Loads menu, but buttons dont do anything..
hi, i make it past the Driver recognization, and it gets to the screen that has all the different options, but when i click flash recovery, it pulls up the menu that says click "ok" to execute, i click "ok" and nothing happens.... any help? has this happened to anyone else?
That proves you didn't read my instructions It was a test and you failed young padawan. You left click and it shows the instructions and at the end of the instructions it will tell you to right click to start the process.

So I tried going back to stock, click on it, followed the instructions, I've used Odin before so no problems there....got to the part where it was downloading the stock tar file and it stopped, message at the bottom of the screen on Odin was "stock.tar file MD is invalid"....something along those lines. Any clue anyone? :/ Thanks
Try renaming the file STOCK.tar.md5, let me know if that works.

Yes this is done when flashing to stock.
I don't think that flashing to stock recovery by itself is something I am going to include, because someone somewhere will flash it when they have an ICS Rom on there device and then blame me lol.
Plus I didn't see any flashable ones, but I didn't look for it either...
I tried going to stock several times and it puts phone in download mode and then pops up error saying
Cannot create file "C:\Users\Desktop\SGSllToolkit\ROM\STOCK\T989UVKL1_HOME_SGH-T989user_CL799405_REV00.tar/md5". The system cannot find the path specified.
Any ideas?

I don't think so. All I see is the recovery.tar.md5.
I was having this same exact issue with v1.4, deleted it and downloaded v1.7 and still the same issue. Even deleted v1.7 once and had it download all again and still a no go.

Get into download mode and flash stock pulled kernel in Odin, from Chris41g. The one with cwm included. You will be looking for the tar file, not the zip. Unless you still have cwm installed. Then you could use zip file.
You may not be aware, but you should have placed this in general section. Mods will move it.

Do a battery pull. What were you flashing on top of what, from which recovery? Try wiping cache/format.
It might help people to know what you were doing just before this happened.
Were you flashing something (what?) via Odin, recovery, cwm touch recovery?
If you were in the middle of flashing a modem I don't believe you should try a battery pull but if you were flashing a ROM and got stuck on reboot then I think it's safe (I did it earlier today but wait for more informed responses from people who know more).
I was flashing CM9 over an older version. Is there a way to go back to stock and then go from the start? Using Odin?
Pull battery and try again...or 3 button recovery and factory reset...

yes i can get into odin mode
If you can go into Odin mode then flash one of sfhub's one click packages.
edit: I'm not familiar with cm9 builds at all, maybe you should check with one of the devs as to whether it's safe to odin a one click over cm9, just to be on the safe side.

Before you resort to a battery pull, especially if Odin never recognized your phone (no COMxx showed up in the Odin screen) you can hold down the power button on your phone and reboot.
I don't know that one (battery pull) or the other (power cycle) is better but I always try to power cycle my phone before I resort to pulling the battery, if for no other reason than preserving the life of my battery cover (those little clips wouldn't be hard to break).

Btw having i9100 doesn't necessarily mean someone flashed the international version of the software. I don't know the reasoning behind it but when I have the yellow triangle show up it is almost always accompanied by the i9100 text.

First android phone and need help installing the CM10 ROM.
I downloaded the rom and extracted the zip to my internal sd card and when I apply the zip I just get installation aborted and get an android with a red triangle am I forgetting something?
I'm using CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4
which version of the s3 do you have? If you have the SGH-i747 you have the wrong version of CWM, download rom manager and update to the AT&T S3, should be 5.8.4.7
Do not extract the zip, put the zip on your sd card and flash it via CWM.

I'm with bell as well. When you are in Rom Manager, did you press Flash CWM Recovery? For mine when i press it, it gives me a list of a bunch of phone models and near the bottom should be Samsung Galaxy S3 (AT&T) That's how I got the proper CWM

lol... the first one will do fine, the second one is touch recovery, so pick which one you want to use... flash it in recovery like a ROM... after that your recovery will be changed... reboot the phone once, or just reboot recovery, try the CM10 flash again, and if it fails again, you got a bad download, go get the rom again...

