I recently upgraded from Blazer 4.0 rom with stock EL29 kernel- and modem to 4.1
and the only bug I can find is no mms function- It says sending- and it also said failed 2 times. tried sending to other people as a test- still not sent- although it says sending- had no problem with 4.0. I even tried switching kernel to gunslinger
but all that did was eat up battery at a ridiculous pace. ( used tegrak to set clocking to 1200, . I also flashed zip file for mms fix- and it didnt fix. Hopefully- someone can help out- tried clearing out sms cache. no help there.
I also wih there was a easy to id log & description of what zip file/fix for a respective bug- I really like this rom...but- contacting phantom hacker is- TOUGH.

I have 4.1 as my daily driver never had an issues with mms... Did you check if your mms url is right... I have mine on boost mobile cause that's my carrier so yours should be what ever carrier you have.. Also try a profile update and a prl update
If the updating prl doesn't work. You could try wiping the cache and dalvic in recovery then reboot. If worse comes to worse wipe everything and install again.

Try wiping everything and re-flashing.
For me, I had to connect to 4G because the 3G would not do.
Also, are you using any sort of program like GO SMS, Handcent, Chomp SMS?
Update profile and prl then reboot. This always worked for me.
Any mms in the "sending" stage wont go through unless you send another mms in that same thread. I usually just long press the pic and delete message then send another fresh

Use Root Explorer and go into /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases and delete the telephony.db file. I do believe that will work.
I think the only bug in 4.1 is the stock video codecs. 4.0 plays videos flawlessly in the stock video player but freezes on 4.1 or it just won't play avi's or wmv and etc.

Just start rom scratch my friend. Stock el29 with root one click then add cwm then back to blazer 4.1. I have heard about people complaining about that lately on Facebook so I could be sprint not your phone.

Almost every text I send fails.. I have full bars, go to send a text and then after a while the text fails to send..(they still end up receiving it anyway, but its a huge issue because the phone constantly alerts that my text failed). I can make calls just fine. Is anyone else having this problem with this ROM? IS there a fix? I'm 99% sure its installed just fine and my hardware is impeccable.
I had this before on ee odin then reflash to bonsai it should fix it. Btw i dont have this on bonsai

If you're using gingerbread theme, try this.
If not, do what the post says above and it should fix the problem. If you're wanting to try something easier first, simply try reflashing the ROM. But I think it does occur to many people that have a problem during switching Modems in Odin.
The same thing is happening to me, but Im not using a custom rom. I'm using stock D118
I had an issue with bonsai where my messages would stick on "sending". I rebooted the phone and the problem hasnt come back until i flashed v2.0 of bonsai..i rebooted again and all is well. for safety measures i reflashed the dk28 modem...i replied to your post in the bonsai thread and said that you can also odin the DI18 modem which some people have said works better than DK28 and the internet speeds are much better..
hmm darn, well i just restored to the point before i flashed bonsai and flashed nebula 1.0.7 instead and its working perfectly
Having the same radio problems with this one as Midnight v 3.1, I've tested both and can hardly send a text to save my life. I go to send it times out and fails then i get the error message did not send, yet they still recieve it. Its frustrating because I really wanted to run either of those two. Not sure why but these two must be similar causing the same problem. (in midnight theres a huge thanks to bonsai dev's so just assuming its a similar Rom)

I've been restoring to the point of when i just flashed stock dk28 and reflashing both these roms and still every other text fails to send. should i try to odin back to stock dk28 and reroot? does that do a more effective wipe then restoring back to stock dk28 with root? (because i made a backup right after i did the oneclickrootcw3)
well i odin'd back to stock and rerooted and reflashed midnight and im still failing every other text Im a heavy texter and like to go fast and often when im going.. when every other message is failing it becomes impossible to talk to someone. calls work fine.
I have a Samsung Epic 4G Touch ( sprint )
MMs worked before rooting- Flashed Blazer 4.0 using Calkulin(full) Wipe Zip. Updated to 4.1- ( using modified calkulin wipe zip)and then NO MMS.
Cant seem to find where the setting might be wrong for
allowing function of mms- Tried Rom Toolbox to find errors-
But not dont know enough about where/what is wrong.
Tried this weekend to wipe all with calkulins zip(full) again- wiped dalvik, and cache- went back to Blazer 4.1- still no mms-
I'm going nuts with this- if I cant fix this- going to wipe again and go to another rom altogether. Please help me figure this frustrating issue out. Please elaborate when possible. ( tried sending a pm to phantom Hacker- but he doesnt answer pms apparently.
Did you try updating profile/PRL?
mms issue
Yes- tried updating PRL, Profile-
what other settings could affect this- somone mentioned the URL. Where would that be? ( they didnt say..)
I dont want to restore to stock and go to sprint store if I can avoid doing a hard reset. NO Other problems are
affecting phone. I'm all ears.
maybe it's something to do with service, im only throwing that out there because ive flashed blazer atleast 20 times (not exaggerating) on 4 diff e4gt's and have never had that issue or even heard anyone mention it running blazer. try going to the blazer rom thread and doing a search in there on it.
also im not exactly sure if these stayed the same on gb/ics but you can glimpse at the settings by trying ##data# or ##debug#.

