Hi all..
I recently got my HTC One X and unlocked the bootloader, installed Clockwordmod followed by flashing a couple of different ones to see which one I liked.. (All of them are snappy, feel & look great...)
Where the problem lies is when I try to play a game or watch a video (aka accessing the gpu) the system instantly freezes and then reboots..
This problem never occurred using the stock software only became apparent when I started using customs.
It happens with all games I've tried...
Problem is now what shall i do? I made the foolish error of not backing up my stock ICS.
My phone is unbranded, so perhaps I could use someone elses unbranded stock rom to revert back to?
Shall I unroot? Pretty bloody worried to be honest... what if i've broke it?
Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks in advance

Hey thanks for replying so fast.
I was just looking for what you suggested and cannot find it anywhere in the development section nor in the "everything htc one x" thread...
Am I being blind?
Also, do I just flash it like a normal room? (e.g. put it on my internal memory and flash through recovery?)
Thanks again

I'm sorry Adam but that link requires me to have 10 posts or more. It must be in a special section then?

Thanks.. just realised this is the rom I am running on now and the problem is still persistent.
Just games and videos it seems.
I am not sure about superwipe..
I always wipe data & cache when I installed a new rom... different thing?
What do you think now?

Superwipe wipes the system as well, going between different ROMs without doing this may be the cause of your issues. Back up and try it out

Seems I can only find it for sensation?

Adam, thank you for helping this far.
I have completed a superwipe along with clearing cache and wiping data, reinstalling stock rom and no luck. the problem still occurs... open up a game and it instantly freezes and reboots itself.
Argh, my stomach feels rough...
What do you think i should do now?
edit: just a quick update, have tried various roms and the problem occurs in all. superwiped everytime as well. i think its a problem with the gpu...
in the mean time if anyone else could chime in with any ideas/help would be v.grateful..
otherwise should i send phone back?

If you send the phone for repairs HTC will claim the mainboard needs changing and try to charge you several hundred for it because your bootloader is unlocked.
Try going to settings>developer options and toggling force GPU rendering

Have tried this too, no luck.
Any other ideas? The phone works perfect apart from this...
It's a new contract phone and comes with a 30 day fault return, couldn't I unroot it and give that a go? Would they know?.
Bump for this one last time before I try and get it replaced.
Any thing else I can do?

Hello guys,
I'm no stranger to this forum since i've advised it from pretty much anything but this is my first time posting due to a critical situation.
I decided to root my phone (DHD, 2.3.3 Gingerbread), and while the root procedure and S-off procedure went smoothly.
When i flashed a rom to the phone, this rom to be exact http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077180, the installation was completed and now the phone hangs on boot screen (white screen with HTC letters just that) for a 10+ mins.
i cannot access it in any way i know of.
i would like to ask if there are any options here to fix this issue
Thank you in advance!
The best way to start would be to boot your phone into recovery. When you first power on the device, as you're holding the power button, also hold down the Down Volume button. This should allow you to get to the menu to then boot into recover. From there you should be in CMW, which you can then try re-flashing the ROM, see if that solves your problem.
Thank you for your reply, zidane. what you suggested worked like a charm and i now have a working phone again.
at least now i know how to resolve certain issues but i hope this incident will be the only bump in the road!
Take care mate!

When you install a Different Rom from the one you have installed it is always advised to do a FULL-WIPE

Also, the first time a new ROM starts it will take quite a long time so dont pull the power

This problem mostly occurs if you didnĀ“t do a full wipe before installing. Try doing a full wipe, and then reflash the rom. That should resolve the issue
i did a full wipe even tried 2 different roms still nothing
Sorry for hijacking your thread but what's the procedure to do a fullwipe?

Hey,
does it happen while running normally or while booting up?
I guess it's important to know what ROM you are using ... maybe you got something wrong while flashing your phone ...

Probably a hardware issue, you need to send it to htc for repair , so go baxk to stock

Flash back to a stock Rom first and see if it still reboots.

Basic case of motherboard problem. Go back to stock and send it to HTC for repairs and they will change your motherboard.
I actually this time have no idea what happened to this phone, but after reinstalling the OS the phone's camera began to work... Up until a day later it stopped working again. So i moved on from CM10.1 to Blackout ICS, which went well I suppose, up until two days later it died again, it just goes to a black screen when launching the camera app, if i have music playing that will stop, and the phone will be unable to play music for a minute or so, im touching on reformatting the SD Card, but before i do that i want to know if theres any ways to get the camera going again, and if theres any hardware faults (which is unlikely because when it works it works perfectly)

Yes, it still freezes at a black screen, because of the mods applied to my Rom, reinstalling the os is a bit of pain because I have to apply them again

I think you misunderatood the question, if one of your mods are causing the problems, do you know which one? If yes then why do you install it? If no then reinstall the rom with no mods at allfor a few days then add one of the mods and wait a few more days to see if everythings ok and keep doing that until you can identify which mod is causing the problem. Id do a nandroid before installing each mod. Once identified the mod thats the issue, restore the bavkup from just before it was installed and dont reapply the mod, either do without it or look for an alternative

Hey there, this is my first post here so go easy on me.
I was fortunate enough to unlock my HTC One through the HTCDev site and didn't do anything really exciting with the phone for a few days. However, last night I flashed newtoroot's GPE rom and have been unable to send or receive phone calls or messages on my device.
According to newtoroot, when the phone begins setup and tries to activate on the network you should try to avoid that step by pressing back. However, pressing back or home buttons wouldn't let me escape that process and it just continued all the way through. I suspect this is where the issues started. Anyway, after it finally finished searching for the network, it said it failed to activate.
I tried wiping my data/cache/dalvik and flashing the stock rom, and newt's other Sense based rom, but neither have helped. I thought I had made a backup, but apparently I didn't.
Any ideas? Thanks for taking the time to read through my problem!
Try taking the sim card out and putting it back in and reset the phone. That worked for me one time with my DNA.

Follow the stuff they did in the CM10.2 thread to get calls/data working on that. It involved flashing the stock recovery and some other stuff, idk but it worked so it can't hurt to try.

Something similar happened to me. I had to go into Settings -> Mobile Data, and change Preferred Network from Global to LTE / CDMA mode. I'm not sure why it picked Global as the default.

I'm looking through that thread and can't find the HBOOT method to fix this problem, I believe I am going through the same thing. If someone could help or post their method I would be eternally greatful. Also the link for the vzw stock recovery is giving me a 500 error internal server error so if someone could post that I'd be very appreciative.

So, backup your data first. If you have a PC, you can use Helium to backup your apps and data to your PC, you don't need root either. And you can just use MTP to transfer your /sdcard to a folder on your PC.

i did and after a few days use, the problem occurs again. now i have flashed the stock ROM, and the wifi goes well. but i dont know whether the same problem will appear again.
As others have said-install a custom ROM, I'd suggest something close to stock. If the device keeps acting strangely, and the problem occurs again, relock the boot loader, restore to stock(all can be done with Wug's toolkit)and send it for repair, as the problem might be faulty hardware.
How long have you been facing this issue? Once it's grayed out, can you turn it on/off, or is it stuck until you reboot? Are you using a custom kernel? Is the device rooted?

This happened to me once, on an unstable rom, but on stock is kinda weird.
