Medias don't appear in the gallery nor music playerS !! - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
I'm owner of a GSM Galaxy Nexus on AOKP build 35, and I have problems reading my music and other medias, let me explain.
I was on stock ROM 4.0.4, I had over than 100 pics on my gallery, with some videos coming from TubeMate and other app, but after installing AOKP ROM, my files don't appear, it still in the DCIM/CAMERA folder, but don't appear. But new pics that I took with the new rom are there, no problems
I have the same with music app, I want to use n7music player, despite the fact I put mp3 files on music Music folder, it appears only in the case of transferring files by Bluetooth.
Sorry for my poor English, If you don't understand I can make a video on YouTube, just tell me.
Thank you,
PS : look at the number of pics in the camera folder and the gallery app.

[Q] manage music and photo gallery

hi all
i bought a DHD few days ago and flashed the core droid 2.2 rom and loving it! i would like to know if there is a way to manage the music app in such a way that it only displays files from a particular filder and not each and every music file that is there on the phone for e.g. sound files from various applications are also present in my music area which is very annoying and the same goes for the gallery which shows each and every image and video file present on the phone.
i would like to know if i can define a particular folder to the music and gallery app to use.
nevermind i figured it out!! but i really wish that i could tell android to only scan my 'music' folder for the music app or the 'pictures' folder for the gallery app.
Just download a nomedia app from the market, put a .nomedia file in all folders except the ones you have music/pictures/videos in, job done

[Q] Issue with music player

So I use tubeX to download and convert youtube videos to mp3 on my galaxy s 4g for my music needs. However, When I use same app on S2, it won't play those files. Google music player and touchwiz music app plays those files fine in galaxy 4g but not in S2. I don't know why. As a result I am forced to use galaxy 4g when I have a brand new galaxy S2.
Any suggestions how to fix it?
Idk how tp fix this, but wouldnt it be easier if you just downloaded a torrent app from the market, like free mp3 music downloader, instead of making mp3s from YouTube videos?

Well Yes and No. I can speak 4 languages and Its usually easy to find english music online (I have mp3 downloader app for that) But its hard to find music in the other 3 languages. Its easy to just download youtube videos and change the extension to mp3 and in my any other android phone it works fine but not in Galaxy S2. Even though I use same apps and same android version on both phones. Weird!
Try tubemate, i have used that on my S2 and when downloading video select mp3 option.

Help with album art

OK so I'm getting kinda cheesed off with Google play music and the album art displayed. So I got 3 id3 apps, audiotagger 4.0.0, itag 1.50, and pimp my music 1.49. I'm trying to get a decent high resolution album art to stick on my MP3 albums. Iv used all 3 to try to remove any album art that's seems to be stuck to the MP3 files and then used all 3 to set the album art I want either from searching on the internet or select a picture saved to my gallery. I even went as far as deleting some 1156 pictures of the same low res album art which keeps reappearing. So for a while Google play music will show the high res album art and its great but after a while it goes back to low resolution album art which is all pixilated and stuff.
So anyone know how this could be sorted out?

I was able to do it by modifying the cover art from my PC. Opened Play in my web browser and went to My Music. Then picked the album and modified the album info. It let me change to a better pic. So far, the higher-res pics seem to have stuck. Hope they don't spontaneously revert.

OK great album seems to be sticking now, that particular album I got up on Google play music server and on my device.
I just can't get id3 genre tag to change for the on device music. I did already try with Google play music and its showing correct for what's 'in the cloud' but on device copy won't change, its being a little bastard. I tried the same 3 apps as mentioned before. Any ideas? Maybe they don't work so well with jelly bean?

I deleted the copy from my device and just downloaded it from Google play server and all is well. I get ocd about my music lol

[Q] Whatsapp audio being added automatically to Galaxy S3 music player

Is there a way to add specific folders to the music player? On my phone, the player automatically adds voicenotes and audio from whatsapp which is pretty annoying. I would like it to choose only the music folder.
anyone?
Put a blank file in the folder named .nomedia
This will prevent android from scanning the folder for any media (music, pics, videos, etc)

I am really surprised to see that .nomedia had any desired effect in your case. I'm trying to exclude those files in my WhatsApp folders from appearing in my Galaxy s3 music player as well as in the gallery. I can do whatever I want, these files ALWAYS are visible.
When trying QuickPic i am able to exclude mentioned folders and no pictures apper in the QuickPic gallery, but they do prominently appear in the Gallery app. the same goes for audio files. I tried to exclude them from DoubleTwist media player. Actually they never appear there, no matter i have a .nomedia file placed or not.
I have no understanding, which folders are scanned for media. And I cannot say that ALL folders are scanned because that would mean my mp3-ringtones under Ringtones shall appear in my music player media list?
So for me it is hard to believe that the .nomedia trick will do the desired effect (keeping WhatsApp media files out of my galleries and media players).
Actually browsing the web a bit, it seems I am not alone with this experience and I am surprised, that there is no clear description about that ominous .nomedia file. I do not say it has no effect (it does have in QuickPic - but that is about all), but not the effect everyone is talking about.
So I am really curious how you managed to have those files eliminated from your media lists (gallery, music player) by simply putting the .nomedia file in the respective directory
Thanks

The .nomedia file did the trick just fine on the S3 mini. Thank you.
@mtfh: a late answer but, after creating the .nomedia file, try restarting the phone. Also, I guess it depends whether your (music player/photo gallery) app reads for .nomedia files to ignore those directories. In my case, I created with ES File Explorer a .nomedia in the following locations:
WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Audio/
removed the audio files from the stock music player
WhatsApp/Media/WallPaper/
removed the whatsapp custom wallpaper folder in the stock photo gallery
As for:
WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Images/
I actually liked having that folder in the photo gallery to check all whatsapp pictures in one place (without opening whatsapp itself), so I left this folder intact.

I know I am going to seem dumb as dirt, but we just got our first smart phone a few months ago. I am learning a lot with it, but I just cant figure out how to do this. I can figure out how to tap the lower left corner while in my files to create a folder. But for the life of me I cant figure out how to do this. If I click on the music note on my player it brings up a list of all my music and the ringtones, but I cant do anything with them other than shuffle them or delete. I cant find a specific folder with all ringtones in it. I have dl a couple of apps that have ringtones. Can anyone give me a step by step?

Issues with video playback,,,,,

Hi All,
I did a search and can't find an answer.
First off, I'm running stock build JZ054K with stock kernel and modem. I'm rooted and all, just decided to install stock stuff for now. Of course that's 4.1.2.
When I transfer video files to the phone memory or the SD card, I'm having trouble getting them to play back. I've tried MP4, AVI, Wave and have also let the phone convert them as they transfer. The AVI won't play at all, it just says this file won't play. The wave will but has terrible quality. The MP4 is really finicky. Sometimes they will transfer and play part way through, sometimes all the way and sometimes not at all. Could it be the stock video player? I also have MX player but it doesn't seem to do much better. In fact it general does worse.
Should I let the videos convert or should I just transfer them as is. I've even had videos I took with the phone that didn't want to play.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
When transferring files to your phone make sure to not convert... Download (and there are many more apps but my favorites are) MXplayer or DicePlayer and watch the videos through that... Not only are there options within each players settings that allow you to adjust playback options for optimization but then at least you don't have to convert files (a copy of a copy is quite like the original, etc)
