Dont get mad but have you tried Google? I put in ---- odin for --- and it finished it off for me. Then I clicked on the link where I then proceeded to download a file which is name odin 1.8.5.tar.gz - I am assuming the extension is for Mac? Correct?
If so come on man that was too easy.... If not my bad since I am not an apple guy...

there is a torrent for it
or use heimdall
but i prefer VMWare + Odin

I have used Heimdall in the past, but currently I use either Mobile ODIN, or I boot up Windows 7 in Parallels Desktop and do it that way. Both work great.

I wouldn't use parralel for Odin
Lets say parralel crashes or lags ur screwed

I use vmware and xp. No problems. Just make sure you always let vmware & windows take control of any USB devices and don't share them with host os (osx).

ditch odin and use heimdall.. dont have to worry about drivers etc.. infact use linux

Seriously? We run mission critical servers in Parallels or VMWare; they are rock solid. This is totally a good option for people. Even if it did lag, it won't ever screw up the ODIN download feature, so you can just restart and start over.

Heimdall is pretty good, but you can use 1 click odin package; it's super easy. takes like 2 minutes and you're good to go. Why don't you just compile your own OS, then build heimdall from source? then you can be a super l337 h4x0r

well i prefer to use linux, and i prefer to use heimdall because both work flawless for me. i use linux to compile android, and compile kernels, android is a linux derivative, linux is probably the most stable OS family to have ever been created.. the fact that you CAN compile heimdall, linux, and android from source makes them the better solution, but you dont have to.. which also makes them a good solution.. plus Odin has been known to brick phones..

its a pain to run a vm every time to flash when you dont have any windows pcs in the house
thanks for your help!

[HEIMDALL] One Click EL29 Rooted + Recovery

I created a Heimdall one click el29 for all the linux users that dislike having to use odin or do not have a windows installation or vm set-up.
Heimdall is much better than odin its cross platform and open source. and it just came out with a new version
learn more here

Wanna make your own? go to the links above and read start to finish. This is all it took me with a little bit of trial and error
All credit goes to the respective sources of each ie CHRIS41(THE REAL G) /adamoutler/sextape/Team Rouge/Benjamin-Dobell I did nothing except use their tools and have basic linux knowledge
The one click should work for windows/mac/linux
To run on linux open a terminal in the download location and type this
sudo java -jar el29rr-One-Click.jar ( or what eve you named it)
this is a safe recovery/rom to flash what ever you like.

el29rr-One-Click.jar - 331.62 MB
enjoy :good:
ill have fi27 up same deal tomorrow with agat recovery AND ill be posting up every release after with good recovery (pending agat shows me how or sticks around)
just a note this is not complete stock i included fi27 modem with this package. as the package is ment as a one click flash to a new rom mostly for getting a gps/prl update
and it uses el29 cwm recovery from chris41g outta the rwilco repo.
ps dont donate to me i didnt do anything worthy. donate to chris41g or sbreezy they do the majority of the coding around here
second i dunno why its important

indeed i only use it because its open source and i dont have a windows pc plus its far superior.
it was more of a necessary and i figured im always flashing el to get a gps lock and after slick ricks aokp 4.1 it borked my serial and stuff so had to flash back and im rather against vming windows. I mean linux is a all around better operating system for users/powerusers and programmers. maybe not gamers but thats debatable and also why i have a ps3 lol

[Q] Downgrade UVDLI or root it on a Mac

Hi:
I've spent a couple weeks trying to find a solid solution to my issue, and haven't quite gotten it. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction, thank you.
- I have a t999/ t-mobile GS3. I flashed the so-called "leaked OTA 4.1 upgrade" UVDLI3 to it, and I'm not really happy with it.
- I'd like to go to a rooted phone, so I can install AOKP or similar. So I'd like to either root the existing UVDLI3, or downgrade to 4.0.4 so I can use the root script originated on XDA.
- I use a Macintosh computer. I can get access to a PC, but it's a bit dicey if I have to install software and drivers on it. Possible, but not preferable.
Any recommendations to get either rooted or back to 4.0.4? Thank you all very much.
There's an official jellybean release for T-Mobile better than the leak. Not sure what your asking but there's a root66 stock jellybean file you can Odin that has root already.

