Hi
Iam a beginner at this but a got an answer on you threat when you posted the samsung galaxy gio mod with cyanogenmod 9.
I followed the link and you explaned how to flash and how to install that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...05&postcount=4
Thanks very much.
But here are my questions, plz answer them all.
1. Whats the difference between flashing and rooting your phone? Do i need to root it before i flash it?
2. How can i erase the mod later if i dont want it anymore. maybe change back to samsung touchwiz?
3. What backup do i have to backup?
Is there any guide for that?
4. Is there any risk of damaging your phone if you root it or flash it? What could happen? And can you restore it to factory settings?
Thanks for the help man, i really appreciate it

1. Flashing mean u flash (upgrade or downgrade) ur OS version. Rooting mean u become a superuser for ur phone. If u don't know what is rooting for, u should looking into the forums...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397120
2. Flash to stock rom and unroot ur phone.
3. On stock rom u can backup using KIES. Or native backup from phone. On custom rom u can used CWM to made nandroid backup. ( look into forums )
4. Yes, a risk always.. but as long u follow the step from, it won't hurt ur phone.

If you are a beginner, I suggest not to flash cm9.
Its in beta
I recommend to use stock first, root it and tweak it.

Hi, so from like a month ago i try to get flash player working on my gio, I tryed every flash player from this forum and I searched on google too, but nothing. I just can't make it work. I every time do it how the instructions say and when I'm done i double check to see if I did something wrong, but no ! I make everything correct every time but flash player isn't working! What do I need to do to make it work?
My Gio:
Stock rom
Android 2.2.1
Rooted
Sent from my Galaxy Gio using XDA Premium
Upgrading to 2.3 maybe
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium
You need Flash Player on smartphone? I honestly see no purpose. Even on PC.
Search "adobe flash player armv6" on google and download, it's working also, upgrade to 2.3 if you can
I will not upgrade cause if my phone broke or something my dad will be very angry cause he bought me the phone and I don't risk, I want to upgrade but my dad won't let me! And iok1 I tryed it's not working!

This is kies. Insall it and upgrade your phone from there.
Ok but my dad thinks the android will update automaticaly and the phone will ask me if I want to update , and still he doesn't let me.

Lol.
If I said to my mom im developing in android she doesnt even know what I tell, just install kies and it will be fine
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium
Ok I will try...... just install it ,plug in the phone and upgrade? If not how?
Sent from my Galaxy Gio using XDA Premium
Just follow the instructions Kies gives you.. You'll be fine..
Ok installed kies and plugged in my phone and it says new firmware update aviable and I just follow the instructions and when it's done the android is updated?
And will this remove the root? And should I take off the SD card?
Sent from my Galaxy Gio using XDA Premium
It will remove the root but I don't believe you have to remove the sd

So you managed to updated your phone to 2.3.3 ? If you did that now you have to root your phone again and go to "big thread for new users" in Galaxy Gio General forums. There you have a link on how to instal flash to your device.

So what i like to have is a rom that has a working stk app (need it allot ) and the sound loud enough (message sound on stock rom was not loud enough)
So can someone guide way to the right rom.
Thank u in front:laugh:

i model came out later than the 'normal ace'

Thats why you need to check the 5830i forum and download roms there, not on the 5830 forum.

it is an ace with different modules, kernel, and updated to have 2.3 out of the box instead of froyo.
does not have armv7 processor.

I have checked this rom in the both (5830 & 5830i) forums, and the rom was in the 5830 forum
So, I think it will not work on my brother phone (5830i)
And I was want to try flashing the rom, but I remembered that I haven't the original stock rom to flash it if the custom won't work
So I will let this crap rom go to hell

Hey there, I was wondering whether I could use the Software "KingoAndroidRoot" to simply root my GT-P5210.
Anyone tried this? Because http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432467 here the Root ZIP download does not work..
I could just click on root now but im a bit scared since I found nothing about my Tablet in combination with this software(kingo android root) :S can it even brick the device?
i have 4.2.2 installed... just want to get rid of all these preinstalled apps... touchwiz isnt too bad imo.
Still would apreciate roms, do you think in the future there might be cyanogenmod or something aviable for this device??
thanks for your suppport, i apreciate it!