Have you tried to re-flash The ROM? I had problems with MMS but a re-flash fixed it. Sometimes things go wrong even if you do everything right.

as a follow up im assuming you don't have your msl code for checking those. just download terminal emulator, type in su, then type in getprop ril.MSL exactly like that with the caps the same way and your msl code will pop up.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Not sure what exactly you mean by no MMS... Does it keep "Sending..." MMS messages infinitely?
Regardless of what's going on, try using Root Explorer (or the root file manager of your choice) to navigate to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/ and then delete telephony.db. Restart your phone and try sending an MMS. It won't harm anything if that's not the issue, but I've needed to do it a couple times both after flashing new ROMs and modems.
mms issue- cause unknown
Due to the complexity of the issue- tried prl reset, profile,
reinstall EL 29 modem and went back to stock rom, just rooted- I tried one last thing to resolve- before unrooting-
I pulled battery out for 3 minutes, then wiped with calkulin full wipe-,( afterwards)( NOT hard reset ) wiped cache, dalvik and then rebooted- sent a test mms to myself- and no more problem-
then ( sent test mm. Sps to another person- just to be sure - and error gone- In my opinion- the problem may have occurred in flashing the modem- and somehow- something wasnt wiped or set correctly- technically- I dont know. I reflashed blazer 4.1 again( only after rewiping calkulin again- dalvik and cache just prior to the Blazer- So it was NOT a Rom issue. My apology if I implied/said rom had a bug.
I am running 'mimicry v1.5.0 and it has been the best rom I have run on any device. The one issue I have, and it seems to be a common one for ics, is mms just doesn't like me. I have went through the apn settings and have tried everyone I can find for tmobile but no luck. Now for the point of the post... can someone tell me what roms running gb have mms abilities? Another ics rom would be great but something tells me that it won't happen and unfortunately I have to use mms for work.
Thanks for the help

If i have Wifi, Edge, 3G or 3.5 I can't download them, it just times out.
I can't seem to send or receive no matter what band is in use. Which rom are you using?

I was using Elitemod, but am intalling Mimicry as we speak. I'll test an MMS later today and let you know.
This was also the case for me on Virtuous roms too. And the stock ROM if i remember rightly.
I am using o2 in the UK, this might be just be a network setting rather than ROM setting though.
Thanks for giving it a shot. Let me know what you find. Most of what I have read says its an apn setting but I have tried all the ones I can find for tmobile.

Thanks for the info. As far as I am aware I am on the stock mms app I think. And now to find a way to force my phone to use gprs.......

Does anyone actually know why some people have the mms "bug" in ics roms when others don't even when the apn numbers are the same ones from a gb rom? Possibly carrier specific?
Sent from my G2 running a random rom.
I have the same bug on blackout 3.0 and made a lot apn settings but there it still won't send mms. Need a solution.
Is Blackout an ics rom or a gb rom? As far as I have read it is something that effects all ics roms but not gb roms for certain people.

I am having all of these issues and more...very frustrating... Im on the nightly flinny jb build and need to post on there but running the noob ladder.
I have mimicry 1.5 and i use GO SMS Pro.. it works fine for me.
Yeah I tried gosms and no love there. Seems like there is a lot of factors that effect it. I moved back to a gb based rom and keep trying as I see new things for ics and try them but still no love for me.

I may have found something that effects the mms issue. Decided to goof around and flash a mess of roms tonight and see what they were like. I have the .15 radio and all the gb roms work perfect for mms. ICS and JB no luck. After doing a mess of reading I have a feeling it could have to do with the radio version installed possibly. Is anyone having the problems with mms on a .19 radio?
I'm running. 19 radio with edkeys rils and have never had any mms issues.

