Greetings!
I have my Desire running MIui GB and it is fantastic.
I prefer using a bluetooth headset rather than talking to the phone directly.
The problem comes when the headset is inside a pocket ,and its buttons are pressed.
On a single button tap i had voice dial popping on the screen.
There were false matches by the voice dialing app and random calls were made.
This was easily disabled, simply by deleting VoiceDialer.apk from the ROM.
The other problem that i haven't found a solution yet, is when the button of the headset is pressed twice.
When that happens, the phone redials the last number, bypassing any lock screen. It is happening quite often actually.
Anyone knows how can i disable that?
Bluetooth headsets are suppose to go on your head, not in your pocket.... seriously.

Does your headset have key lock? Or u could buy an extra pocket for the headset.

I found a workaround by chance just now. After I installed dialer for JAJAH service that I use I got a dialog asking what program to use after clicking BT button.
As long as i don't select USE BY DEFAULT it stops at that dialog and doesn't dial.
Please all, lets keep it on topic and with respect.
Thanks for your cooperation.

Hi All
Im wondering if any of you guys can help me.
I regulary use TomTom on my XDA Orbit and also use the speaker phone to talk on the phone as I drive. I have a problem when I receive an incomming call wilst running TomTom. The notification appears on the bottom of the screen telling me the is an incomming call, but Its a bit difficult getting from TomTom to the phone screen to switch on the speakerphone, without either dropping the call or quickly answering the call, then quit tomtom, then activate the speakerphone. I dont want to use the supplied headset and i dont have a bluetooth headset. Can anyone give any tips? Maybe a taskmanager wich cyles through the active programs using one of the buttons on the side of the phone??? Clutching at straws now maybe??
When a call is incomming, press the green answer button, quickly, and then press and hold it again.
Thanks for your reply. I will try this and let you klnow how I get on.
Cheers
Works a treat. I Have now also mapped the VJPhoneShortut ("Speakerphone ON") to the GPS Button on the handset which gets rid of the 3 second hold (not always easy when driving). Thanks again.
I am using an 8125 with Slide2Unlock and the Iphone dialer pad. Even with the standard dialer phone pad, if I want to stop using the headset during a call I must use the menu button at the bottom and select "Turn Hands-free off".. There are times that I do not want to use my BT headset or vehicle hands free unit. I would like to know if anyone had extracted that command and if it could be placed on the "in call" dialer skin as a hot button, like hold or mute, without having to go through the menu to access it. I don't need anything fancy that toggles the bluetooth on/off, in fact I would like to leave that unaffected. Simply a command that shortens the finger strokes of going through the in call menu and setting the handfree status.
Thanks in advance to brain tank.....
Does anybody have any ideas????? Please would really like an app like this....
Please Please...really want an app like this but I have no idea how to make one.
Thanks
have you tried holding down the green call button whilst in a call? Works on my SPV M1000 to turn speaker phone on....
A
Speaker phone is not my issue, I want to toggle between Headset and Handset while in a call. Like pressing menu/Handfree off.
GC
I tested a today plug-in which did it, unfortunately I don't remember the name. AFAIK it is the only software capable of doing it while in a call, so.... hope you'll find it
Hi Guys,
Does anyone have a solution for the problem that the call button on bluetooth headsets won't work anymore with the TP2?
I use it in combination with Voice Command which worked flawlessly with the Touch Diamond, it's also been set to the same (and only) hardware key as the diamond but it won't work on the headset!?
It works fine when you press and hold the call button on the phone though...?
thanks!

When you say it works fine, do you mean through the BT headset, or just through the speakerphone?
P.S. I had an opportunity to talk with someone at Microsoft, and the response I received was "it's a known problem" and "wait for the next update or next version".
Alas...
i've edited it..
Strange problem cause the diamond had the same windows mobile version?

It's nothing to do with the WinMo version, it's a different BT Stack.
I have been playing with it today and will post an update in the tweaks thread once I have it patched.

Its not the BT Connection with a headset in general. That function works fine. I've tested it with my bt headset. Pressing the button I can accept the call and/or redial.
The problem lies within Voice Command itself. Once installed it gets assigned to the one and only hardware button configurable (hold call button for 3 seconds). The problem with that is when I do that with my BT headsets (normal and motorcycle one). They get powered off by pressing them for 3 seconds (same button). xD
I disabled Voice Command though due to the ringtone volume bug. Every 2 seconds the ringtone gets low for an announcement that you don't hear. Still waiting for a proper fix without all the work of replacing files.
I was looking for the original voice dialing function. But it really isn't there on the TP2. Voice Command is much better though. But damn that bug.

