HTC media link dgh 100 incompatible with HTC ONE X - HTC One X

Purchased a HTC DGH 100(good old media link) last week off ebay after checking if its compatible with HTC one X and was under the impression that it is compatible but plays media in a lower resolution.
Received it today and tried pairing it with my Htc one X (i was so excited that I literally wanted to jump) and after trying for nearly an hour, I gave up and called up HTC customer service.
Spoke to a nice lady(sarcasm) over the phone who initially said to me "We are sorry sir, but we do not provide troubleshooting support for HTC Media Link". After a few mins of a heated argument regarding how crappy their customer service is, I finally got to speak to speak to her manager who was very nice(sarcasm again) and told me that htc media link is not compatible with htc one x and after showing them this link
http://www.htcaccessories.com.au/DG_H100.aspx
where "under category and cables" it mentioned htc one x, they agreed that there was a mistake on their website. I have been advised by HTC that they will try getting back to me with a resolution and advised me "we are not promising you anything" like they are warning me.
Will update the post soon with their resolution or any updates on this but just wanted to tell every one pathetic the HTC customer service is.

Crap, and they still havn't fixed the site

their customer service is really bad
i wudnt be surprised if they dont get back to me or fix up their website given how bad they were on the phone.

That's is terrible, HTC should really pull thier fingers out of their backsides and get the accessory released, I've had the dock, media link on order from amazon for 6 weeks now and they have failed to supply them.
I think you have grounds for a refund as it dosent work as advertised, have you contacted the seller?.
Also if it is DLNA can you not try one of the DLNA streaming apps from the marketplace?

I have contacted the seller but can't blame him as he asked me to check with HTC regarding the compatibility before I buy it. I asked if HTC could do anything to fix it or replace it with media link hd, but they said that they won't and after threatening them about taking this on fb,Twitter etc.. they said they will look into it. Lol, funny how I never use fb/Twitter unless I have a complain against some organization

Will give it a try but I dont think it will work coz I did search on google for nearly an hour for a fix but cudnt find a thing

I thought they advertised it originally to allow all hdmi TVs to have DLNA added so you could stream from computers etc - I originally looked at it but got a bluray player instead ( cheaper at the time).
Imediashare lite should find it on your network. Keep us posted

The problem with imediashare is that my tv doesn't have DLNA n the so called media link has a closed software/hardware that doesn't lt the one x connect to media link using any other hardware. They better come up with a resolution or I am going the galaxy way

Your not the first and won't be the last, I'm also thinking of changing, unless htc get s-off and actually release updates to the UK I'm out probo for good. So near yet so far.... The older medialink should be compatible end of there is no excuse for it to be incompatible with future models. Because of this thread I think I will be cancelling my media link as it won't be compatible with future models.

It really is a shame considering I spent $780 on my new phone and media link only to be told that I have to sort things out myself. Oh and I haven't even started talking about screen flickering which hasn't gone away even after swapping the handset.

Update 15 may 2012
HTC calls me and tells me that media link is compatible and when I ask them to help me fix it, they give up and request for more time to come up with a resolution.
On a sidenote, they are yet to fix up their mistake on the website and worse, they have added a few more phones to the list(like sensation, explorer etc) that I think may not be compatible.
Good going HTC(pun intended)!

Update 15 may 2012
Got a call back again and was asked to update the firmware which I did already. I was then asked to give out the imei of my handset to which I denied and then I was told to provide them with the software/firmware version of one x. After telling them that I have one device with 1.29 and the other with 1.26, they came up with a crappy excuse that it only works with 1.28!!!I then told them that it was ridiculous and they had no idea as to what they were talking and were coming up with crappy excuses. They then advised me that they can only help if I gave them the imei number and when I requested them to put that line in writing and email me so that I could use it for legal purposes I was advised that they will call me tomorrow to help me fix the problem.
Luckily Australian laws are consumer friendly and if not resolved in a few days, I am knocking the doors of the consumer affairs.

Getting HTC One X working with Media Link
If you upgrade the firmware on the Media Link, this should work.
Steps:
1. Download the HTC Media Link ROM Update for HTC Desire HD (1.11.0.0)
(You have to search for this, as I don't have the right to post links in the forums yet)
2. Hold the power button on the Media Link and then plug it into your PC using the included USB cable. After 2-3 seconds, it should start flashing orange and green.
3. Open the Media Link ROM Update executable file.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen until the Media Link has been updated to ROM version 1.11.0.0
5. Plug in Media Link to TV and use as normal.

