OK.....what should MSVC Notification Options be set to?
Cheers
i think the software u hav isnt complete because when u install it correctly and reboot when receiving a call or text it should say who is textin or callin u, but msvc works without any problems, if u hav the full verison goto start-settings-voice command-contacts and then hit options button to see if active
More importantly, can we change the voice to something more human?
I think this is a cracking piece of software, although it would be nice if it could also read out your RSS feeds (when asked to do so) and it would be amazing if you could dictate txt messages.
The only down side to using it with the Touch HD is that you have to map the call button to long press, to make it listen. Not the end of the world, but not as good as just being able to click once. For some reason it wont let me map the "back" button, which would be better, since I never use it.
Also while you are able to start applications via voice command ("start camera" being one of the most useful). There doesnt seem to be a way to close the apps in the same way.

I agree that it is a cracking piece of software.
Maybe with AEButton you can map the back button to the 'voicecmd.exe'
I tried the trial from two different sites and whenever i install it on the HD i got a "unrecoverable error" when installation finishes.
First time i was unable to even access settings to remove it so i had to resort to ActiveSync to get rid of it.
Another try from a different source gave me the same error but this time round i was able to access settings to remove it.
I'm afraid of even trying anymore.

Ummm - I do have the complete MS Voice Command and based on another post now realise that each sub-function in the menu has its own options.
I had assumed the Option button was just a general overall one. The "User Guide" is a tad basic really....
So all sorted now and thanks to all with advice....much appreciated.
Now then....how can we change this to either a smooth female voice or Basil Fawlty....???
Cheers

not tried that yet, but i'll give it a go.
Using the xperia panels I have been able to map a software button, but obviously the current panels port, isnt 100% as you frequently need to exit in order to do certain things.
OK....I have just realised that although the voice actually works....the phone vibrates but doesn't use the set 'incoming call ring tone'....I would have expected "Ringtone and Vibration" (as it is set) and then voice breaks in with callers name, etc.
What am I missing?
Can someone either attach screenshots of Options and Notification settings or list their Options settings for Contacts and Phone please?
Much appreciated.....
Anyone experience random crashing of their HD? Mine start doing it after I installed this app, this morning my HD did not woke me up so I checked my phone and it was completely dead, power button won't work so I had to resort to the softreset button. This has happened again twice today and I just don't understand where its coming from, as the phone wasn't doing anything in particular at the time(obviously as I was sleeping when it first happened). Only thing I can think of is that its conflicting with AEButton plus, which I used to map the VC to the volume button.
What is the different between this and Cyberon Voice Commander which comes bundled with my THD?
Hi,
I am using Dutty Extreme 2.1, everything seems to work apart from it not reading my e-mails or SMS messages out??
Is it suppose to do this and how can I get it working?
Thanks
For some reason whenever I open up a book in google books, it starts reading it aloud. I can't find a setting for this anywhere and it is driving me nuts. Has anyone else seen this? I've searched around online and have found absolutely nothing about this. I've run into this on two different ROMs now (Bugless Beast as well as Codename Android). Any help is much appreciated.
I am having the exact same problem without any luck in finding a solution. I would also appreciate any advice to a solution.
Something similar was happening to me as I typed messages in Codename Droid. It would read aloud every word I typed. I'm using Thumb Keyboard - and finally discovered that Text-to-Speech was somehow checked in settings. I had definitely not done it myself - in fact I've never realized it was there, and I've used Thumb Keyboard for years now. Maybe check there? I don't know how it would impact it - but maybe it is.
Also check in the settings for Google's text-to-speech output.
Good luck.
In google books open the book and then hold your finger down near the top of the on screen button. A slider should appear to allow you to move through the book and a bar should appear on the top of the screen. Open the menu and choose the stop reading aloud option.
Yeah, I know you can tell it to stop reading aloud, but the problem is I have to do this every time I open any book. It automatically reads every book aloud as soon as I open it.
I would try wiping data from the Google Books app...
I did that. I can't uninstall it either because it's a system app apparently. I was going to try and uninstall / reinstall after wiping data.

weird I only had to do it in one book and now none of them read aloud automatically. I just installed a 4.0.4 port with the updated gapps of course so maybe its broken in 4.0.2/3?
You should only have to change it once...
Since you've tried deleting data, I would try fixing permissions (using ROM Manager), to see of the changes are not sticking due to a permissions error...
Do you have lightflow installed? I read somewhere (I can't find it right now) there is a bug with the accessibility settings. It will sometimes enable talkback.
Bump any solution yet? It's really annoying

I think there's something to this.
I have no idea if this is always the issue, but I had this problem and when I looked at the accessibility settings, lightflow did show up and was enabled there. I turned it off, and not only does lightflow still work, google books has stopped reading out loud all the time. I'd say turning off all of the accessibility settings that are enabled would be worth a shot, even if you don't have lightflow, there might be something there that's screwing with accessibility.

