[Q] "Restoring" Warranty - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys, it seems like the GPS on my device is broken.
It just won't fix, and on apps like GPS-Test there are no sattelites visible. I tried everything from Removing and Updating AGPS-Data, Turn AGPS off, Update Radios, Return to Stock 4.0.4 but it won't work, so I guess it's broken.
As I already mentioned I installed stock 4.0.4 but got one problem:
My Nexus was a YAKJUXW-Model but currently I'm using the YAKJU Version (4.0.4, IMM76I).
Do I need to return to YAKJUXW if I want to make use of the warranty (Does anyone have expierience with this)?
If so, where can I find a download of the YAKJUXW-Firmware? I remember doing a Nandroid before switching from stock to a Custom-ROM, but I deleted this Backup ages ago.

I'm currently running the version I downloaded from there. But where do I find a YAKJUXW-Image?
Or should I really try to give them my device which is running the Stock YAKJU-Image?

If you want the yakjuxw images, there is a thread in the dev section (started by josteink) that has a link.
Not sure if it matters if you return it with yakju or yakjuxw.

Okay, thank you for the answer.
Tomorrow if I have enough time, I'll go to the shop and give them my Nexus.

Here is the link by the way for the yakjuxw images.

Just a little Update:
I got my phone back today, and they said they replaced the W-LAN and GPS Module. GPS is working again
They also said they did an Update and Factory Reset, however it's still on ITL41F YAKJUXW.
Thank you for helping me!
Btw: They forgot to relock the device ;D

[Q] Getting 4.0.4 Stock ROM

I've been an Android user for a while (Nexus One, and now Galaxy Nexus), but am quite tired of Samsung's tyrannical rule over that little version number in "About Phone".
So, I've got my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (on 4.0.1, ERGH!), and I'm on Bell Canada (Alberta, specifically), and I don't believe I have LTE capability (I do have HSPA+...). As for computer, I run Windows 7 x64.
On that note, I'd like to unlock the BootLoader and flash 4.0.4 (no root, if possible), or at least be able to receive updates directly from Google.
These are the questions (and confirmations) I have, as I haven't been able to find any FAQ or thread that covers them...
1. Is this the ROM I should be downloading?
2. Is this the tool I should be using to unlock the BootLoader safely and properly?
3. Is a relocked BootLoader traceable by the carrier/manufacturer, in the event that I need to return it?
4. What is the best way to back up all of the App data on my phone? (High scores, calendar settings, user/password combinations, etc.) Or is this even possible? (I think things like contacts, phone settings, calendar events, and Apps will sync from the cloud... right?)
Any help is appreciated... I'm a bit of a tech geek but I've never even tampered with a phone before, so this is all new to me. Thanks to anyone brave enough to help me! ^^
PS: Sorry if this is in the wrong section; this was the most fitting, I thought.
I used that toolkit and that update and I can confirm that they both work
That is NOT the ROM for you, you have a GSM device. H+ is not LTE.
The GSM and CDMA devices are markedly different.
Try to read in this thread... as well as efrant posts, you will get your answer !
N.B. most important thing is read and read and read... before doing anything..

There is no official 4.0.4 ROM for the GSM version. The latest is 4.0.2.
By the way, you can still update your version (yakjuux) to 4.0.2 without flashing yakju, by following the instructions here.

Best way is to root your device by following the instructions here, and then install Titanium Backup from the market. TB will do what you are asking.

Still requires setting up the toolkit to get the drivers and bootloader unlocked, and to get fastboot working though, it seems, yes?

Doesn't rooting require wiping the device, though? I'm interested in backing it up pre-4.0.4.

There is no 4.0.4 source. There is a rumored leak of the 4.0.4 LTE version (no idea of the condition of the version), but the only source that is available is 4.0.3 (it's in the AOSP). The latest version on any GN is 4.0.2 (GSM or LTE/CDMA).
It's kind of disappointing to see the GN taking so long to update, but the Nexus S is apparently taking ages to get onto ICS. I doubt we get another update until the Nexus S gets 100% updated to ICS.

True, true. But warranty is through Vodafone where I got it from and it'll be void if I reflash it. I already sent it twice back. First time it had the motherboard replaced because of a boot loop and now it's there for unexplained battery drain, 40% overnight with everything but the phone disabled.
I just got a yakjuxw nexus yesterday, and immediately fastboot flashed to yakju, 4.0.4. First time, it boot looped, but a second attempt went just fine. I figured this was the easiest way to make sure I got updates from Google in a timely manner.
Method for quicker OTA update
I got the update OTA (UK).
I used this method to get it quicker. Took about 6 attempts, but i didn't bother rebooting.
Should work, some redditors said it took anywhere from 2-20 attempts :/

My phone is an unlocked European model, but I'm in the US on AT&T. Note that I converted my yakjuxw build to the plain Google yakju. I'm not even sure why anyone wouldn't do this (aside from being afraid of bricking your phone )-- it wasn't that difficult to do using the Gnex toolkit offered in the development section here.
The worst part for me was getting my Win7 64 bit PC to recognize my phone in fastboot mode and actually install the driver. Once I did that, I was good to go (ok, maybe except the boot loop, but I've flashed the hell out of a Viewsonic G-Tablet before, so boot looping wasn't anything I haven't seen already).

Just Flashed Yakju but have a problem...

