Did you know , you could do this on Windows Phone - Windows Phone 7 General

You can Automatically put a Call on Speaker using Voice Command

Good find, thanks!

Found it but only by accident.

Oho, very usefull, i'm gonna try it on lumia 800

Very cool. Anyone know if you can answer a call on a sleeping phone with a voice command? That would be handy for an incoming call when driving. Something like "answer call on speaker".

Or you can just click the speaker button.

I always accidentally put it on speaker mode using voice command but never knew how to actually trigger it

Or, you know, just drive the car?

Why dont we make an exclusive thread for discovering features like this?

Well I'm glad they did, I had no idea you could do this. And it saves from that second of looking down while driving to hit the speaker button (sometimes it's just not an option to pull over).

I sure hope you're not driving in the Miami area. Ever heard of bluetooth?

but its always an option to not answer the phone

Well after some Minutes I figured out the German command:
I didn't work for me very well, he told many times, that he can't find the contact, because he recognizes "lautsprecher" (ger. speaker) as part of the name.
"ruf X an auf Lautsprecher" (ger. "call X on speaker") did not work at all, I had to say: "ruf X an, Lautsprecher" (ger. "call X, speaker") but even that didn't work very well, like I said above.
Anyway, good to know that there is a function for that, but I think I will still use the button for that.. :/
Thanks anyway!

Cool

Press the Windows phone button and say " What can I say" when it asks you to speak. You get the complete list of commands that you can say to you phone.Be sure you scroll to the left and the right to see the other commands other than call.

I remember stumbling upon this by accident when I said "Call Michael R." but slurred momentarily afterwards, and then my WP responded by saying "Calling Michael R. on Speakerphone". Cue epic "WTF?". Still, it's an impressive feature to have.
A thing for headset users (like I have the HTC headset for my TITAN), the "Play/Pause" button on the headset may also be able to trigger Microsoft TellMe. A tip for this though, if you're planning to do this I recommend going to Settings -> Speech -> and make sure "Use Speech when the phone is locked" is checked.
P.S. I do have the contact's full surname in the entry, but have simply put the initial there for the purposes of respecting his privacy.

thanks for an information thread

The way windows phone handles voice commands over Bluetooth is one of the big selling points for me. I like the way it reads out SMS over my car speakers and gives me the option to respond by voice. I also have an HTC one x but never use it in the car (I.e most of my working day) because I cannot find an android app that replicates this function with the ease if use that wp has built in out of the box.
(P.S. before any flame wars start, I am not not knocking the One x or android, I love the hi Def screen, some of the games and the text ref low in the browser, the industrial design is also second to none IMHO.)

So after having a listen to the response to pressinf the centre (windows button) and saying "What can I say?"
You can do the following (some things are more obvisou that others):
"Call xxx" - preforms the standard call a contact. The only difference is that the first time you say a contact name you have to select which of their numbers you wish to associated with their name.
"Call xxx, mobile" This way you are accepting they have more than one number so you could choose to say call and a different phone type I assume.
"Call xxx, on speakerphone" Well this one is what started this thead in the first place.
"Redial" Another pretty obvious one really.
"Find xxx in xxx" Find something somewhere.
"Find Weather in xxx" like Siri on iOS proving you weather info.
"Open xxx" or "Start xxx" Enables opening an app handsfree. This works well with "Hey DJ" which is a handsfree music player. (Nice!).
"Text xxx" I like this one, as it enables you to text someone handsfree.
During a call you can start speach and say "Call" to call another person or "Press" to press a number.
Hope this helps those that haven't or don't want to listen to the "What can I say?" response.
This is based on using a Nokia Lumia in the UK.

Bluetooth Voice Dialing

Am I missing something obvious? Is there not a way to press the button on my headset and say "call _____ home" etc? I could do this on my old WinMo phone, my palm before that, etc.

No you're not missing anything..Apparently Google doesn't feel its important to use voice dialing over bluetooth in Android so it hasn't been fixed and it doesn't look like its going to happen anytime soon..
You would think with many states adopting laws against talking & txting while driving they would make sure the feature works but who knows..

[Q] Disable bluetooth double tap redial

Greetings!
I have my Desire running MIui GB and it is fantastic.
I prefer using a bluetooth headset rather than talking to the phone directly.
The problem comes when the headset is inside a pocket ,and its buttons are pressed.
On a single button tap i had voice dial popping on the screen.
There were false matches by the voice dialing app and random calls were made.
This was easily disabled, simply by deleting VoiceDialer.apk from the ROM.
The other problem that i haven't found a solution yet, is when the button of the headset is pressed twice.
When that happens, the phone redials the last number, bypassing any lock screen. It is happening quite often actually.
Anyone knows how can i disable that?
Bluetooth headsets are suppose to go on your head, not in your pocket.... seriously.

Does your headset have key lock? Or u could buy an extra pocket for the headset.

I found a workaround by chance just now. After I installed dialer for JAJAH service that I use I got a dialog asking what program to use after clicking BT button.
As long as i don't select USE BY DEFAULT it stops at that dialog and doesn't dial.
Please all, lets keep it on topic and with respect.
Thanks for your cooperation.

Prevent voice actions from calling people via bluetooth?

