I had a Rezound and swore it had the worst battery life ever...until I got this phone. I went to dinner and the extended battery was at 20%. I looked at my phone maybe 10 minutes tops during the first hour, and it died on the table. Horrible.
At least I'm not the only one. soon as verizon gets another phone I want I'm selling this thing. I know four other ppl with this phone and all their battery's suck. I mine went dead while watching YouTube with my phone connected to the wall charger

I bought the extended battery on sale with a discount for about 20 bucks. I'm carrying a spare battery in my wallet. The back of the phone is so easy to pop off and on...I'm keeping the slim form and have 4000mlh worth of juice
I'll see how long this last before I think about extended batteries or getting rid of the phone. Lol.

first of all calm down!!!!!!!!!!!! i have used every OS out there and i prefer android. im using franco kernel with aokp m5 just like you. i started this thread to see if other ppl's phone does the same as mine does. i thought something was wrong with my phone. all you hear on the rom threads it GREAT battery life with 4-5 hrs of screen time and i only get 1-2. so i thought my phone battery is messing up. you must not use your phone if it last you that long. i can unplug my phone at 6am and by the time i leave work at 3 its down to around 35%, and thats mostly just standby time. the stanby drainage time is what pisses me off. just to give you a little info my iphone 4 with the ioS5 battery bug would drop to 40% by 11. jgalan suggested the Motorola because it has a 3300 battery unlike our phone.

my phone is a verizon, never had a phone die while being charged.
here's my two cents, i switched from sprint to pre paid tmobile. I honastly believe GSM phones handle lower signal better than CDMA phones, I do not know if this is fact but it seems true to me. With my sprint phone at work(constantly one -two bars) battery would drain by lunch, on the other hand my gsm galaxy nexus( which only gets edge inside) would last the day and with moderate usage as a mp3 player.
Take my gf's sprint iphone she gets only 1x at work and her mighty iphone needed the case with the battery to get through the day, while her friends AT&T iphone rock solid

Yeah and isn't it smart to just change your battery for a larger 1 or get another battery? But keep all the great things about being pure google? Lol change the best phone for any other crap just cuz the battery (wich in my case i do just like any other phone cuz I put time to get things to work) its just not the right thing to do.
In fact im draining 10% every 30 screen minutes wich its just awesome...

I am here to share my experience to get 18 (around 5-8 hours screen time depend on your usage) hours normal usage, browsing chatting, facebook and calls.
2 days if you are not touching your phone at all, standby.
follow my guide, I think it's all about the Kernel but I shared the rom I used too just in case.
this guide is for GSM, might work on others just download the proper rom and kernel.
Optional, you can underclock to 1ghz but I didn't and got 18 means more if you underclock it.

point 1: when you go to 1GHz , it's called underclocking. undervolting is when you lower the voltage for the corresponding processor frequencies.
point 2: 18h , but what about screen ON ? how much is the "normal usage" equivalent to, in terms of screen ON and the stuff that you're running on your phone.
it's nice to see you trying to contribute and thumbs up for the effort, and i really don't want to sound like an a-hole, but this is not a guide. flashing a custom rom + kernel, and letting the battery go through a few cycles cannot be considered as a guide with battery saving tips. Cheers mate.

You are right, but I learned now ^^
well around 8 hours normal usage of screen time (screen awake), and when I am on a phone call and the screen is off it toke 1% every 10mins
pardon my English
delete this reply cuz I don't find how.
Yah I hate to be that guy but where's the guide? Everyone uses their phone different. You should at least show your battery usage screen shot so we can see screen time etc.
What? Are you telling me that you get 8hrs of screen on time? Is this trolling or just a language barrier?

sorry, I wiped stats but you can study this.
just look at my charge time compared to the times I am using phone, and because it last longer I don't care when its red and low, I was in 5% from 9pm to 11pm chatting from time to time and facebook, and btw my wifi is always on.
and pardon me I am new Xd I am just sharing something not an expert or something but next time I will make sure : it's called underclocking <- I though both are same, and post screenshot and screen on time
EDIT: I think I should charge it to 100% and make it drain then share pics with you guys, that's the proper way for screenshot right Xd? cuz mine looks like a mess XD

Your phone was plugged in multiple times throughout your screenshots. So yes, you should redo screen shots from 100% and include display on time.
It doesn't really matter though, as no one will see your same results unless they use their phone the exact same way.
And under clocking is unnecessary on the nexus, it doesn't spend hardly any time at 1200mhz anyway. I use mine for a lot of game play and still don't spend much time over 691mhz (Trinity kernel). So if my phone decides it does need to ramp up to 1190mhz to remain buttery smooth I'm not going to interfere.

