how to remove useless ROM files from windows folder?

i wonder if this is possible,
to remove useless ROM files from windows folder? i found a lot of dog barking multimedia crap, i estimated it to be around 9MB ????
is this possible ????
i tried the raw rom editor tool on another thread but it didnt work on the new rom for jasjar

yes. cook your own rom as well explained in earlier posts.

->dump the extracted fat file

What did you try because cooking a universal rom does.
make_imgfs.exe dumps the splitted binary rom file. It can dump the .bin file you splitted using prepare_imgfs.exe.
Buildimgfs on the other hand rebuilds the dump directory to the binary rom file.
I suppose you do something wrong.

but Buildimgfs : failed,
and delfile.exe also failed ...
the programer said these might not support the new rom.
i donno wat to do now ???

the os image is compressed so you might not be able to gain as much storage as u think... however if you do then let us know as well

SGH-i600 ROM cooking

1. The ROM of the SGH-I600 Phone can be dumped with the romdump tool from TxCaesar:

dumprom.bat has 3 lines that need to be changed:
pdocread -w -d %yar0% -b 0x800 -p Part00 0 0x%yar1% Part00.raw

pdocread -w -d %yar0% -b 0x800 -p Part02 0 0x%yar3% Part02.raw
the block size "-b 0x800" may need to be altered to 0x200 or the part "-b 0x800" must be
completely removed .
this 2 options works and the results are identical (ich heve compared part02.bin with
hexeditor! )
i prefer option "remove the "-b 0x800" part completly "

how to do it?
1. download i600XXGG2_BOOT_PDA_ROM_FIRMWARE-zip.zip.
rename xxgg2_pda.bin to i600.bin and run phase1....bat.
you get all nb0, payload , extra and "dump" with one click
2. cook your rom with the tools in the directory
3. click phase3...bat
4. flash it with wce downloader

I have removed all languages except polish (extra added) .
All unusable mui/dll/rgu/dsm etc. files are removed ...so the acces to the all aplication is faster

I've tested polish rom, it works faster and more stable, but there are some problems with sms reading and reciving, after hard reset and install- for example office wm6 I'cant recive any sms. Before install any aps - some times I can't open message from topic menu and I must restart phone.

aha...you dont read the "redme"...
after flashing go to "\my documents\my data" and instal "instalacja"

I have "Instalacja" installed.
When sms incoming - backlight on, but inbox is null and there is no way to restore incoming massages

All works fine for me but there's only one problem - I've installed SDHC driver, after a soft reset the Storage Card is not mounted to my card but in / is a second folder for microSD card - Storage Card 2.
Also in the Task Manager the capacity of my storage card is wrong, it's copied from the device storage....

heeh, I've fixed this problem:
1. remove your card
2. remove the Storage Card folder
3. put back your card

In Card Wheel there's a bad translation - 'all day' is translated to 'wszystkie dni', for me the correct translation is 'cały dzień'.

I have the same problem. What can i do. I still have the original ROM dump from my phone, can i put onli the phone part from there? And haw do i obtain only that file from dumped result files. I think that is show in the first post but i can fiugre . Can any body help me pleas?
Before my Samsung i600 was with a Vodafone branded version of WM5. I'm from Romania and the original ROM was:

Upgrade to original WM6 from Samsung, that will change your boot and radio version. After that, flash your i600 with the modified ROM.

I don't have the original ROM from Samsung. The online upgrade is no longer available now .
I have the saved ROM files with the method posted here (part00.raw, part01.raw, part02.raw), but i don't know what to do with this files.
I don't want a modify ROM anymore, i just want to work, even with the original WM5, but i don't know how to do that.
Can anybody give me some advices?

The drivers for my i600 was the problem.
I have downloaded the Samsung Composite Drivers and it work.
The drivers can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...968&page=40, at post 400.
It seems that Windows failed to found the drivers for the phone part of my device, without notice me about that, that was the reason why the device failed to download the phone part.
I will try to **** my own ROM now and see what's gonna result

Hi. I've used dumprom to backup my original ROM. If I decide to reinstall this firmware with the Samsung MultiLoader, which file is the Boot (.nb0), which the PDA (part02.raw, renamed in pda.bin, I suppose) and which file is the Phone part?

i would like to play with this trix software. where i could get it. nevermind i will take a look on the link in first post. One more thing i want to ask, if i change any setting in ini files, and put it back to the phone using stune, the changed setting donot take effect. is there any way to avoid this. Like i had find the setting where samsung has put a limit on multitasking of java app to a max of 3 app. i have changed it to four but it didnt work. since i have installed many app i dont want to reset my phone. is there any way??

