Setcpu revert settings - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to revert setting made with setcpu on my htc desire. But i uninstalled app several times, even change rom, but frequencies are not default. I`m using RunnymedeROM. Is it possible that this ROM automaticaly comes with kernel that overclock CPU?
My question is: What do i have to do to revert CPU settings to default? If i have to do it manualy, what are min/max freq and governor by default?
Thanks in advance.

Yes there are times roms comes in with overclocked settings.
Default settings as far as I am aware are as follows:
Governor: Ondemand
Max Freq: 998MHz
Min Freq: 245MHz

I tried everything. Reinstalled several times, uninstalled too. Clear data but everythime my settings get back to 1113Mhz, and thats not default freq for htc desire. Is there some universal method to get back defult settings for htc desire?
Does reflashing or installing new ROM revert settings? Or maybe hard reset?

Check if it is default frequency range for that rom.

Im not certain but some roms have Daemon Controller app to set frequencies. And most roms I flashed with that app installed are usually overclocked. You may wanna check if your rom has it.

Yeah runnymede aio has daemon controller app and is set to 998mhz like u said and if u install setcpu in overides daemon so if u have the daemon controller app just change it to what u want and press apply then reboot and check to make sure the changes r the same.
(uninstall setcpu first)

[Q] Setvsel not working for MotoGinger 2.3.4

Hi all,
I tried to run setvsel on MotoGinger 2.3.4 but it just rebooted my phone, So i guessed the ko overclock module might be missing and installed the "milestone overclock" but I'm unable to load the module as the device name is MB526 and not MB525.
Did anybody try setting the vsel? will the setvsel work if we push the overclock module using adb?

I installed the 2ndInit and enabled overlocking there in its own menü.
I also enabled the modules there.
After that Setvsel worked perfectly without Milestoneoverlock.

Awesome.. It worked for me as well.. Thanks..
BTW.. Whats your vsel settings?
i am just experiencing with some undervoltage and thinking
over if i really need 1100MHz at all...
I usually dont play high graphic games, So I dont even need 1000 Mhz, I have set my vsel to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] I usually travel a lot so I need a big powersaving rom, Looks like motoGinger is quite good so far..
What's the effect, conflict or different between just enable overclock and its modules in 2nd-init than enable overclock in 2nd-init followed with running setvsel to perform the overclocking??
1) will the device get overclocking by just enable it in 2nd-init?
2) Or we must install setvsel to make it run overclock properly?

good question, Even I was just wondering, Which one gets the priority? is it the setvsel or the 2nd init?
My only guess is the control first goes to 2ndinit during bootup and after it comes to the idle screen and we see the msg from Su for setvsel it takes over the priority.
Correct me if I'm wrong..

1. Yes, the device is overclocked from 2nd-init if you enable that.
2. SetVsel is good for batery saving, with settings like limit to vsel1 while screen off, etc, so SetVsel is a "must have" on Defy.

Can you provide information on which version of 2ndInit you're using, and which modules you enabled? Thank you.
You can use the latest 2ndinit from the market, then in system --> overclock --> status choose enable, set vsel values (mine are : 22\300, 33\600, 56\1000, 66\1200 - same values in SetVsel), save and reboot. With this settings for me SetVsel works well, without random reboots and games like NFS runs smooth.
Just Enable overclock on bootmenu and load all modules then it will work
It worked! Thanks for your help everyone!

Finally got upgraded to CM7!

I've finally upgraded my phone to CM7 (Cyanogenmod). I went from Eclair to Froyo to CM7 within one evening.
I did a backup of all my apps and data etc before I upgraded.
All the Apps and Data still seems to be on the phones memory after upgrading so does that just mean I need to reinstall the applications because its essentially a new O/S?
Or would restoring the Titanium backup be the best option?
When I first got into the new CM7 I put in my google account details but chose not to sync until I had wifi back up and running. How do I now get that option back so I can sync and get all my contact details back etc?
Final question, how do I overclock the CM7 install to 1.1ghz for the cpu?
Cheers,
John
To turn on your sync settings go into settings and select accounts & sync. Click your Google account and in next screen check the boxes next to what you want sync'd.
For CPU setting select cyanogen settings and then performance. Click ok to the little warning and there you will be able to change CPU settings carefully!

