Wipe cache and dalvik cache and you should be good to go. Make a titanium backup first of your apps and a nandroid. So if you encounter any problems you can either revert back to beta 2 or do a clean flash.

I did a superwipe+ext4...but that's just me. But anyways back to my point. B3 is a huge step up from B2 IMO. So smooth! Its been my DD since it came out. Check it out!

Wow! Really?

Is this just the radio? Or a whole ROM?
How/where did you get it? The version number does show that it's newer than any of the radios in the other thread?
And a changelog would be ideal but we never get those with radios
This is whole rom with radio, os, nboot and all other android stuff in it.
Is this just the gingerbread release from Tmobile or is it an updated version?

Can someone throw it on the kitchen quick and root it?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Yeah. Do not use this. This will replace radio, bootloader, recovery along with the rom with no root. Wait till someone extracts rom and adds root.

[Noob alert] Changing roms without losing installed apps.

As the title states, is it possible to flash a different Rom without having to reinstall apps?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Titanium backup is still the simplest and proven way to restoring previously backedup apps. And data is retained intact also.
You can also try backup/restore tool in rom cleaner thread by Patric.

I have done it with a few roms, just wiping the caches only. Make a backup first and try it.

[Q] cache cleaners or system cleaners

What cache cleaner are any of you using or suggest using? If any at all that is.
Thanks
Well if mine gets buggy I just fix permissions n wipe cache n dalvik via recovery
I use App Cache Cleaner. Pretty decent but also do what the above person does also.

Thanks guys. Not rooted yet and not sure if I will. Not till its bug free.
How are you fixing permissions?

When you root and unlock you can have either Clockwork Recovery or TWRP and you do it through those.

I figured it was root related. One day I might root bit not right now. My last phone was all custom, it's nice to have a break from it. Plus I don't like this data issue with the current root. Maybe I'm miss understanding it, but for now I'm fine.
Data issue?

Do I need to erase everything for an upgrade from 4.1.2 to 4.2.1?

Just wondering if i need to do a full wipe when installing a 4.2 rom coming from 4.1 rom. I ask this because im using slimbean and I've been waiting for the 4.2 forever. If im going to need a full wipe I might as well use aokp now so just wondering!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
It would be a good idea; a lot has changed between 4.1 and 4.2.
Yes. Anytime you change significant version numbers you should always wipe.

Damn okay thanks, i guess i might as well switch to cm or aokp and not wait

[Q] Wipe cache when flashing kernel... why?

I see that the device encounter problems like bootloops if I don't wipe cache.
Why wiping cache is required when flashing a kernel on HOX? What's unique about this device (or the method using fastboot)? Maybe a state encoded in bootloader?
This step is not required on other devices such as Xperia P or Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

Wiping cache get rid of "previous" stuff stored on phone. It may cause issues, especially if you going from stock ROM to custom and vice versa...

I know that... ROM yes, but Kernel?
The other day I was talking to a kernel guy at note 10.1 forums, he implied that there is no need to clear cache partition when flashing Kernels. And I told him it is needed for HOX.
Now I wanted to know what's the difference? We don't wipe cache for Kernels on GT-N8000.
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk HD
You can flash kernels without wiping cache. Most of the time it works. But sometimes it encounters some problems.

For me causes boot loops.
EDIT: Why would it cause bootloops?
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk HD
Because different kernels have different things stored so i am most sure u will have issues if u UV or OC had issues myself

I was just surprised about it, because a kernel guy told me that. He had a kernel with UV and OC interface. Why would he say such thing?
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk HD
The app data in the cache is specific to the previous kernel. It's not always necessary to wipe it, especially if it's just an updated kernel, but good practice to do it anyway to prevent possible bootloops/app force closes.