I know and I understand.
But Security is not easy to bypass or to disable with sTune...
Depend on exact file you play with sTune.
But except following:
1.
Wave has Security to prevent easy changes like:
Writeprotections (no replace nor delete possible)
Directories are most NOT delete able...
2.
Few *.ini files are stored double/twice... in User and SystemFS folder.
Shadow Backup to prevent change...
3.
Some *.ini files stores Data in database files...
This is the reason why I investigate time in Firmware files. Here are *.ini files not protected.
Flashing modified *.FFS, *.PFS, *.CSC or *.APP higher chance to bypass Security and successfully change Settings.

afaik there's no tools to extract S8500's rc1..
I discovered something about the fileformat of S8500's rc1...just few things, but I can't continue the work at the moment because I'm very busy with a university programming project
it doesn't use the DCB structure, but it has a structure (of course, you'll say ) it's just more complex than DCB

I found few parts of ZIP...
Seems few files can be found via sTune...
First try to overwrite some Bytes at Start with FF leads to nearly blank screen at PIN Input Screen...
But I mixed my T-Mobile Branding with JI5 RC1 and now I know why I never found f. Icons.

Don't know if this can help, but for the Samsung Star I built an utility for the extraction of the resources inside the RC1 files of the firmware (well only images and swf files actually, and in "strange" ways - I think that Samsung forged the headers of the files included inside the RC1).

It can also replace the resources found.
I've testested with the firmware posted here and it works with the CSC, FFS and APP files. I haven't any RC1 file for the Wave to test.

Languages are in CSC file... the first 7 MB... also QMD compressed, but...

Does tool give you access to admin settings? I am trying to disable AMR half rate (5.90kb/s) voice codec on my Wave so it only makes calls using AMR full rate (12.2kb/s). Have you found anything related to voice codecs?

It may be useful tool: Qualcomm & Broadcom MultiManager. It is for Samsung Star, but allows you to conveniently edit the .rsr files and decrypt firmware files without PSAS.

JB6 uses IMRC ... "same" like QMD...
RC1 and first 7 MB of CSC are Images. Mounted into RAM as Image.
Boot-> Decrypt + Decompress and only hold in RAM
NOT written into moviNAND...
So only encrypted and correct compressed QMD file is only chance to change something...
Maybe one day we could remove this protection...
I have no idea if QuB Fullversion can rebuild valid QMD files...
We should ask the Developer...

Sorry, but I don't understand very well what it means... This ia a method of encoding? But, if I understand correctly modify the first 7 mb of CSC today is impossible, because we can not decrypt/encrypt this file?
I found Samsung GeeXtractor 0.7i with english interface, but still doesn't open 32 bit rbm file.
And maybe you find usefull another tool for samsung handsets, BinEdit - hex editor, ARM disassembler/debugger and many more for ARM-processor code. I found Deutch lang file, you're from Germany, right?
P.S. About QuB, "trial vesion, full version" - it's only joke from developer, QuB_public_v.0.3_001_beta is the full version and the other does not exist

WaveRemaker can handle also CSC QMD part like RC1... at this time only cut before extract...
QMD is Header... End of file is before CDABCDAB
So we could study/compare some CSC ...

Hmmmm...
for instance Admin.rsr from S8530 KD6 (bada 2.0) and from S8500 JL2 (bada 1.2) is same. KJ1 also... and also bada SDK 2.0
Admin.rsr from S8600 is different...
So it seems useless for S8500/S8530...

I tried to overwrite QMD in XPKJ1 CSC and then flash that file to the phone
I know that this probably won't work but strange thing that i got hash check error in multiloader so i wasn't able to even test this
there was a 5 mb difference between old and newer CSC
Any ideas how to disable this check ?!

I have insert from QMD to 0xCDABCDAB...
So you have remove from start and 1024 Byte from end...
Now see carefully... if smaller then KJ1, then maybe fill with FFFFFF difference, to have same size...

Minimum at end of whole file and as you can see, uploaded QMD part ends also like complete Firmwarefile...
