Reboots by root methods - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

It seems that out of the quick boot app and titanium and a few other reboot apps it seems titanium responds the fastest. is there a way we can adjust how fast the phone reboots on a quick reboot?

Not really, without kernel source or an official ics release for tmob the reboot issue will persist, since all we have is leaks and ports your best shot would be the newest skyrocket pics port which seems to be working the best of them all

he's talking about rebooting in general, not for ics... which can be fixed with the darkside cache wipe.

Oh I see, but quick boot did work fine on gingerbread for me, yet you're right about the darkside cachewipe.zip, it fixes most of issues afterward, ever since ics leaks and ports came out, if gb is not mentioned it seems obsolete, even I find it more stable than the stage ics is for our device

Simply AOSP v4 GPS/MAPS BROKEN

GPS force closes shortly after setting a destination, and maps is near useless without it.
Anybody else have this pproblem? I have the same issue on 2 Epics, mine and my girlfriend's.
Many thanks.

Use a different rom or telenav. This has been a VERY documented issue in the simply aosp rom thread as well. There is a fix in the works

Thanks for the quick reply, I just never heard about this issue I guess.

Going to be working on the update for Simply AOSP 4.x, and the gps/nav fix is hopefully (barring any unforeseen issues) going to be included.
There's already a workaround (turn volume off on GPS) and a fix (push a few files, located in the thread in dev) in place.
But yes, this is supposed to be fixed in the next relelase which will hopefully come along any day now.

Assuming you're one of the AOSP devs, thanks for the heads up. Great ROM aside from the aforementioned.
I'll be sure to keep my eyes opened for the next release.

Meh, I'll pass on the SRF. Regardless of the GPS issues, I absolutely love AOSP roms. It was one of the first I flashed after entering the realm of Android, and it's the current one I'm running on mine & my girlfriend's Epics.
I'll just stick with Hotspotting my GT10.1 and using the GPS on there, for now. The map looks WAY better on that huge screen, anyways.
Thanks for the input though.
In case you haven't seen it yet, we posted the 4.01 update for Simply AOSP, with 4g hotspot fix and the gps/nav fix.

Data not working!!

Just wondering why my phone basically went off the grid because one second I was using the internet having a good time. A little slow as 3g sucks ass in my area but now its gone to an incredibly slow crawl taking ten minutes to load Google and another 5 to load a damn simple search. Friend has a crappy evo shift that's getting insanely fast speeds and loading things fine. Same network same house anyone know what's up?

I think your best bet would try and do a fresh re-flash of your current ROM (using Calkulin's format all) , or Odin to stock then see if the issue still occurs. Of course make a Nandroid Backup if you do.
thanks I'll try that but I'm thinking the cyanogenmod 9 alpha 3 first. Been waiting on that for a while

That's fine, I was just saying the current ROM in case you wanted to stay on it. Perfect time to give any other ROM a shot and start fresh.
Just be careful and read the instructions first.
I flash other roms all the time thats not the issue feom what i understand teying to flash different modems till u find the one that works best is the way to go i have flashed about 5 so gb modems seem to work better fyi u can use ics and gb modems on a ics rom but if u r on a gb rom u cant use ics modems
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
never knew that I liked the look of gingerbread tho so I might switch back. I only got ics cause of the hidden nyandroid Easter egg lol kinda dumb reason but still awesome to me
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
There is no way I would go back to gb ics is so much better even with the bugs I just need to find the right modem i guess flash a new one and run speed test or something it drives me nuts that my data just stops in the middle of something im doing
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
But I am going to work on it tonight so if I find a solution I will post about it

Should I stay in Alpha 2 or update to 3?

I am getting awesome battery life and everything is stable and no restarts. Is it worth the upgrade to alpha 3? Just wondering as some people have been posting bad battery life.

I always say if its good no need to fix it

I decided not to upgrade to alpha 3. Alpha2 works very well for me.
New is always better but not so sure in this case. Stay
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk 2
I see no reason not to. I've heard issues with random resets or Sleep of Death with A3, but I was getting that with A2.
I really want to, but don't feel like going through all the trouble. I had to go through hell to get GPS working with alpha 2, and I don't feel like having something go wrong again. I will update when there are major advantages, or when they begin including an easy to use CWM style recovery (I understand why they don't include it). I long for the day when I can boot into recovery and update CM9 with one step, like we did with every other rom.
You should upgrade alpha 3 fixes many bugs and includes more features also. Just don't wipe data and all your settings won't change.

I'm loving it.. Solid! Aplaha 3 for me
Go for it
I went for it. Upgrade was super easy and lost no settings. The install guide states that you do not have to wipe anything for a straight CM9 Update. I had terrible battery life on alpha 2 and it seems to be getting better now that I switched to 3.
Is there a step by step in just updating instead of going back to gingerbread im new at this. Sorry for my noobness.

You don't need to flash gingerbread entirely. Just Odin the el26 kernel long enough to get to recovery, then flash alpha 3.

In my opinion i had flashed both Alpha2 and alpha3 both the same both battery for me is a tad different, alpha3 battery drains alittle faster

Capacitive Button Lag

My kernel is FE22 on a CM9 self build.
Is anyone else having an issue where the capacitive buttons won't start responding right after the phone is unlocked?

Lol, I don't think that switching carriers will fix that bug. It's most likely a bug on numerous Samsung devices.

Im running FF11 and have had the same issue the last couple of builds, i noticed it after FE21. i was starting to think my E4GT was having a hardware problem. Glad to hear im not the only one who's having this issue.
I started having the issue on custom ICS Roms. Tried several roms and stock unrooted to fix it and eventually sprint swapped out my device because I couldn't fix it on my own. Picked up my replacement two days ago. Currently running stock unrooted FH13 and still having the issue. Surely Samsung is aware and working on a fix for this... Time will tell. If anyone has found a fix for it please post it. Thanks!
Are you referring to the hardware buttons? (i.e menu, home, back, and search?)
Ya, mine do not respond every so often. It started happening once I was flashing custom ROM's for ICS and JB. I don't believe there to be a fix out for that right now.. I just put up with it considering it doesn't happen THAT often.

CNA Rom

Not sure if many people were aware or not but Codename put out a ROM for our Sprint version. It's up on GOO and also if you just google Codename Android, his site will come up. Not sure why he didn't open a thread on here.
I ran his Roms on the Nexus and it was awesome, lots of customizations. It's more like AOKP as far as options as opposed to CM.
Edit: DO NOT FLASH YET, ISSUES BEING WORKED OUT.

Weird we all noticed this Rom without being told bout it, Andriod minds think alike I guess lol
We find our own way... we aren't sheep who have to be told when our updates are coming via a major conference. *looks at sheeple*
I've got something from codename, need someone to test with me. Can someone msg me for it. Looks to be data isn't working for me, want to make sure it isn't just me with this new build.