i suggest using Root Explorer since you get access to everything on your phone. If you don't want to pay for it, 4shared an app called BlackMartAlpha apk then download the app from there. You get most of the paid apps from there, at least I do anyways

ok I found the original thread over here by eheinzeiii pertaining to the verizon variant of the s3. this gave me a overall direction to search. so i did. what we have below is a modified system file that will increase your over all volumes on your sprint cm10.2 driven s3. follow details below for installation. as i have already done the work and edited the appropriate sections of the file to achieve the increases.
installation instructions.
Download any root explorer. in the demonstration pictures i am using root explorer.
next download the attached file below.
navigate to system /etc / snd_soc_msm
inside here you will find the same file you downloaded snd_soc_msn_2x.
copy or move the downloaded file to overwrite the original file in this location.
next we make sure permissions are mirrored to the original as picture below illustrates.

}
next we wanna make sure ownerships are also mirrored to the original file as illustrated below.
After you are sure all permissions and ownership files are reflecting the original overwritten file. go ahead and reboot to recovery. (a reboot works Just what i do) once in recovery wipe cache & dalvik cache. go to advanced fix permissions. reboot. enjoy a louder overall cm10.2 experience.
please note on the attached file i had to add the .zip extension to allow attachment to forum. jusr download then delete the .zip extension or use android file link below

Can you suggest one that will work with my rooted E4GT please?
Grab the kernel in .tar format from here-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244781 and flash it with Mobile Odin Lite from the Play Store (it's free). Your device will reboot. I'm guessing your on stock rooted so pull your battery after it reboots, put your battery back in and hold Power+Volume Up until it boots into recovery. Then go to Install From SD (power button is used to select), pick which SD your download went to (external most likely), scroll down to Downloads folder, pick the FI03 Toolbox that you downloaded, select yes, after it's done select Back until you get to Reboot System. Select that. Follow the rest of the directions from the linked thread above where you downloaded the files.

You don't need GC01. GB27 is the Sprint version, the carrier does not matter on the kernel. The modem is the only thing that is carrier specific.

If you're stock rooted on the latest JB release... pick the latest gb27 release on the page bilgerryan linked up too.... but read the thread first and make sure if the newest release is recent... that it is working correctly. I can't stress enough how important it is to read everything you can get you're hands on.
The gb27 kernel/recovery is just the sprint version... I'm on boost also and I run nothing but sprint kernel's and modem's.. so you'll be good.
If by chance you're on ICS still... then go to rwilco12's repo and grab a stock touchwiz kernel that has a custom recovery... or even a custom touchwiz based kernel with a custom recovery..
You just need to make sure the kernel/recovery is matched to the rom version you're currently running.. then do as bilgerryan advised..
Good luck.
Sorry for answering for ya Ryan... but I know how busy you are. Please correct me if I answered poorly..

Wow... I got ninja'd...lol
Can't find Mobile Odin Lite in the Play Store LOL
@counslor
Search xda for it... it's here. Download and install with a file browser.
Really though... it's worth the 5 spot... to me atleast. I use it to flash a safe recovery everytime I flash a new rom.
I used Odin3 from my pc and got the recovery flashed...thanks

I flashed the toolbox, still no MSL. I also have the Sprint Epic Touch. I have now spent nearly 3 weeks browsing through forums and getting nowhere. I am trying to use my old sprint phone on Net10 and I need my MSL to activate my phone. This is making me nuts! I need help so I can be done with this little tiny Galaxy Proclaim and get back to my gs2.

I have the custom recovery as well.. after trying all of this, I went into terminal emulator, typed getprop ril.MSL and it just flashed down to the next line. I have tried both using terminal as a regular user and a super user. does not make a difference. Is it possible to just wipe Sprint software off of the phone and install a generic? I can't stress enough how going from my gs2 with its big sexy screen to this tiny proclaim that is, well, no bueno, is killing me. I hate the proclaim....For the love of everything that is holy, please someone help me out here. Am I doing something wrong? I am new to this, but I have read and followed step by step what to do and it keeps ending up a waste of time
Have you tried the Sprint diags. The only thing that works in it for me is the ability to display the MSL.
I have also seen it posted that it does not work on the Boost & VM stock ROMs, you may have to flash a DeOdex TouchWiz ROM
Finally! ! Sprint diagnostic mode worked. Thank thou thank you thank you! !!
