I am here to share my experience to get 18 (around 5-8 hours screen time depend on your usage) hours normal usage, browsing chatting, facebook and calls.
2 days if you are not touching your phone at all, standby.
follow my guide, I think it's all about the Kernel but I shared the rom I used too just in case.
this guide is for GSM, might work on others just download the proper rom and kernel.
Optional, you can underclock to 1ghz but I didn't and got 18 means more if you underclock it.

Which Trinity kernel and AndroidMe rom version have you been using?
TNP1536-307-JB-STABLE35
TNP1420-307-JB-STABLE35
TNP1344-307-JB-STABLE35. Do you think this one would be a good choice to save battery?
Thanks.

point 1: when you go to 1GHz , it's called underclocking. undervolting is when you lower the voltage for the corresponding processor frequencies.
point 2: 18h , but what about screen ON ? how much is the "normal usage" equivalent to, in terms of screen ON and the stuff that you're running on your phone.
it's nice to see you trying to contribute and thumbs up for the effort, and i really don't want to sound like an a-hole, but this is not a guide. flashing a custom rom + kernel, and letting the battery go through a few cycles cannot be considered as a guide with battery saving tips. Cheers mate.

You are right, but I learned now ^^
well around 8 hours normal usage of screen time (screen awake), and when I am on a phone call and the screen is off it toke 1% every 10mins
pardon my English
delete this reply cuz I don't find how.
Yah I hate to be that guy but where's the guide? Everyone uses their phone different. You should at least show your battery usage screen shot so we can see screen time etc.
What? Are you telling me that you get 8hrs of screen on time? Is this trolling or just a language barrier?

sorry, I wiped stats but you can study this.
just look at my charge time compared to the times I am using phone, and because it last longer I don't care when its red and low, I was in 5% from 9pm to 11pm chatting from time to time and facebook, and btw my wifi is always on.
and pardon me I am new Xd I am just sharing something not an expert or something but next time I will make sure : it's called underclocking <- I though both are same, and post screenshot and screen on time
EDIT: I think I should charge it to 100% and make it drain then share pics with you guys, that's the proper way for screenshot right Xd? cuz mine looks like a mess XD

Your phone was plugged in multiple times throughout your screenshots. So yes, you should redo screen shots from 100% and include display on time.
It doesn't really matter though, as no one will see your same results unless they use their phone the exact same way.
And under clocking is unnecessary on the nexus, it doesn't spend hardly any time at 1200mhz anyway. I use mine for a lot of game play and still don't spend much time over 691mhz (Trinity kernel). So if my phone decides it does need to ramp up to 1190mhz to remain buttery smooth I'm not going to interfere.

I'm not understanding why you prefer 1.5 trinity kernel and 307 gpu. What benefit are you seeing versus the other trinity kernels with higher gpu and lower overclock limits? Are you running your phone at 1.5?

Same here. I have no problem getting 18 hours out of my stock battery using the stock ROM and kernel, including just shy of 6 hours of screen on time.
I dont know that I would call this a guide. Its saying to use a certain rom and kernel and to charge the phone. . . . .
hey thanks for the write up... i used it alone to change the colors! now my screen isn't yellow.
question though... when I adjust my colors manually, when I go to 0 percent brightness, everything goes like super green... like crazy looking lol.. but at 3 percent it's fine again... any idea why this happens and how I can fix it to get true 0 percent? thanks!

I'm using a stock one and all I can say is: Just dont use Nexus as a videogame.
I got 3 days and some hours of battery talking some minutes and using wifi for some time (probably 4 hours overall).
Playing sucks up the battery life. At least for me.
A normal day of use, with wifi active, many calls, auto bright and SetCPU profiles gives me 'bout 18-24 hours of use.
A intense play day gives me 8 hours. And I think its generous.

