Last night while using the phone I noticed this slight clicking sound from the bottom right corner of the screen (touch-sensitive panel). So I kept pressing it and I wasn't hallucinating, its there. Also figured the sound also comes when I press the bottom right or bottom center edge of the phone. The creaking sound isn't loud but its noticeable when I hold the phone in specific angles and while typing if haptic feedback is on, I think the vibration also makes it happen(weird)
So except for this my HOX is fine and am wondering if I should get it changed.
Are there any long term effects to this? I'm starting to just ignore the sound and trying not to make it happen purposely
Depends, does it make the sound when you're using it normally? If it does I would consider swapping it, although you said everything else was fine.
If on the other hand, it makes the sound if you hold it in a certain way and push unusually hard then I would say stop intentionally pushing it in a weird way and use it properly.
People have been complaining about "screen flex" along the side of the phone when they push on the edge and run their fingers along the side. Want to get rid of the screen flex when you push the edge of your phone and move your finger along it? STOP PUSHING THE EDGE OF YOUR PHONE!!!
Just remember that some phones have had screen flickering, yellow marks and even scratches under the screen, you may not be as lucky as your were the first time if you choose to swap it.
what you described is not flex even, most mobile devices have a creak some where
Flex should mean the screen is literally loose to warrant an exchange

The only time I've noticed this sound while using the phone is during haptic feedback from typing on the keyboard. I switched haptic feedback off to save battery and for this 'problem'

I did reduce pushing it intentionally since last night after figuring it might mess it up more.

Exactly why am thinking hard if I should get mine replaced. Another reason being I'll be leaving UAE(got the phone here) for good in a week and if by chance I do get a defective unit I'll waste a lot of time.
I'm not gonna play around with the edge anymore haha.

Yes you're right a lot of electronics and gadgets have creaking parts. Mostly the ones made outa plastic though. Does your HOX creak too?

my first flexed bad (soft one pressure, loose) on the left side, although i loved it so much because it had the much more dense yellowish sharp screen
second hox had a bad coating and slight flex on the left side, also hot pixels
third HOX my current is perfect, the screen is rigid on all sides expecially left and right, but it creaks if its around 50degree hot on two out of the four corners, very very slight creaks and only happens if it test it intentionally, it has the acer white screen with visible pixel grid, so the first hox screen i miss so much
im saying don't replace for a little reason bro it will be a bumpy ride, if the screen is loose then ok, you can see it by testing for light bleed in a dark room or if its physically moving
I think my screen is perfect. I can't figure how you're suggesting I test it, but pressing along the edges with slight pressure doesn't cause any change in the screen. The pixels are all good and no flickering. I think its a yellowish screen and not the bluish one.
How do you find out what LCD brand is on your HOX?

there is a guide somewhere on how to check the LCD
anyway it sounds perfect dont get rid of it!
Hmm I don't think I'll get it changed, I love it too much . Just have to get used to the occasional/random creak/click sounds from the device.

Had the TP2 for a week now, really impressed with it, but.......
the plastic screen on top of the touch sensistive screen has come away so when i click I can feel the plastic screen move about 1-2mm before it hits the touch sensitive part.
Has anyone else experienced this, if so is there a fix (heating it or something lol?) or am I in a possition to send it back?
Is this the screen protector that has come away or part of the screen itself?
If it's the screen protector that you have applied, then apparently you can take it off, wash it and air dry it then reapply. Having said that I've never managed to do it, I always end up buying a new one!
If it is part of the screen then DO NOT fiddle about with it, send it back!
I have the same problem.
In my opinion in the middle of the screen + left/right, there is less sensity than under and above he screen.
I think in this part of the screen the space between lcd and his plastic cover is bigger than elswhere.
I have tested it with resco explorer.
I have tried to marked some files from up and down and with a slightly pressure, the upper and under area recognized the input, but in the middle it does not.
Perhaps my Rhodium lacks,
and perhaps it is overstated?
No idea.
It would be nice to get some statements from you guys.
Sorry for my english

Exact same problem as me, I don't think it was like it when I first got it, lets give it some time and see if others experience the same problem - not sure if this will be covered by warrenty or not.
same problem for me. i can press the screen for about 1-2mm down. but only in the center of the screen.
sometimes there is a click noise, when pressing the screen in the center and under the speaker at the htc logo.
did anyone send it back?
do you mean ?
Do you mean that the screen in the middle is "wobbly" ?
I think I have the same Issue In the middle it feels like if there is some space between the plastic covering the screen and the lcd.
and no, I dont have a screen protector on it atm...
This "issue" that is being discussed here is known as the screen flexing. Unfortunately, this is an attribute of all resistive touch screens.