Hi,
Been snooping round here for a while but haven't needed to post as i found all the answers until now!
I have just flashed my Galaxy Nexus to yakju using the Nexus Root Toolkit by Wugfresh in order to get 4.1.1 and it all went smoothly. The updtae is there but when i try and install it i just get a red error sign. At first i though it was because i still had an unlocked bootloader so i re-locked it (symbol has gone) but i still get the same error.
I'm a complete rookie at this but could do with some help!!!
Thanks,

what error does it have exactly?
Also, I would download the update over WiFi, could be a corrupt OTA maybe.
I would reflash the 4.0.4 image via toolkit, then relock bootloader, then use WiFi to get the OTA

Thanks to both of you for the help, hopefully everything runs smoothly
:good:
Just remember next time you return to stock that it's important to flash both the stock bootloader and stock radio in order to receive and auto-install the OTA.
Also, bootloader unlock state does not matter. You can have an unlocked bootloader and it does not at all affect your ability to receive and apply an OTA.

Is jelly bean available in the UK OTA or otherwise

I've searched for an answer for this on google and on here, but can't find one anywhere. apologies if I'm being dim.
I've just bought an unlocked Galaxy nexus of ebay (I9250) and I've put my o2 uk sim into it. I only bought it so I could get my hands on jellybean.
Is it actually available for this handset in the uk ota or otherwise (without rooting)

currently running 4.0.4
depends on the firmware you are on.
what does the build number say in the about phone section under settings?

Thanks for the fast reply. I got a nexus because I wanted jellybean without any hassle. This method looks pretty intense.
Was there a way to tell if my device would have an update available before I bought it?
what's the difference between yakjuxw & yakju? is it a regional thing?
if i do convert to yakju, will it be like my handset was always yakju (if you get me?)
EDIT: I think i meant is yakju an official google rom

its a very simple process. if you follow the steps as they are and do not skip anything, you will be fine and if you happen to run into any problems, me or efrant can help you if you post in the thread
the difference is regional and yakju is updated directly from google. anything other than yakju, takju (US play store version) and mysid (verizon variant) is updated by samsung
if you convert to yakju, you will notice no difference. the GSM version's hardware is the same across all variants.
So if i do this process, will it just be like I have a "pure" nexus, and i will receive any future ota updates?
also, do i need to root or anything?
I'm stressing a bit because that is what I thought I was getting

you will have a pure nexus and will updates as soon as they are available directly from google
the only thing you will be doing is unlocking the bootloader. this is not the same as rooting, and you can always relock the bootloader for a pure stock look, although having it unlocked does nothing really.
just follow the steps and you will be fine.
sorry for bombarding you with questions.
Does it make a difference if I go for the 4.0.4 (IMM76I) 4.1.1 (JRO03C)?
I'm assuming I'd just want to go straight to 4.1.1

yes there should be 6.
for all the fastboot commands, you will enter them in terminal and instead of just fastboot, you'll need to start the commands with ./

yes, and you can do that now if you really want (i dont recommend it unless you really are going to stay 100% stock all the time). the command is: ./fastboot oem lock
am i correct in thinking if i do a factory restore that it wont get rid of jellybean.

Last question...(probably)
is it likely that the retailer i bought the device from will be able to tell that i installed a new version of the operating system?
I have been having problems with the phone restarting itself randomly. I have read that this is quite a common problem and the hardware most likely needs replacing. but dont want them to think it was me tinkering that has caused this (they specifically asked if id tried to install a custom os)
cheers

Yakju update 4.2 is out!

Hey guys,
A couple of hours ago I received the 4.2 update.
I have the Canadian version. I am running stock Android 4.1.2, flashed to Yakju. I am also rooted with CWM.
The update downloaded fine, however it gave me the infamous "error status 7" when it installing/flashing. When I rebooted and tried to check for update again it didn't give me the update notification .. So I am still on 4.1.2
I just thought I would share the news with ya all that it's out. If you guys know how I can get that notification again, or know where the update downloads on my device let me know and I will share the OTA here.
Cheers,

Hey guys,
A couple of hours ago I received the 4.2 update.
Cheers,

Please give me build.prop from your device 4.1.2
I got the OTA on my phone, tried to install it twice but each time it cuts to recovery mode during installation, anyone know why this is and how I can fix it and successfully install 4.2?

we can help you but WE NEED THE OTA OURSELVES!!!!
All you have to do is, before you even CLICK THE UPGRADE BUTTON, BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD IT, LOOK IN THE LOG AND GIVE US THE OTA LINK. We still haven't got yakju, we're all waiting desperately, the least you could do is to share the link to the OTA file with everyone here refreshing posts!
PLEASE. IF YOU GET AN UPDATE NOTIFICATION, DON'T TOUCH THE BUTTON AND DO THIS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21025378&postcount=27
once we get the link for it we can help you!!!
can you grab the update link
here is how to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21025378&postcount=27
Lol I swear I didn't know how to ... And yes I have been trying to update it for the past while now but no luck.
I finally flashed one of the stock roms (bigxie) from the developers section and it seems fine so far
Sorry guys, will keep that in mind next time!

..if you want stock why not just flash the factory 4.1.2 image? It'll be faster to get 4.2 anyway than AOSP roms...
even better, flash the takju 4.2 fatory imageonto your yakju phone. Have heard it works fine but remember to backup your data
great, waiting for stock rom.
Do you know this?

That's only for factory images and are usually released after OTA availability i.e. it's slower
I am trying since morning. No success. I do not see many people getting it. Looks like we have to wait for a day or two.
BTW i sideloaded 4.2 on my N7 so the eagerness is little less now
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

URL for Bell HSPA Galaxy Nexus Android 4.2
I hope this helps - I used the command prompt as the app did not seem to give me what I wanted (although I'm sure it could)

(can't post URLs yet...)
I am using an unlocked Bell Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Hope it helps - if you can offer assistance so that I may successfully flash to 4.2, even better