To all the heavy users out there: I'm interested in hearing about the battery life of your phones under heavy use. I figured that the Display On time in Settings>AboutPhone>Battery>BatteryUse seemed like a good measure - the amount of time the phone display is on before battery runs out. Also, I usually have wifi/3G on almost all the time. To make a start here's mine (mostly browsing):
ROM: 2.29.405.2 WWE
Time: 4 - 4.5 hours
I'm quite happy with the results, though I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on this. Thanks.
i got about 4 and a half hours of screen time over the course of 2.5 days... tons of texting.
Great, which ROM are you using? My 4.5 hours was over the course of a day. I might consider flashing a custom ROM as soon as I can get my hands on a class 6 micro SD. The battery gives about 5 hours of on time for games, watching movies and other non data stuff, which is pretty decent I think.
Same here... 4,5 h is a good value. If I dim the screen for at-home-use (6% brightness via quicksettings) I might get 5 hours.. a lot of network/wifi usage or gaming of course decreases the lifetime...
BTW: I'm on LeeDroid 2.2f
i am using defrost on the 6.0i HAVS 1113mhz kernel BFS.
probably best rom around. really fast, and i can use 20% brightness and get 2 days worth no problem. hope this helps!

Hi guys!
This One X is very performing smartphone, games are really pretty... But I can stand that battery problem! I've tried so many rom, using setcpu for ondemand governor of the Tegra3... But I still not have so many battery life!
Can you guys suggest how rom, kernel or something else can save my battery?
Generic suggestions about this problem... Now I'm using Jdroid exodized 3.0.3 with bricked kernel v0.2, but battery is so draining... 63 % of battery with 1.37 hours of screen.. 4 h 22 min on it! =(
Hi!
I see a lot of people complaining about battery life, but if you take a look around you'll find the thread where people posted their battery usage. Me - I'm using rooted OneX running the stock ROM and am more than satisfied as far as battery life goes. I do 15 hours with ease. If I try to save it it usually lasts for more than 24 hours. Maybe you could try stock rom + root ... maybe a little underclock? I've been hearing underclock is quite the juice saver.
Hi,
I am the same I have tried custom Rom's but they claim to improve battery life but they just move the tegra 3 powersaving driver into the correct place!
I have a unlocked O2 HTC One X with O2 Rom and flashed battery fix and rooted the device!
Using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597227
I have managed to setup a shortcut using widgets on the screen to select how many cores I want to use. I find that using one core clocked at 1.5GHz is fast enough and I don't have much lag! This has helped my battery massively! This is because O2 still haven't pushed through the HTC updates yet!
And also using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630200
I flashed this using CMW and this has also helped.
I also find disabling some stock apps using App Managment in Settings, also using CPU spy from the Play Store and Battery Usage in settings. I can find the apps that use the most CPU power then uninstall or limit their usage (maybe using the internet instead of a dedicated app) this then has the phone stay in Deep Sleep for longer. I can easily get through 24hrs without having to try to save battery at all! I sometimes have almost got two days without charging!
Another tip is in the Usage app you can Restrict Background data over the network although when you connect to your WiFi it enables it again. Although it is meant to help save your Data it can also help your Battery Life.
Hope this helps!
Steven
Thanks for the answer!
I noticed that, in this Rom that I'm trying, I've the Screen that consume a lot of battery, even in the lowest brightness mode. Not using WiFi, 3g data, autosync, nothing, only a lot of text message received and sent. I think that this S-LCD2 consume a lot of battery or maybe the software of HTC, this time, is a loot poor of balance with this expensive hardware.
Do you think I can improve battery life with the tips that you said? I'm using this ROM right now http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597778.
Setting CPU to ondemand governor 304 mhz min and 1.5 ghz doesn't help me? I must disable some cores? I can give it a try, hope that this tips can be made in this AOSP Senseless Rom.

