[Q] [VZW] Galaxy Nexus or wait? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I recently dropped my HTC thunderbolt and found my self in my old iPhone 4 for the time being. My question is, should I upgrade and get the nexus or should I buy an android tablet for the time being? I realize why I left the iPhone and I'm having a really hard time going back to using it for utility.
I own my own computer business so that's why I'm debating tablet or handset.
Thanks for your comments and feedback!

Personally I'd wait. The iPhone 4 is a good phone and the gnex is gonna be trumped soon enough by a quad core beast

I don't really have a problem with my iPhone 4. But I had a lot of utility apps on my android I used for remote access and file management. Not to mention tools for measuring wifi signal and various others. I'm happy with the battery life on my old iPhone lol but I'd give it up for 4g too.

If it were any other provider beside Verizon...I'd be inclined to say wait...maybe.
I just absolutely love my GNex.
And...the unlocked bootloader.
And who know when the next Unlockable phone will drop on Verizon.
And Quad Core?
At least not yet.
No love for us in that department; as LTE doesn't play nicely. And Verizon won't allow any more phones that don't have LTE on their network.

Are you buying the phone off contract ? Cause if you are you can try Craigslist you will probably get a good deal

Id go with the gnex, I had a tbolt before as well and is definitely worth it

[Q]Should I buy a GN now!

Hi guys!
I want to buy a new phone now. Currently I have a nexus s.And is the best phone that I had ever. I like the support that it have and to many choices that I have with Roms.
What is better now to buy a Galaxy Nexus or should I wait for Htc One X or Galaxy SIII?
Question really is. Do you like stock android, sense or touchwiz? And I think you already answered your question.
Well if u do end up getting a GN deal alert got the GN for 529.99 on both colors for 24 hour sale ....check it out maybe that will help ur decision

I'm along with what the other user said ... if you like HTC Sense get the HTC One Series.. if you like Touchwiz stay with the Galaxy S line
Don't get a GS3 or HTC One and ask for AOSP ICS roms

that's too easy, Galaxy Nexus of course!

This, other than screen choices Hardware wasn't a big deal breaker for me. I want the AOSP feel. I came for a Samsung Infuse 4g. I was tired of waiting around for development. When I was shopping for a new phone I checked out phones the the AT&T GSII, Skyrocket, ect. Sure they had some development, but not too much. So instead of getting another phone where I'd be at the mercy of Samsung and AT&T to get Rom updates. So I made the best decision ever for a phone. I bought me a Galaxy Nexus. Now I don't think I will ever not own a Nexus series phone.
Since you stated you already have a Nexus S, I bet it will be hard for you to got to anything else that will be locked down and skinned. You will probably have withdraws pretty quickly.
In short, unless you are all about the latest and greatest hardware then get a GN, or wait a year for the next Nexus phone.
Yeah I remember when I had a Nexus One and left it for a HTC Sense Device. I mean the Hero and Evo had a lot of development but its nothing like having international users which means more development than just people who have ATT or sprint etc.

You can't compare the device available now to future technology. LOL.
Future phones are always better, at least in terms of specs, so there's no end to the wait. Also, you could never have THE best phone.
PS. If you love the Nexus family then you will love GNex.
I don't mean to intrude on this topic but I am also wondering the same thing, except I'm coming from a Samsung vibrant and I can't seem to choose whether I want to get the Verizon nexus or buy a GSM nexus. Switching carriers isn't a big deal to me. Both seem to have their ups and downs. Some input would really help me decide. Thanks and sorry for hijacking your topic lol I just figured it'd be better than starting a new topic.

It really depends on you and your lifestyle. Like do you travel abroad a lot or do do you hate Verizon (lol)?
If you are in the country most of the time then I don't see why you would go through the trouble of getting an unlocked GSM GNex. They are essentially the same when it comes to end user experience.

What device you get really depends on what you want. With the Galaxy Nexus the hardware might not be as good as other devices, it is miles ahead as far a software goes considering the open nature and dev support. If you don't plan on taking advantage of that and are more concerned with hardware, then get something else. I was tempted by the hardware and went to the G2x and then the GS2, I came back to the Nexus line. I missed the customization I had with my G1 and Nexus One.
While the Galaxy Nexus may be a little behind as far a hardware, but is by no means poor. But with the open software and available drivers, the software is way ahead of other phones.
well lets see the reason I'm debating about the two is this:
Verizon Nexus:
Pros: Service overall in Los Angeles is better. True LTE speeds. And 32gb built in versus the 16gb GSM version. Can get it for $100 on amazon.
Cons: stuck with Verizon and no chance of getting service outside of the US. Monthly bill would be $50 more expensive. And the whole android support issue about source?
GSM NEXUS:
Pros: can use on my $45 T-Mobile plan with 2gbs of data or switch to any GSM carrier I want. Development seems to not be stunted. Never had a problem with service.
CONS: $500 and no local hardware support in case of a problem. 16gb versus the 32gb version.
Lol I can't choose.