Sup All,
forgive me for the easiness of this question but Ive been looking for a while and cant find an answer. Its definitely different on ICS, than other/all android builds. So, is there a way to prevent voice actions from being enabled when you press the button on a blutooth headset? Even a way/app to reprogram the button press shortcut? I was listening to a podcast, pressed the headset button to pause it but I guess I double pressed it or something and it opened the voice actions window, which I wasnt paying attention, mumbled one word and it called an ex. SWEET! I hung up and am pissed this is a "feature", as, Im sorry, the voice actions alone are not that up to par, and on bluetooth, theyre atrocious. Any ideas? I like and use the google search button but Im not very impressed with the dictation of text messages, etc. The voice recognition just does not seem to be up to par, Ive gotten some pretty "are you kidding me?" results when trying to text via voice. But of all things, I dont want to use the whole "call blah blah blah" feature, or any voice "actions" over bluetooth. I want to keep voice search (like only for web searches, etc) but I dont want my phone to interpret what I say and then dial the non-appropriate number. Any apps to reassign the voice actions button or just disable it as a whole? I love the GNex but this ruined my night and Ill die happily if I can have bluetooth in, press the one button and not be worried that its gonna dial someone. Also, Im using a bose BT2, so it doesnt have all the nifty apps like a jawbone or what not, but I like the call quality. Im pretty sure a jawbone has an app that can change the hotkey presses but thats not applicable to me.

If you mean voice recognition then yes Android has had this feature since day 1 however if you mean personal assistant then no, you will need to download an App from the PlayStore.
using the google widget mike, the my hox will respond to commands such as call and text to contacts already in the system (i admit i haven't tried it with anyone not in my contacts list). if you say go to or open, it will bring up a menu of choices, some of which are mind boggling. the call function responds very quickly, however, and seems to be quite efficient.
Not tested it? Since i switched from iphone to HOX I have been nothing but disappointed in the voice control. The headset button long press is non existent?
The headset is supposed to be a handsfree device!!! So why can't you hold the button and make a call?
If I met the HTC exec that thought it was a good idea to disable that feature I'd beat him to a pulp - and yes i have read that they chose to disable it!!!
I don't want a third party app. I don't want a bluetooth headset.
I want to use the phone like I have used every other iphone or HTC I have owned before!
Now if people are saying their headphones button works then taking mine back to shop.
This is such a simple feature, why disable it? It feels like the they took away my civil rights the retards.
Stick to iPhone if you want SIRI..
For me, I used Speaktoit Assistant to help me arrange things..If you don't wanna use third party app, don't use it..i don't have any better words..

I don't want Siri - i just want working voice dialling without having to go and buy a blue-tooth headset which I constantly need to charge.
I actively support third party apps - but this is something that should be smartphone users god given right! A simple voice dial!!!!
If someone has a confirmed app that works with HOX then I will buy it!
Whats wrong with google search if you just want voice dialling or sending a tex..
all of android phone have voice command. But it doesnt looks like siri.you can try it when write a message.Just say something.Your phone can write it auto
Why do people not get it?
Ok this is the scenario-
You are walking down the street, on your bike or in the car. You need to make a call - you long-press the headset button and you hear a beep. You say the name and type of phone you want to call either mobile or office etc and away you go.
How hard is this to understand - its called hands free dialling. Iphones have done this from day 1 and my htc Desire HD could do this but not the amazing One X?????
And for the last time I don't want bloody siri. I just want to voice dial. How hard can it be????????????????????
I don't want to see the phone or have to touch it. Cyberon voice commander almost does this but it wakes the phone up to do it. So then I have to take the phone out of my pocket and lock the screen again. Or better yet, the call gets ended because its in my pocket and the wrong button gets pressed.
Am I really the only person out there that wants to make a handfree - legal when driving - call???? :crying:
Hello, when you open the phone keyboard you have a microphone.
Touch it and say the name of the person you want to call ...
That will do what you need, i think.
Just don't know how to do that on "one click", and the microphone button is quite small ...
Really? That kind of makes no sense as I don't want to have to touch my phone.
In the UK you get fined and 3 points on your driving license for using your phone when driving unless you are using a proper hands free kit.
This is the sort of thing that will always keep android in second place - no class!!

In france, it's the same. Law is quite severe with the "hand used phones in car" here too ( 4 points and 90 € ).
But, from here, if the phone is on a "hard" support linked to the dashboard or the windshield,
it won't be considered as a illegal use of phone in a car. Lot of persons looks to ignore that ...
Don't know how it is in UK but there is a chance it is the same as here ...
The only systems i know that don't need any "touch action" are the embedded systems in the cars,
like parrot systems or car brand "stock" systems and to be honest i think there is still a "call button" ...
On a phone, you will always have to touch it to activate the voice recognition.
For understandable battery lifetime reason, the phone won't stay alert on microphone unless you make an app or an action that do so.
For example TapTapTap activates the proximity sensor permanently to unlock the phone by a movement on the proximity sensor.
That app surely drains the battery even in sleep mode ...
And how do you won't call somebody by inadvertency if voice recognition is working "alone" ?
You will need a shutdown "voice call" button ... and so need to touch your phone
PS : I like to touch my HOX as much as possible, so sweet screen
Just put the latest icey Jelly bean 4.1.1 and surprise surprise the voice dialing works on the headset.
Obviously htc have seriously messed with the phone and ruined the voice dialing. At last I can keep my phone and stop regretting not getting an iphone.
Go Android!!!!!

Is it true that the HTC One X+ (or any HTC One phone) ? We know how to use the microphone and the voice search to do voice calling, but the main issue is we want to be able to use a bluetooth earpiece with mic to make a call. My husband rides a motorcycle and wears his headset to pickup incoming calls, but can't tell the phone through the earpiece to call someone. He has to pull over to the side of the road and use the voice commands on the phone. Is there a third-party application that we can use to allow him to tell the phone to call or text someone from the bluetooth head piece (in this case the motorola oasis)??? Is Android or HTC fixing this?
