Yes you will.
As long as your phone is 100% back to stock ( I mean stock recovery, re-locked bootloader and stock ROM of course).
I did that with the 1st One X I sold and I got the OTA update from Hong Kong and I live in Australia.

Yes you can and you dont have to lock the bootloader just have stock rom to see the update and stock recovery to install it. I know because i always keep a nandroid of stock rom for when ota comes out, just restoring that lets me see the ota and download it however like i said it wont unstall unless youre on stock recovery.. Oh and i tried relocking the bootloader and couldnt boot afterwards so i installed it fine with an unlocked one

[Q] Would rooting with Odin prevent OTA updates?

Hey, I was wondering if only rooting my phone ( I still have the stock rom ) would prevent my phone from receiving OTA updates? My wife and I bought our phones at the same time, mine was even activated first, and her OTA update, which includes the wifi calling, came tonight, and I haven't seen mine.
So I was just curious if it is still going to come eventually, or if I need to just flash the updated version of the stock rom? Thanks
You will get the update regardless of what rom or recovery or rooted or unrooted.
Now in order to install it ota you need stock rom and stock recovery though. If you rooted and installed cwm recovery then you need to flash stock recovery.
If your rooted. On stock rom. And stock recovery(like I was) then no worries just install away.

[Q] Returning Stock Questions

Before Flashing a Custom RoM, I did a backup of the stock RoM in recovery. Am going to need to return stock so O2 can release JB OTA update and allow me to update Hboot.
My question is if I was just to flash back the stock RoM in recovery am I right I dont need to relock the bootloader? I just use the Stock RoM with phone unlocked and custom Recovery just to allow me the OTA?
Thanks
You will receive the OTA, but to apply it you need stock recovery.

HELP - Flashed wrong recovery on reverting to stock

I reverted back to stock yesterday to receive Jelly Bean update but it says my phone is up to date.
I flashed recovery, locked the bootloader and used RUU 1.29
I'm TMobile UK CID005
When the phone rebooted update 4.0.4 came though, I downloaded and updated the phone to 2.17
No more updates are coming through however. I'm not sure if I flashed stock recovery or not (If I didn't would have update above come through?). Anyway can I reflash the stock recovery just to be sure? And how would I go about this? Also I have a custom Kernal if that makes any difference? Cheers
if you run the ruu then you're on stock already. maybe there's still no JB update for your CID.

maybe because you're still on stock rom.
Sometimes the updates won't show automatically, if you return to stock in ways like this. its recommended to check manually in the settings menu for updates .... consider this as a small "bug"

[Q] cant flash 4.4.2 rom

I attempted to flash a 4.4.2 rom yesterday but it couldnt and it gave me a status 7 error. I looked it up and people said that you have to update clockworkmod. Well i tried to through terminal but it couldn't. It said something like could not find directory. So if anyone has any idea what I can do pleast tell me.
Using Galaxy s3 sgh-i747 on PA 3.99.1 ROM
Flash Philz Touch from here via Odin (use the tar version in PDA): http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2att
alright i did it through odin and it worked..now im gonna make a backup again and try flashing a rom. hope it works. thanks for the help
If you can't flash a KK ROM, you may need to update your bootloader. If you're not on a 4.3 bootloader, try and avoid it for now.

im on a 4.3 rom but if i get error status 7 again ill just restore my backup and avoid it...is there a 4.3 bootloader? Also i was about to wipe it but its asking me wipe data/factory reset or clean to install a new ROM. I suggest its the 2nd one but if i do it and it doesnt work can i still restore my backup?

There is a 4.3 bootloader that would be installed if you ran an OTA update to 4.3 or you manually installed the 4.3 bootloader.
Did you make your backup using Philz? If not, make the backup using Philz, then wipe and install.

Doesn't really matter but it's good to know that you need to stay away from any attempts to downgrade the bootloader.
hahah why would i want to downgrade?

You can't restore to a completely stock ROM not that you have a 4.3 bootloader. AT&T never released a full 4.3 stock ROM, only an update to 4.3 from an earlier stock ROM.
If you did not have a 4.3 bootloader, you could install any stock AT&T ROM such as 4.1.1. Being able to restore to stock 4.1.1 would also allow you to sim unlock your phone for free, if necessary.

well im on rogers and its the same as att. i still have the original samsung touchwiz 4.1 rom just incase anything happens.
Your original post said you have an sgh-i747 which is an AT&T model. If you have a Rogers s3, it's an sgh-i747m.
Regardless of which model you have, you can't downgrade from any 4.3 bootloader which means you can't completely revert back to 4.1.1. The best you could do would be to run 4.1.1 on a 4.3 bootloader.

sorry i should have included the m lol. i wont worry about going back to 4.1 until the galaxy s5 comes out and im ready to give it to my dad. but back to focusing on this. im about to attempt to flash a 4.4.2 rom. either liquidsmooth or carbon. what do you like?
I prefer Validus version 4.3 because it includes Nova Launcher and it has a dark UI theme.
but thats 4.3. i wanna be on 4.4 and im installing nova and making it the way i had it before.
wait a second is it a 4.4 rom?

It is a 4.4.2-based rom. The release is version 4.3.
hmm interesting...you do recommend it? what great features does it come with?
I like it because it's a very stripped-down ROM, has a dark UI, and is AOSP-based.
It's not radically different from other ROMs but has exactly what I want. I run the same ROM on a Nexus 4 and Motorola Atrix HD.

I think as long as you don't have a custom rom on it should be OK
But not %100 on that
Has anyone posted a flashable zip version of the OTA for the unlocked/dev version?
You need to have a 100% stock system (bar root), including the stock recovery and kernel, to flash an OTA as it requires the stock build to be able to upgrade it. Root files are additional so aren't checked, although you'll probably have to re-root the phone once the OTA is complete

If you're just S-OFF/unlocked but otherwise 100% stock the OTA will be fine. There are no RUUs available yet bar the Sprint Harman Karmon one - hopefully more will arrive eventually