HTC Media Link - Dialaphone Pre-orders

I just wondered if anybody that pre-ordered their One X through Dialaphone have received their media link yet. We got told that it would arrive within 28 days of receiving our phone (which is nearly up) but I wondered if that was possible seeing as Amazon say that it won't even be released until the end of May.
Haven't got mine yet...
I haven't even had my gadget helpline letter so I can't cancel it.

They email you, they don't send a letter. You can phone them up and give them your post-code if you don't have your reference number and cancel anyway.
I called this number 01373839990, gave my postcode confirmed a few details, cancelled the gadget helpline, and received a confirmation email all within about 5 mins.

Ok, so 28 days from when I received my phone has come and gone, and as I suspected, still no Media Link. Has anybody else received theirs yet?
I think I might give them a call in the morning and see what I can get out of them.
I had a card through the door from Yodel which could be it but from the looks.of things D.A.P are using royalmail as per those that have received them.from P4U.
DAP sent my ibeats by Royal Mail so I would imagine that the media link will come with them too.

I just phoned up and told them that when I ordered I was told that the phone would come with a set of beats headphones (I wasn't told this ). Their twitter account also tweeted that the phone would come with beats headphones (the tweet has now been deleted) which I reminded them of and they sent me a set out.
My media link arrived today, just giving replacement phone the full charge to unleash the beast

I had a royal mail card left today so I expect it to be the medialink.
I did ring DAP two days ago to complain about it not coming, along with not being happy not receiving iBeats (bearing in mind I have already had a £36 refund from them after initially complaining) now DAP are sending me a pair of iBeats as well for the inconvenience caused

I got mine delivered from DAP today.
Its really simple to set up and use, but you can only use the phone in landscape mode. Web browsing works really well, and playing movies worked fine for me, I tested with a large high quality 720p .AVI film played through MX Player and the quality was great but there was occassional judder on the TV that I didnt see on the phone.
I think the medialink has some inbuilt memory for caching as if you view 1080p video recorded on the phone it seems to preload/buffer the video before playing it. The quality is really good with recorded 1080p clips and I didnt see any judder at all.
I've got the Orange Panther swappables with streaming sky sports and that also worked, although the quality of the video stream is really bad, it was only just about watchable.
I'm really impressed with it, especially as it was a freebie for pre-ordering.
I got mine on Wednesday, was a nice bonus as I had forgot all about it.
It works well on my 32" samsung led tv, internet etc works very well
Videos work really well, streaming on 50inch tv and feels like I'm watching a hd channel

HTC MediaLink worth it?

I'm an AT&T US One X owner and am wondering if the MediaLink is worth a purchase. I'm seeing some mixed results in the other thread but this is definitely a big part of owning an HTC One phone.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
only one that could really answer that is you, i mean having it for just having it or get some real use out of it in which case there are better, cheaper options out there.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
want to put your content on a bigger screen? watch movies on a bigger screen? show off your apps and features on a big screen? If your answer is yes to one or all of these then it is worth it. otherwise don't bother
Only reason I'm asking is because some people reported that its buggy and doesn't work 100% correctly.

Actually, it's not much of a feature of the One Range, and I couldn't justify paying over £20 for it let alone £70, I just use my HDMI cable and adapter
HTC Media Link HD - First Look
Love it .
I've just ordered the eu version from amazon UK for £54 which I think is a fairer price. The earlier model is only £10 cheaper. £70 was way over the top for this device when you consider how much you have already spent on the device
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I don't know if you've read my review, but I find it useful. I've actually found myself streaming music to my av center through my tv when my pc is off. Very easy and like other users have said, the rest of your media on a big screen is fantastic and easy and wireless! £54 is a great price too I think it's definitely worth that much.
Personally i would buy a device that works with DLNA for any device, so not necessarily the HTC MediaLink. If you ever switch from HTC to Samsung for example, you still be able to use it. It's kinda of a waste of money if it becomes useless when you switch brands. MHL adapter would also be a nice choice.
it seems like a good thing to have at home to show off to your friends, but beyond that i think that the hdmi and adapter option is cheaper also less prone to lag. Will tell more once it finally launches here and i get an opportunity to use it

Should I get 'SH25' batch HOZ??

hello members,
I've been waiting for quite a while to get HOX....at last time has arrived for me....
But for my bad luck, HOX from SH25 batches are only available in my area(INDIA).
So, I just want your opinion on this, as it from MAY batch, i'm doubtful about its hardware issues
the question is; SHOULD I BUY HOX FROM SH25 BATCH??
IS THERE ANY HARDWARE ISSUES WITH THOSE BATCH HOX?