This is the issue. It is a bug with ICS and not lightflow - but happens none the less.

Hey Guys,
Last night, i was jus playing with my GN as usual and suddenly as BAM... i got the update for JB :victory:
No doubt JB is so awesome, but i noticed this while using Google now. Everything is ok, works perfect,
EXCEPT for the voice reply. I saw the You-tube Videos where it replies with voice. (eg. whats the temperature?)
Mine does not. Mine works like something similar to this "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBZrtApZCD8"
I am from Germany, using English (US) as language in the phone.
So is there anything i should change ?
Thanks for the help in Advance
I know that some features only work in the states. I wonder if you downloaded the market enabler and selected the U.S play store to make your phone think your in the states if that would work. But I think there are some other threads on here were people are not getting all the Google now features if they are not in the states. I would check them out to see if anyone had any other tips that work.
Jellin' like a felon
Thanks for your reply kevinjgray88, me and my friend had a live comparison of the Google Voice features and his phone is from UK and mine is from Germany.
Everything works well for him, lets say, the results are always given with pictures and it speaks, but my phone just shows the text and it does not speak.
Mine is also working correctly, I've just tried "what's the temperature?" and I got the card and the voice result, I must add that my system language is EN (US) and I'm from and live in Lima, PerĂº.
Maybe you need to download a text-to-speech language pack, I'm just guessing, I did that back when I had ICS 4.0.2.
Cheers,

I also have this annoying issue... phone is in Canada and I think it should work.
I have tried both English (US) and English (CA) with no success. This is a bit worrying since it doesn't seem like a common issue, and it's not like we're using anything unofficial here...
I experienced this same issue on both 4.1 aosp and 4.1.1 aokp.
For me, it turned out that the google-now volume was somehow muted even though my volume level display showed maximum volume. I was able to restore the text-to-speech voice by increasing the volume while within google-now's settings pages.
Try opening google-now and go to: menu > settings > voice.
There, I increased my volume via the rocker and surprisingly found that the volume level display showed muted.

I wish the solution was that simple... just tried it an unfortunately my volume was on high already.
Thanks anyway.
Guys, its not only about the Voice, it doesn't show pictures too, for example ask "whats the temperature of the sun". For all those, whose phone doesn't support voice, the picture is not shown too. In my phone, it jus shows 5,778"K.
I guess they apparently released 2 versions around the globe, one with voice and pictures and other without.
lets start from the beginning, wht was the size of your Jelly Bean update ?? mine was 144.9 MB to be exact.
Mine spokes the temperature but no picture shown
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

Yeah, mine is exactly the same too when I ask the same question.
This is so annoying... can't be that there's two different versions as I didn't get the OTA, I flashed the takju 4.1.1 update on Google's servers and started with a fresh install. Unless nobody in Canada has Google Now?
Edit: Out of desperation I tried to clear data on the Google search app... I get photos on my very first search then but to text only unless I clear data again, still don't get any voice even on first search.
Guys I've found a solution, sort of.
It seems you need to be on English (US) to get voice feedback. I thought I had checked this but I had checked the Google search app settings, which doesn't do anything - you need to change the main language by going into Settings > Languages and input - I still have Google search set to English (Canada) but as long as the system language is US you still get voice feedback.
Although, I still don't see images for searches, for example when searching for temperature of the sun. Clearing data brings back the image for one search but then back to text-only.
Thanks Shawn_230 for your tip, but unfortunately, my phone's language settings is already in English (US) and it still doesn't work or even show pictures after clearing data.
I think i promptly have to wait for Google them-self to give a proper explanation or release a fix.
i solve it to my phone
Go Settings, Language & input, Text-to-speech output, press Listen to an example and and immediately press Volume+

That's too bad - you sure you changed the phone language though?
Google Now language doesn't seem to matter, you need change the whole phone to US (which ruins everything like units and date format across the whole system by the way...).

WOW.. this actually worked !! :victory:
But it still shows no picture, I personally think this is soo stupid of Google to keep a bug like this
and i see no pictures yet.
Yup, so changing the system language to US English did the trick! right on! Finally! i've been trying to get this to work for forever. But sadly, yes, it also changes all the units and everything to the imperial system. So i just have to remember to ask it in Celsius what the temperature is.
i solve it by this way
Go to google play music, select any mp3, play it, then press Volume+ to max