I'm not understanding why you prefer 1.5 trinity kernel and 307 gpu. What benefit are you seeing versus the other trinity kernels with higher gpu and lower overclock limits? Are you running your phone at 1.5?

Same here. I have no problem getting 18 hours out of my stock battery using the stock ROM and kernel, including just shy of 6 hours of screen on time.
I dont know that I would call this a guide. Its saying to use a certain rom and kernel and to charge the phone. . . . .
hey thanks for the write up... i used it alone to change the colors! now my screen isn't yellow.
question though... when I adjust my colors manually, when I go to 0 percent brightness, everything goes like super green... like crazy looking lol.. but at 3 percent it's fine again... any idea why this happens and how I can fix it to get true 0 percent? thanks!

I'm using a stock one and all I can say is: Just dont use Nexus as a videogame.
I got 3 days and some hours of battery talking some minutes and using wifi for some time (probably 4 hours overall).
Playing sucks up the battery life. At least for me.
A normal day of use, with wifi active, many calls, auto bright and SetCPU profiles gives me 'bout 18-24 hours of use.
A intense play day gives me 8 hours. And I think its generous.

Terrible battery life
I'm not completely sure why but for me it has been terrible. Drains to less than 40% in 5-6 hours. I at first thought it was the overclocking I did, then I set the max CPU speed to 1024 MB and it's still terrible battery life. I have wi-fi and data off most of the time and the phone not being used and it still drains this bad. Can someone help me? I've tried a few different governors under the CM9 settings now, which is best? I notice that wi-fi and the screen are using the most power. Why does wi-fi remain on/drain power even when the screen is off? Sense managed to save my battery and make it last for like 2 days (as mentioned in the OP) by turning off wi-fi and data when the phone was asleep/locked. Also, I used auto-brightness on Sense and got the 2 day battery life. Auto-brightness on CM9 seems to be KILLING my battery.
Someone help me get max battery life out of CM9 for my HTC One V (CDMA) please!

Actually I had other reasons to wait including concerns about my first flash.
I did end up flashing last night, but not based on the in-depth experience your 1-line reply to this thread described. I actually had any questions I had answered on the IRC channel by a few devs which was highly appreciated.
I don't think there is anything wrong with people waiting for even more stable versions and commenting on that as such. Maybe instead of trying to provoke me through insults you could have tried to convince me. Otherwise your criticism is useless without any sort of construct so please keep it to yourself.

Exactly what app did I say was sucking my battery? Oh right, I didn't. I asked for help on how to get max battery life with CM9 (like how I should tune the settings) and of course I get someone who thinks they know everything coming in here just to talk **** on someone else. Why did you even bother to post dude? You just wanna call people out and put them down. Does that make you feel better? Insulting people via text on an internet forum? Real cool man... Who's the real mr. perfect here?
That being said...
The ONE AND ONLY issue I have with CM9 is that it seems to be draining battery way too quickly. The first 2 posts claim to get the same battery life as with stock rom (about 2 days). Can someone (someone who actually wants to help here, not someone who just wants to laugh at people who don't have EVERYTHING figured out and perfect like they do) please tell me how they have set up CM9 to get 2 days battery life. I really really like CM9 and the only thing keeping me from using it is this battery drain.

Well, I use JuiceDefender to switch off wifi and 3G when the screen is off. Also, I don't use autobrightness, opting instead to set screen brightness to 20-30% (which is still pretty bright IMO). Been getting 1 and a half days out of the battery with low-mid usage (texting/calling/checking Facebook & Twitter)
However, I've only been using CM9 for about 5 days, so you might want to take my advice with a pinch of salt. Hope this helps anyway.

This doesn't really make sense?
Are you asking a question?
Or telling us something?
For the battery, not much you can do could try getting an App such as Juice defender but alot of the time they chew more battery than they save.
For your router, buy a new one?
For a quicker browser experience I would try Opera
Hope I helped.
Congratulation, although I don't consider Nokia as a bad brand and actually I fell Nokia is more like a RIM and focused towards business users.
About your wifi, if the signal is consistent than perhaps like you said, it's your router fault.
Also, check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579392 (You better start from last pages).
Also, you need to be aware roots app won't work without it. For the core controlling wait Jelly beans it seems HTC had a similar app already bundled with it.
Good Luck

1115$ = 2000 Turkish Lira and its very much. Smartphones at turkey is almost twice as expensive as usa or uk(thanks to taxes). As a turkish person I always buy smartphones from non-gsm and trustworthy places:good:

