Empty DHD not charging, not powering on, no led.

Hello people
A couple of hours ago, my phone shut down due to empty battery. I came home, plugged it in and booted it, all was fine. At about 60% I shut it off and went to have lunch, when I came back and tried to turn it on, I couldn't.
Led was orange at the time, I unplugged the power cord but the led stayed on! I removed the battery to be able to reboot it, but when I re-inserted it I still wouldn't boot.
Now no matter how I try to charge it, led stays off like it's not charging. Tried various different cables/chargers, the same. Tried to plug it to the charger without battery but no led flashed. Tried to boot without sim/sd card, still the same.
Any ideas?
My battery has never been changed (for a year now) and has had a bunch of full drains. Could this be a dead battery? :/

Well seems the phone is fried... I tried two more official batteries and no go...

Sorry to hear it. I thought that at first when I read your thread but I thought because I am not the most experienced person here, there might be some kind of fix.
HTC will most likely if not certainly replace this handset for you, seeing as it just happened out of the blue.

Well I certainly hope so, problem is I suspect it's an import (from another European country) and local HTC service generally does not do well with European imports.
Anyway I'll give it a try, meanwhile I'm getting a sensation soon

I have a similar problem.
I'm lucky that my girlfriend has the same handset as I do, the I could compare the phone abnormal behavior tho that of her properly working phone.
The first thing I've noticed, after a while when the charger was attached, was that the phone is very hot and that the battery keeps draining out in a surprisingly high rate.
After a while I've noticed that even when the phone is turned off it wont recharge. Sometimes the Orange LED is on when recharging while it is off, and the LED stays on for a few seconds after removing the charger, as if it was still charging. Note that the affects of connecting the charger to the phone, are mainly the ones listed below (not necessarily altogether)
* The phone indicates as if it recharges.
* Going to an infinite loop of rebooting and crashing.
* Getting hot when power supply is plugged, or at any time when the phone is turned on.
Ultimately the battery was empty, and the only way I had to keep using the phone (mostly to diagnose the symptoms listed here) was to swap the battery with the one of my girlfriend's device, and charge my battery in her device while using her's. That's the place to mention that the battery works just fine and that the phone is draining any battery, no matter what.
I took it apart to have a closer look at the source of all of the heat emitted while the phone is turned on, and it seem to come from the motherboard itself.
That's all I have.
The worst thing is that a friend of mine who helped me opening it up broke the pcb of the volume keys. Now I checked and It turns out that that pcb is actually part of the flex cable, which sort of extension of the motherboard and is mainly the second most important piece of hardware of all the phone parts (not that there are so many). If I would be able to expose the conductors inside the flat cable I might be able to solder an alternative volume pad I'll make out of old some miniature switches I have. The cable is very thin. any Ideas of how to expose the relevant conductors without ripping the cable apart?

Just a (late) update:
It's been almost two years, I had given the phone to a close friend of mine after a couple of weeks since writing the first post, just in case he could resurrect it, nothing.
Then, a couple of months down the road, the phone suddenly woke up! He tried to connect it with the charger, after months of not being able to charge or boot it up and somehow it worked. And it has been working flawlessly ever since.
I just got it back to give to my girlfriend until her sensation is fixed, flashing Viper now
In case something like this happens to any of you, don't give up!

[Q] Defy randomly dying

My defy is barely 2 months old, i am running CM7.1 since it was released and its quite smooth with no problems till now.
But recently i went to a remote place (i made another post somewhere) and switched SIM cards, i switched back SIM again now. Since then, my defy randomly dies sometimes while holding it and most times while in my pocket. My battery percent looks fine (i wiped it just in case).
This happened to me several times, i suspected the battery was loose, so at the beginning i reinserted my battery 2-3 times and it would start again. But now even after reinserting the battery it refuses to turn on, i usually need to connect it to a charger (or USB) and after the LED light turns on, i can switch it back on, disconnect it and use it again.. until it dies again randomly.
I tried inserting a piece of paper as padding to prevent the battery from moving, but didnt help much. When i shake it a bit, it dies too, so it might be a loose battery or some hardware problem, but the reason im baffled is why i cant turn it on again without connecting it to a charger, and also why it dies randomly when i leave it alone and didnt even touch it. Also, i never dropped it even once or mishandle it at all to make the battery be loose, when i insert tha battery, it still snaps/click into place just like when it was new.
ANy help suggestions will be appreciated. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to provide a detailed account.