Thanks -- my biggest stumbling block is Odin, which is PC only, but the Root66 page suggests maybe mobile Odin would do it. I'll give that a try.

You need to be rooted in order to use mobile odin
Mobile Odin is a mac users savior!
Jus be careful to never lose root once you've got it.
If you haven't already, I would seriously recommend you get the Pro version for its EverRoot option.

So I tried Mobile Odin, and realized that requires that I be rooted already (thanks also j_smith305). So it's either find a way to root UVDLI3, or downgrade to 4.0.4 and root that. Back to my original issue, I think.
You can install virtual machine on your mac and then install windows on it. You will have odin working on your mac without buying new pc. For free vm just make small research in google. Also you can try using some exe emulator. I think Wine is available for mac. Or make research if there is odin or something like odin for linux. If there is then download some linux (I recommend ubuntu) and install it on usb drive.

I've tried using odin on a virtual machine but I've had problems installing the samsung drivers on it. You can try doing it on bootcamp but I don't know if that'll work since I haven't tried it. I have a mac but I also have a PC so I do all my rooting and stuff on there. If you have no success on a mac, then your only option might be to just use windows if you can.

Check this thread out. Might help you root on a mac:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946149
edit: it hasn't been tested on jellybean so idk if that'll work
That won't work on Jellybean. Looks like we are gonna have to use bootcamp. I have to get my install discs bc you need the drivers to install windows. Mountain Lion sucks, and I hear Win 7 works flawlessly so lets see whats good.

Thanks very much -- I finally bit the bullet and borrowed someone else's PC, downgraded to 4.0.4, and then rooted that with the XDA-posted script. Worked great. I then installed Mobile Odin Pro, then the new Frosty Jelly Bean FW. Thank you so much.

So you installed newest FrostyJB? My suggestion is go back to odin and flash root66 4.1.1. You will get less problems with the rom and better battery life. People actualy reported that rom works better if you flash stock 4.1 before.
I'm just saying that so you can avoid some problems related to that and asking unnecessary questions in Frosty thread.

Thanks -- we'll see how it goes. Now that I have the thing rooted and OMP working, it's really easy to switch the ROM up. So far Frosty has worked well, and Root66 looks good too. I'd really like a good AOKP ROM to try out as well. Hope to find one that's reasonably stable.

Odin on a Mac? Other options?

Been having some issues with my phone, even after performing a few complete system wipes. Read that flashing back to complete stock and doing it all from scratch, root, tasks Rom, gaps, restore, can fix a lot of problems.
I have a MacBook and don't have Windows installed anymore. Is there any way for me to do this easily on my Mac? A guide would be especially appreciate.
Thanks a lot

you could setup a virtual machine on your mac or use mobile odin right on your S3
Heimdall is an option I believe. This method ?

looks like either heimdall or mobile odin. if your phone is rooted and running cwm or twrp, why not use a flashable stock firmware zip?

[Q] How to flash stock firmware on mac?

Okay so I tried rooting my s3 with the snapdragon toolkit but i messed up with the firmware(i used bell instead of rogers) and now my phone is sort of soft bricked. Right now I only have access to a pretty old imac with not even 1gb of ram. Is there any way to flash the stock Jellybean Rogers firmware on my phone with my mac?
I can get into download mode on my s3 but that's it.
Might be better to ask a friend to borrow their computer.
Try installing VMware and loading windows on it.

its not about it being free, its just if this stupid imac has enough memory to run a Vm of windows xp
Honestly, i kind of doubt it will. But, if you use a 32bit version of xp you might be able to pull it off. Personally, i really think you should just a friend to borrow their windows computer.

Instead of VMware and all of that mess, have you tried using Heimdall? It is the equivalent of ODIN, except it can be used on multiple platforms including Mac, natively. It is fully compatible with the GS3.

Heimdall, just like ODIN, can only flash .tar files. You are getting the error because you are attempting to flash a .zip.
You will need to find the sticky for stock firmware and get a copy for your device. They come in .tar format and are generally 700mb+ in size.
Heimdall cannot flash a "recovery flashable" firmware. (nor can ODIN)
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Unless you have a tar.gz file for heimdall, you can't load a package. You have to manually select each component.
32 bit XP can run on a min of 512 MB RAM. So try creating a virtual machine with 512 ram.
