Hey guys,
I tried flashing Franco kernel on my GNex running Foxhound black edition 0.6 yesterday. Strangely, after flashing it, the device refused to boot up.
Luckily I had trinity kernel (which I was initially on) on my SD and I flashed it through CW recovery. After flashing it, my Gnex was stuck in bootloop. I had no choice but to restore it.
After I restored it, I no longer had boot animation.. it was just a blank screen between the Google logo and the lockscreen.
Boot animation was enabled in the ROM controls. So I really don't know what I did wrong.
How can I fix this?

is there a bootanimation.zip in your /system/media folder? if no there is your answer ... copy one in there with root explorer
if all else fails do a full wipe including /system and re-flash your rom

My phone (Desire HD) is stuck at the white screen with htc written in green. Here is what I did
clockworkmod 3.0.0.5
Rom is miui 1.1.22
1 - Did a nandroid backup
2 - installed full-wipe-1.3.zip
3 - installed miui 1.2.19
Rebooted, and everything booted up ok. Everything was fine and working at this stage. However I had no apps installed, and no contact info. I am guessing full wipe got rid of them all. I then
4 - did a restore of the nandroid image created in step 1 No erros were reported.
The image was restored, and I then rebooted the phone. Phone rebooted but is now stuck at the white screen. I waited around a minute, and removed the battery and then rebooted. Phone still stuck at white screen. Restored the image again, same thing.
Anybody know how I can restore the image I created in step 1?
I do have an older image on my pc. How can I get this image onto my phone? Maybe I could try restoring this image.
The backup should be on your MicroSD no?
Boot into Bootloader (hold down the volume down when powering on the device).
Select Recovery to enter CWM.
You know what to do from there!

The backup is on my sd card. I can select it, and it restores the image. I dont get any errors from the restore process. Once the image is restored I reboot my phone, thats when it gets stuck on the white screen with the green htc logo.
From fastboot flash an older version of clockwork not in the 3.0 series. It only works on 2.3 gingerbread roms. Then you'll be able to boot up.

This MIUI thread (see post 2), seems to think it does work with clockworkmod 3.0.0.5.
I am
Thanks pwraggcan!!!!
I did what you suggested, albeit it wasnt as straight forward as it should have been. Installed rom manager and clockworkmod 2.5. I then restored an backup created with clockworkmod 3.0.0.5. I wasnt sure this would work, but it did .
The only problem is, that I have spent around 3hrs of messing around with my phone, whilst at work...so have a bit of catching up to do .
Thanks again
Glad to help.

Hi, I am new to the forum. And very new to rooting phone. And due to my lack of knowledge, here's the problem that I have as a result:
I have an UNFLASHABLE GSM unlocked galaxy nexus gt-i9250. Had it successfully rooted two days after I had it 3 weeks ago. I have flashed MIUI via CWM premium edition and it worked fine. I recently flashed AOKP Build 32 with the latest Leankernel baseband xx66 and have been running it fine for 4 days until now.
I just flashed [Amoled BLUE 2.2 for AOKP build 32] and stuck on boot loop for 2 hours now.
I made NANDROID of my rooted stock, but the problem is that I DID NOT have it saved on my Galaxy Nexus. What to do??? Please help.
You're fine buddy.
Boot into CWM...
(Power phone off by pulling battery. Power on with power+volume up+volume down)
Select the recovery option.
Wipe data (factory reset)
Flash ANY rom.
You'll boot right up.
Now move your nandroid to your phone and restore.
Edit:
Oh, and check my sig.
The second and third posts may be useful to you.
Thanks. I did everything you mentioned and still stuck in the AMOLED Blue theme anime boot loop.
So, another question that arises is how do I flash rom when I can't get past the boot loop with no NANDROID or backups stored in my Nexus?

You didn't do what I mentioned if you're asking how to flash the rom.

Download the rom you'd like to try on your device.
Most roms also require you to install "gapps" as well.
You can find the correct ones for the rom you're using in the rom thread.
Make sure the Rom and Gapps are on your SD card.
Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery by turning your device completely off. Hold volume up, volume down, and power until the green Android with the open chest is displayed. Navigate to "Recovery Mode" with the volume buttons and select using the power button.
Remember to have a recent nandroid before continuing!
Navigate to "wipe data/factory reset" and select it. Select "yes."
Wait for the process to complete. This may take some time. Be patient!
Once complete: Navigate to "Install Zip from SD card" and "Choose zip from SD card."
Find the rom's .zip and install it. Once that completes install any applicable gapps' .zip.
Select the "Reboot" option.
Congratulations! Your phone should now boot into the custom rom!
Follow the prompts to re-activate your phone.

This post may help as well...

