Outrageous Story of HTCdev Bootloader Unlocking in Hong Kong and Requiring a Repair - HTC One X

Hey everyone.
So basically, I live in Hong Kong, and there is an official HTC support center.
So I bought an HTC One X from my carrier, and then after a few days, I noticed I had a yellow spot, but before I detected this problem, I already went on HTCdev and unlocked my bootloader. So I called up HTC HK and talked to a guy, he insisted that I am able to fix it for free. Now, don't ask me why my carrier didn't take it in, they said I must bring it to HTC support center in Yau Ma Tei because it was beyond the 7 day in-store exchange warranty.
I sent my phone in the first time because of the screen issue, and it took about a week. They called me and said, that they are unable to replace the entire device because I unlocked the bootloader, telling me it will cost HKD 1800, and I said, NO! I sent it in because of the screen and not the motherboard! They replaced my phone's screen only, and not the entire device. So when I got my phone back, I had the exact motherboard which said "RELOCKED" and my Serial number matched up with my old one. So they had their hands digging through my 12 day old phone. I checked my phone for other defects, and wouldn't you know it, I found out ANOTHER problem on my screen, yellow spots appeared somewhere else as well as either a dead pixel was located in the middle of the screen, or a speck of dust, I'm not sure. So I yelled at them, and they took it back in.
The second time I sent it in, as I said before, was because of the unidentified dot in the middle of the screen AND the relocated yellow tint on the screen. As they stated before, they said they can't replace the entire device due to the unlocking of the bootloader, so they replaced the screen again. I was told to check the phone, and I found hairline cracks all over the phone. I WAS ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS. All those cracks were due to the repair and poor service, **** SERVICE REPAIR. Okay, I calmed down, I sent it back in, and they said they will replace the housing for me. I was infuriated at the fact that after I told them to repair it for me again, they told me that they will now ask a "Senior Technician" to look over this case, in my head I thought "WHAT THE ****, did you ****ing ask a "Junior technician" to fix this HKD5198 phone?" But I let it all slide, and I got it repaired again.
So yes, the last repair was because the casing was cracked. I took it back in, and was extremely dissatisfied with their repair service. So after listening to all the bull**** they told me AGAIN (voided warranty due to bootloader unlock), I verified my entire phone and checked everything, to make sure everything worked and looked good. I left the place with a fully functioning phone with no yellow spots and unidentified black spots on the screen.
I left the HTC support center, which is a 30 minute ride from my home area (Mid-Levels), and went to my service provider (one2free), I requested to see the senior manager of the company, waited for 15 minutes, and then when I saw him, we requested to speak in a private level of the shop. All staff were forced out of the level, and we started yelling at him. After 45 minutes of constant replies saying "We can't replace your phone directly because firstly, your phone is over the 7 day in-store exchange warranty, and secondly, we need to ask HTC for permission first". At this time, it was around 10pm, and he finally gave in because he was a nice person and we were one of the extreme-VIPs with over 10 unlimited contracts per month (HKD 500/number = HKD5000 a month). After a while, he finally decided to change my phone to the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE phone, which I used for one week. I rooted that phone, and when I restarted CWM recovery, the softkeys broke, even after stock software restore, it was still broken, so they exchanged it for a new phone.
I missed my beloved HTC One X because of the speed and elegancy, so I decided to head over to 3 HK (Hutchison Telecom HK) and my friend took my Samsung Galaxy S II, then helped me get a brand new second batch HTC One X under his number and I was so happy. Flawless to the perfect detail.
That was my story. You guys have any stories on your warranties and HTCdev unlocks? Post below!

That's one hell of a story xD. Good to hear it all turned out well even though you had to go through all that ****. I want to root my phone but because of these stories I don't want to unlock the bootloader...
I have a small yellow dot on the left side of the screen. It's almost not visible only if you look closely on a white background. It doesn't bother me and I could've gotten worse problems so yeah I decided to be happy with this model.

The first post in this thread started on May 2 warned everyone that HTC's no longer providing warranty repairs if they detect a device has had third party s/w loaded on to it. You can unlock the bootloader and still get work done under warranty but you can't load non-official ROMs. There are at least three different threads discussing this and one provides a link to spam HTC's blog in the UK voicing disapproval of the new policy.