So if it costs $50 a month more on Verizon, with a minimum of 24 months is $1200, or $400 more once for the GSM. Not too tough a decision, though the 32GB would be nice.

I would say go with verizon, cause if anything does happen to the phone you'll be covered. The service is great waaaaay better than T-mobile, yea the bill will be a lil higher but you get what you pay for, dependable service. The thing about the support issue is irrelevant, the Nexus(GSM or CDMA) will still be waaaay ahead of any other phone and will continue to get updates rather is be OTA or here at XDA(the dev support on here don't seem like it will die down anytime soon, so you have nothing to worry about with this phone)
If I could go back 3-4 months (or whatever it was) I wouldn't buy a Gnex today. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of fixes from google. We've been officially on 4.0.2 for almost the whole time, while they seem to cater to carrier phones more (verizon gnex).
I see no point in getting a nexus if google puts their phone 2nd to carrier demands. verizon gnex gets fixes and more attention. At this point there are newer and better phones coming out, and the appeal of getting ICS first is over, especially when google doesn't release updates.
It's not like the GS3 won't see CM and a plethora of AOSP roms. How many non aosp roms do we have?
I'd wait for the gs3 at this stage of the game. They are talking about a simultaneous world wide release.
Verizon is about the same as sprint price wise. Assuming you aren't stupid enough to pay $20 for testing when you already pay for data. Use Google voice for texting and grove IP to stretch out your minutes. Add a corporate discount and it might be cheaper.
TMobile is a true value carrier but their service can get pretty ****ty.
It don't matter what phone you get.. You only going to be king of your neighborhood/office for only a couple of months.. Then the next big thing is coming.. Hell people already talking about a Galaxy Nexus 2. Thats the thing that sucks about android.. its never one good phone..
You can: Get a VZW Nexus on contract for 2 years and be stuck.. and then have to pay full retail for the next big thing. (Which already seem like the HTC One and GS3) BUT! No one knows if VZW is going to get the Galaxy Nexus 2. or any HTC One device or even a GS3.. And even when the GS3 come out you wont be able to get it on a carrier to probly 3 months after international release
Or you can: Get the GSM Nexus and always sell it in the next few weeks or month (Since the Galaxy Nexus resell value is about $450-$600 on ebay for a used one)
Plus you can get a Pre-paid carrier like Tmo as the other user said n have ****ty service... or just use ATT or rogers w/e you use and save yourself the upgrade fees and signing a new contract

correct buy gnexus already came out with a very outdated gpu. it's gonna feel like a dinosaur in a few months when the new generation of powervr come out.
I think OP should wait for a quad core phone with an updated gpu. it'll way more feature-proof than galaxy nexus.
The Galaxy Nexus will always be a great device to they release the next Nexus..because HTC sense will always suck.. (I don't believe those demos they showed ) and Touchwiz will always be late on updates from Samsung or lack support

Galaxy Nexus worth upgrading to?