It describes getting your files transferred to your phone.
But if you have a rom .zip on there you don't need this.
I didn't asked for how to flash a rom. I asked how to bypass the boot loop. Argh...
Okay, I flashed Amoled blue for AOKP build 32. I get stuck on boot loop anime after flashing it via CWM. Yes, I did a cavlik cache wipe before the flash.
But I'm stuck on boot loop, why?

And I'm telling you how, mate.
Don't flash the theme.
Flash a ROM.
The theme isn't a full system...which is what you need.
And you need to wipe data.
Edit:
I'll take it by your lack of response that this fixed it.
You're welcome.

Hey guys, I have a gnex, no problems. I've put codename android (multiple versions no prob) on mine. My brother got a gnex, I rooted using wugs, installed codename 1.6, and a few days later he stops by saying it won't turn back on. I try to get it to boot and it won't even power on. No recovery, boot loader or Odin. Finally get it to boot loader, get into cwm, and wipe, wipe, and reinstall codename. It will get to the multicolored tiles rotating, stop and start a few times, then reboot. Tried reistalling his backup I did from stock but it says bad md5. With wigs, how do I get back stock if all I can get in is boot loader or cwm? Thanks for the help.

You can allways install stock with fastboot.
Download it here:

I've flashed 4 times the Vicious V3 and TR4NSCEND ROM once last night. Each time the ROM works fine and then I reboot it and it goes into bootloop mode. I lose all data and have to reload the OS from scratch. I've followed all the instructions to the letter, and still the JB ROM works for a day or so and then it crashed.
What could be the issue? Is it a phone (hardware issue), one of the appa that I'm using, or something I'm doing wrong?
When I'm retoring the apps, I'm not reinstalling the data, apps only.
Really getting tired of reflashing the ROM and having it crash.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
At list yours can boot up.. mine just stock in boot loop the first time I flash jb rom it works and I used it for a couple of days and try to flash different jb rom then boom! Boot loop.. I've flash 3 different jb rom with no success.. I'm not new to this stuff I've flash more than 100 different rom since vibrant gs2 and now gnex. I really don't have any idea what happen.. I think one of the jb rom had mess up my gnex. I've I restore to fresh and unbrick state many times and every time I flash jb rom it just stock in boot loop.. I read in some post that I should wait but I don't think 30to 1hr in boot loop is to long.

does it bootloop when boot animation is rolling, or on the google screen?
if it is the first, then connect the phone to adbd, and see 'adb logcat', there might be some useful information there.
if it is the second, there must be something else. do you use an app to reboot? which recovery? if you shut the device down, and power up again, does it still bootloop?
advice: reflash stock from fastboot, flash cwm non touch or twrp 2.1.2, reboot to recovery, flash rom
advice update: use cwm 6.x.x.x or TWRP 2.2.x
long first boot
I am also encountering boot issues. On my Toro Gnex with every ROM I have put on that is Jelly Bean ( vicious, and bug less beast) the first boot just sits at the Google logo. If I do a battery pull and try to start my phone again it boots up within a minute. I will try the log to see what it reads and I will post the results. Is this happening to everyone else where it sits at the Google logo until you do battery pull?
Mine sits at Google logo regardless if I do a battery pull or data wipe on toro galaxy nexus.

Having similar issues - phone will be operational for around 20 seconds, then reboots - but it does not show the Google logo, only the coloured Nexus logo.
Additionally, for me it ONLY happens when WiFi is enabled. Hope this helps someone!
I had this problem on my gnex toro and I managed to get around it by:
Back up any data or be prepared to lose it
Reflash phone to factory 4.0.2 image using GNEX TOOLKIT (google [GNex TOOLKIT V7.4] )
Let the phone boot on stock OS
Download the ROM you'd like to flash on to your phone's sdcard
Shutdown and start on bootloader / fastboot (power + both volume buttons while phone is off)
Flash CWM recovery
Boot in to CWM recovery
Factory data reset
Flash zip from SD card
Reboot and let it load completely
I hope this helps. The gnex toolkit is really helpful and it resolved my issues with getting Vicious and other roms to load
When you say flash cwm you mean flash a zip file of cwm? I've use toolkit 7.4 many times with no problem.. I can restore flash new ics rom.. but when I flash a jb rom any kind of jb rom my phone will be just stock in nexus logo..

I've been trying out various ROMs and am familiar with flashing etc. I'm using Clockworkmod touch recovery. I flashed Unofficial Multilang MIUI4 - v 3.2.1 [02-02-2013] and now when I try to boot it gets stuck on the HTC white screen. I have to pull the battery to turn off the phone.
I have tried flashing another ROM and I still get stuck on the HTC screen.
I have tried doing a nand restore and still get's stuck.
Any idea how to fix this?

I flashed a sense ROM and this time it booted normally after installing the ROM. I'm not sure if I did anything differently, but now everything works as it should.
Try chilly's anti venom wipe before you flash a new ROM.