That did it for me also, thank you! I got my phone today directly from Google Play and set it with the Bell Canada network.
After performing your trick, I asked the following questions:
"distance between montreal and new york" - no voice
"what is the weather tomorrow" - voice presents the forecast
"remind me to call manuel in one hour" - voice confirms the alarm
"call queen elisabeth hotel in montreal" - voice confirms call
"listen to billy jean" - voice confirms the play request
"12 x 18.5" - no voice, result shows in calculator
"what is 12 percent of 25" - no voice, result shows in calculator
"3000 feet in miles" - no voice, result shows
"text alex how are you" - no voice, but the text message hits Alex properly
"bus directions to olympic stadium montreal" - voice confirms getting directions
"take me downtown by foot" - voice confirms getting directions
"when is the next montreal impact soccer game" - no voice
"when is the next giants game" - voice confirms the game details
"what time is in toronto" - voice confirms the time in Toronto
"air canada 715" - voice confirms the flight details from Toronto
"what is facebook" - voice confirms the information
"what is fyi" - voice confirms the abbreviation
"where did mark zuckerberg go to school" - no voice, probably because the dude doesn't like Google.
"where did bill gates go to school" - voice confirms information
OK, I got tired of testing, please post other commands that had the voice on.
Same here

Hi all.I have an unusual problem with Google Now.I updated to JB this morning and as you know Google Now comes along with JB.
I have no problem with the voice activation as I know I should change language and when I do it works fine.My problem is somewhat different.
After the update the Google Now asked me if I want to set up cards and because I was busy I clicked on not now.
Since then when I click on google now (you know the blue g mark)all I get is a blank screen with the search widget but no matter what I do the homescreen(with the mountains and all) that helps you set up cards does not appear.
Does anyone have any idea of how this can be solved?I am thinking that maybe some how I have deactivated Google Now.
Thanks in advance for your help

hi,
have you tried this ?
first , make sure you have data connection/wifi connection
second, on home screen, press and hold home button
this will bring/activate google now and bring it to the front.
third , press/ and hold /touch
(depends how you set this action , on your phone in your settings menu ,it is
the "button on right side of " home screen" , bottom) ..... this will bring up menu/settings
you will see menu ........."refresh /search with camera/ settings /help /feedback "
then choose settings ...
look at top of screen next you will see google now is switched off ?
switch on..etc( also activate location/gps etc...)
hope it helps ?
good luck
I also had the same problem. I had to reset my google now settings (the cards functionality specifically) in order to get it working again. Just play around with the settings and do a full reset. If not just install Google search again.
I also had a problem with Google now not saying any of my search queries. it turned out that while I had my ringer volume all the way up; my media volume was all the way down. I had to turn that one up as well in order to get the voice going.
Problem solved!
I fidled with the language setting it to English (which I had done in the past also with no results) unistalled the google play update on it and the mountain appeared.
Later all of the sudden turning back and forth from English to Greek voila the sample cards appeared.
Installed the update again and it also gave me settings for the cards.
Finally turned to Greek again and it translated to Greek and it all works fine.So fingers crossed.
Thanks for the help Guys.
So I was quick to jump on the Android beta O as I was on the N rollout. I should have known there would be issues from when I was on the N beta but nevertheless I couldnt resist.
So far my issues are few but frustrating.
1. Anytime I get a call when the phone is locked it does not wake up the phone. I have to unlock the phone and click answer. Even after doing that theres still a notification that theres a call that I can either decline or answer even after Im already talking to the person. On the same issue, the proximity sensor doesnt work in the fact that when Im on the call the screen is still active and my cheek activates apps and whatnot. When on the call I cannot get to the actual phone app in order to change to speakerphone.
2. This might be silly but when using snapchat there is a significant lag and black screens between clicking on a story and it actually starting. Also in same app, when I try to take a horizontal photo it gets hung up and I have to close the app and take the photo vertically.
3. I dont know if its because Im using a launcher, but I dont get any notification dots on any of my apps. Maybe I have to be using pixel launcher in order for this to activate. Also, maybe I have to disable number notifications in the launcher for the O notifications to take over.
Those are the most noticeable so far but I figured Id get a thread going.
I keep getting Settings FC every now and then reboot doesn't fix it. Sometimes the FC disappears and settings works fine then it comes back again not sure what's causing it

PIP does work in YouTube red for me just not duo. After the beta update yesterday my phones alot snappier. Still significant lag in Snapchat. Also Bluetooth audio does not work when playing music, only works with calls.
For PiP to work I followed this thread

I don't have YouTube red but it works for me perfectly now. also Bluetooth has been working for me with my jaybird X3. so it might be some devices.

For me, Android Pay stopped working. Says that the phone is rooted, but it is not. Also some apps lag and battery life seems worse. I was thinking of opting out, but it will wipe out all user data, so I decided not to. Too lazy to restore everything back.

I've noticed that there are several apps that have newer version available, but won't update or install. You tube, Google App (beta), Calendar (stock), Maps & Transit (beta) won't install when downloaded from APK Mirror, nor are they being updated via the Play Store. They all work fine though, so it's not a big deal. I'm just wondering if anyone else has encountered the same or similar behavior.