I have Sprint and I'm due for an upgrade in about 2 weeks, so I was hoping the lovely people of XDA could tell me if the Galaxy Nexus is worth using the upgrade discount, or if I should go for another phone/carrier.
Right now I have the Nexus S 4G, which is great, I'm just curious if there are any known issues with the Sprint Galaxy Nexus, or any bugs, etc.
Thanks in advanced
i think galaxy nexus is very much better than nexus s, definitely it's worth to upgrade.
There are many people who have issues with the screens being grainy and ghosting. You will give up 4g for quite a while as well. I've read quite a bit about the phone's data connection dropping although I've never encountered it.
I would honestly hang on to the upgrade/end of contract until we find out whats going to be happening with the next Nexus phone.
My opinion is to drop Sprint and roll your own plan. I know it can be different for everyone, but for my area Sprint was horrible and costly. I mean the cheapest post paid, but man prepaid is so much better.
With Sprint in the area I live and work Sprint use to be great. But more recently it's the worst. Mog skips like crazy. miss calls. The speeds were horrible. At work I asked to speed test my co workers phones. One Verizon and one att. They destroyed my speed. I was, at best, getting 300k they were between 1000 to 3000k. And they were not on lte. Just 3g, and they have older phones. I had the sgs2 at the time. Well anyways I dropped Sprint and went with prepaid plans. Now I have service in more area and its FAST. And half the price. I know,I know you have unlimited data. But how often do you go over 2gb a month ? Check out you history on the Sprint page. It will tell you how much data you used for the last 6 months. I was surprise d how little data I use. But I am in Wi-Fi when at work and home so I guess the only time I use the network is while commuting.
Once again this was best for me. Maybe not for you. But after the trouble I had with Sprint, then having to fork over a ton of money to get away, I must say I am now saving 800 a year, and free.
Sprint has no responsibility to provide you cell phone service. In the contract you sign it never states that they have to give you anything, but you will have to pay every month for 2 years. Crazy.
Sorry for the rant.
Buy the gsm gnex. It's not much more then the newest phones after the discount. Or stay on Sprint, wait until November and see what the next nexus will be. then buy that one.

Galaxy nexus is a great upgrade from NS4G! And if you love Vanilla Android its truly the only way to go. Jelly bean is an amazing reason to get one and you're looking at months and months til any other phones aside from Gnex that are running official jellybean updates. Just my opinion. I have had every Nexus phone to date. I really don't care for skinned Android phones. Its not about the hardware for me. Its more about the development support and development lifespan of the device. And the Nexus line usually gets the most dev love.
I don't feel another Nexus phone may launch as usual this winter...as with history the Nexus usually drops with the newest version of Android. Nexus 7 and Q came out with Jellybean so unless Key Lime Pie is due out this year Google may keep it in the bag until then.

Get rid of sprint and get a real gnex.
Hey you stole my sig!
Yes and no...
The GNex is an awesome device, so it's definitely worth the upgrade. I would pick the GSM GNex tho. In fact I would choose the GSM GNex over any other Android phone that is currently available, including the SGS3. So if you can't wait, the GNex is the only way to go, imo.
But if I had the Nexus S already, I would probably consider waiting for the next Nexus. I don't know about the 4G version but it seems the regular Nexus S will get JB sometime soonish. It's still a nice device.
Ive been mulling this over too.
Currently on the S2. Thinking of changing to the Gnex. Can get a Gnex in the UK for roughly £250, the S2 could sell between £200/250.
Its tempting just for JB

Is the Galaxy Nexus still a smart buy?

I currently sport a HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon and I'm seriously considering moving to an unlocked GSM phone + prepaid wireless. My question is do you think that the Galaxy Nexus is still a smart buy? Considering it's hardware, Google's hardware release cycle, etc. It would be one hell of an upgrade from the Thunderbolt... But I'm just curious what the general consensus is concerning whether or not it is wise to purchase it now (considering the possibility of a new Nexus phone in the future).
At this point of time, yes. But if you are able to wait for a few months, then just wait for the next Nexus.
Only you can decide if it's worth the money to you. We're pretty sure that there will be another Nexus at the end of the year, but it surely won't be $350. If you need to save the $$ and want the Nexus, pick one up.
I would just think about how urgently you need a device. If your current one is broken in some way, go ahead and get the gnex. But, as someone else said, if you can afford to wait a few months then I would get the next one.
it is a smart buy but i really hate the signal issues this phone has. i don't get 4G signal at all in my house and everywhere else in my town i get at least 3 or full bars of 4G

He is speaking about the gsm nexus which doesn't come with 4g also I would think it would have less issues than a carrier version.

You can force 4g.
I bought this phone a week ago and I am in the 7th heaven.
1. Despite not having the best hardware at the moment, it works perfect with everything Android currently has to offer. There's really no software that requires a quad core CPU at the moment, at least not that I know of.
2. Currently it's the best device by far for it's price / performance (software) combo.
Besides that, I am done buying devices near their release dates, as it ends up being an epic waste of money. Once the next Nexus comes out, in 6 months it will cost half as much as it does near the release date. Then would be the perfect time to dump the GNex and get the next Nexus.
$350---Yes
Yea,!! Another one of these pointless threads!!!!!!

