NICE and thanks for the info! i prefer ES from the cloud services own apps, it's really good when you want to transfer a file from one storage to another. i use them all, dropbox, box and sugarsync so really nice with skydrive support now as well. i've just started using skydrive more on a daily basis as i know i'm going to use it a lot when win8 arrives. also nice with 25gb.

Your welcome , dropbox, gdrive, and Skydrive for me - I have the 25gb for Skydrive so think it will be my main cloud (considering the dropbox is only good for 2 years)...

[Q] Audio streaming from home

Anyone know of a player or app (other than ORB or Slingbox) that will stream audio from my home network? TIA
Subsonic
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Well Orb really isn't that bad. I had a hacked version of the Android client. I can't post a link or attach it because of this sites Warez policy. Since I'm 12 stepping off windows I deleted the Orb client since I don't need it. I'm sure many people here know the big warez sites and will have no issue finding it.
A few weeks ago Buy.com had some Pogoplugs for $49.99. I picked one up, I'd rather have it and usb drive up 24/7 then a desktop/nettop. The Pogoplug client isn't bad for streaming your audio. I can navigate all 100GB of audio, sort by artist or album name. It' not bad. For video it kind of suxs.
I find VLC server and the Android client are a little clunky and a pain.
When I get some time I will be looking into FFmpeg server for video streaming/transcoding. I haven't found much on the linux side that I like for streaming. I look forward to other people's suggestions.

Thanks for this info, have you tried it? If so how is it for you?
winamp remote is another option. Haven't tried it but I've read that it's pretty good
To throw another option out there, I use tversity and like it quite well.

It works great. You do need to donate 10 dollars for the server

No, you do not. The amounts on the websites are merely suggestions. You can donate any amount you wish (I know $2 worked for a few), and you get your license. Or, you can compile it from source, or, look at the source code itself for a workaround, if you really don't wish to donate :-/

What Password Manager Are You Using?

As title asks, what password manager are you using on your G2? Be it free or paid, lets hear what you are using to store all your passwords.
Im getting tired of trying to memorize all my passwords and need to find a good and secure app to store them with.
I have been using KeePass (main pc) and KeePassDroid works well and its free, check out the tutorial it helps a lot.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.keepass&hl=en KeePassDroid
http://keepass.info/download.html KeePass website (I use the classic version)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=4lG58DoXH-c Great KeePass Tutorial
I use KeePassX on my PC (linux) and KeePassDroid on my phone. Absolutely love it!

OI Safe is another free and good one I have been using.
I don't really use a password "manager" so to speak, on my mac and iPad I do have 1Password, on android it's just a 1Password viewer (good enough for me), since my stuff is synced with dropBox it's pretty easy to pop open the viewer when I need and look up a login.
The 'base' of the whole software though isn't free.
This is one of the best and beautifully done. Pocket
I've used LastPass for a long time on pc, but haven't shelled out for the paid android app yet.
I'm using KeePass Droid for quite some time now. Works great for me. Syncing .kdb file throughout all devices (with Dropbox), mobile and PC it's a great tool to have all your passwords available everywhere and always updated.
Firefox also lets you synchronize your data (passwords, bookmarks, history etc.) on all devices, you can check this too.
Lastpass premium
I use LastPass on all my devices, G2, Transformer, and laptop.
I use mSecure ,CM7
Another vote for keepass and keepassdroid

Best Office Suite [Poll]

Hi Everyone,
I'm interested in all your opinions in a poll for the best Office Suite app (paid or free) to run on the Nexus 7.
My only real personal requirements are:
Google Drive integration
Full (as much as possible) editing of documents
Integrated fonts
Autosave
It's interesting to see that last month Google acquired Quick Office too!
Your thoughts...and more importantly reasons for your choice!
OP: good question. I was frankly quite disappointed that the new, improved Google Drive only allowed offline editing, but not offline document creation.
Galaxy Nexus / TMobile / Oakland
Thanks for the reply malcontent510, I had noticed that feature was lacking too and to me with the acquisition it is quite plain that eventually Quick Office + Drive will merge and it will be a force to be reckoned with. Until then one of the £5-10 ($7-15) range of apps will do the job I think, what was your personal pick?
on the phone I have experience with quick office, documents to go and preferred quick office.
On the tablet(nexus 7), I tried quick office pro hd and really like it so far.
I'm still learning how to use it but it is visually appealing to me & I love that I can sync my dropbox, box, drive accounts with it.
Vote= quick office pro hd

