Hey, all, just wanted to say that I'm new to Android and have probably been on here during the Samsung Blackjack days.
Any who, I need to be pointed on the right direction. What is the best ROM to use right now (stable)? I really hate the T-Mobile bloatware and have already rooted my phone, using the required steps given by this site.

Juggernut

Saying which ROM is best is very subjective. I would recommend trying dewizzed, macnut, and juggernaut. Those in my opinion and in same order are the most stable. Try each one for a days and see which one out ultimately feel suits you best. Everybody likes something different so start flashing and testing.
There is enough hate in the world. Why can't we all get along here ...?
I use spotify with my phone, does it need a specific ROM or it just needs to be based off of Gingerbread or whatever?

If you like the feel of the stock ROM, but want extra features and tweaks, go for Juggernaut. It is extremely fast, stable, and well developed overall.
And spotify should work.

Yea, I hear yea. What I meant to say is I want a stable ROM without the Tmobile bloatware and I want it to be faster than what is already loaded; a slimmed down version.

Also, just wanted to ask because I didn't do a backup of my original ROM, would I search for stock rom in this sub-forum?

You would look in the development forum, there are quite a few ways to get back to stock.

Can someone please point me in the right direction...I have Juggernaut, pretty effin sweet, I must say. I have Go Locker with the Honeycomb theme. How can I install different lock screens, and do they have to be compatible with the Honeycomb theme?
Mod, if this is in the wrong place, please move it accordingly.

havent used jugs in awhile but i believe you have lockscreen options under rom manager..and on the market there are tons lock screen replacements. go locker, magic locker, those are 2 good ones out of many. once you have either those simply find what theme you like.
Hi there
I got a Docomo Nexus. I have a galaxy s2 also. I thought I would had the same challenges here...
Guess what... i installed Cwm. The only challenge for me. Installed latest Akop and for the first time I am not changing a rom from 3 days. Everything works here.
I am getting bored. please give dome directions to have fun and play with my phone.
For example. Is there a kernel that gives somehow better battery life? Any other rom better than Akop? Any substitute for macro feature missing in the camera app?
I used to search for perfection in galaxy S2 and I was switching between cm9, custom roms to find a perfection...please understand me, hope so...

First of all, AOKP is not the best ROM. CM9 is faster and Slim ICS is the fastest ROM with the same features as AOKP.
Secondly, I'd recommend finding something else to do with your time than worry about how your phone is "boring".

I understand your reasoning. Since we already have the latest and greatest there's not much to look forward to until Jelly Bean leaks.
Play Frisbee golf with your nexus?
zippity doo da.
Finding the answers to the questions that you asked is half the fun, for me at least. If there was a definitive "best" ROM or kernel there would be very little need for such a development based community. If you are looking for fun I would suggest looking at the market for one of the many games available.

What is true differs for every person. For example, you couldn't pay me to use AOKP (do not ask why, I won't tell you).
Do I believe that any rom is faster than any other? No I do not. Do I believe kernels can change that? Yes I do.

So what do you use? I see you're a developer: do you have your own rom? Pardon my ignorance I'm still new here. Have yet to remember a username and connect that with the work they've done.
If I guess right will you tell me? Do they work for the government and have installed keyloggers so when we say anti obama things to our friends in texts the black choppers will show up at your house, and if you tell anyone they will kill you? If so I wouldn't use it either... Or tell me why
I have gone AWOL as of last release (too much personal business to handle) but I work with a team. We put out BAMF Paradigm. I am but one member, and certainly not the main one.
My reasonings for not using AOKP are not because of that, however
I use Paradigm 1.2 with my own modifications.

I've been looking for 3rd party apps that follow the ICS guidelines. Makes the phone much more fun.

i started with AOKP and never regret it, i also tested SlimICS which for sure has not same features as aokp, i also tested liquid which is nice but only english, i also tried cm9, also nice but i miss the aokp stuff in it.
For me AOKP is the best, i always come back to it and now i will stay with it, it has everything i want and just works.
For kernel i use Imoseyons Leankernel which worked for me always the best, i get around 3h also sometimes 3 1/2h screen ontime with it, and over night it loose almost nothing.
I tried also francos kernel, which is also nice, but with it i had sod issues and other stuff, but it is still a good kernel many people love it, i will stay with Leankernel.
I use to post and utilize this forum when I had a Vibrant. I love my SII. In fact, I love it so much that, although I bought it the day it came out, I have waited until now to finally root it.
I'm so out of the loop. Are the ICS roms ready to go as daily drivers or should I wait until T-Mo drops theirs? If it's all G2G, then what are your opinions on what's best?
If you feel that Ginger is better as a daily, which is good to jump into?
Keep in mind that I am not looking for super powers and problems. I just want a good daily driver. I like being able to back **** up and use some of the features available to rooted devices, drop bloat, and theme a bit.
I'll run a log of my experiences and try to find issues, if necessary, so that this thread can appropriately stay in this section. If that still is considered a rule breaker, then I politely ask the MODs to move it to the best section.
Thanks in advance.

Digital warfare 2.5.1 is the most stable and best battery life of any rom here
Not sure if you read the end of my post but if you had, it makes your reply pointless, with all due respect. Thanks though.

Whether you run a log of issues or not, the topic has no bearing on development.
I can tell you from experience that the ICS Perfection is a pretty stable build. I have been running it for a week without much of a hicup. Obviously the gingerbread ROMs are more stable then the ICS ones. I used the CM7 build as a daily driver before ICS and lived it. Since I went to ICS, Eugene has started work on fixing some of the bugs on his version of CM7. Best thing to do is test them out and see what one is your style.

Then I would like a MOD to please move it as soon as possible.

Hi all. Just bought an S3, coming from an HTC One X. I miss my one X alot, but it didn't have the sd slot and battery that I needed. Other than that it was a great phone. Now I have an S3, great phone, but man Touchwiz is crapple in my opinion. There are some good and bad thing about it. So, I'm thinking about rooting and ROMing my phone up. I haven't been in the root an ROM business for about a year, so I feel a bit noobish again.
Any preferences on your favorite ROMs? I'm looking for something smooth and clean and not so bulky. Things are easy to get to and has some user fluidity to it.

+1 for this ROM. I came to this from a Galaxy Note. Both great but I sorta miss the bigger screen. This is a better phone though for sure. Its real easy to get this set up the way you like but I recommend you read up on Tony Starks all in one thread before getting into anything. Y'Know just to dust the cobwebs off haha. I just bought a S3 as well (first non iOS phone) and am very happy. I went with Kyan's ICS ROM since it seems more stable than the leaked JB ROMs. Works great for me, not a single issue yet (following the instructions to the letter in the noob thread and his site).

ALL are obviously smooth and clean but you need to find out for yourself.
No one knows what's best for you.

So,first of all I'm running on cna 3.8.0 with faux mainline-smartreflex kernel, what do you think about this?is this a good choice? On my needs list for this phone, there are the smoothness, gaming performance and the battery life? Are there any suggestions for any rom/kernel that would be better according to my needs?
Cheers!

I agree. That's kind of the gift and the curse with flashing. On the other hand by doing so you get to experience and learn of other things you might want out of a ROM instead of what you have listed. People can recommend all day long, but your likes might be different.
With all that said, I'm running P.A. 2.99.6 and it's an awesome ROM. You should give it a go.
