Supercharger six ones - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everybody I'm on cm9 beta 3 and I really don't know anything about this other than when I run v6 supercharger to check if it's supercharged and mess with it and the like, I see that my current minfrees are listed as all 1's, but everything else is well in order everything is in effect and running and it also says I'm 100% supercharged so I don't know whats wrong if anything, I just thought I'd check here. Any info would be appreciated, thanks guys.

I'm pretty sure v6 supercharger is useless in ics due to enhancements In Ics

I'm very sure that you're wrong.
ICS is as messed up as Gingerbread, if not more so due to how it handles the new Previous App priority.
http://android.mimic.ca/

Well I don't use it and my performance is fine, battery is fine, and the system always gives me around 200MB of free ram.
I tried it for ICS and all I noticed was a slight snappiness and less multitasking capability.
I have a feeling the ram is handled as it should be.

I find it amusing when somebody thinks that memory tweaks are not needed when they are using custom roms with memory tweaks.
And yes this post is meant to confuse somebody.

Have been away for awhile, what's the best rom to use right now?

CM7 doesn't look like it's finished enough to attempt. Can't seem to find any ACS builds.
Why ask this? Everyone will just tell you the ROM they are using. ALL ROMs are good. Just read through the top threads in development and pick one.

Here are the top six roms in MY opinion that are the best...
1.)StarskyROM (The one nobody talks about, but offers the BEST performance, in exchange for a couple bugs, that absolutely relate nothing to user-experience-quality. Pretty Stock, balls to the wall speed, not bad battery)
2.) LegendaryRom
3.)ACS ICS (Dont think its being updated anymore, Marcusant created MarcusantRom, listed below, which is basically the same thing as ACS ICS)
4.)SleeperRom (Amazing battery life)
5.)MarcusantRom (Incredibly Stable, Fast, Amazing Looks)
6.).....no need to list beyond this point, its all a matter of personal preference.....

I have not had very good luck with the latest Samurai kernels. I get horrendous lag. I believe this was even acknowledged by the developer, unless im mistaken and a new release has become available recently.
I had some issues as well, but last night 3.3.0 in 3 flavors came out.
So far I am very pleased, other seem to be as well.

What kind of quadrant score do you get with the shadow kernel on stock settings? I'm running starskrom, flashed the shadow kernel, and now I'm getting 250 less of a score on quadrant. I've gerard some people saying they are getting 3000 or more. That not possible without overclocking right?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
That is correct. You need to OC to get that score. Quadrant is crap and can be easily spoofed. It does just some number crunching and a few video routines. The best judge of performance is how it works and feels for you. If you are hung up on whose benchmark is bigger, stick to smartbench 2010.

I just got mine and was wondering is it worth rooting becausr stock is already fast and stable
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
It's always worth rooting.
Right now, the performance increase isn't the biggest reason, because this phone can handle anything we through at it with ease.
The root_only features, however, definitely are.
Backups, tethering, painless restores, themes, ad hoc wifi, and all the other goodies that custom Roms provide really make a big difference.

You really should check out the juggernaut rom and also faux123 kernal. I can't express how much faster the sg2 runs and no stuttering or lag. The phone also has much better battery life it's really amazing. Also no spying carrier iq, no bloatware etc. you can free wifi tether. You can over clock or under clock. My phone has never worked so good.
Definitely recommend the following:
Load cwm recovery
Install latest juggernaut rom 4.1
Install latest faux123 kernal
Not required but also install latest modem kl1
If you do then install swype beta keyboard
I use go launcher highly recommended.

That's a tough question mate. There really is no best. Its a matter of figuring out what you want and what roms do that the best. I recommend trying them all. Personally I'm a cyanogenmod fanboi and I try to run it on pretty much everything I own.

main reason u should root and install a custom rom is BATTERY LIFE! lol u more than double your battery life, get all the bloat out of your phone, CIQ etc, plus you do get a performance increase, and its more stable than stock.. hands down best thing you could ever do to your phone.

Sleeper vs. Clean GB - EL 30 versions

I had trouble with the earlier update scripts on Sleeper. It seems 2.04 has gotten all the bugs out. You can't beat CleanGB for convering to MTD and Toad seems to be on top of his game. I have not tried them on BML but I am sure they are comparable. The advantage that Sleeper offers is 2 versions, slim and full. Both seem very fast at stock frequencies. Since I restore advanced data from nandroid my setups always look the same and can compare performance. Sorry if this wasn't much help.