Thanks ateebtk, so can you open/save to/from Drive offline and then sync your saves when you're back online?
Are there several fonts included?

Alright..there are 19 fonts included.
Won't let you save file on drive without Wi-Fi.
You are forced to save on local storage without Wi-Fi.once you get Wi-Fi, you can easily drag files from local storage to the Google drive account very easily using the file explorer built in the app.

Thanks!
Does it Autosave in the background?
I like king soft office
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Quite a few votes for Google Drive/Docs, I do like the app, but you can't work offline unlike the others...
phantasybm does KingSoft have Drive integration?
Bump
OnLive Desktop looks pretty good, only downside is the need for a decent internet connection.
Hey ben, that's a very interesting app! Very cloud based but if you were at home/in an office with Wi-Fi then it could be worthwhile.
I just came across this app in the store that you might want to check out as well...
CloudOn

How did you install Quick Office Pro HD on the tablet? The app page on Google Play says it's not compatible with the Nexus 7.

A full featured, MS office compatible office package would be the "unreleased" SoftMaker Office Mobile for Android.
They have a free release candidate version you can download from their website and try.
This is the only one I've ever found that's 100% compatible with Office 2007 and 2010 without any formatting changes, etc.
It's really a heavy package tho. it includes "word", "excel" and "powerpoint".
Interesting find compusmurf! Have you tested it?

Officesuite HD. Works really well and works with a number of cloud services.

I use OfficeSuite Pro- It was Amazon's free app of the day a few months ago and I have no real complaints with it. Nothing particularly spectacular about it either.
Does anyone know if the Google Drive app allows you to save directly to .docx/.xlsx?

Syncing music with iTunes

Hi there,
Im planning to buy a new mobile phone, and i dont know which one yet: iphone or one x.
One very important thing is that i can sync my music and playlists from itunes.
Is that possible with the one x?
Is anyone of you making use of it?

I don't know, man.... I think the trade off is worth it.
The cool thing about Play Music is that you can pick and choose which music you want on the device and 'pin it' to your device. If you just choose to play the music, it'll cache all of it.
Either way, it's legit and I totally recommend it.

Double twist is pretty buggy. Why don't you wait until Sep 12 to make ur decision. I am not asking you to get the iPhone. Just wait to see what apples got under its sleeve before making ur decision.
Well, it works with HTC Sync!
It's pretty slow, but it works, it even creates the playlists

Best Music Sync Application?

I've always been a doubleTwist user on Android but I was curious about other softwares that could transfer my music and playlists.
doubleTwist is fantastic application to transfer files but sadly the cable sync feature doesn't work on the SIII (or does it? Any suggestions)
AirSync with doubleTwist is fantastic as well, but my home WiFi connection is garbage so it takes too long to sync.
What are your favorite applications to sync music and playlists?
Google Music! Love it. I don't even use my ipod anymore
+1, Google Music all the way. I use easy ums app to transfer files or just stick my SD card in my Mac for faster transfer. I have used AirDroid before to transfer files and it worked very well and was fast even on my terrible wifi

MusicBee is BY FAR the best desktop music player I have encountered - both for use on the desktop and also for synching.
Much more intutitive and easy to use than MediaMonkey, etc., very full featured (has replaygain, fade, etc) and unlike a lot of other programs I have tried which tend to hang, crash of sync very slowly, it works easily every time.
Im surprised more people dont use it - it took me a while to discover this program and I think it rocks.