I'm asking myself [ and you ] if this screen consume really a lot amount of battery... Or there is some problem with my one x... Reaching the 3+ hours screen on is a good result, but in a 15 h battery day life, I hope... Maybe I can reach disabling a couple of processors
Don't worry about the screen, it will always take a lot of power whatever you do! It isn't worth messing with it.
You don't need to mess with the CPU although personally it does make a diffrence to the battery, I don't notice it too unless I am gaming!
Maybe an app is preventing your phone from going to deep sleep whilst the screen is off
Try using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bvalosek.cpuspy&hl=en
If it says that your phone hasn't been in deep sleep, We need to try and find the culprit. Once you have done this maybe post back and I might be able to help you sort this out! It took me a while as I had this problem but it was definatly worth the effort!
Try looking in battery in the settings and see if there are any apps that are using a lot of power (maybe take a screen shot) and also try in Data Usage, there maybe apps using the Internet whilst you aren't using the phone. This also wastes the battery. If you restrict background usage (only on certain apps) it will only use the Internet in the background whilst you are connected to wifi only. Facebook is a good example!
Hope this helps
Steven
If you don't understand anything please say, I know my explanations are awful but I will try my best! I think I have changed everything here to fit your rom!
The rom itself although you or the developer know this but the overall system could be causing a problem! (just a theory!)

You're too fine with me steven, thanks!
I've downloaded Cpu Spy and it says that my one x has been in deep sleep for 70 % of time, so there is no problem with some apps doing something during screen off. My problem is that when I'm using all 4 cores, without internet via wifi or 3g, without autosync, nothing at all, and screen at lowest brightness, there is still a drastic battery drain while I'm using only Message app a lot. I don't wanna think that my HOX have a fault battery, but how can I test and prove it ? I don't know if there is a program, app or test for doing this thing.
Now I'm with that ROM Senseless AOSP ICS, I will try next charge with two cores actives only and view how much I can stay with that SetCpu settings. I'm using this settings: 101% Battery <, CPU Max 1Ghz to 51Mhz and priority 100, governor ondemand ; screen off, CPU Max 1Ghz to 200 mhz and priority 100, governor ondemand. I'll give you the result soon.

I agree that you should not use set CPU although you are best using ondemand as that is only using the amount of power you need, interactive keeps the speed high to increase the overall speed. (not good for battery life) also maybe, my mothers Samsung Galaxy S2 had battery problems and she got 6hrs of battery out of her phone at max, she always carried her charger around.
I calibrated the battery without using any software, I just fully charged the device and left video/audio/maps on to get rid of the battery as fast as I could and then fully charged the device. All I am trying to say is give this a shot (I did this when I first got my phone) she now gets on average 2days battery life! I know that it can take ages but it is defiantly worth the effort!
Hope this helps
Steven
Also, how do you find that ROM it looks great. I think I might try it!

You right. I was experimenting those days. Besides it was 30 min per day - 15 min of screen time (checking email and reading news) and 15 min of voice call.
This test also shows that there are no rough apps on my phone which could eat battery on background. And the ROM is pretty stable. What would be your results in similar scenario?
If you have read my posts - one day I had 7:40 hours of screen time (was reading ebook) and had 40% battery left. This is another type of usage.
So power consumption is vastly different depending on type of usage... if say you are looking YouTube through 4G your phone will be dead in 2-3 hours...
I have posted results of power consumption during different type of usage so one can compare more objectively and not against "OMG this ROM/app are so good" statements.
Don't have any stats to prove it other than experience but after a few hours on Jedi Mind Trick I can already tell it's being great on battery compared to any AOSP based ROM and it's SNAPPY fast!
For some reason it reminds me of the Darkside GB based ROM Digital Warfare (this thing was crazy good on battery!).

I'm on rooted Stock ICS and get 6-10 hours of battery life depending how much I'm using my phone whether it's on facebook, twitter, foursquare, instagram, textin etc etc.
I don't know that I've ever seen this explicitly stated by anyone, so I thought I'd ask straight out.
What kind of battery life is everyone getting?
On average, say, per hour, with moderate use how much battery do you lose?
Are you stock or rooted? What ROM and kernel if rooted?
And... GO!
Screenshots welcome and encouraged!

Everyone's is gonna be completely different. Most will post in the roms what they are seeing on avg. There's to many variables that go into that to really narrow things down. Just my opinion on that.

I understand that everyone is going to be completely different, that's the point. The idea is that if people were to post a wide variety of conditions, along with their battery-related results, others can try to tweak their settings closest to what fits their needs.
Yes, it is easily found amongst the forums for individuals ROMS/kernels, but why not put together a one-stop-shop for reference?