Don't expect the manager to help you out much even if you are "VIP" and you go off at the manager hes going to think your an arse and just find the fastest way to get rid of you
I used to work for a service provider in back end and the staff from front desk would always come out to the back and the first thing they'd say is "some prick just went off at me" and if its something that particular staff member didn't do and it was another staff members fault your name and "your a prick gets passed" around the office and nobody will want to help
The best way, is just let whoever your speaking to, know that youre not happy with the service your getting and that you're not actually angry at THAT person your speaking to

Sounds like the device was fixed under warranty. His complaints are that he had to travel 30 minutes and ask more than once for repair.
He wanted a replacement device after voiding the warranty, but didn't want to pay for it, so they replaced the screen under warranty (twice?). And then the casing.
You can't please everybody.

I had a screen problem too but not a yellow spot. If i change the brightness to full and use a black wallpaper you can see a blue spot in the middle of the screen. This is my second HOX after i returned the first one through my carrier in australia because of screen flex and cracking and it took 2 weeks.

Read the entire forum post a few days ago. I sent the device in with a relocked bootloader with the stock RUU reinstalled in it. I know that there was no "illegal software" (as they called it in the other port) present on the device when I sent it in 3 times.

In Hong Kong, one2free/CSL 1O1O is the most "luxurious" and "prestigious" carriers out there for business and high-end markets, so they state. In theory they are supposed to give out good handsets and not flawed ones. Every handset could be flawed and the manufacturers don't want it to be flawed, but the fact that they had the policy of 7 day in-store exchange and I detected it one day after, is just stupid.
But, I know, we weren't actually actually mad at the person we were talking to, he was just trying to help. The other person who was actually furious was because of the phone. We resulted in a happy ending anyways, and that guy told him he wasn't angry at him, rather he was just angry at the service HTC had to provide. We're not that cold hearted you know
I understand where you're going where you said that reasoning is the best way to handle these types of situations, but then it also requires a bit of yelling, and I'll talk about it below.

Yes, you can't please everybody. But have a think about this: How could a repair center do such a crap job that they had to repair it 3 times consecutively? Did they not do a quality check after they fixed the device? I mean, even if I did want to just replace the screen, they should have done it more professionally, not break the casing while repairing the screen.

We're not really classified as the "complain society", we just have many lazy people working for high-end companies and don't do ****, try to get rid of their assigned jobs as soon as possible and just slack off. Without requesting (yelling) to see the manager, they probably would just lie to you and say "Sorry! The manager is not here". As soon as they know how furious we are, they wouldn't mess with us and they would do their job properly.
Maybe if you lived in Hong Kong long enough and had the experience of poor service everywhere, you would know that yelling at them to get them to do something is the only way to get what you want.
If we didn't yell at them, they wouldn't have even prioritized this problem and just told us to leave with a broken phone because of a manufacturing defect on the phone THEY supplied.
This message is just to warn people that if you unlock your bootloader in Hong Kong, and you need a repair, they will repair, and not exchange, as many times as you want.
Hong Kong is a good place, but filled with lazy people due to the current social pressures. Let's say you try reasoning with them, without demanding them to look at your current VIP status, they would LITERALLY just ignore you, and tell you that they won't be able to replace it for you.

But try thinking, if you had your phone repaired, and then you knew it was an intern who repaired your phone, you would know it was poorly repaired or not, but most likely as your schemas will tell you that experts are more superior in skill that interns.
To be honest, I was fine with my repaired phone. It was the other guy I was with who had a bad day, and demanded that I go exchange my phone at my carrier. I gave my phone to him and went off looking at other phones, and he was just yelling at them in the private room. I didn't know how they actually got it exchanged, but the reasoning guy was there as well, so I guess after some demand to realize priority in this situation, and then 30 minutes of reasoning, everything worked out fine. I got my phone and left, really without saying a word.

Well, I have to agree that the repairwork sounds shoddy. When they fixed my DesireHD, they did great job in Yau Ma Tei.
And yes, service can be bad here.

Can I ask somethin about that famous yellow screen defect and flex issue?
Is it something that the phone comes with from the first day or is it developed gradually?
I mean, if we know that those are the 2 well-known issues, when we buy our phone we can check it for a couple of days and then root. Now, if the problem will develop later, we are in trouble. I'm waiting mine in a few weeks and that's why I ask.

