Need help getting my xperia play back to stock - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i flashed to the beta ICS and want to be back on stock firmware
so i can get onto android market ect..
i tried using flashtool but keep getting an error
this error:
ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="SECURITY_CLASS";ERR_DYNAMIC="SIN header verification failed"
there is nothing wrong with the usb port (i have tried others) and it is the same port i used to flash with
I get the error when it asks me to put the phone in flash mod (holding the back key then inserting the usb)
here is what i have
Xperia Play (R800i)_4.0.2.A.0.42_TW.ftf
X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_CUST-UK GENERIC 1235-7379
what can i do?

Try using the official software to update to stock. I don't have 8 posts yet so I can't post urls so you'll have to copy this into the address bar:
sonymobile.com/global-en/software/phones/xperia-play/
However, you say you're downgrading so you can access the Play Store? You should be able to access the store within ICS. You have to flash a gapps zip to install it however. You can get the latest ICS gapps here:
goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip

I've used Wotan server before to flash a firmware. Not sure if that will work for you though.

anything else you can suggest for me to do?
all i want to do is get back on legit firmware lol

Use Flashtool to flash the stock ROM to your phone.
Flashtool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351299
Stock Ftf Files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589399

Suggest relock your bootloader since flashtool is not working

Since flashtool isn't working re'lock your bootloader using,
Unlock using: http://adfoc.us/423185576865
And relock using this : http://adfoc.us/423185576880
Then you could use SEUS to reflash stock firmware. Or download this firmware http://adfoc.us/423185569090 and retry flashtool this has a better baseband imo than the rom your currently attempting to flash.

[MT15] Urgent help please

hi all
i have sonyericsson xperia Neo, both cameras and flash dont work after 2.3.3 flash
the icon is there but when i open it "camera is not available"
when i test it or install 3rd party software it FC
i tried flashing the global version but with no success
any one can help me please ? more than half of the value of this phone is gone if the camera isnt workin
Suggest you try to reflash - do you have an MT15a? or i? try it with the "official" firmware for your handset...
tried to reflash / repair / now flash using the flashtool
nothing is working with me,
i think its a camera driver mismatch ..... i got it when i had an X10 and it was fixed with a simple update (not reflashing)
does anyone know if i flashed with ARC frimware will it brick the device ? i am just thinking how i can totally wipe or format the the system and re-install it
Use SEUS, not FlashTool.
i did
i used it to reflash the software
i used the repair
it didnt fix it
i used the flashtool to flash the global rom, still no success

check out this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127764
and use wotan client to get the older firmware(save the blob file so a ftf can be created)
done ....
i couldnt find where to find save blob file
and the camera still "not available
It's been a few days now - so have you found a way to get your Neo worklng/reformatted to its original factory state by now? Did the Wotan Client/server method work for you eventually? Is your bootloader unlocked to begin with?

[Q] Reinstall Stock Rom

Anyone know how to reinstall the stockrom, currently on the latest but seems to have issues and would like a fresh reinstall of it. Tried using the Sony software that comes with the phone but when I try to 'repair' the phone in the software update section, it says that I can't download the firmware from my IP Address.
If you have a custom kernel on it you have to flash any gingerbread kernel like doomkernel and then flash a ftf firmware depending on your location.
If you have a r800i you can flash the .58 enhanced ftf. Just search for ftf collection for the xperia play, and there you can easily find the right ftf

