Hi all,
Hoping for a little bit of help here. I'm running the Google Music app on a stock Nexus Galaxy (4.0.1 yakju) and for whatever reason I can't access the bass boost or 3D effect buttons on the equalizer. They are blanked out. I can change the dB levels on the different frequencies but the two aforementioned buttons remain fixed and inaccessible.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you.

I assume you already did try restarting the device.
Any other equalizers or the like installed that could interfere with it?
Good tip. Thx.
Already restarted the phone and I don't have any other music apps or equalizers installed. So that kinda leaves me at square 1.

Weird.
Only thing I can think of right now is: go into settings > apps, find which music related apps are running and try deleting their data and cache. Or try force closing them and reboot again.
You need to have a pair of headphones plugged in to access the EQ I believe.

This is correct, you must have either the aux port plugged in or headphones.. I can't remember if it works with my Bluetooth speaker or not.. I wanna say it does but I'm not certain.

Guys, thanks for the replies.
You were right. I just plugged in a pair of headphones and the bass boost + 3D effect became responsive.
Thanks again for the help

Recently i've bought my new earbuds (philips) though they don't have any "control" option where you can track skip and stuff like that but my phone changes music track by itself. I have tried changing roms (sense to miui) and changed music players as well but it's the same.
DO you think it is a problem of phone or my headphones. I mean the same thing happened when i was listening to radio, the tracks started changing all of a sudden. Also my headphones seem to be fine when they're connected to my laptop.
Any ideas?
Sometimes regular headphones cause problems with the phone due to incorrect contacts in the 3.5mm connector.
Search google play for "headset blocker" it'll do the job

Ok, it's not working for me lol, it doesn't matter whether it is enabled or disabled, it just doesn't work and the music changes by itself all the time sometimes very fast sometimes in the middle of the song.
Any other tip?

Had the same problem, especially in ics. Anyone a solution?

You should try to clean the phones jack. I had a lot of dust there and it caused just that same issue.

did you fix the problem by cleaning your jack?
Mostly yes, it still does it but wery rarely. You should search google for instructions.

ok so i've cleaned it properly (with a cotton bud, stuck inside) and there seemed to be some dust but it still doesn't solve the problem :/
btw, the ear buds i'm using, they have 2 strips on the jack, instead of 3 from the official earphones.

I found that I need to reboot for the change to take effect.
With that app headset blocker.
While the headphone is jacked in the phone, enable the headset blocker.
Because that's the way I do it and it seems to fix my random music skip/pause problems.
Headset blocked worked in every gingerbread roms. Sense(coredroid, arhd, runny Droid and more) and so with cm7 roms (absolution, black ice). Only rom that didn't work on was ICS, because ICS is still being developed.

I'm using miui and it doesn't seem to fix the problem at all. What works for me is when i pull the headphones out a bit but whenever i put it in my pocket it goes back to the same position and the problem occurs. I'll try to flash another (GB) rom and see if headset blocker would work.
Other tips are welcome and very much appreciated. Thanks
I have been getting that problem for the past few weeks... I want to know if the prob is in my phone or somewhere else... Btw my phone is alcatel one touch idol alpha
I have a problem with my audio jack, it will not find headphones and if it finds one it will give several problems, or it will disconnect so i have to replug it, or it the headphone sign in the statusbar changes to a headphone with microfone and it stops the music and starts calling the last person i have called or i have been called. Or the music will play but it will randomly play other songs etc, can anyone help me or is this a problem with the audiojack and do i news to send it back to HTC to repair it?
Does the problem happen with all headphones?
And the headphones that you do use, do they have buttons on them from which you can change song, pick up calls etc?

One of them has, same problem as the others that dont
Umm, contact HTC and see what they say, avoid going to a repair shop as they don't always know what they are doing.
Sorry about that

So today I at work and my boss walks over and ask me to turn down my music..... I had my headphones in and did not have it up very loud.
Several min later I get a phone call, a few min in he walks over and asked if I was on a personal call. I said no and the person continued to talk, what I didn't know was all the sound coming through the headphones was also being played on my phone speaker.
No looked it up and many people have the notifications sound problem, but couldn't find one that really had the same problem as me.
No matter what watch on YouTube or listen to in my music player the phone will play the sound on both headphones and speaker.
Any help with this problem guys?

Who's rom are you using? Also try a different pair of headphones. If the jack on your headphones is bent or not connecting correctly it will cause that to happen.
That happens when the headphone jack is not pushed all the way down!

I think you might also want to be sure the Phone is not in "Driving Mode"...
I just had the same problem. I was listening to Google music for a few hours no problem, but one track decided to play threw the speaker and not the headphones. Not sure what happened, I skipped the track and all was good again.

That has happen to me recently, it varies at one point it was when I was using YouTube but it left after I kept plugging headphone jack out and in a couple times try that.

Funny, when I play games and have music playing at the same time I have the same thing happen. Perhaps the next update in May will fix this?

I have the same problem too! Its really fustrating anyone has a solution?
Try changing the AUX wire. There might be some loose connection.

tried with 3 wires and 2 cars.. problem persists within the phone itself

I use my Nexus the same way, with an aux cable in my car. I use Google Play Music and I never have this issue. I notice it may pause for a second when I turn the screen off but after that, its all good. Is that what you mean or does it do it constantly? I also stream my music with Play Music. But I have also played some files right off my phone with no issues as well.
yes it pause then plays again goes on this way.. i just can't play my music arghh soo frustrated with it:/

So it pauses then plays, pauses then plays, pauses then plays....nonstop? I never had that issue. Maybe its your stereo.

I have the same problem. Not only with car aux but with any auxiliary device, including headphones. Also this happens with any music app, any custom ROM. Audio plays fine without anything plugged in. A solution if possible would be awesome cause its super frustrating.

this happens a lot!!!
here's what I did:
Use a player app that has de the ability to disable lockscreen music control (like poweramp or nexmusic)
That helps with the constant interruptions when playing music. they keep happening but not so often
I hope this helps
I've seen something like this before...if you are using trickster and the headphone volume boost is on try turning it off..with my phone a setting over 1 will cause my phone to hiccup while plugged into an aux jack...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
tried trickster settings.. all are off.. still happening..
infact now with the new play music it constantly keeps on happening i have to use poweramp and it happens randomly in between .. a permanent and constant fix is needed as many are facing this problem

ok figured out the solution.. in trickster set high performance volume to off.. and other one to 3..
