As the title states, is it possible to flash a different Rom without having to reinstall apps?

Titanium backup is still the simplest and proven way to restoring previously backedup apps. And data is retained intact also.
You can also try backup/restore tool in rom cleaner thread by Patric.

I have done it with a few roms, just wiping the caches only. Make a backup first and try it.

Did something happend under the hood? Or its not such a big problem?

Anyone?

Why not just reflash the correct recovery to avoid any potential issues instead of leaving it on and waiting for something to go wrong.

Wipe cache and dalvik cache and you should be good to go. Make a titanium backup first of your apps and a nandroid. So if you encounter any problems you can either revert back to beta 2 or do a clean flash.

I did a superwipe+ext4...but that's just me. But anyways back to my point. B3 is a huge step up from B2 IMO. So smooth! Its been my DD since it came out. Check it out!

Has anyone tried to use the app to flash kernels? Don't think the device is listed but wanted to know if it would work. Thanks
You could be our beta tester lol. As long as all it does is flash the boot IMG it shouldn't mess anything up.

I would not risk it
u mess the kernel ur phone is ****ed
Sent from my One V using xda premium
Shouldn't be too bad. All you have to do is reboot into fast boot and flash a kernel to fix. But use caution always, no matter what you do to your phone.

Tried this but the app says it's not made for the one v and doesn't let you do anything, so no go sorry

Evening all
When you flash a new kernel do you lose all your data ie do you go back to factory reset.
Thanks
Andy

Sure remember to repack boot if needed and flash the modules!!
Sent from my One X using xda premium
I saw XM kernel is good. You can flash it as no need repack, just with sense rom
Mr hofs linked me to the modules and not to try

We always try to help got my last PM too ?
I see that the device encounter problems like bootloops if I don't wipe cache.
Why wiping cache is required when flashing a kernel on HOX? What's unique about this device (or the method using fastboot)? Maybe a state encoded in bootloader?
This step is not required on other devices such as Xperia P or Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

Wiping cache get rid of "previous" stuff stored on phone. It may cause issues, especially if you going from stock ROM to custom and vice versa...

I know that... ROM yes, but Kernel?
The other day I was talking to a kernel guy at note 10.1 forums, he implied that there is no need to clear cache partition when flashing Kernels. And I told him it is needed for HOX.
Now I wanted to know what's the difference? We don't wipe cache for Kernels on GT-N8000.

You can flash kernels without wiping cache. Most of the time it works. But sometimes it encounters some problems.

For me causes boot loops.
EDIT: Why would it cause bootloops?
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk HD
Because different kernels have different things stored so i am most sure u will have issues if u UV or OC had issues myself

I was just surprised about it, because a kernel guy told me that. He had a kernel with UV and OC interface. Why would he say such thing?
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk HD
The app data in the cache is specific to the previous kernel. It's not always necessary to wipe it, especially if it's just an updated kernel, but good practice to do it anyway to prevent possible bootloops/app force closes.