Well, they're not really different versions. Sounds more like binning to me, with the bin written to the chip.
I have the Grey SH25FW since a month now and its been running awesome ! No issues at all :fingers-crossed:

DEAD One X, in search for a good parts seller...

Hi all,
I have a One X (thanks god mine is fine ) and my cousin had another. His One X is now DEAD, it worked fine for about 15 days, but after a fall from a height of about 1,2m (4 feet) it simply turned off a refused to turn on again.
It doesn't turn on the led while trying to charge, it doesn't respond to any command.}
I have oppened his One X (I have a lot of experience fixing simple stuff inside phones) and didn't find anything out of the ordinary in it. Nothing abnormal.
We have already sent it to a repair store here in Brazil (and now you know part of my problem) and the store told us there was a problem in the main board and that they can't fix it.
So I'm asking you guys, can you give me an address (online one) of a good and respected phone parts store? That way I could change his board and give life back to his phone.
I have changed some parts of his phone iwth mine, and the parts are working (screen is without a single scratch and works), antennas, power connector and etc...
So the problem should really be the main board (the one with the Tegra 3 in it).
Please treat it as a no warranty device, we already gave up sending the device to england to fix it. UK UNLOCKED GREY DEVICE!
Thanks in advance.
I already buy a battery on this site and no problem.

Thanks, I've seen they do have the main board, but it is unavaiable and saing to ask them about it. I will do it, since I want to help my cousin with his phone, and do think they probably don't have it in stock because it is probably an item that doesn't have the same number of requests as smaller or more breakable (screen for example) items.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep you posted about the results.
Greetings, Santroph.
I hope for you and your cousin that you find a solution to this problem.

Well I'm not really tring to sell it, or even buy a used Main Board (although that could work also). The main reason is to try to fiz the phone, and not sell as a broken one. What TG64 sent me was a nice store that do have the Main Board. I just don't know yet how much it would cost, and if it would be a prohibitive price or not.
When I get to know I'll surely post it here.
Main boards shouldn't cost as much as a phone. Even if they are a big part of the cost, the screen is also another big part of the cost of a complete phone. In my opinion the price for each should be more like 35% of a new phone for the main and 30% for the screen.
If it is like that, it surely is better than buying a whole new phone.
Cheers,
Santroph.

Sending phone to repair service

So, I bought my phone from someone like 5 months ago, and it works fine except for two things. First the camera does not focuses on macro o close up pictures. It just doesn't, no matter what I try.
And secondly, something that started recently, the WiFi drops....even next to the router. I read somewhere here that it was a manufacturer problem. So I called HTC and they told me I am under warranty and that I should send my phone to them. Question is:
Will they give me another phone? Something I want but with the same CID (0_44 here) and, how long will they take to fix this? I know these are kinda weird questions but maybe someone is able to answer them. Thanks.

Girl said she couldn't tell me. It "depends on each case" and that's why I come here. Someone might have sent their phone for similar reasons.

We don't know what country you are in, we don't know what service centre you're referring to, we don't know what stock they have, we don't know what backlog they might have, some of those things change with time, we don't know what other problems they might find. It depends on each case.
I'm not sure how anybody here could be more qualified than HTC repair centre to answer the question.
HTC service in Hong Kong told me typically three business days for the WiFi problem, I don't know if that includes the pick up and delivery days
The girl in the US checked my serial number which would tell her my cellphone is CID_044 right?
She didn't tell me I was gonna pay or that they couldn't fix it cuz it was not bought from USA. Is it safe for me to send it?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Well HTC__044 is an asian phone, and the international One X is not sold in the US. I've heard that they can't import new motherboards due to some patent infringement, but that may have changed now.

Well, yes, but if it requires importing a component that would go against an import ban, that would mean breaking the law, and I'm sure you can understand why they might be inclined not to do that.