We are one hell of an abusive customer is king society.
I worked in service sector for half and it is insanely difficult to please any customers.
People asking for special favors or deals because they are buying expensive items.
I know that sometimes it feels like you have to get the situation serious for them to do anything. But most often when you have to go that far, you are disturbing other customer's who are being serviced.
The manager resolved to those solutions (such as giving a replacement phone when warrenty is void) is actually to shut you up asap. You aren't meant to get repair or replacement once warrenty is void (or so I think it is anyway).
Now that you or your fd has got it, you would feel it is their fault at the start for not just giving you one.
But you ain't supposed to have one.
So don't call them ridiculous, or need to yell to get them do something.
Generally these cases are out of standard routine and not fair for other customers

As stated, I did all this at night, in a special room. No other customers were there, it was dead quiet.
The point isn't that I voided my warranty. It is half of what I'm saying. We were upset of the job HTC did to repair my phone. And obviously its not like they didn't take my phone because of the warranty void, it was that we wanted to exchange a defective phone 12 days after purchase, 5 days beyond in-store exchange. Even 3 has a 14 day in-store replacement service, why does 1O1O only have 7? That's what I'm saying. Hong Kong carriers don't really give a damn if you unlocked your bootloaders, they don't know how to even check, its only the HTC service center that does this.
The point is, I am supposed to be issued a replacement if the phone THEY supplied had a defect and I had to go exchange it three times. They didn't care for bootloader unlocks, they just cared for their stupid 7 day in-store warranty and their lack of support after that.

I just got a new GT-I9210 LTE and the rooting information is very confusing everywhere, people using Skyrocket ROMs and such claiming they're the same, but many saying the soft keys broke. Apparently this particular model doesn't have a solid community of users like Nexus or others. So I'm quite anxious about making mistakes and all, you know ;-)
And I happened to come across your post in another thread titled "[Q] Samsung Galaxy S II LTE Root [SOLVED]" from May 9, where you said that you successfully rooted SGS2 LTE (your mentioned specs exactly match mine) and your soft keys and everything works perfectly.
Now, I'm not trying to catch you out or anything, I was very excited when I found your instructions there first but I am just wondering, is this the same phone you are talking about here and there?
I would like to follow your method if it really worked.

Faulty Desire? Safe Mode and button problem

Hi all,
My missus has a UK T-Mobile Desire, it is bog standard, not been updated with a new rom or even Froyo. Today it showed the Android boot loader and then when it eventually decided to boot it seemed to be stuck in Safe Mode and the Home, Menu and Back buttons don't work.
I'm not sure what might have caused this, it's been running fine.... would a hard reset possibly fix the problem?

if you havn't done anything to the phone, return it and get a new one just back up all your things to outlook or gmail or whatever you prefer and you are ready for a new Desire

Another thing about two weeks ago the Facebook Friends Stream Widget apparently stopped working for no apparent reason, I don't know if this and the bottom problem is linked...
I'll backup all her contacts etc later and try a hard reset then if necessary speak to T-mobile tomorrow.

Tried a hard reset tonight and that made no difference. But playing with the buttons on boot and the phone booted normally..... all the buttons fully operational
Didn't last for long though.... the phone locked and I had to remove the battery.... guess what - SAFE MODE
Holding down the four buttons prevents the Safe Mode words displaying but the four buttons still don't work. I am going to call T-mobile tomorrow and see what they say.

i had so much trouble with HTC when i had the HD2 but after enough arguing over the phone and threatening them with the sales of goods act they played fair and not only repaired the HD2 but gave me the Desire and a better contract.
how long have you had the phone for?
if you've had it for less than 6 months then phone T-Mobile and demand a new phone because it is covered under that law. That's right, T-Mobile, not HTC, because your contract is with them and it is up to them to supply you with a working phone for the contract agreement and the act states that these goods must last a certain period of time. So phone them up and tell them.