These phones are crazy cheap outright.
I gave my girlfriend my GS3 and went back to my GNexus and couldn't be happier.
This phone will be updated by Google for a long while, considering the Nexus S still gets Jelly Bean etc. Defo a worthwhile purchase

I think its still a good buy. The new Nexus phone will probably be $700+ after taxes and the $386 I just spent for this phone is obviously a lot cheaper. Even better I'm on the $30 TMobile plan.

[Q] No nexus 4, now what?

Hey guys, mainly asking for your opinions so just let them fly.
I currently have a Thunderbolt and my contract is up at the end of November now I am trying to decide what to do next. I was fully anticipating going with the nexus 4 (I was prepared to never buy a non nexus device as long as Google keeps making them). Now that the nexus 4 will not be on Verizon and switching to at&t isn't an option since I get 25% off my bill through work, what would you guys do if you were in my situation? The Gnex is going to be cheap as hell when am eligible for an upgrade and am still considering it, should I be? Do you think Gnex development will slow down dramatically any time soon? I'd also hate to buy a phone with outdated hardware...do you guys run into hardware limitations withe the Gnex?
The only other phone that intrigues me is the galaxy s3. Mainly because it is so popular that I see there being a huge development opportunity there? I looked through the thread for the GS3 and it looks like there plenty of aosp roms and it looks to me like there will be quick updates for it as well. The biggest things I hate about the GS3 are the hardware buttons, I love the customisable soft keys in aosp and think that hard keys are so pointless anymore.
I'm pretty much against moto but if you really think I should look at something they have to offer, let me know.
Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated, thanks in advance.

My advice? Wait and watch. See how the N4 actually pans out as a device itself. It could be a hardware flop for all we know at this point. There were certainly fun hardware issues with the Gnex.
Then wait a bit longer for the HTC DNA. It might turn out to be a barnburner, or something to burn the barn with.
Then make a decision.
I'm not sure if the Moto RAZR i or HD is a good option or not for you.
Its up on you dude. go out & explore something new and one more thing that the GS3 is a pretty good option.

I would wait if I where u. If u really need a new phone I would say the galaxy as 3 is a good choice. I have the gnex with Verizon and I love it. I dont have no issues at all my signal is always good i dont drop any calls or never go into 3g lol. (Must be my area i live in) Only problem I see u having is the storage capacity. The gnex on Verizon is now offered with only 16GB. No more 32GB. But as stated before, wait it out a few more months and see what's around the corner. If anything get a used nexus from craigslist for like 250 bucks to hold u over. That way up don't waist your upgrade on a phone u might regret

The answer for most people? Coverage.
Coverage, Coverage, Coverage.
If you have a Thunderbolt, that means you still have unlimited data right? So if you're planning on buying a Nexus anyway, you might as well just find an unlocked one (i've seen used ones for ~$150-250) so that you won't have to upgrade. If I remember correctly (and I might be wrong), but Verizon only takes away the unlimited data when you try to upgrade.
No offense, but then he'd be stuck with T-Mobile's network and current lack of LTE. I root for T-Mobile; however, I was miserable when I was using them in suburban Denver, due to relatively inconsistent/slow data.

You can use AT&T's towers via Straight Talk if T-Mobile isn't great for your area. AT&T's HSPA+ network is pretty expansive.
Also, he wouldn't be "stuck" with anything - he could take the SIM card out and flush it down the toilet if the service bothers him. That's the beauty of not having a contract
I had the gnex on Verizon and loved it, except for one crucial issue-battery life. Sure, this was remedied somewhat by getting spare batteries, but this got to be a pain in the ass.
I currently have the Verizon SIII and love it (I find the dev community to be more than adequate). Yet I agree that it is worth waiting for the inevitable next greatest thing. The DNA does look to be badass

Yeah the main reason why I stay with Verizon is coverage and my discount. At&t is the only other viable option, all the others are spotty at best around where I live.
Yeah I never thought of trying to get a gnex off contract. That would probly be the best option seeing that I'm getting married in June and will most likely have to revamp my plan for me and the wife anyway.
My friend just got the s3, he doesn't root or anything like I do but I can still bug him about the battery life at least.

I'm not real big on the next best thing, the S3 would be in that category for me. Do you stick with touchwiz ROMs or aosp (or aokp)?
I have a sour taste in my mouth for HTC and I'm sick of waiting. I thought I waited for the next best thing with the Tbolt when I was coming from the OG droid. Samsung at least gets it right with their flagship devices. They don't come out with almost an identical phone but with more bugs worked out 3 months later.
I'll wait till Christmas and see what all comes but that's as long as I'll wait.