[Q] Arc S not booting after flashing new ROM

Hello
As an initial note, I am not at all a techie guy. But I wanted to load Jelly Bean on to my Xperia Arc S. So I tried the following which I believe I should not have tried.
1. Rooted the device using ERoot 1.2
2.Unloaked the bootloader by following the steps described in sony website
3. Tried to flash Kernel using flashtool (latest from flashtool website) but was unsuccessful. It always says you need to root the device to flash in the activity log. But when I come out of fastboot mode, the flash tool always says the deice connected and it says the devise is rooted. But it never permits to flash the kernel in fastboot mode. I tried with different kernels, but unsuccessful.
4. So out of curiosity, I just decided to proceed with installation of jelly bean based on cynagenmod 10. So downloaded the Jelly bean ROM & doodle apps and copied to sd card.
5. I installed the CWM using x tool from play store.
6. opened the recovery mode and deleted all cache and other thing as per a video in you tube. Then proceeded with the installation of Jelly Bean and google apps. Installation was successful.
7. But when I restarted the phone, it just shows sony logo and hangs. It never starts.
8. After this I tried to flash a kernel again, it still says the devise is not rooted.
9. After reading few forum threads I decided to relock the bootloader and use pc companion to reload ICS or GB. I flashed a bootloader locker ftf file and was successful.
Now my phone is still showing only sony logo while boots and nothing. The PC companion is not detecting. Am stuck now. I don't know what to do. Please help. I donno if I did something wrong and l will have to discard my phone.
It's not the end of the world.

"Device must be rooted" error means bootloader is not unlocked. Check over, if you unlocked it properly, got all the codes correct etc.

There is no need for that. Custom kernels include Recovery already.

The issue there, is that this ROM and kernel do not work together in combination. ICS kernel must go with ICS ROM, GB with GB etc. Kernel was not installed, thereby you were with JB ROM, but ICS kernel (Sony logo).

Locking bootloader didn't change anything. You have to restore your phone to full stock ICS with Flashtool. Download complete ICS firmware FTF file and flash it with Flashtool.

Hey, Thanks for the reply.
I understand I need to restore ICS and ICS kernel completely. But for some reason I cant flash using the flash tool as it says the device is not rooted. But honestly I have rooted the device using ERoot and have unlocked the bootloader. I believe that is the reason why I was able to install the JB ROM.
Now I have 2 problem in front of me.
1. I cant flash as it says the device is not rooted
2. I have relocked the bootloader
what's next??
Flashtool does not need root or anything to flash ICS. You are doing something wrong then.
You have to flash whole FTF file in Flashmode. If you occur any error messages, post them here.
i had the same issue

[Q] Kitkat Update - After Root

Hi-
I have rooted my device. Bootloader unlocked. Now my doubt is:
1. If I will still receive Kitkat update from Sony?
2. Can I be able to just download the same and install?
3. If yes, what will happen to my root?
Regards

Yes you will get a notification that an update is available, but your phone wont be able to install it (since bootloader is unlocked).
Thus, to apply the update, you need flash the stock firmware via flashtool.
And yeah, you'll lose root access once you flash the firmware. Just flash su binary via recovery to get it back.
Hope this helps.

Thanks @sohailferdous.... but I have few doubts - 1. I know the process of flashing a firmware via flashtool....but for that your need the ftf file...so is there a way to get the stock ftf file? Because .253 ftf india is still not available. The one present is AUS version
2. When you say SU binary I take it that its the SU zip file which is present in Doomlord's root update.

Hi,
I have a T2 Ultra Dual (Chinese Version ... XM50h) flashed it with the Australian firmware. Works great and shows now as D5322. Today I read about Kitkat Update - I'd connected the phone to the PC Companion - Companion started to download the Kitkat Update but when it shutdown the phone to install the upgrade I got the message that there is a modified software on the phone - update can not continue (Error2003)
Is it possible to get a flashable file out of PC Companion?

Strange - bootloader should be locked - how can I check if it is locked/unlocked?
When I try to flash 4.4.2 unbranded firmware from Ashwin - flashtool stops after the bootcode and nothing happens. Flash failed (so says the phone after rebooting. PC Companion repair does not work.
Reflash of the Australian 4.3 works - phone is up and running after 4.3 flash ...
Strange ...
Found a solution by myself!
Downloaded recent Flashtool (0.9.16)
Clicked on BLU
relocked bootloader (I had forgotten that it was unlocked)
Rebooted the phone
Started PC Companion
Update to 4.4.2
Sucess