Im a bit relieved now. So it is normal to be like that or a problem with the screen that happens sometimes due to the nature of the resistive screen _

It's normal. All resistive touchscreens are like that (check out your/someone else's Nintendo DS, it's the same). The flexing is pretty good (ie, minimal) on the TP2. It's much worse on older generation devices.
thanks

ok soo i dropped my Tilt 2 from a standing point (which is about 5 and a half feet since im 5'9) with the phones keyboard open and screens tilted, whats funny is that no battery fell out or anything, it just shuts off, i had to turn it back on.
when i shaked the phone i heard a slight rattle and i reckon its from the Flex Cable from the LCD screen, the rattle stops when i have my Tilt 2s keyboard open, but when i tilt the screen i can hear it slightly...is that normal?
also what is going to aggravate me for the rest of the time im going to own this phone is that when im using the phone's software keyboard on portrait at say like a 15 degree angle i can hear taps which is quite annoying but if i hold it at a 45 degree angle it stops, i turned the phone to the side i notice a gap, not a big one and not really noticeable but id say its roughly .5mm thick, i push the screen down and the gap gets smaller, is normal as well?
plz let me know thnx a lot
short answer.... no.... not normal. You knocked something loose inside hence the rattle, WHICH you probably already knew The gap, also not normal. Well wait.. I should correct myself. This is all probably totally normal for people who have dropped their phone. You're lucky you didn't crack your screen or do more damage and the phone's still usable!

hmm, well i talked to one Tilt 2 owner and he said he has that rattle and he hasnt dropped it? but like i mentioned, the rattle must be coming from that Flex cable that goes between the motherboard and the LCD screen....

but its not as worse as his but you guys get the point
I just dropped my phone yesterday with keyboard out and tilted and I got a similar problem to this. My screen only has a gap when I pull it up, which I wasn't able to do before, but the screen slide is now about 1 or 2 cm's to the left causing it not to line up with the keyboard slide. Somewhat aggravating, but totally unnoticable unless your holding the phone. I don't get any rattle though...

well if i were to dismantle the phone and repair the little bridge that goes across the back of the LCD screen would that solve the issue? because it seems when i push on it it seems to fill a gap but idk if thats what causing the whole screen and kb issue but im going to do it when i have the chance
I have a tilt and mines exacly like the one in the video with the vary small gap and the screen wobble, I always assumed it was normal, mine dosent rattle though
that little gap and the screen wobble.
it just because is got movable parts, look at the screen hinges if i can call them that.
its the reason i didnt want to get mine, ive always chose candy bar phones so i dont worry about that.
but i did get me a tilt 2 and have dropped it too, i also think my wobbly screen started after i dropped it, but ive had it a year, since it first came out. the only thing i hate reall bad about this phone it the lack of a headphone jack I HATE THAT WITH A PASSION.
Hi all,
I have a question. Is it normal if you bend the corners of your phone slightly, it causes a creaking sound to occur? No rainbow or screen mess ups appear, only some creak. Try with your phone and tell me your results, don't be so weak with bending, just try and see if you have the creak.
Thanks
Nicholas

why are people trying to break their phones? if you smash an lcd it does what it does. etc. use it like youre supposed to or stop complaining that it rattles, cracks, shatters, and bends. i dont get it. i paid a lot for mine i take care of it.
No, I mean, when you put some pressure on the phone, for me, its the top right corner, when you push down on the top right of the screen, it will creak, but no screen ripple or screen distortion.
I do use it how it is supposed to be used, but then I still hear creak. Is it normal?
Got it replaced within an hour. Got the second batch (SH24) instead of (SH23) which was my previous phone. Everything works now.
Hi all.
I returned my black HOX last week because of the screen ripple thing (when you run your finger down the sides of the screen) also the screen seemed to be a tad loose just like so many people have reported on here. So phones4U sent me a white one, I have received it and its worse than the black one now I don't even have to apply any pressure to get the screen ripple. What should I do? should I just put up with the fault or should I change to another phone s3 etc.
Cheers eze