Firstly, check if your setVsel settings is all ok and not too low down specially the voltages settings. If you're not using SetVsel, then check your 2nd-ini in system - overclock settings, see if it enable and check those individual settings which might be too low that caused the phone under power/voltage and triggered self shut down.
Another option to narrow down your issue is trying another battery. Buy or borrow from a friend. If the case of random shut down still occur, then it might be hardware issue in your Defy mainboard. BUT.. I would flash it to another rom to make 100% sure before sending it back to the shop.

Thanks a lot for the reply, im not sure if its an overclock or vsel issue because it even dies sometime while booting up if i move it around, so im guessing battery or mainboard issue?? Ill have to check with another battery first then... hoping its not a mainboard issue coz the nearest service centre is miles away from where i live

[Q] Bricked phone or battery?

So my girlfriend just got given a used HTC Desire by a friend last monday. It was locked to Orange. Like all android based devices in this house, the first thing I did was unlock all the various bits, flash a decent rom, update the radio etc. and all was working fine all week including the battery dying totally at least once.
On friday, she had to do a 22 mile charity bike cycle for work (chump) and after she got home, she spoke on the phone for a while. Then the battery died. Now it's foobarred.
When I put it on charge, light doesn't come on straight away (hinting usb-brick)
Eventually the light comes on and goes orange.
It then goes green
When I press the power button, the green light goes off and NOTHING happens.
I can't get it to connect to the PC at all.
But since I can't boot it, I can't get into recovery, I can't get the PC to see it so can't use ADB.
I've tried all sorts of combinations of removing the battery, leaving it charging for hours, leaving it with the battery, sim and microSD removed for hours and can't seem to get any life out of it.
The phone looks fine, the water indicators are all still white. My only ideas aside from some catastrophic failure on one of the boards is maybe it's the battery that's shorted itself or something. Does the Desire turn on at all when plugged in with a fudged battery?
Anyone else had a similar problem? Any ideas on how to fix it? Phone or battery?
I'm trying to hunt down someone with a HTC Desire at work so I can test their battery with it - is there any chance this phone could make an expensive paperweight from another battery too?

Hi.
Maybe the battery, in his last breath, overcharged some circuits and burnt them. But I hope not for you. If the red light/green light works, it means at least that some of the circuit is working so continue your chase and find yourself another battery for testing.

Try and test the battery with a multimeter just to be sure ! Also what about charger was it original htc one ?

Did you got this solved? I've got myself a new phone (giveaway ) and gave my Desire to my wife. I could flash another hboot and back to cm7 without any issues, she configured her google acc etc and put it onto charger over night. But it didnt charged. On yesterday morning it then died cuz of empty battery and dont come back now...

Hello you there. I have a problem with my beloved xperia play and i think this will be one of the best places where i may get any advice with my problem. It all started when my Play fell of my hand and the digitizer glass has broken. Although it the glass was broken the digitizer was working just fine. It is obvious that broken glass is nothing esthetically nice so i decided to buy new digi. and replace it. And so i did it. Unfortunatelly something went wrong. Play was booting, vibrating, and recieving the calls BUT there was no visual. The lcd was not working. I was 'playing' with the phone for two days trying to guess what the heck is wrong. I even managed to update the software (baseband etc) with pc companion thinking the problem lied in software. Nothing more false. The software was ok. I decided to go with my phone to the nearest phone service so they can check what has gone wrong. They told me that there was a tiny (possible to see only though microscope) scratch on the flex cable from the lcd and that it has to be replaced (whole lcd). I was really despareted because i needed the phone a lot. It serves me more like a tiny pc rather than ordinary phone. I found a small shop/phone repair center where they had this lcd. Without any hasitation i've bought and replaced it. But my xperia didnt turn on! Moreover it didnt even turn on when i pluged it to the charger. Neither of my three computers found it properly after connecting via usb cable. It just prompting the message 'unknown device'. Instead the red light was constantly flashing (not 3 times in a row, but all the time). As i browse the internet i found that it may be battery issue. And so i wend to buy third part - a new battery. After insterting the phone has booted and it was working. I thought that it is all ok but no. The battery was draining realy fast. I mean realy by from 100 to almost 0 in about 6/8 hrs - of cource with wifi turned off, as well as gps, 3g etc. Well the other option was that the battery has to be calibrated properly. Unfortunately one night i fell asleep and didnt plug in the phone to the charger. When i woke up it was turned off. I couldnt turn it on again. The battery was drained 'below' zero so even with pluged it into charger it didnt boot. The red light was blinking the same as with previous battery. Neither taking the battery off or charging it for 5 hrs and more helped. yesterday i took it again to the phone service center. Today thay said that it is a problem with motherboard and it has to be replaced eventhough the phone boots up when the battery is charged with external charger. It still drains the battery a lot and didnt stop draining till battery level reach zero, the phone turn off and it could not be awaken without external interfere. I thought that it could be because of the update. I've found many posts on the internet about some faulty working sony devices after updating. But the guys from the phone repair told me that this is not a problem and the only problem is the motherboard. I mean - c'mon -replacing lcd, replacing digitizer, replacing battery and now i have to replace my r800i motherboard. I hardly believe that i am such a bad luck. Maybe you can give me some hints what to do with it. I really dont see me going to the other phone repair center and paying for another part. It is to much for me. Is it possible that it is only the usb /entrance/ fault, or is it the software problem. Please help me!!!!