To be honest with you I would have sent it to Tmobile and let them deal with HTC. When you bought the handset you entered into a contract with the retailer for the warranty, not the manufacturer. This is not the airtime contract I'm talking about by the way, that is a seperate issue.
I think you should get on to Tmobile about this and tell them you want it sorted asap. You can also contact Consumer Direct by clicking HERE. They will advise you on what your rights are and how to sort your problem out.
You should also look at getting a report from HTC to state exactly what they say the cause of damage was. At least then you will know what you are up against.
I called T-mobile earlier today to tell them what had happened... I was routed through to a call centre in Asia. The person was helpful to an extent... listened... went away... and returned and said that if the Manufacturer said the the phone is damaged and not covered by warranty then there is nothing they can do.
They suggested I take the phone into a T-mobile shop and pay for an exchange (yeah right!). I quoted the SOGA stuff and they have now said that a manager would call me back in 24 hours - the operator could not put me through to a manager nor could my call be re-routed to a UK based agent.
So at this stage I'm no better off really.
I have since heard back from HTC... and a rather abrupt message that I am not happy about... they have also taken two images that I assume shows "damage" there is no explanation with the pictures though...
One image shows a small white stick that half of which has turned red, another shows the motherboard and some circuitry and a small arrow pointing to it.. it looks fine to my untrained eye. Assuming it is damaged in some way is it possible that this is linked to moisture or as there have been issues with Desire motherboards could this be the same thing?
If anyone wants to see the images then I will email them...

My reply:
I have viewed the images and am unclear what exact "damage" exists, I will need this to be described fully in a report that summarises the exact nature and extent of any damage and repair required. I assume that the red label indicates the existence of moisture however is it not possible that this could have been activated due to ambience or humidity?
Under the Sale Of Goods Act, any fault that develops within the first six months of a product being sold is deemed to have been present at the time of sale. Since owning the phone, no incident that I am aware of has occurred that would give rise to the damage you say has been discovered, so the Sale Of Goods Act would come in to force. T-Mobile provided the phone in a sealed box, so I do not see how the damage could be down to them and as the ultimate supplier of the phone, I would have to hold you responsible for the sale of defective goods. Under the terms of the Act, it IS FOR YOU TO PROVE OTHERWISE or accept the repair or replacement of the phone at your expense.
In addition the handset is not out of warranty, in fact it is only 4 months old. It was also sent to you in a semi functional state - in other words it could be used fully except that just the bottom row of bottoms (excluding the roller) were not working. Can you please confirm that this is still the case should the handset be reassembled and returned.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU, HTC OR ANY PERSON ACTING ON BEHALF OF HTC DISCARD THE HANDSET AS THIS MAY CONSTITUTE A CRIMINAL ACT
I wish to make a formal compliant about the way in which this case has been handled, namely:-
1. I was never told nor did I agree that charges for both repair or return could be charged.
2. I was led to believe that the handset was still within warranty and would be repaired accordingly.
3. I have been told that you must replace items that do not need replacement, such as the LCD screen and the plastic surround which are known to have minor scratches consistent with fair wear and tear.

[Q] Sending TP2 to HTC for repair under warranty. Couple questions...

I bought my TouchPro2 through Mobile Phones Direct.co.uk, back in June '09. Just recently it started giving me problems with the ExtUSB. Have to fiddle with it just to make it take a charge, and I've given up trying to get to to connect to PC via USB.
Today it has got to the point where sliding the screen up or down too fast turns the phone off. Then I have to press power button to turn it on again.
I understand HTC supply a 24 month warranty. At least that's what my warranty card leaflet says. I already check the water indicators on the bottom of battery and next to MicroSD slot, they are both good (white with red crosshatchings.)
I have two concerns thought.
1) Is there a way for me to confirm that the Rom/SPL etc that I am using are the official ones that won't validate my warranty. I am pretty sure I never did any modding to this phone, only to my old Kaiser. But to be sure I would like to double check. ANy advice on how to do this?
2) My major worry is that my phone has loads of scratches on the screen, on the corners where paint is chipped. The battery cover is in a bad way too, the top left corner has a small crack and the metal strip in the middle of it has broken off around the camera lens.
So I am worried that HTC will tell me that whatever my problems are are because of normal wear and tear and therefore wont fix my phone. The thing is though all these problems are merely aesthetic which is why they never bothered me too much (at least once the first scratch is out the way anyway). My phone worked fine for ages despite these superficial defects (I never used a screen protector or case, phone used to go in my pocket along with coins, keys etc., and of course it did sustain the occasional drop).
Can anyone advise me as to whether this will be a problem? If HTC refused to fix/replace it then I would rather not send it in, to avoid the fee for returning it.
P.S. Also I don't know if I still have the paper invoice to prove purchase, will the emailed invoice be proof of purchase if I can't find the paper copy?
Oh yeh and finally, I don't have any insurance, so I am completely dependent on this warranty being honoured.l
I returned my Pro2 to the UK centre earlier this year. They don't need proof of purchase believe it or not, they never asked me once for mine, however, the electronic one will be fine as say you bought it on eBay, you wouldn't have a paper copy necessarily.
Also, I was using using a different stylus, had many programs like HD Walls and REStart and so on packed in there. Changed the home screen, even edited the files in the Windows directory that mailla used, altering them to say "Kev's Messages" and so on, and they never said a thing to me. My reason for returning is that the hard keys weren't working, they repaired it and flashed a new ROM on it and they never once had an issue with the "state" (if you will) that my Pro2 was in. Also I had many scratches on the battery pack and so on so I think you'll be fine! I hope this helps!

In the mean time if anyone has any other advice than please let me know before I arrange for it to be sent in tomorrow.

they originally sent me email saying device wasnt in warranty choose 1 of 3 options
1) pay 160ish £ to repair device
2) pay 20 to have device returned to me
3) allow htc to dispose of device
obviously didnt want to choose any of the 3 options, so i rang htc. spoke to someone who repeated options to me, saying if i did nothing then my device would be disposed of. I said i want to escalate matter, he told me theres no point, they'll tell me the same thing. I said i want to escalate anwyay, he told me to fill out service escalation form from htc website. found this at http://www.htc.com/uk/serviceescalation.aspx (even though its not linked to, anywhere in uk htc site)
filled that out on 6/10/10. never got any reply or anything. last friday 22/10/10 i got another email asking which option of the 3 i wanted to choose. rang htc back, told em how come no ones replied to my service escalation form, first person told me that the guy i originally spoke to (6/10/10) WAS the guy who escalated the issue, i was like WTF?? she said hang on, passed me to someone else, who said it had been escalated , i just didnt get the reply, but that he had in writing from the people who the matter was escalated to, that phone wont be fixed under warranty, i started complainign, saying i filled out the escalation form because i wanted to speak to someone who was higher up, and that i gave my contact details so i expected a reply FROM THEM. He then said he'd let me speak to his superior, which i did, and that guy repeated the same, first saying what form did i fill out, calaiming theres only customer care form on the website, but i told him original guy i spoke to told me to fill out the service escalation form, which i found (only by googling and guessing url).
I told him check the phone convo which should have been recorded, and he would see that i was advised to fill out SERVICE ESCALATION form from HTC website, which i did. he said he will check photos to see if the visual damage is minor enough that they will continue to repair anyway, (i doubt it , coz it had one pretty deep scratch in the screen, and back battery cover was cracked in corner). He also said he'll get original guy who i told me to fill out esclation form to call me back tomorrow.
I think theyre lying, noone seems to have done anythign about my escalation form. They say that the matter was escalated and that they have it back, in writing, that phone is not under warranty, but then why didnt anyone tell me anyof this, i wasn't contacted despite leaving contact info in contact fields of escalation form.
GRRRR, i knew this would happen, any excuse to get out of fixing the damn thing, i keep saying that im not bothered about the aesthetic damage (scratched screen, small crack in battery cover) since my phone worked fine for ages WITH these problems. i want them to fix the fact that my phones extUSB connector has gone dodgy, and that phones turns off, when i slide it open.
Not had phone for ages now, using old kaiser, but the touch screen doesnt work on this.
so bascally they are ssaying that due to visual damage (scratch, crack) phone isnt in warranty. I keep saying thats not whats caused problem, so just fix problem then. they say they can't half fix phone. so i say then fix the whole thing, but dont ask me to pay for it.

BEWARE unless guaranteed in writing they will flash the device with the latest win 6.5 rom and you will lose everything.
Even if they agree not to touch it, still often hard reset!
I'm fighting them for a LOT of compensation - for time, ignoring written instructions and £80 of telephone calls. Wil sue them if don't get anywhere this week.

None of those things violate the warranty. Just hard resetting clears all of those. HardSPL and flashing a custom ROM violate the warranty.

Yeah but I just assumed if they picky they could refuse on the basis of "you're changing what you're not meant to"...

Worst Service EVER!!!

Guys,
Was wondering if any of you are suffering from HTC service center as i do.
Would like to let you know about my experience.
I have purchased my device about 6 months in Taiwan as in my country it wasn't available yet.
After a month of use i experienced some issues with the power button & 3G signal, and send the device to Greece service center.
After about 8 weeks that i didn't get my device back, I couldn't keep quite about the fix duration I raised a complaint via HTC site.
Surprisingly they have apologized (more then once) and sent me an "HTC Desire HD" as a compensation & my device was fix in a matter of days
Now things go terribly wrong, i got my device broken!!! and not by me, you could clearly see that in the attempt of pulling the screen out of the cover they have BROKEN it!!!
Yet again i found my self complaining about the "FIX" and the conclusion of the investigation that HTC raised was that i have broken it ???:silly:
Luckily for me i have talk with the local distributor about my case and he have changed my cover for FREE (yes, yes FREE!!!)
After all that saga i have found that the signal issue was not fix and i have send the device again to HTC Greece center.
They have signed on the delivery of the package on the 26/10/2012
UNTIL TODAY (AFTER 8 WEEKS) THEY ONLY SAY THAT THEY ARE WAITING FOR SOME PARTS TO FIX MY DEVICE!!!
I'm MAD for the premium money i had to pay for such a service.
I'm kind of HTC freak and had 8 different devices for about 6 years,I think that it's not becoming to such a large company to have service issues.
Hopefully will get my "ONE X" soon and start to enjoy it

Worsrt service in greece
I just got screwed from htc greece today...
I send my phone for repair the first time for screen scratches as i bought the phone and had scratches.
And after a month of lying that they cant see the serial number of the device i got it back with a note saying that they found no problem... a month to tell me they found no problem.
Second time i send it in after 5 months of having the device for the wi fi problem and those bastards at htc greece kept my phone for 40 days and then i tryed to contact them they said that they changed the battery and the motherboard and are waiting a third part NOT TRUE i got the device nack with the repair note saying that they only changed the motherboard.
After almost 2 months i got my device with a diferent problem it looses gsm signal and i have to restart the phone to get signal.
Here is the good part i send it back and they told me they wont accept my waranty because the screen is not in perfect place and i have to pay 180 euro for the repair WTF, the way i see it they are lying to avoid the waranty since they are the ones who opened my phone 3 times.
Screw htc greece they are thiefs trying to avoid my waranty, i even told them ok lets asume that the screen somehow moved why wont you change the damn faulty motherboard you installed, and they answer "sorry since the screen is a bit missplaced we cant accept the waranty".
Htc greece = fraud now i have to press charges for fraud...
Why did i even bother to leave the samsung sceen this was my first and last htc device.
No doubt it was a great device and it still is but htc greece service is the mafia of mobile phones..

they insist i have to pay...i contacted my lawyer and he will press charges for fraud. Such a same for a so great device to have such a lame servise.
To kedp it short i send in my device for the wi fi issue and they send it back with a faulty motherboard that they installed tha loosed gsm signal completely and i have to restart

man..if u want premium service..buy an Iphone....and in 5 days u'll recieve one new.
i think that my htc one x got some wifi issues but after reading some of the complaint about the services, i'm kind of afraid to send it for repair now.

from what i understand its better to solve the wi fi isue your self since you wont void the waranty.
you void the waranty if you remove the motherboard where the waranty sticker is
If you send it in for.service... then you are for a treat, they might even whant to avoid the waranty and try to make you pay like they did to me

Another week has passed, and we start week number 9.
Still no word from HTC service center about repair time frame.
I have also send a note to VP of customer care in FB :fingers-crossed: , but didn't get any reply just yet.
Really hope that my phone is not lost forever in there system.

if i have to pay for the wifi fix then i will go to law ...because it's not my fault and yes...but i hope germany and there " HTC service" is not so bad like in other countries...
propably you will be fine i dont think service in germany act like in greece, in greece they try to robe you, i bet if i had a single scratch they would say that scratching my phone voids the waranty.
I actually got the best service. My bootloader was relocked, and they replaced my whole screen and fixed the wifi hardware problem in 5 days. Of course they charged for the screen. Also, when I told them from which shop I bought it from, they didnt even ask for a receipt!
In every country you have another office and different people, people don't want to face that but they should think a bit further then only there nose.
A company policy should be legal and straight forward in a contract but a company can't help it if they have some lazy dickheads working for them who are fat up of the daily routine (which I can understand as well in certain circumstance :laugh
or some moaners on a forum who like to kill because they are not satisfied with 'some service' if you know what I mean. :laugh:
I personally had one issue with a phone of HTC (a few years ago) but they were so friendly on the phone when I called them, they asked me some details and picked up and returned the phone fixed in a couple of days.
Ofcourse if you buy a second hand phone on eBay with a limited or no warrentee you won't have the same service by HTC.
The phone I talk about I got as a present from someone who donated it to me from the US as a thanks because of the roms I cooked,
but HTC didn't have a problem at all repairing a US phone in the EU.
The only problem I had with this phone is that I had to pay a lot of import tax even if it was sent as a present.
You get my point? In all corners of the world you have different people and you can't just blame a company for that here on the board.

Sorry my friend, you totaly missed my point.
I have never tried to "KILL" HTC, there devices are my favorites and i have purchased 6 different models in the passed years.
i have tried to address the service support about my device more then enough for the last 9 weeks !!!
and always i find my self back i the same spot, that is the person in customer care say to me that they understand that it takes too long and they are sorry but they don't are a repair time frame.
And that my friend is not acceptable, i would think that HTC could send me a new device if they can't repair.
But there is no answer from HTC side and it's very disappointing, and i'm trying that someone will wake up and give the right service.
About all your other comments i would rather not address (lets keep it in an adult manner).

A friend in Romania with an Iphone 4S that was under warranty but with serious problems (signal,camera,battery not charging etc) was offer for free and iphone 4!!!!!!!!
Or if she didnt want that the gave her a discount of 150 euros to buy a new Iphone 4S......

Satisfied With My Repair Experience

I smashed my One X by accident. FYI, it was out of anger and frustration from dealing with my dicky roommie. The digitizer broke, and my screen went haywire. Once I turned it off, it refused to turn back on. It just remained dead in my room. I was hesitant to send my babe to repair because of all that horror experience people here discussed on XDA. I head stories of people getting their devices back unrepaired while having to go through unneeded payments, basically paying for extra services. I even heard from one guy saying how he has to pay much to get his device back if he doesn't want to deal with the repair fees, or else HTC will destroy it, sell it as refurbished product, who knows...
I tried opening up my device but only found out it was beyond my ability to diagnose the problem. I sent my device to some reputable third party repair shops for free diagnostics but to my surprise they said they didn't know what was wrong with it.
Reasoned that my device must be beyond being fixed, being still under international warranty, I contacted the HTC repair center here in U.S and inquired about some logistics about shipping. They were really friendly and was willing to engage in my conversation. They sounded like they already knew what was wrong with my device and ready to do their job.
I followed the instruction given to me through email, packed up my device, and bah bye...
The shipping did not take long, probably like 3 days at max. HTC even sent me updates on the repair process and inquired me about any additional information if needed. What's more, I ended up not having even to pay for the international warranty protection fees or something like that....$20 value. The device was fixed within a couple of days and sent back to me free of charge.
It was nicely packed inside, HTC style box, saying "I'm back." Anxious, I took out the phone and did some testing, and it works like a charm!! I noticed small gap at the bottom between the screen and back cover, but I guess it was due to my prying open.
Just some sharing of my experience with HTC. I don't know why people had bad experiences with them....