IMO better to keep with the Roms/Kernels (Under development) or someone may mistake and try to add something to a rom that doesn't work. Just my thoughts, I understand the goal, and I'm always looking to improve upon my battery life for my use. Haven't had phone a day yet to have any real results yet to mine.. We'll see how the world chimes in on this too tho..
Current: The Peoples Rom, 69% battery remaining, 6 hrs 14 min on bat, 1 hr 20 min screen on. Just to start it off a bit.. Will update this evening.
I'm stock non rooted with fairly heavy useage and Juice Defender free and I'm sotting at about 9 hours and 15% battery

On wifi, about 4 minutes per percent of battery for screen on time + 2 hours per percent for extra screen off time. This is with the screen brightness very low though.
So, about 400 minutes of continued usage or 200 hours of standby.
Odex blue 1.2 ROM, Google Now off, report location in Maps off.
Alrighty, now we're rolling... Here's where I currently stand:
5h45m on battery - 47% left... Heavy use today though.
AOKP Rom, KToonsez kernel - undervolted and slightly underclocked.
Charging my phone now. But yesterday i got 27 hours before reaching 25%
ROM: Stock Jellybean Touchwiz (rooted of course)
Kernel: Ktoonz kernel for touchwiz (using Ktoonservative/noop stock voltages n touch boosters disabled)
I'm stock and can get 24 hours+ with about 3+ hours of screen on time easily. This is with brightness at about 80% and no battery saving options on.

Avg around 25-26 hrs.
SlimBean w/ KT747 kernel
Under -50mhz, UC to max around 1200, cm9 auto bright settings and juice defender
-SlimBean...the bulimic's choice for the Galaxy III
Just a full days usage and still half my battery left. No custom kernel or stuff like that. CM10 and that's it

So this might not be the forum but hopefully someone will take pity on me and point me in the right direction.
As u can see. This bad boy ain't even sleeping. If not for juice defender i wouldn't make it through the day with moderate use. Now I'm in the islands where there ain't much good service to begin with so this might get a Lil tricky. Also i am unrooted. If that helps. I think it's an app but i guess i need to find another app to find the app that's the culprit. Thx in advance.

Hello. Not sure if this is the correct section or not. But here goes.
I was running rootbox 4.2.2 and kt747 kernel. Along with baconatorx something script to apply settings to second core. I was getting roughly 3 to 4 hours screen on time. Great!
Recently I installed slimbean 4.3.1 after hearing so many people say it has the best battery life. With the according 4.3 kt747 kernel. I applied the same tweaks etc but at best I can get 2 hours of screen on time. Maybe there is a new script I'm unaware of.
I use my phone frequently but not heavily. Just phone calls SMS and abit of chrome. Can anyone give me some advice. Or someone with some working settings with the combo I have? Or should I just go back to what I had?
Any help would be great.

Thanks. Just tried out your settings on my setup with the badass gov and slightly more under clock. And that's all you done?
I'm on 34% and only 1 hour 25 min screen on time.
And its 3rd on the list in battery stats.
I might be wrong but should cell stand by and phone idle be on top for battery usage? This is driving me nuts I have to carry my damn charger during the day.
I will report back after a few cycles.

What I am putting down below are purely from my view and my observations over the past few years.
There could be multiple issues:
1. Your battery might be getting old. On 2.8 I set the record at a whopping 7 hours display time (battery less than 6 months old). On the same ROM I was getting barely 2-3 hours (battery near to or over 18 months old) a few days before I flashed 4.1. So when I got 3h45m today, I consider that a pretty good battery.
2. You signal levels at home, the areas you roam, and at your work/school. These too kill more. Example, battery discharges slowly (when idle) at home compared to when I am at work cos of low signal levels at my work place.
3. Maybe there are too many background apps.
Example: Kik, Facebook, Google Plus. These are known battery hogs. You either uninstall these or freeze them when not needed. Your battery will thank you.
4. Kernels don't suit every phone. What works for me might not work for you. Example: Kernel of 2.8 people loved. But for me it drained battery crazy. I used Kernel C of prior version of ROM. Try out multiple, but give atleast 3 days to validate each.
5. Most importantly, do no UC too much. A phone spending 10 seconds at 1000 MHz could need 30 seconds at 800 MHz to get the same task done, and this could actually drain your battery more. For me, after using multiple phones on multiple ROMs, I found speeds between 800-1200 quite satisfactory. This is the reason my clock is normally set to 1000 as max.
6. I barely UV. UVing a little aggressively might seem to extend battery a little, but in the process it kills the phone processors and other parts. This is because they are getting strained working with lower currents than recommended. Also it is a normal practice to actually send a little more than needed currents to phone processor to avoid phone being shut off.
Our devs here who make kernels already reduce the voltage to sustainable levels to improvise on the kernel. This is also one reason why I don't bother about UVing any more.
Sorry about being lengthy and boring :victory:

