[Q] edit the MSL on AOSP - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

How do you edit the MSL on AOSP rom, If you can't put digit codes on AOSP roms to enter your MSL Code ???

I'm pretty sure you have to go back to el29 to do that.

I agree any touch wiz Rom will work. But you have to really know what you are doing with ICS.

On touchwiz its ##_____## on aosp its *#*#_____#*#* if your talking about the dialer codes.

But on aosp you can't do anything. When it asks for msl you get that modem error.

Why are you needing to edit MSL? Just curious because if you go back to 29 you are better off to stay where you are unless you need to...

It asks for a lock code, NOT MSL. No one knows what this is so far.

Lock code for ICS I believe is 777468. Sfhub posted it on the 3rd post of his FE07 Odin one click. Not sure if its the same for AOSP though since his thread is about a TWiz rom.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk

If you are wanting to edit msl use cdmaws or qpst.. If you are trying to access dealer codes.. Try a few working hiddenmenu.apk's..
And that is the correct lock code for ics.. I think all prerelease versions

[Q] Getting my MSL

How do I get the MSL for my phone without contacting sprint? The MSL reader on the market doesnt work. Is there another way?
Using terminal emulator type in getprop ril.MSL
It will give you the msl.
Ps this has been asked many times before, please try and use the search function or Google in the future and most of the time you will find your answer.

how come this method does not work for my rooted SII with Blu Kuban rom? I tried it a bunch of different ways it doesnt work. I used the two apps on the market it doesnt work. My pandora isnt working and I need to update my msl

Which kernel are you running? Head to that thread and see if there were/are known issues. I know there were some issues with latest kernels, but not knowing what you're running, no one is really gonna know. There is also a get msl fix thread.
Try the app "get my msl" if I remember right that's the one I used on this phone. "msl reader" isn't compatible

Another way flash to GB
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
If you are on FI25 or FI27 you will need to flash the MSL fix because the toolbox in the newer builds does not allow you to use getprop ril.MSL
You can flash the fix or wait until I upload my ROM which has the FI03 toolbox so there is no need to apply the fix. I still have a few things I want to work on but I should have my ROM up on XDA by the weekend.

##DEBUG# Check Lock Code?

Solved! Lock Code is "SPRINT"
It's been a long time asking a question in here (I'm used to answer the questions but I'm asking a question at this time )
I'm using Calk's FC18 Tweaked version and tried to do so something thru ##DEBUG#.
From the other ROMs that I used before, I need to provide the MSL code and it worked.
But in this ROM, something has been changed. System asked for 'Check Lock Code' and need to provide the different code that I don't know.
Does anyone notice this change? Do you think it's because of Sprint Hotspot hack?
Does anyone know how to get this code?
Thanks in advance for you help!
[Update]
None of code works in here (through the web surfing)
FC18 Stock ROM is same - need to provide 'lock code (not MSL)'
FC07 - same - asking lock code
yea I tried this to when I was on fc15 and it asked for a lock code I tried putting in my msl and nothing. Same thing with fc18.

I'm using AOKP, so I can't check, but there is a field for Subsidy Lock in the QPST Service Programming utility on the Settings tab.
Getting to it is similar to uploading a custom PRL. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267893

Thanks for posting. I've checked the link and the information loading the custom PRL. I think it's not related in here. I'm not talking about the MSL. MSL does not work in here. So far, no way to get into ##DEBUG# mode.

What is the exact purpose of the ##DEBUG#? bunch of options to play with and mess up haha but whats a GAIN to the ##DEBUG# ????
Changing the Mac address for 4g that's what I need it for and other stuff

I am having the same issue... not sure what the unlock code is.
I would say maybe its looking for your one time msl code which is different from the regular. Maybe your phone number also. I know they have a developer id in the settings. There has to be a way through terminal to gain access to the lock code

One time MSL code does not work in here. I've already tried it. One can get the one time MSL code from QPST screen. It seems like any codes from QPST do not work.

Try this...go the data menu in the dialer and get to the point where you have to enter your msl. Enter 6 zero's and hit OK. The pull a logcat (you van use alogcat, free from the play store). Scan through the lines and your correct msl should be in there...it might work, but worth a shot.

Do this open dialer type ##72786# select edit type 000000 let it fail hit home key, select terminal and type this (case sensitive)
getprop ril.MSL
Hit enter and then it should show a six digit code in between the first line where u typed and the new cmd prompt. It'll be squished up on the left inbetween the 2 cmd lines. It works rooted or not on all twiz roms ive tried, on the sprint s2, s3 and note 2. Another way you can get it is to either go on sprint.com and choose to activate the phone online and put in the msid when it asks and then write it down but dont continue activation or just call customer service and ask them for it 9 times out of 10 they won't even ask any questions they'll just look it up for you
I like to break stuff!

Have you tried this method??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745888
You can also try to Open the voice dialer and say "Open APNs" and then choose "Open APNs" from the list that comes up. this is what you need to update for the mms right? the APN's? i am pretty sure you don't need the MSL using this method. Just not sure if it will work.
Also, i think you have to have USB debugging and adbshell active in your settings as well.
Trying like hell to help you here man!!

I am downloading the file as I type this, but I was wondering after you flash this file and got your MSL, did the phone auto update to the latest versions of everything automatically? I am having the same problem, my phone was flashed to Boost, but I need to fix my MMS settings. No method I have tried has been able to give me the MSL. I am on a stock root.
Here are my specs:

I just really wanna know if my phone will go back to all this after the downgrade?

[APK] Enhance Streaming Media on the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3

This should work with Sprint users as well as those trying to flash it to another carrier. Sprint tries to route streaming media such as Youtube and Pandora through their own servers. This bypasses that. Please let me know if you have issues.
The great thing about this application is that it DOES NOT require the SPC to be punched in vs if you tried to access this area via ##data#.

It's probably only required for TouchWiz based ROMs.
same thing happened to me running aokp rom. Yeah it must be only TW roms.
May be we need to be on a TW rom to do this change and then get back on an AOSP. Just like the PRL update thing. Just a thought.

If memory serves me correctly, in AOSP you can't access the dialer menus (i.e. ##3282#). If that's the case then this won't work on an AOSP. This app does the same thing if you go into the ##3282# menu and zero out the proxy sever settings. The nice thing is that with this app, you don't need to know what your MSL number is.
