I never have more than one bar of service on my evo, at best two bars. My reception is -84 dBm. I live in Houston so the area is not the problem. Everything else is working great. Any advice on fixing? Though I would try here before calling sprint.

Did you update the radio recently?

If that's when it started you should revert back to a previous version.
Its also true that after you update a radio you should update your prl and data profile
No this has been going on for a while now, I was hoping the radios would help and they did for 3g speed. Just my service blows. What is considered a good dBm?

You mean it's always this bad with that phone or it's always this bad no matter which Sprint phone you have?
I have a HTC evo 4g, I think I noticed right after I rooted it last November. Running cm7 rom.

Rooting won't do anything related to that...
CM7 tends to be more accurate on displaying your real reception.
You may just be at the edge of a tower.
In my settings, (Mobile network state: disconnected). Could that be it?

you wanna talk about bad service!!
I just pray to God none of you are from west Michigan... our network has been over its capacity since December 22, 2010.. I know this cause I work at a service and repair store, makes me want to hurt a child.
texts come in hours/days late and if they do come in.. it comes in 5+ times... calls take 45-50 seconds to connect, voicemails come in DAYS later, you will have a missed call and your phone never rang.. internet is almost impossible. makes me hate my job!!!
For the love of god, someone please help after I explain wth is going on.
Ive been running Infamous Rom for a while & a few days ago, my 4g startef acting up. I tried a different rom but no real change. I went back to Sonic FreeGS3 which had previou as ly ran fine but my 4g still sucks. Most apps are ok but Play Store & my web browsers refuse to load 9/10 times. I tried flashing UVLI6 & 5 modems but nothing. Do you guys think my 4g antenna went out? My wifi works flawlessly.
I live in NYC & most people had said UVLI6 was great here but not for me. Please help

Still got my imei, flashed a different modem late last night & so far so good. I had the same problem with my wifes phone after I rom'ed hers but I restored it & it was fine after. I guess T Mobile changed something and I was on the wrong frequency to get a signal.

Im in brooklyn ny so its possible. I used a trick I saw online about keeping the ohone in wcdma only & that had worked from the day after I made this post til now. Is there an updated radio available or would I have to flash back to the latest stock rom? This is really starting to annoy the hell out of me

Same thing has been happening to me. I'm in the upper Manhattan area and getting really poor 4g in my apt, like 1 or 2 bars, and dropping to 2g. I started noticing it yesterday. I'm calling T-Mobile tomorrow to see what's up.

Sounds to me like they may be doing maintenance or upgrades.
Call T-Mobile though and they should be able to tell you for sure.

Sounds like it could be network vision. I'm a tech for sprint and there have been lots of customers in my area that can't receive phone calls. Flash the return to stock Rom and if it is still doing it then take it to a service center. If they determine it's a network issue then you're SOL.

I really think it is a network issue...to many people from different parts of the country are complaining about the same issues..
I started resending out 55015 PRL to people I end up taking escalations from because there phones used to work and then they stopped and 90% of the time its because of a SMR change on there local towers voice/1x service. That 800 is nice when your able yo properly connect.

I mean how do you do it? You work for sprint or something?? I want to get off this stupid 2000 PRL myself but never took the time to flash a custom recovery just to do so.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Yes I work for sprint. And the bad thing is. I can update anyone's PRL but it will change back on the next scheduled network sync. So I have a list of PTNs I have to check weekly to verify if they rolled back to 20000 or 20001.

So what would you recommend as the best course of action? Staying on 55015 unless you notice you aren't receiving calls sometimes? Come to think of it I think I did get a voicemail once without the phone ringing... but other than that once, it seems like 55015 has been better than 2000, at least in terms of holding a data signal.
Depends on your area and your service. If 20000 doesn't work and 55015 does, then stick with it. As for calls rolling directly to VM and your phone isn't broke lol, it more then likely is a hickup in the network. You should see some of the network Trams I see on my end.

So I noticed you work for Sprint. I'm running a custom prl on my note 2 that prioritizes 800 smr. Most of the time I fail to connect, but not always. I am an active member at s4gru.com, a Sprint forum, and many people with note 2's are experiencing the same connection problems with smr. My wisdom for you is if Sprint, internally, has diagnosed the problem with the note 2's and 800 smr. Obviously Sprint knows something is up or they wouldn't have pushed the 2000 prl.

The reason I push out non standard PRLs are for instances were I have a customer who is not getting service at all or is getting extremely poor voice service. As for s4gru.com, that is not a sprint affiliated web site. It is a community blog that is not moderated nor updated by sprint. It is true that some N2 users in specific markets experience issues with 800 SMR bands enabled but I personally have not had an issue with it.

What Rom and radio are you running if you don't mind me asking?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk
L900VPAMC2 Stock Rooted with a DPI change. But I have been running 55015 the entire time even before I rooted. Erickson has been working on the issue for some time but driver updates for the Note 2 are needed for the patch to work and as far as I can tell Sammy hasn't done that yet.
But for most people I deal with, having to power cycle your phone occasionally is a hell of a lot better then no service at all.

Hello to all.
I attempted to flash a Boost mobile native galaxy s3 running 4.1.2 to Pageplus last night. Got voice and text working fine, however, cannot get data up and running, even 1x.
Loaded Pageplus Prl, and tried to *228 to no avail. Also tried manually change the settings in the paid version of cdmaws, under the 'evdo' section.
The S3 thread was closed, so I thought I would post here, and see if anyone could point me in the right direction? If this is the wrong section, please advise, and I will be happy to post there.
I also read that there is a way to obtain 3g without using a donor, and I thought it may be similiar to sprint to boost flashing using wifi, but that did not work either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Be well.
Anyone???

the reason nobody is really willing to help is because its a drawn out process ive been flashing phones to pageplus and verizon for years and what happens is after its flashed if you dont pay your bill in a timely manner your data will stop working. and guess what the LAST PERSON TO WORK ON IT IS now MaRrIed to that dam phone meaning that all subsequent issues get blamed on the last person that touched it. i wont even do it for free anymore due to [a holes] acting/feeling entitled
Ok

i deactivated my s3 and activated my s4 then swapped my daughters s2 to the s3 i deactivated. i now have no 3g 4g or 1x on the s3. wifi works though. i called sprint and was on the line for an hour doin all the ## 72786# stuff and some other ##code# things and they told me its probably broke. it was rooted when i did swap. rom was dazed wicked md4. i did an oden restore bake to lj7. still no change. any thoughts on hot fix my this?

yes and the only way to do that is on wifi but fails to fix problem.

I'm going to say that something is still messed up on Sprint's end. I've had it happen before when switching multiple devices. I would call them again. But before you do that, I would suggest doing ##72786# again.
so i called sprint and they told me the data was shut off on their end. why didnt they mention that the first time i called and spent an hour tryin to fix it.