Hello.
I did the sync thing but it didn't bring any contacts back unfortunately so I think unless part of the backup I did using titanium has got than info off the sdcard before I upgraded to CM7 I may have lost all my contacts?
In the Cyanogen Settings and Performance it doesn't allow me to select a higher cpu speed than 1000mhz? I wanted to take it to around 1100mhz.
I also wasn't sure how to change the cpu core speed in the boot menu?
Are there any good (and free) apps that could do this instead?
Thanks,
John
What phone do you have? The kernel your phone is using may not support overclocking over the stock speed.
Spoke too soon!
Two steps forward and one step back! Story of my life.
Tried doing the titanium back up of all my old apps from Eclair. Big Mistake.
First it didn't show any of these apps but for some reason they then all appeared in titanium.
I think the mistake was restoring the data as well as the actual apps, and I should have been selective.
It put the phone into what I can only describe as a unstable login crash loop where it kept requesting my pin to unlock sim over and over.
Had to wipe it and start again so now I am back on Froyo having flashed back to it. Needed to do this with RSD Lite becase recovery was not possible from the boot menu.
Now to go back to CM7 again and start the process over!
This time I know to just try restore on app at a time without the data to go with it. I will do one app, test, then "may" try the data for that app as well. I don't know for certain that it was the data but that is my best guess. It could have been the app in which case the titanium backup may not be as useful as first though at least going to CM7 because if you can't restore your apps and have to download them all again from market and reinstall on the new CM7 o/s what's th point of it? That's why I suspect its the data?
Will see.

I have the Defy. I am pretty sure it can get to 1.2ghz but at that speed its not stable. I have read replies saying that it is stable at a tiny fraction over 1.1 so I was going to try that speed.
Unfortunately using the cyanogenmod settings it wont allow you to take it higher than 1000mhz in there and An Tu Tu app I tried also doesn't allow it to go higher than 1000mhz, but it should be possible as other people have done it. I'm just not sure how or what app they used to go higher?

CPU Governor stuck?

Uhm.... I went to change my CPU governor today because I was noticing severe lag; it's stuck on interactiveX
I'm running MikG 3.xx, System tuner, rom toolbox, and a theme. When I try and change it in Tuner, it instantly reverts back to InteractiveX. When I do it in Toolbox, I can change it but it does not reflect in Tuner. I have uninstalled both, rebooted, wiped cache and dalvik, and reinstalled.... same issue.
Any fix?
This should be posted in q&a, not in dev section. Having said that I'd reflash the kernel then try again

Like fitz said, wrong thread.
However, are you checking the "Apply on Boot" button. Or whatever it says
I would also try re-flashing - and re-downloading - the kernel you are using.
Thread moved to Q&A....
Sorry guys was unaware I posted in Dev. I have not tried reflashing, but I got antutu cpu app and it confirms that I change it and it sticks in there, but still reflects InteractiveX in Tuner. Will try reflashing.... Should I clear D-cache and cache?

[Q] Governor and Scheduler return to default settings after reboot

Currently Im on ViperX 4.0.0 ROM and AlexV kernel 2.1. I tried to change my scheduler and governor from the default settings to Sio and Smartmax but after a reboot everything returns back to default settings. I went on to search for a permanent way to keep the settings that I want and downloaded Trickster Mod. I tried to change the settings in Trickster Mod and reboot my phone. It still revert back to default settings. Is there any way to keep my settings permanent?
On a side note, anyone uses the same ROM and kernel as me? Does certain shortcuts go missing on your screen? Somehow it happened for me.
have you tried enabling 'set on boot' in trickster mod? please say you have...

[Q] Setcpu Profile issues on xperia play

Hi guys, recently ive been playing about with roms and i decided to use the aurora play rom for a bit. I had lupusv12 kernel installed at this time with profiles installed. I flashed lupusv12.5 over v12 since they had the same partitions. I also installed auroraplay rom, it came built in with no frills cpu which i didnt like. The reason for that was because it kept inter-fearing with my profiles from setcpu (not letting em work). So i decided to use a file explorer and delete the no frills cpu app built into the rom. After that set cpu's profiles still were not working. So i changed back to stock, still with the lupusv12.5 kernel, and now the profiles (eg opening gta vice city OC to 1.6ghz) still wernt working, and when i went back to setcpu it would take a while to load then crash then i would have to reopen it again for it to work. Profiles still not working, what in the world is going on? The overclocks like moving the slider to 1.6ghz still overclocks but the profiles wont do it, Its annoying to have to keep opening setcpu then open the game, then close the game then open set cpu to return to normal, really annoying, can anyone help?

Have you already tried uninstalling the nofrills CPU app?
Deleting it on the system/app folder may affect some code that is causing an issue on your Setcpu app.
Removing the app on the root folder might not be enough to remove all the code link on the rom.
I suggest using titanium backup or any app that can uninstall a system app.

i should have said somthing sooner but i already fixed the problem, and i tried uninstalling it, and it failed, so thats why i deleted it. I fixed my issue by erasing the system/data then reflashing the stock rom and everything worked again, cheers for trying to help though. :good:
