Hi. I'm new to this forum, so I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong section or if it has been asked again.
I'm currently running stock firmware XXKTI (nordic countries) on my GIO. I've just looked on sammobile.com and noticed that a new firmware (XXKTK) has been released for my country (Romania).
They're both based on 2.3.6, so I was wondering what's the difference between them, based on your experience. The available languages are not an issue, since they both have the same CSC.
Are there some performance/battery life enhancements in the KTK, since it's more recent?
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I'm new here and bought a version of Galaxy W sold in Brazil, which is I8150B, not I8150.
Is there any differences between them? I've searched the entire web and found nothing about it!
I want to flash a custom ROM and I only see ROMs to I8150 model; I'm a bit afraid to flash those ROMs in my phone and lose any capability.
Thanks in advance.

LOL... Same here joaocadide... Good to know I'm not the only one...
I have the same question and so far I haven't found what the difference is...
When I bought mine December last year it came with 2.3.5 and my Baseband is different: I8150BVJKJ4.
You can flash any custom ROM available here, but you're gonna lose pt_br systemwise. Only pt_pt, English and other languages from Asia or Europe will be available.
Not a problem for me and some optimized ROMs are quite good, but since you already have 2.3.6, if you are not in a hurry to experiment, wait for CM9 to come out with ICS (it may a while though...problems with cameras and bluetooth are being worked out AFAIK).
I tried to install some ROMs from I8150 in my I8150B (actually they were Kezra Value Pack 1.1 and Black Notes Hybrid roms).
Everything seemed to work fine: 3G, GSM, Wifi...
But I messed with some configs (Zram and Vsync stuff) and the phone got very slow and didn't turn on again.
I'm going to try some new ROMs from I8150 version. I think it is okay.
The problems are that there's no PT-BR language for the system and Swype (I really love Swype) and it lacks the "Código da operadora" option in "Call" menu.
Easiest way to flash stock ROM on Galaxy W - GT-i8150B

Man, I was looking just for this thread, about difference of i8150 and i8150b. I flashed some custom ROMS. Really loved the RebelROM Milestone 2, it is based in CM9 and have no problems with cam and wifi.
The problem is losing pt_br and swype. I thought I could try a custom ROM, to see how it works and I tryed. But it seems that I will have to wait CM9, unless that there are another custom ROM multi-language
Sorry, I just realized that this custom is not based in CM9. It just use CM9 themes. In fact it is based in black notes hybrid xD
Awaiting the delivery of my INTL N7100 and was wondering what others in the US are doing in regards to updates to the stock ROM. I have seen at least 1 thread where they set update region to the US and eventually started getting OTA updates but I am still unclear if this really works to get the latest from Samsung. If you are a user of the N7100 in the US what are you doing?
Also if it am sent an Asian or EU variant of the N7100 can any of these be flashed with the UK Rom?
P.S., Rooting is not an option for now. I want to stay bone stock with the ROM.
Thanks in advance!
You can flash any international note 2 with any international note 2's software from among the 126 supported.

Download Samsung Kies (full version, not just wifi). Install it and then connect your Note 2 via USB. When it fully connects it will show any stock ROM updates available. I have an international Note 2 in the U.S. and this works fine for me and I've received a few ROM updates in the last couple months.
Cheers

Out of curiosity which countries stock rom do you prefer, and does it have US English localization or UK English. For instance favor vs. favour.
Thanks again for all the replies.

