I will have to switch back to Windows Phone/iPhone, despite how much I love Android. I have no knowledge or time to develop a new Rom for the G Pro and there's no telling when we'll get one that could fix my issues.
Is anyone else having these problems, or does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
For some reason my phone decided to play music using "Phone Audio". I disabled phone audio for the device in bluetooth setting, then it connected as an AV signal, and quality improved drastically.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just tried it, unfortunately did not seem to make any noticeable difference for me. To clarify, the sound quality is fine for the most part, it's just at certain frequencies I hear crackling.
By the way, earlier I also edited the audio.conf file under /system/etc/bluetooth and changed the values of "SBCSources=1" and "MPEG12Sources=0" to 0 and 1 respectively, which I read should force better quality out of bluetooth. Additionally I changed the value "Master=false" to true, which I also read could improve quality. It might be my mind playing tricks on me but it does seem to sound better, however I still hear the crackling at times, so I'm definitely not where I want to be.
Highly disappointing. Any other suggestions?
Which music player are you using on your phone? And have you tried any of the equalizer apps from the market?
Sent from my LG-E980 using xda premium
I've tried both the Music app that LG includes, and Google's Play Music app, which I prefer. No difference. Have not tried any equalizers, but not quite sure what that would do aside from eliminating the frequencies that have issues through bluetooth but work fine through an aux input? I don't consider butchering the music as an acceptable solution, unfortunately.
try this, it might help

Just out of curiosity - how did you find out editing the audio.conf file? I'm looking for a way to boost the output volume for my bluetooth, did a quick search and saw your post and it made me curious...
Will this change boost the output volume at all or is there a separate line or file to be edited?
Thanks for your help.