Wifi + Bluetooth not enabling anymore

I don't know what to do anymore. I am at your mercy. Tried everything I can. Can't seem to solve it myself.
I bought me Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 SM-T800 1 1/2 years ago and was extremely happy with it. Everything worked like a dream. I rooted it after a few weeks because I wanted to get a network going. No problems at all. A few days ago I turned it on and I didn't have any Wifi and Bluetooth was also not turned on. I don't use Bluetooth but it was on at default. I tried working with my router, modem, you name it, it wasn't my connection, so then I tried the tablet itself. Some people said it was SideSync, so I removed that, didn't do anything. I was still using android 4.4.2 so I installed 5.0.2 unrooted and that didn't do anything. After that I wiped everything and went to factory default, no difference. In the end, I looked everywhere, even removed the back panel to see if a connection was loose but everything looks fine. I did another clean install from a firmware installed from the Samsung website to make sure and still, same problem.
I rooted the device, so my warranty is gone.
I don't know what to do now. I use the tablet a lot but mostly online but can't anymore.
I would be very grateful if someone could help. This tablet means a lot to me. My little Sammy :crying:

Edit: Have tried starting in safe mode and nothing changes.
It did work one morning for like half an hour for some reason. Very strange. Then it stopped working again. It does now sometimes show some networks in the area and bluetooth does work sometimes but it wifi and bluetooth disconnects immediately if you connect.
I was in the same situation as you. I ended up sending my device into Samsung for warranty repair. I sent out it last week, and I received it back Tuesday afternoon. Crazy thing was, when they sent it back, there was no paperwork in the box. *Yikes*

Here is what happened with my device.
I contacted the shop and they wanted to send it to a verified repair shop and that I might need to pay money because I rooted my device. In the European constitution it says that if it is not caused by rooting, they can't void the warranty, so I mentioned that and they said it was true but the repair shop was the one who should make sure what the problem is, not them. But I found it a bit fishy so I searched on Twitter for a Samsung account and contacted a very nice woman on there. I asked here about my problem, said what the shop was going to do, she asked what the repair shop's name was and verified it was a good one. She even helped with some tests to see if some things wouldn't solve the problem. Asked her about the warranty and she told me about the European constitution law and that if it wasn't caused by a software problem, it shouldn't cost me anything.
The shop I was talking with saw me talking with them and I think they freaked out a bit. They sent me and the woman from Samsung a message what I wanted to do and I wanted to send it in for repair. I did this and a week later I got it back at no cost and the motherboard was busted. I did get paperwork with my package. Even got my original box back with it and my original cord. Even got a new USB cord for the trouble.
My Sammy is working like a charm again and I love it to bits! Samsung has greet service on Twitter and the repair service is also great!:good:

Oops.... I forgot to mention it... but yes my device was repaired. It had root going to the shop and they didn't say anything about it being rooted. I am just not exactly sure of what they fixed so I think I am going to call in tonight and see what they did to resolve the issue.
So far, so good with it.
Here's what I hate though.... there's 1000s of folks all experiencing this very same problem as what we were experiencing. My warranty is up in just a few days because i didn't purchase an extended warranty from the place I purchased it from (BestBuy). I don't even know how long the warranty is on whatever repairs that they did. *Yikes*
BUT, I am glad you were able to get your issue resolved as well. That's awesome!
I think it's a design flaw in the first few models. Most devices these days have problems at the beginning when they come out. Dare I mention the XBOX360 that was a problem for it's entire run. I had the luck of only having to repair one but I have known people who had to send in multiple or buy multiple new ones. I probably sound like a grandpa at 28 years old but they don't make things like they used to. They test things in the field on paying customers and that is horrible. Same even counts for pharmaceutical products, it's horrible. But people buy and if demand keeps asking, they keep pumping stuff out. It's not about making a product to be proud about, it's about money, and making money as fast as possible. It's understandable to a degree, but the extremes most companies go to is just ridiculous and the people they hurt with it is even worse. But the market is also way to competitive to not do those things. They would go bankrupt in a year or less if they would do it in a fair and honest way. The world isn't fair and honest. It's a bitter view on the world and the market but these wonderful devices get made in horrible conditions by people that get payed horrible wages commanded by people that get payed incredible wages. In the end, there have to be people that are on the losing side and that are often customers and laborers. And normal people can't win from a big company, whatever they do.
Sorry for the rant. I feel very strongly about injustice in jobs and the unfairness in the world. I really wish we could go back to a time where people are proud of the things they make and sell and everyone would profit from it in some way.
What I have noticed ever since my tablet returned is that my battery is lasting much longer. Maybe it's the new motherboard or they put in a new battery pack. Have you noticed this as well after the repair?