Sorry to disappoint you chrix, but the same hardware button (also hold) is used with the Touch Diamond.
Like I said they both look the same but with the TP2 it doesn't work, i'll be looking out for your patch beasty!
Another suffering TP2 user!
Hi guys,
I am also suffering with this issue as well. I did try and see if an old registry hack worked (changing HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand path=\Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCmd.exe) but it didn't unfortunately. As previously pointed out in this forum, I think that this issue is more down to the fact that HTC seemed to have replaced the Bluetooth stack with their own proprietary version which isn't bad by all accounts, but does seem to lack this functionality. I might try and contact them to see if there's an update to resolve this but if someone does manage to create a patch for it, I'm sure there's a number of us who would be interested!
Cheers,
Barry
I installed voice command as well.
I'd already used the send button to put my lock on so it gave me another button (see attached).
Any body Know where the button is.
Hi All,
Just the other day my speaker phone stopped working. I can hear the people I am calling, but the microphone doesn't seem to work. They cant' hear me. Not at all, it is like I have the phone muted-- but it is not.
Any body else with this? Any ideas, besides hard reset to try?
Thanks

There are loads of software apps that could interfere with sound, have you installed anything recently that you can remember?
have you applied any "tweaks" that you can remember.
Does it only happen when on speaker-phone or during normal calls.
It may be worth removing the back cover to make sure that nothing has interfered with the Mic Mute button on the rear of the device.
Give us some more info an I'll try to help further.
Cheers,
Beasty
Hi Beast0898
Here is a list of software that I have installed in the last 2 weeks:
CarlosP ToneManager
cRaCKwHoRe's Snooze options
merlot mToolbox
Shubaroo Contact Fix
tarkim Keyboard controller.
I had not used the speaker phone for a while. Not since I installed any of the above, so if it is a software interference, it could be any of the above. Ideas?
The mute button is not blocked. And it happens when I enter speaker phone by turning it upside down, and when enabling it with the button on the dialer.
Any ideas?
Did you get it to work? I've encountered a weird problem recently myself where suddenly all system sounds seem to stop, including dialing tones etc.. but if I let the phone go into speaker phone mode, that does work. I hang up the call and suddenly sounds are back.
It seems to only happen when I use Groovefish and/or Nitrogen, so I wonder if one of those is causing some weirdness, just haven't pinned it down yet.
if this is the same bug I had on mine, you can either toggle the speaker phone button twice or do this:-
There is an easy workaround for this problem. On your Touch Pro 2 go to the home screen. Slide to the "Settings" tab. Tap the "Menu" softkey and choose "All Settings". Tap "Personal" then "Phone". Open the "Advanced" tab and change "Reduce noise in phone calls" to "Never".

Here is a fix without turning off noise cancellation.

Hi,
I have the Rogers version Galaxy S Glide (Android 235), non-rooted as not allowed in order to use it for work email.
Using Motorola S10-HD stereo bluetooth headset.
When paired and connected, pressing the BT Call button does nothing.
Holding the BT Call button performs a redial of the last number.
I've read for other devices with Android 2.2 or higher that the Google Voice Dialer should start when holding the Call button but it doesnt. It will only start if I hold the search button on the phone itself.
Any confirmation from others or suggestions to make it work?
Thanks.

I am using a Nokia BT headset but working fine, can you check on Settings > Wireless and network > bluetooth settings > [Moto S10-HD] > tap and hold, and see if it's connected with "Phone" and "Media"

Yes, both "Phone" and "Media" are listed in the BT settings and both are ticked.
Have tried repairing with no change.

Do you have access to another Bluetooth headset you could try with the phone? Maybe there's something wrong with your current headset.

I just tried a Nokia BH-104 but it also doesn't start Voice Search/Dial.
It also acts slightly differently to the S10-HD.
Call button press - nothing
Call button long press - nothing
Call button double press - last number redial

Oh now this is becoming a real challenge. I also have Nokia BH-104 and I will, in all my best, try and replicate your issue and see.
EDIT: Positive! The call button on both my Nokia Headsets does not trigger Voice Search.....I can only redial my recent called contact via double press.

I gather we are stuck?
Is there an app that allows remapping the BT call key to start another app, even though this function should work standard to start Voice Search?

I have a Motorola T505 in the car and it works well just that it does not work if the phone is at the lock screen. Needs to be unlocked for the call button to work. I assume you already made sure the phone was not at the lock screen. Just wondering is their anyway to make it work with the lock screen still active?

Did a bit more testing.
I installed Vlingo, then something changed.
Instead of nothing happening when pressing the BT call button (Motorola S10-HD), now I get a choice:
Vlingo
Vlingo In-Car
but still no Voice Search option
I then found this App in the Play Google Store called Bluetooth Launch.
It allows you to assign any function to launch when the BT headset call button is pressed.
Now I get:
Bluetooth Launch
Vlingo
Vlingo In-Car
I set Bluetooth Launch to start Voice Search and it works!.
Vlingo is not a bad option either since it can be set to start listening on launching.
However, I realized all this only happens when the phone is in wake mode.
If its asleep, nothing happens, so you still have to touch and wake up the phone then press the BT button.
So still not totally hands free.
Asleep or locked the phone does not respond which is quite annoying when driving. My old phone (Windows Mobile 6.1) alloud voice dialing even though it was locked. I loved being paired with my Bluetooth as I still could do everything via Bluetooth. Sucks that Android which is so powerful does not work well with BT.

Did some more searching and it appears that the move from Froyo to Gingerbread changed the way BT call wake up works.
When the phone is secured with a pin or pattern to unlock, the BT call button wont wake it up..
I did have a pattern lock enabled, which I've since turned off.
Now pressing the BT call button while the phone is in standby wakes it up and runs Vlingo straight into listening mode waiting for a command.
So seems to work OK, just that I cant have a secured lock enabled.

Ya I have seen that it works as you mentioned but I like having the lock pattern and was hoping there was a way to get Bluetooth call button to work even though the phone is locked. Kind of sucks if there is no way around this. The whole point to the Bluetooth is that the phone can stay in my pocket locked so as not to press any buttons by accident and I can make calls from my Bluetooth device.
