Currently using the Incredible, but Windows Phone 7 seems really awesome. Microsoft says devices will be ready for the holidays on Verizon, and my wife just said Merry Christmas...so I wonder, should I?

It's hard for us to answer that question without a little information on how you use your phone. Personally I had to sacrifice some functionality coming from Windows Mobile but for me it's well worth it because the overall experience is so much better with WP7.
I really like the idea of xbox live gaming, netflix streaming, and office being built in. I do use exchange, want some form of tethering, like apps that use my camera for things like augmented reality and bar code scanning.
I have multiple gmail accounts, multiple live accounts, and work exchange. On Android I can have these all setup with active-sync.
This is just a sampling and given how young the platform is I would expect to give up some things I have return use too.

I highly recommend an HD7. They come with sound producing front grills at each end. There is a lot to like about WP7 but right now it is a little shy of features. That will change as time goes by.

Syncing all your various email over the cloud is no problem although you have to have a seperate tile for each account, no tethering yet except by hack only the lg phones have any sort of augmented reality - this is version 1 software - I like it and will stick with it but some features are missing
I have tried all three main phone OS's and even though there are a lot of missing features, I prefer Windows Phone 7.
What about DLNA streaming to my xbox? I'd like to browse and beam multimedia from my phone to my xbox. I don't want to navigate with my xbox. What about video?I hate that .3gp isn't supported by the xbox or ps 3. I thought I read that they shoot in wma right?

Wp7 uses activesync for hotmail and exchange, and google has google sync. It supports multiple activesync accounts. That isn't a factor. Activesync IS microsoft technology, you know.

Its really a nice gadget to have, fast smooth but you may feel the lack of some features which you are already familiar of. If you have the extra cash to burn then go for it, just dont expect WP7 to satisfy all your 'techy' needs.

battery life for me seems on par with my hd2, not great, not bad. Depends really on screen brightness and how much you use the device.

I think only the lg's have dlna streaming right now, seems like if one supports it, it shouldn't be that hard for all wp7 to support it down the road.

I may have to hold off since Dish released their app today!

So, does anyone know of any good alternatives? otherwise i may actually consider paying for the service....

have you tried slacker?
I'm playing with it now... its weird, different. Their top stations are awful but I created a new station that was playing my kind of music.
The thing I loved about lastfm was their vast selection of music. They even knew about this local garage band around me. I guess time will tell if slacker is good, but I'm open to more suggestions

My favorite music app over and above all else is now AudioGalaxy. Check it out. It streams all the music from your home computer without you having to sync.
i like GrooveShark. its not free, but at 3usd a month, its not going to bankrupt me. you can cancel it anytime too, and you get to use playlists from other people(check out reddit, grooveshark playlists). you can see these on your computer and your phone, and mark favorites from them.
i'd check out the free version on your PC first, everything it can do, so can the mobile client.

I used Titanium backup to remove the stock music player and now my lockscreen music controls on CM7 and my headset music buttons work for AudioGalaxy without firing up another player. That used to happen to me. Sometimes I'd have 2 players play at the same time. Since AG is really the only mp3 player I need I uninstalled the other ones.

While I personally love grooveshark and pay for it to use the android app, the fact that such payment is required makes this a less than likeable alternative for many who are seeking something free like lastfm used to be.

Here you go.
also, if you want a nice resource on how to use DLNA, their website is pretty helpful at explaining what it is and how to use it.
I am not a twonky spokesperson, in fact I don't even use it anymore, but when I was doing DLNA streaming, it was my fav. there are others out there, just do some googling for android DLNA apps.
happy streaming!
Oh sweet thanks for the help about to look at the links right now

I love ICS, especially for the small things like the Google Music controls on the lock screen (even the secure lock screens). but, it makes their podcast app Listen look even more dated than it already was.
i know there are quality third part podcasting apps, but you guys think Google will touch this soon? Will they add features like speed control, drag-able organization, and quick controls on the lock screen? Or will they finally integrate podcasts into Google Music?
Anyone have any insight?
As far as I can tell, Listen is dead. A good replacement which I use is Pocket Casts. It's well worth the low price.
BeyondPod has my vote for best podcast Manager.
I just have it use my Google Reader feeds to transition from Listen.

Beyond Pod is what I use as well. Not a real polished app but definitely gets the job done. Easy to setup and can automatically download new podcasts and delte old ones from storage.

What makes BeyondPod so much nicer than Listen? I mean i'm open to paying for a great app and such, but Listen has yet to demonstrate any huge flaws that I've felt the need to replace it.
Very curious what has made others dump Listen/pay for a replacement.

I got it for free via Amazon's App Store promotion. However I feel bad for getting it for free now. Apparently, Amazon asked them if they wanted to be a part of the Free promotion; Amazon gave them a bunch of numbers about why this would be good for pocket casts, how it would increase sales overall, yadda yadda yadda. Well after the promotion, they obviously had a TON of new users (all of whom did not pay nor did Amazon pay PocketCasts), but they really did not make any money and instead had to find ways to support all these new users. With that said, I probably never would have downloaded (and tried) the App, so while I didn't specifically give them money, I recommend it all the time and encourage users to buy it. I'm super upset that Google cancelled updates/support for Listen but I can at least hope that 3rd party developers such as pocket casts can cash-in.

So sad that Google doesn't support Listen anymore.
I've tried almost every similar app but I always go back to Listen for one reason: no other app lists podcasts by date/time added.
I hate the way some apps place the number of unlistened items next to the podcast's name, forcing you to check every item individually. I just want a single, chronological list.

Listen was abandoned long before Labs was axed. The affiliated Google Groups page was forsaken by the developers 12+ months ago.
This is especially curious since Google Analytics must show how widely used it is.

Awesome. Great catch! My only issue with it is that it doesn't seem to want to detect the S-pen. For instance, when I was adding my media paths took out the s-pen to tap the folders and nothing. No screen tap detection. Anyone else having that issue?
Also, it took me a second to locate my external SD. Selecting external media actually takes you to the internal "sdcard" I had to go root filesystem, storage, extsdcard. My first Samsung device (been a HTC guy since the blue angel) so perhaps this is the norm but throwing that out there for those who may not know.
I can confirm that s-pen doesn't work with this app. But nonetheless, its still a great program. Since this app is still in beta, it could only get better.

In case you didn't find it- it's all in the setup...
For anyone who may not know xbmc stands for:
X-Box Media Center (of which it was(/is?) originally a port)
There are tons of add-ons you can install. Getting it fully setup can become an on-going evolution.
By hooking your device up to your TV & running this app you can essentially cancel your cable subscription and replace it with xbmc
There are also some additional skins & add-ons which can be found & downloaded elsewhere with a regular browser and installed from within the app (meaning: you can't get to everything that is truly available for this app from within it, although there's plenty available there...)