Straight talk offers an AT&T SIM that gives you unlimited* everything for $45/mo. I think it's actually their most popular plan.
*2-5gb of data before they start to nag, depending on how the stars align for you. Since, you know, unlimited is never actually unlimited in the US anymore...
If you are only with verizon because of the discount, try calling up another phone company and see if they can match the offer or sweeten the pot for you. My brother gets a corporate discount with Bell (here in Canada) and so he called up Rogers (who he's with), and told them that he can get such and such plan for such and such price and asked if he can match it otherwise he'd switch. I forget the specifics of what he got but he was able to get a discount because of it.
Otherwise, just wait like many others said. Perhaps you can get a sweeter phone than the nexus.

don't be annoying like that
To OP: I'm in a similar situation actually, except that I use a GNex right now instead of a TurdBolt. Nobody knows if a Nexus 4 will come to VZN, but I'd probably just buy a GNex until something better rolls around later. And if you do have unlimited data, DO NOT UPGRADE! I cannot fathom losing my unlimited data at this point of my spoiled-data-consumption life. And the development for the VZN GNex is pretty healthy actually. Nothing to complain about, especially when you know you have a reliable connection at the end of the day.
I'm in agreement there, I dumped my tbolt for a gnex and it was a huge step up. You can grab one for fairly cheap off contract now too. I have little to complain about besides battery being a moderate problem. It still beats the tbolt for battery life by quite a bit though, and has given me better data reception. My main urge to upgrade is called 'upgraditis'. For now I'll be trying to treat the symptoms.

VZW Owners- Where to Next?

It's almost that time for those of us who got the VZW variant on release day. My upgrade is listed as May 15th which i'm sure is the same for many of us.
I have been going back and forth between the S4 and the X Phone even though we have very little on either at this point. I was grandfathered into unlimited data with my Galaxy Nexus and desperately want to keep it so the X Phone would be the clear winner since it's rumored to launch on the Play Store with a low price like the Nexus 4 was. On the other hand the Galaxy S series has always out shined the Nexus line in terms of pure specs. I really want to make the jump to the 5 inch form factor especially with a 1080p screen. I'm thinking that if the S4 lives up to the spec rumors and has a good development scene like the S3 does I'll be buying it outright and thus keeping my unlimited data with it.
What does everyone think about my choices and what are you looking into for your upgrade?
When march 15th comes, leave verizon, buy a new nexus, profit.

I got my gnex some months late, so I've got until September.. Since that's forever in phone time, its too soon to tell for me.

Fixed that for my area.
Ya dropping Verizon isn't an option for me either due to my family plan and reception.

I'm not married to a carrier so unless Verizon gets another Nexus phone between now and next April when my contract is up, I'll be leaving Verizon. I have an N4 on Tmobile which works fine for me, so I'll be happy to ditch Verizon, better coverage be damned. My only complaint about T-Mobile is the maximum 50 MB of data roaming per billing cycle. That's tough because I have a lot of family out in eastern KY that I visit regularly, and T-Mobile doesn't, and probably never will, have service out there. I could burn through 50 MB checking Twitter and Google+. Thank God for wifi.
Now, should Verizon get the next Nexus in October or November, whenever it comes out...I might seriously consider it because I don't mind paying the money for the better coverage. But it has to be a Nexus. I'm not interested in any Android phone that doesn't run vanilla stock Android or get quick updates. Let's be honest, Verizon's approval process may delay updates, but the VZW Gnex still gets updates faster than any other phone Verizon has ever offered. That's the beauty of having no middleman. Updates come right from Google after VZW approval. Win.
Already Switched
Couldn't wait the contract out when I realized I'd been using custom ROMs on my Nexus since March as Verizon will never update in a timely manner.
Went with Galaxy Note 2 the day it became available on Verizon. Not a single regret - fast, huge screen, battery lasts forever, LTE but also works on GSM when I need it to. Just get the best that's available in your timeframe, there's always something better round the corner.
Agreed. When I got my Galaxy Nexus I told myself I wouldn't get anything other than a nexus. I'm also a crack flasher and always looking for new things to load up on the phone. But after seeing how great the dev scene was for the S3 I started looking at the S4.
The bootloader is unlocked on the s3 I'd assume right? Was that through Samsung or did the community get it unlocked?