It's not for everyone. It is non-Touchwiz. That is probably the most important thing to remember so things will be different. I made a thread in General on both CM7 and CM9 where people can post tips and tricks to ease the experience of jumping over. I ran CM7 for awhile up to nightly 28. It is solid. CM9 as stated is in Alpha 3 now. It is pretty good for a taste of ICS but not for everyone.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I think the OP is looking for a production build, so a nightly build version would not be ideal. CleanGB would be my recommendation. Just less overhead and room for errors.
side by side comp
Interesting thing, obvious too for most...
Each of the Devs use each other stuff(s) and they give credit for the mods each have used in the final rom...
As a side by side, I can see pros and cons of the two, I have used both and seem to lean towards Sleeper...not sure exactly why. but I have nandrroids of both ready to go.
Just cant seem to want to try the CM builds, would love to see what the Viper Devs could come up with in EL30 though.

[Q] Pause-resume and freezing during gameplay

I am talking about Gingerbread, not ICS.
Every android game I play, especially graphics-intensive ones, begin to intermittently freeze up and go to their 'pause' screens between every few seconds or every few minutes (depends on the game). I always need to hit 'resume' to get back into whatever game I'm playing. This has never happened before, even though I'm playing some of the same games I've used since the EI22 Samsung update (and associated custom ROMs).
I've had this error on every ROM I've used since my upgrade to EL30. This includes the completely stock EL30 on BML, RandomRom Thunderhawk IV EL30 on MTD, and the AOSP FC09 on MTD; I've used the same kernel on my phone since January (Shadow 3.0+), but now with it built on EL30. I am running Android 2.3.6 and reluctant to try CM9 or 7 until all kinks have been worked out; I need my phone to always at least be able to work as a phone/text/photo/email/internet/GPS device, and based on the development forums, that's currently far from guaranteed.
I've tried tweaking my CPU governor, completely shutting off overclocking programs, and even using a RAM manager with absolutely no luck.
Does anyone have the same issue, and if you've got a workaround, what is it? Any other kernels or completely reliable ROMs I should try?

SUCCESS!! I ended up installing the current EL30 TW Samurai kernel instead of the older one I had on my SD card from a few months back, and boy does it kick ass. It has a higher framerate cap than the shadowkernel, and doesn't freeze up annoyingly during games. I have a feeling that it is because of something called a 'memory deadlock fix' that was included in the samurai version from last month, but not mentioned at all in the shadowkernel. Thanks, everyone, for your input. You guys/gals are great! BTW, I've stuck to qbking's amazingly professional RandomROM and now have absolutely ZERO issues of ANY sort. This includes 4G/WiFi switching, MMS, LED, and even little things like GPS locktimes. It is by far better in every way than stock, too, especially with the keyboard fix. It's pretty much Perseus or stock. Stock runs fine for me as is.
I think different phones handle kernels different ways. My battery is better stock. Also why can people post in development. You should have to be a dev or get permission from a mod if your new.

I just loaded deodex lk8 fresh installed. perseous 31 and it makes my phone run jerky. I play arcane legends aswell and its noticable there too. stock is smooth for me.
I'm using ljc. I have force gpu rendering checked also. Seems to help a little.
Hmm I noticed that frame skipping too, but even when forcing performance at 1.8ghz and capping the gpu at 533mhz it still happens (even though its capping the vsync)
but besides that perseus kernel runs smooth for everything use.
I wonder what's causing it. I haven't tried stock yet. (no joke I rooted this phone within an hour or so of owning it. Didn't even mess with it stock outside of activating it)
No one sees this really? I have a cov worker with the same setup. installed the kernel and his does the same jerkyness. so it can't be my device. I'm very keen to stuff like this btw.

I'm running perseus v31 on my rom and have it overclocked to 1.8ghz cpu and 800mhz gpu and undervolted 75mv cpu and 50mv gpu and its way smoother than stock. But then again I've odexed and optimized my rom and slightly modified the kernel a tad but b4 the modifications and odexing etc it ran just fine on deodexed ljc

Maybe you should. They're there for a reason. I mean they're even stickied at the top of every subforum so you don't even have to search for them if you don't read the rules don't cry when you get flamed like a marshmallow at a campfire

back to my original idea. It would be nice to have a total stock kernel with no tweaks at all but just the ability to overclock. anyone else want something like this?
Has anyone tried overclocking stock kernel with tegrak? I have my paid version and think I'm going to take it for a test run. Haven't really used it since my og epic days. Didn't really use it on the E4GT.