Lengthy but not boring at all. ill try to add some more info on my phone and its setup.
1. my phone is less then 6 months old. 2.8 what? kernel version? 7 hours id poop a brick. lol
2. my signal strengths haven't changed at home or at work. I work outside lol however at home i do have a mountain behind me. literally a cliff side and i always got half signal since i got the phone.
3. i got the background stuff kicked. got greenify running and i have it hibernating just about everything it will let me.
4. ok this brings me back to what i was thinking originally. maybe i should just go back to what i had with rootbox 4.2.2 + kt747 kernel and scripts.... was trying to avoid this lol. 4.3 must just not jive with my phone.
5. i do have my voltages under volted 50 across the board. i have had the odd random reboot. my clocks were always either 1.2 or 1.0 ghz. never did oc or uc too much.
i will set my voltages back to stock after a few cycles.
also i run fs trim. supposed to stop lag or something. i been running it on all my devices so i figured i may as well follow suit with my s3. i also renamed mpdesion.
my standby time is still good. ill get 2 days on weekends when im not using phone much. but screen time is still less then 2 hours.
i just finished the first full charge with what u recommended. so lets see. heading out for 10 hours here soon. lets see how it does!
My bad! All my references to ROM or kernel versions pertains to Intergalatic ROM and its kernels. Sorry, I should've mentioned that.

Thanks for your time. I've tried your settings for a few cycles. 3+ hours battery. And 2 days total. Not bad!
I have a question. I'm reading on that intergalactic ROM, and it says about certain bootloaders. One is non reverse able or something. I've read on it and I can't figure out what one to use. My phone is on telus if that means anything.

Thanks man. I downloaded the mj2 boot loader and mjb modem package. Do I flash this prior to the ROM? And say I choose to go back to slimbean, do I have to do anything to reverse this?
Sorry I just never had to do this on my nexus 7 or ace Android devices . I just wanna make sure I cover all bases. I kinda miss a two based ROM and after hearing your success with battery on it. Its obvisouly the ROM and kernel combo for me. Games I could care less about, I use my phone for texting Facebook and browser. And I go long periods without access to charger.
Thank you so much for all your assistance.

Yes. Following the same sequence of steps mentioned there. I too did the same.
And rest assured, once you are on this, I don't see a reason you'd even want to go back
Until this release neither we had to do all this boot loader thingy. But with the latest release Samsung did something that created all this mess.

1. Try updating your TWRP.

Thanks. This wasn't my issue. I needed the i747m boot loader mk5. Intergalactic thread op directed me to it in the s3rx thread.
About to install here soon, backing up and doing a nandroid just incase.. Im going to go With kt kernel and your simple adjustments.
I see u were using 1 15 kernel. I got 1 18. Shouldn't make a difference?
What are u getting now for screen time?

That was very dangerous. Sorry, I too should've asked. Had it gone through, you could've ended up bricking your phone. Whew! Missed by a whisker!
And I flashed 1.15. I am not sure of 1.18 'cos I haven't installed it. But newer version should be better.

Hey!
So I ended up leaving that tw ROM for now. I made a nandroid so I will try it again.
But I'm here to report my new setup and battery stats.
I'm running slimkat rc2 with the latest ktoonsez kernel.
I'm using your settings in ktweaker but I ended up back on koonservative gov and enabled hotplugging.

We are all so used to getting good battery, it hardly matters anymore, unless someone posted a hard-to-believe 10 hours on stock battery.