Every variant of the S3, except Verizon's version, comes factory unlocked. You can use odin to flash whatever you want.
Didn't know that. Hmm I guess I'll have to wait till after the announcement to get some info on the bootloader on the VZW variant. But according to the leaks there's is one version of the device that supports all radios so I'd assume that it will be unlocked.

Actually, I guess the bootloader isn't truly "unlocked" in a Nexus sense where you can use fastboot to flash whatever you want. What "unlocked" means on the Galaxy S III is that it doesn't have a NAND lock. On most phones, the bootloaders have a hard NAND lock that checks for a signed recovery and kernel image every time the phone boots up. If it detects unsigned stuff (like ClockworkMod recovery or a custom kernel), the bootloader will go into an error state and won't boot.
The Galaxy S III has no such check, so you can use Odin (a Samsung proprietary tool) to flash whatever you want and the bootloader will allow it to boot. It just has no NAND lock. If you have an HTC or Motorola phone and you use one of their "bootloader unlock tools" to "unlock" your bootloader, all you're doing is shutting off the NAND lock. The Galaxy S III comes that way from the factory, except for Verizon's version.
So yeah...not truly unlocked in the Nexus sense, but still a hell of a lot easier than 99% of phones out there. The only device I can think of that had a NAND lock from the factory but could be unlocked Nexus style (NAND lock disabled and allowed to flash whatever you wanted openly via fastboot) was the Motorola Xoom. Of course, the Xoom was functionally a Nexus in everything but its name.
I'm gonna wait out the end of my contract. I'd switched to VZW from a Nexus S on T-Mo because at the time, VZW had the new Nexus and my work started offering a monthly plan discount. I've had great reception and speeds with VZW. But having been with android since the first day the Nexus One became available, I've been disappointed with the updates to the Verizon GNex.
Shortly after my contract with Verizon is up, I'm getting the latest (but not the Nexus 4) unlocked Nexus from the play store and switching to a cheaper GSM month-to-month plan.
For me the two main points that will make me change back to GSM is the cheap-ish pay as you go plans and the update cycle of a Google controlled Nexus.
Whenever the GSM Nexus 5 (or whatever it will be called) is available unlocked on the Play store is when I'll make my move.
I've been seriously thinking about waiting for the S4, but I'm also tempted by the DNA, especially if the price drops. But the big thing now for me is price since the new policy on unlimited data kicked in. Never was a big consideration for me before, but I would go broke from the overages if I took the subsidy

Waiting to see what the X phone is all about. And more importantly where the updates will come from. Otherwise I'm waiting until my contact expires in 2014 and leaving Big Red.

Another launch day buyer here. Part of a family plan, really like the service/price and unlimited data. I'd love to buy a cheap ass nexus 4 on gsm off contract but given my situation it's really not an option(Verizon has the best service across Colorado and I travel a fair amount).
I was pissed with big red getting so far behind on updates, I almost gave in and got the DNA but I knew it would be a bad move. I finally installed cm10.1 about a month ago and it feels like I have a new phone.
That being said, I can wait a little longer and will definitely consider the s4. I loved the original idea behind the x phone but the latest rumors have it being a failure or just a regular phone. I really like the gnex size and do not want to go beyond a five inch screen. I'm a tall guy with big hands but do not like note 2 size.
Will just wait till IO and see what comes about.

Exactly. VZW's entire phone lineup is absolutely worthless to anyone who wants stock, vanilla Android and quick updates. It's the Galaxy Nexus or nothing right now. The GNex may not get updates as fast as the GSM models, but it still gets updates faster than any other VZW phone.

I've got close to a year of waiting, and highly doubt I could give up VZW. Updates being timely or not. Maybe there'll be a Note 3 by then.

I hate losing a pure android experience. So due to the fact that Verizon has failed to offer a pure android phone as of late....looks like I'm keeping this.

I'm thankful that I live in an area where VZW isn't my only option. My Nexus 4 is on T-Mobile and they have good service here in central NC. The problem with T-Mobile is that the overwhelming majority of their network is 2G/EDGE. Literally, once you get 15 or 20 minutes outside a major metro area, you're on 2G. Plus, their hard capping of data roaming to 50MB per billing cycle (even on the unlimited plan) is rough. But... you can't argue with the price and (in my experience) the customer service.

It's really a dilemma. Just switched over to vzn, got a family plan with wife and both are happy with reception where we need it. And the main reason to move was the galaxy nexus and lte. Now I feel stuck. My only hope is the xphone or whatever it'll be called. Hope it's out this summer.