Zenfone 2 Won't turn ON Or Charge. just vibrates every few minutes! Pls help

Besides it vibrates continuously every few (2-3) minutes (even without doing anything.).
I tried the following.

Let me know hoe it goes, because Im having the exact issue. I tried the steps from sukhwant717, but getting stopped at the step when it goes to the OS. Will keep my phone to charge for a few hours. I observe, that there is no heating up (battery), but will keep it for charging anyways.

I tried n times...its vibrating and stopping at connecting os....
i dont wanna get it repaired from service center .....looking foraward for NOKIA 6 .

I got mine fixed by changing the battery. Bought a new one from AliExpress.

It went something like this...
First phone refused to turn on....no charging light notification..it keeps vibrating.
Even @sukhwant717 method stopped at "os" thing.
After exhausting all option taken to a local service person who did something and told phones dead.
After coming home I have checked He RIPPED /SNAPPED ANTENNA cable.
I didn't bother much as phone was prononced dead!
After 30 to 40 days was casually reading @sukhwant717 thread and thought of trying again. I coonected charger and SUDDENLY I SAW ASUS BOOT SCREEN and phone was showing BATTERY WITH QUESTION MARK. I let it charge for sometime suddenly bootloader screen appeared but was not entering into recovery.(perhaps damaged bootloader , recovery).
Then I followed sukhwant717 method flashed bootloader and RAW image using ADB.
and phone RESURRECTED but with very low siganl.
It's due to RIPPED antenna cable.
And was getting good reception on 2nd SIM (perhaps uses different antenna/cable)
So I decided to order new Antenna Flex Cable but it's not available in India. So I went to ASUS SERVICE CENTER (near Brandfactory) in Hyderabad
and asked them the cost of Flex Cable, they said they won't sell spares...I have to RMA.
So I did and after two days I have received a call from them that "ITS FAULTY MOTHERBOARD" and will cost 11000 INR (USD 170, seriously ASUS),I said I rather want my phone in previous condition. I even told them to fix antenna cable ...I will manage.
They said their "TESTING SOFTWARE " failing device test even after connecting antenna cable.so they can't sell a part for a TEST FAILED device.
I told them it's because I had unlocked bootloader..the test is failing.they didn't have a clue abt bootloader unlcoking.
So again went to local market for the cable found A cable (though lil longer) and got it fixed for about 300INR ($5).
and got back the reception and typing with LTE connection on ZF2.

1) it's battery related issue (completely drained bir failed battery)
2) damaged bootloader
The people who have similar problem should leave the phone uncharged for 30 to 40 days even more and connect the charger and see if u see battery with ? Mark.
Or if new battery is available change battery and check....

if you need antenna cable i can send you. but before that. send me pics of motherboard where antenna connector sits. don't ever believe local and service center guys. they are dumb enough to ruin things.

I bought a cable from a shop (lil longer than ZF2 cable). and got it fixed. Thanks again.

I had a similar problem, phone suddenly powered itself off and started vibrating. With the phone off and connecting the charger it started to charge, but after a while it started vibrating and overheating. I did a factory reset but the problem persisted. I flashed the raw firmware and it behaved properly for a while, but a few days ago the phone died. It does not turn on, does not charge, screen never turns on, no notification light, no vibration. But if connected to the charger it gets hot.

Left the mobile alone and tried to plug in after 35 days, IT WORKED. At first nothing happened but left it in charge for few hours. Later the mobile came back to life when I tried to turn it on..... 3 days in and still working just like it used to.... will have to take care not to let the battery drain below 20%

I am having same issue .. did you get it resolved ? Any luck ?

can you tell me a bit more? i've got the same problem, you didn't download any drivers and just left the phone alone?