I think mine came set up for UK English, but you can set it for any language. And you don't have a preference for ROM updates -- they're all the same.
Hi,
I have three quick questions to ask. I have scoured this site but can not find definitive answers and so would be grateful if someone could help.
1/ What does build number 'jz054k' denote? I restored my N7100 to a stock UK BTU 4.1.2 rom from Sammobile and instead of the build N7100XXDMB2 showing, it now shows as 'jz054k.N7100XXDMB2'. When the handset was orignally stock, it showed as 'N7100XXDMB2' , without the 'jz054k' prefix. Does this prefix apply to all stock roms from Sammobile?
2/ Do the stock 4.1.2 images from Sammobile include a stock recovery, meaning you don't have to separately flash a stock recovery first?
3/ Why does the OTA update screen (Settings > About Phone > Software Update) change appearance depending on version of 4.1.2 installed? Do custom 4.1.2 roms change the appearance of this screen? Please see attached screenshots for the two sreens i've had displayed on my handset today. The first is from the stock 4.1.2 rom and includes the option to update over WIFI, the second only includes a 'check now' button.
Many thanks for any answers.
1) google doesn't name the firmware like xxdmb4 they name it like jz054k or something.
2) yes. No need to flash stock recovery.
3) yeah many custom roms do that. I don't think Sam mobile will upload a custom rom though.
Can you link to the file you flashed ?

Thanks for replying.
Yesterday, i had a fully stock N7100 running BTU N7100XXDMB2 4.1.2. I then installed the latest Philz Touch 4 recovery and the Android Revolution HD 12 rom. (I am now stock again though thanks to Sammobile).
I was not aware that the software update screen would differ between custom and stock roms (i realise that OTA only works on stock devices). I thought that this part of the Android settings just stayed the same. I would miss the option to disable the auto-check and wifi only options.
Thanks.

Hi,
Yes, i do know that which is why i have removed it.. for now.
It was just the software update screen differences which were confusing me as meant to be close to stock.
Thanks.
Hi together,
here is the latest (checked: 28.11.2013) Samsung-Stock-ROM (EUR, Germany)) from December 2012
I8150XXLMI_I8150DBTLL1_I8150XXLMI_HOME.tar.md5
(packed to *.zip-archive, so unpack before flashing with ODIN)
Its directly extracted from the temporary folder of KIES.
Hope this helps people when there is need to reset to stock.

It's simply the latest one - i recently flashed back to stock because of an warranty-issue, and i found it hard to find out which of those dozens of circulating ROMs was the newest one.
Sure nothing major has changed compares to the out-of-the-box-rom, but i guess most people that go back to stock / need to go back like to choose the newest one.

I found 4.0 to be much more fluid, performant and appealing than the Stock-ROM, while the versions 4.1 and above seemed to have lost a noticable piece of agility and responsivness compared to 4.0.
I guess that 4.0 performs really great, only drawback for normal users is the camera, which is still a little bit buggy and sometimes does not work, due to the driver model issues :-/.

Does any of you guys use the VPN function? Can anyone confirm that it works on stock rom? I flashed my phone as soon as I got it and never tried the vpn with 2.3.6, but tried with 4.0, 4.1.2, and 4.2.1 and it doesn't work well in this versions.

Sorry, never used it. But i would also guess that if a ROM does implement it properly, it should be this one.

I'm using this one too before even if it doesn't for my region and nothing really is significant, just some ICS features.
8150XXLM8 or Value Pack stock firmware (update via Samsung Kies) is being rolled-out only in Romania and Slovakia. Made for devices that can’t be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, this Value Pack includes some ICS-specific features, like Face Unlock, the ability to change font size (in Contacts, Calendar, or Messaging), and the ability to take photos while shooting video.

The provided ROM is the latest one at least in Germany.
I do not know how the rollout for the value pack was made for other european countries, but e.g. in Germany the value pack was alreasy delivered with a previous update.
Hi guys, I have T999 I am on Likewise 4.1 dtmo and currently on the T999UVUENC2 modem/bootloader, which is version 4.3. I have not updated my phone in a while and now I'm searching the forums and have 2 questions:
1. Should I update my bootloader/modem to T999UVUEOH1? I have read that it fixed the stagefright bug. (I found it on sammobile)
2. Some ROMs in the ATT section, such as the S3 R3ARMED, which is also made for T999, call for the use of a 4.4 modem and bootloader, but there is no such thing available to us. How can I proceed to avoid a brick?
Thanks!
I just updated it and there is nothing new. Just keep calm and stay at NC2, i will test it's performance and battery life

Why don't you download the stock rom from SamMobile?
Btw, this stock rom is WAYYYYY better than NC2. Better performance and very good battery life