Hayırlı olsun.
For the battery, there are some simple thing you can do; but first you have to clarify what you mean by "what to do with the battery"?
Do you wanna treat it well to have a long lasting battery over months/years, or do you want to use it economically so that you can have a longer battery life for every re-charge.
The first one is easy. Never let it shut down due to no power, always re-charge before %10; and charge it more frequently during the day, not draining it all and recharging back to %100.
The second one is tweaky and after years, I've lost my faith since the time wasted to learn and use that battery saving stuff and also the brain damage, is not worth it. totally my own opinion.
Just try to use Wi-Fi is you're at home or at work for long periods, swtich to 2G during those times, lower the screen brightness as much as you can and shut down vibration where possible.
One thing though, as the word spread about HTC OneX+ arriving, most of the sellers have reduced the price for One X, around 1600TL (which is roughly $880). Did you but it from 2000 TL recently? If yes, that should better be bought on an agreement with Turkcell, if not then you paid a little more =)
Agree with all the battery advice above. This is good information.
Would also add to steer clear of task killers/ managers. Your phone will manage apps itself (though I know a lot of people think it is a bit aggressive on the one x). If you are constantly going in to shut down apps, your battery life will actually take a hit. Just leave it to settle down and do its thing.

Armenian here Speak turkish fluently, Parents from istambul also.
I have two HOX's both international, One is in repair, my backup though is wonderful when it comes to battery life, I also agree those battery savers, and task managers really dont do anything in my opinion, its more trouble then its worth. My HOX thats in repair didnt do very well with battery, its rooted and all, but battery really sucked, but when I get it back I'm going to do a bit of digging. My backup is amazing, currently 14 hours and still have 63% battery life, and I have really done nothing with the brightness or anything like that. The battery will really depend on your usage. If your going to play alot of games expect the battery to drain rather quickly especially with 4 cores. I dont play many games really, and heavily mainly talk, text, and play games maybe 3 or 4 times a month. From what I've seen, the battery doesnt take too much of a hit until you go past roughly 15 mins of playing an intense game, at which point the cores start to heat up and the constant screen being on which drains the battery quicker.
Also I would suggest dont use too many apps that sync in the background, thats another battery killer. And as great as live wallpaper might be, thats another one that drains it. If you use data as someone said try not to and use the wifi, I dont use data ever and have shut it down and just use wifi.
But based on my two Hox's I have to say I think build quality of the phone has a big part to play in the battery life, but I am going to do more testing on this once I get back my other phone from repair.

Battery life on android is way below the performance on symbian. But you have much more flexibility and apps on android then symbian.

You remind me the good old time with my Nokia phones (big like a brick) that could last 1 week with one single charge
Killing apps to "free RAM" (why do you need it free?!?) and preserving battery are two mutually exclusive things. My advice is to stay away from any automated task managers and accept the fact that the only way to preserve battery is to use your phone less.
BTW you could've come to Bulgaria to buy the phone - it would've cost you much less

Hey guys
I've been using custom roms for while, when i suddenly realize i have some Crash -
Issues with my
Samsung Galaxy W 4.1.2
Currently Using the Parandroid 2.99
with a 2.6.35.14 CM Kernel by camcory
It simply crashes after a while using it,when i reboot it it shows that my battery has maybe 30 percent or less left.
Waiting 2 minutes my battery shows 67 % for example when i try to use i then it crashes again... or even freeze... *sigh
however i tried flashing a new rom ; wiping the davlik cache ; and wipe battery reset , it still doesnt help...
Does anyone have an Idea where the problem is or better how to fix it??
P.S sry when this thread is posted wrong ,im new here rly couldnt find a topic which suit for this
(btw funny Im a noob Video )
greetz thevuhu
i think u need new battery
A good suggestion is you going pristine, unless your battery is fat, then change your battery.
My phone usually have these problem too, its 96%, I flash something new, wipe stuff, goes into launcher its 14%.
But mine doesn't crash.
Does this happen to other ROM?
Thank you for your help so far
im not sure if my battery is fat or not , well i have to admit it doesnt look that perfect anymore , cuz its slightly "blown up"
do u mean that with fat??
Does this have any dangers for me or the hardware of my galaxy?
yeah i flashed around 3-5 roms already... same issues with all , and it always crashes when i the ram usage is increasing , but as long as i kept my galaxy charging nothing happens at all...

Yes, that's a "pregnant"/"fat" battery. Check if you can spin the battery easily on the tabletop.
A good battery is not just flat, it even has a small 'concave' surface.
When your battery can spin easily on top of a flat surface, it's time to buy a new one.

Usually a Lithium battery lasts only around a year, mine is only close to that and its slightly fat too.
Not compulsory, OEM is just as good as long as it doesn't look like its from China LOL(as a chinese I do not feel proud, but oh heck I'm not from China)

Original is good, but the capacity is kind of small...
There's a thread in the Accessories subforum discussing a high-capacity 2900 mAh battery. Try take a peek there.