Return it and tell them its a known issue (they should know)
ask for a tested device or enforce a newer batch
SH248 on awards are good
latest SH25 and HT25 seems good
loose screen is a known defect, slight screen ripple on outer edges pressure is normal unless its acting badly

This one is serial SH24, I have literally just had the screen flicker now to, so this phones is defo a faulty one. So the slight screen ripple is normal, I would say my old black one was normal because you had to apply a bit of pressure for the ripple to appear but this white one aint normal. Anyway I have just got of the phone with phones4u and I have managed to arrange to do an exchange in store.

SH23SW, no ripple.
normal is under bit if pressure
I've had two SH25's.
First one had no screen ripple at all but the screen was loose in left bottom corner. I could feel it moving, clicking etc. The backlight was also bleeding from that corner. I returned it and the second one has screen ripple everywhere with light pressure, has a dead pixel and the screen is loose on both sides.
I'm waiting for this one to be replaced. Beginning to wish I wasn't so fussy with the 1st one.
Every HOX will do it under pressure but it shouldn't do it if pressed lightly mines does it but I don't really care as I ain't going to rub sides with a dark screen??

you second hox was defected due to the extra ripple and the first hox was defected due to screen loose
you should expect a defectless hox where the screen is rock rigid and fit on all sides and only slight ripple under pressure to the outside edges
I know, going to hold out for a perfect one now.
On this one you can see a small red light in the top left behind the screen when you are on a call, is this normal? I didn't notice it on the last one.

I dont think he means that, I had that on my original one its the notification led bleeding through the side of the screen and the case, caused by the screen not being glued correctly.

Mine creaks a little in the bottom right corner. Everything else is fine. I think it's the plastic back giving a bit. I had this on the Nexus 10 as well.

Yes, When I held the tablet with my left hand to touch the screen with my right it creaked like a rock band with bad music! Geeish.....the silver chrome or whatever the material is wasn't tight and it just bend. I returned it right away. I really didn't want to return it. However, I paid full price and not second hand money so I expect the performance to be right, that means no noise. When listening to music or watching a movie it seems as if someone was moving around and that can be pretty annoying. I tried holding it different ways with no change. So back it went. Let Samsung sell. This I know imagine you trying to sell it to the next person, what do you think they might say and how much will the value go down?

Yes, As soon as I opened the package, I noticed the bottom right hand corner was creaking an popping. It is not like I was looking for it. That made me investigate if the rest of the trim was doing the same. If you put your mind into into it, you can get some creaking from other ends of the trim but nothing like the bottom right hand corner. Every time I pick it up, it is annoying me so much that I feel I should take it back. I am not sure the guys at PCWorld would accept this as a reason for full money back or replacement claim. I do like the tablet, but do not want a noisy plastic in my hands.
Is this enough of a reason to ask for a replacement?

Sadly I dont think it is (pure guess so dont take my word for it) BUT I can 100% say that your Tablet will have a little bit of lightbleed along the bottom and sides....this alone is a good enough reason for them to accept and exchange - Good luck.

Put screen britghness to 100% and open this http://www.net-tracker.net/android/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/black_bg_1024x768.png, make sure it covers the entire screen inc notifications part and then switch off your lights in your room and you will then see light bleed, Its nothing major and common on LCD'S but it is a valid reason for a return/exchange.
I had lightbleeding on my first note but I found it to be acceptable however on my 2nd tablet I found the bleeding to be excessive and off putting so I got a refund from John Lewis,

If your one is not creaking then this definitely should be a rightful exchange claim for all those unfortunate to pick up badly put together tablets.
I am even considering getting my money back and going the Apple way. Excellent build quality, and I know that because I got some for the kids.

Sorry for the question, but what is "idk" in your post?
Having a creaking case, would that get worse in terms of speading all around the tablet's trim?
Any experiences but no guesses please!

"IDK" means "I Dont Know".
I guess if the creaking was coming from say a loose glass to the digitizer i think it could be something that spreads. Since if the glass isn't glued down well enough i could see slight dust getting in there and causing more separation over time. I doubt this is the case as you'd see bubbling at the edges if that was happening.
