clear a2sd data - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well I keep having issues with random apps blno matter what ROM. I get an insuficient (sorry bad at spelling) storage error every time i download specific apps. Sometimes it happens to random installed apps and they just get insta fc until I uninstall and then I can't reinstall. I've heard people saying my a2sd cache might be full but I rarely use app to sd.. is there any other caches I can delete that may fix this? And yes I've wiped everything before each flash besides sd card

The insufficient storage error typically occurs when you have installed a lot of apps and you are out of app sotrage space on your phone. when you are out of space and you try to install a new app it will give you that error.
The instant FC is typically a problem between the app and the rom. If you get random instant FCs you might try using a different rom.
I reccomend using a wipe script like VR Superwipe or SNS Super Wipe before flashing a rom. they are in zip files and you flash them the same way you flash a rom to clear out your phone.

Occasionally, the insufficiant storage error can be caused by the kernel. You could try flashing a different kernel to see if the issue persists.

It's always something different with each kernel. Currently I'm on stock. And it happens with most versions of underworld also.

i'm so frustrated

i have followed the guide how to root my desire hd but when i try to download the rom manger from the market i get it to download rom manager and when it tries to install it theres a message saying, cant install, out of disc space
What about removing something else?
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
thats the strange thing, i have 900 mb free :/
Do you have 900Mb free on your internal phone memory, or your microSD card?
Downloading apps will require free internal memory.
This actually seems like a ROM related problem.
Similar problems were faced with Custom Jellybean ROMs, one of which was Gimmeabreak.
Try checking with the thread from which you got your custom ROM to see if anyone has suffered a similar problem.
Wiping your cache and dalvik cache and clearing your playstore data is also worth a shot:fingers-crossed:
Good luck and hope I could help :good:

When you flashed the stock rom, did you go into recovery and do a complete wipe/factory reset beforehand? What version of the Market app are you using? You may want to try clearing the Market app's cache or uninstalling the Market app's updates.
Yep that was the first thing I tried. I ended up calling Sprint, HTC and Google. All with out any luck. So What I ended up doing was going all the way stock back to unrooting the phone. I then tested the market and it worked fine. Odd how it would affect 3 different roms, CM 7, 6 and stock. I have managed to root it again and it still works. Something goofy to say the least.
That is weird, but hey, you got it taken care of, my friend. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day...

[Q] 51mb free, yet apps won't install due to memory shortage!

I am running Leedroid 3.08.2 A2SD, which has been running well to date.
I had a problem with Dolphin HD browser yesterday, when it kept force closing when i tried to use it. I unistalled it and tried to restore from Titanium backup, but was told there was not enough memory available to install. I tried to download the app from the market, but same result.
I am puzzled as I have lots of free space. Quick Sytem Info reports the following
A2SD 127mb free
Internal 51mb free
System 22mb free
Sys Cache 31mb free
I have tried to install some other apps and had similar problems. I have rebooted, but that makes no difference.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Any possible solutions?
Cheers
I have no real solution here, never had such a problem...
I would try to wipe /cache in recovery and try installation again.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it hasn't solved the problem.
While I was trying 3 other apps updated with no problem!

Would a wipe of dalvik-cache not help ? After a restart, it should makes a change.
Please note that 1st boot after this wipe will be longuer as the dalvik-cache will be reconstructed, but then boot time will be normal.
Seen that silly message a long time ago with MIUI and used a script to move dalvik to SD-ext which solved the problem. In this case, this might be different as Sense is used, but problem might still be linked to dalvik-cache...
Thanks for the suggestion ouglouck. Tried this and still having the same problem. Managed to install a couple of new apps, but still can't get Dolphin to install!

Constant force close on all apps

Hi,
I have recently flashed my phone with the latest CM7 ROM. I also partitioned my sd card and installed Data2SD to increase the internal storage.
This worked fine for about a week but then the ADW launcher started force closing, this then started a chain reaction which caused almost all the other apps to start force closing. Rebooting the phone and fixing the permissions temporarily fixes the issue but then after a few days it starts again.
I have tried clearing data and caches in recovery, reformatting sd card and reflashing everything but the problem starts again after a few hours or days. Once one app force closes it starts a chain reaction that causes practically all of them to force close.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
David

Which latest version nightly or the stable one?
Which data2sd script did you flash? Some of them can make those kind of problems.
Have you checked your filesystem? You can do this in your recovery.
And try to remove and reinsert your SD-card, a bad connection is known to bring a lot of problems.

It was the stable build, cm-7.2.0.1-bravo. I downloaded the data2sd script from a blog tutorial on how to increase internal storage on a htc desire, it was called Data2SDInstallerX1.zip from droidzone. Are there any data2sd scripts that you have found are stable and would recommend?

Yes i have tried removing and re-inserting sd card and rebooting phone etc. It seems to fix the problem temporarily but it usually comes back within a few hours.
I would recommend cm 7.2 from Proz0r's thread with built in int2sd script.
Here is the thread go there and see if you like it you have a complete rom there to download and install.

Just use S2E app on the market. Launch the app, check all options and reboot. Problem solved.

[Q] Having problems upgrading roms

Any time I try to flash a rom or anything I keep getting this message: E:/error opening '/data/lost+found'
I've tried flashing different roms but it hasn't helped.
I'm having this weird problem where when I flash a new rom about 20 random apps are transferred over to the new rom. (like random games and apps)
Also every time I uninstall any app I get "cannot read data/xposed/modules.whitelist"
The app still uninstalls but this just concerns me.
Could anyone help me out? I just want to do a fresh install of liquid smooth.

I found this in the Nexus 4 forum-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147501. Sounds like the same issue.

Wipe everything, data, system, cache and dalvik
Then try reflashing your rom
Ok have you installed any app to sd type of application? It sounds like your internal storage is being read as external and visa versa.
Also i know there's lots of support for twrp but I swear by cwm when it comes to the GS3. I use twrp on my Nexus and that's fine but on the S3 cwm has always worked better in my opinion.
What roms are you trying to flash? They are sprint s3 roms right from this section?

I've done that. That's what the one post suggested.
I just don't understand why I'm still getting apps showing up when I install new roms.
What about wiping storage? I know you don't want to lose anything but it sounds like something in your storage causing this.

I haven't installed any app to sd type applications.
I do think part of the internal is being used as external but I thought that's just how it was.
I only have roms, nandroids, and titanium backups on my sd card.
I installed twrp because when I first started it seemed like that was what most people were recommending but it doesn't matter to me. I might switch.
Also I've been switching between cleanbean and liquid smooth, both from this section.
The main thing that bugs me is when uninstalling apps says "cannot read data/xposed/modules.whitelist"
The app still uninstalls but it just doesn't seem good.

A couple weeks ago, I was switching from a AOSP ROM to a TW ROM and I got the same error. Thinking it was TWRP, I hooked my phone up to my computer and flashed CWM. I then tried to flash the ROM in CWM and it was a no go. I still got the same error. I just decided to transfer all my data from my internal sd to my computer. I used Odin to flash the stock tar file. After that, I used QBKing77's method to root from recovery. Then I flashed my ROM and I got 0 errors. So all I had to do was start fresh haha. It took a bit of time because I was taking many precautions (as should you) Good luck!
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Yes just as posted above, but before going the route of Odin back to stock. Copy all your files (important) from internal and external to your computer. Then boot into recovery no need to change now and reformat your internal and external storage, wipe cache and dalvik and fix permissions and reboot. Then download a fresh zip of a rom to flash and test it. If it all works then go through your files and move back what you need. I'm pretty sure you have a bunch of O folders in your internal.