Alrighty bro let me help.
First download the .19 radio with RC data from this link https://www.dropbox.com/s/0qsobli3v07qbxw/VISION_RADIO_RCDATA_12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19.zip
Rename file to PC10IMG.zip
Put file into root of SD card
Reboot into bootloader and it should see the file. Use volume up to press yes
After its done you should be on the new radio. Make sure to remove the Zip from your sd card now.
now to flash the RILs download Edkey's RILs from here https://www.dropbox.com/s/5m94hm0fv..._26.13.04.19radio_ril_gps_so_updater_v3.1.zip
Reboot to Recovery. Make a backup.
Flash the previously download zip.
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache. And also wipe EFS partition with this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17578272/vision_wipe_efs-signed.zip
Reboot and you should be set.
Keep in mind that if you already have the radio with the RC data you can also flash the RILs during the setup process for Mimicry.
Let Me know if you have any questions.
I'm looking to get some information on my what can be done to fix the Data Usage counter on my wife's i927R (Rogers) running the stock GB os. Currently any data counter application that is put on doesn't actually keep track of 3G/4G data correctly.
I have been reading up on just upgrading it to ICS but I recently read all about the phone call issues after it goes to sleep so I'll be holding off on that upgrade to that gets worked out.
I did notice that there were some GB Kernels (like ardatdat's) that say they fix the issue but they also do a bunch of other things like overclock which i'm not interested in.
Is there a way to just patch the existing stock kernal to correct the data counter issue? If so can you point me in the right direction of the files and steps to update?
Any help would be great.
Thanks
If you want a count of your data, message, and phone calls and are on att, dial *3282# into the phone and press call. It is very accurate and gives you the data in the form of a text message. Not sure if this is what you want, but this is what I do.
Sent from my SGH-I927 using xda app-developers app
The standard stock kernel can't be given that feature, you have to recompile it from source and then hope you get a working version. We are a small group compared to the other phones as our model is not quite as epic as the original as the original captivate galaxy s is still a great phone and being an attention whore still lol..
But we are All trying to do our best to get more mods out there.
I personally use ICS 4.0.4 stock (custom modded to my needs)
And run lite kernel 1.1.1 you may want to try an update to your ROM from gingerbread to ICS and I beleive at&t launched an official update with samsung, maybe try it and see if it helpa
Thanks for the replies but i'm not on AT&T but rather Rogers in Canada.
Also, I would update to ICS but from the other ongoing threads there is an issue with the phone not receiving calls\sms on those roms once it goes to sleep mode so i want to avoid that until it is fixed.
From the sounds of it the only solution is to flash a new kernel (such as ardatdat's) thats specifically says it fixes the issue. Perhaps I can figure out how to change overclock settings so that it runs stock speeds.
To flash a Kernel do I just use Odin like a Rom flash? Are there any How To's on Kernel flashing? I haven't found one around here for the glide.
Thanks
The AOSP ROMs default to stock clocks, why haven't you upgraded yet?

I come from rogers too.. the ICS update will work fine for you and overclock doesn't affect anything. I was using literom with lite kernel 1.1.1 before upgrading to cm10.. then pacman 18.2 and now on liquid smooth
You should at least upgrade to Ics.. phone runs faster and smoother and GPS is fixed in literom too.
What version of GB are you using ? I upgraded to the latest GB first when I got my glide and I don't recall data stats not working
The current os is 2.3.5 (Kernel 2.6.36.3), The latest one available for the phone through Kies. All the data usage counting apps do not work on this phone. They all report about 1/1000th of the actual usage. Wifi data reports correctly but thats not what's important.
roothorick: I searched for "AOSP Rom" and what i found was an alpha build with a bunch of known issues. As this is my wife's phone, this wouldn't go over well. Keeping the phone looking and functioning the same as much as possible is key.
yohan4ws: I was planning on upgrade to ICS but now i'm reading the threads about the issues with the phone not receiving calls or sms once it goes to sleep. That is unacceptable as it is the main purpose of having a phone. So you aren't experiencing any "no radio wake" issues with your setup?
Hello all,
I used to have CM11 M12 on my SPH-L710. when I first installed it, I didn't have MMS or LTE. However, I fixed it using this fix from MopedRyder: http://androidforums.com/threads/mod-universal-lte-virgin-mobile-apn-fix-wip-cm-aosp-4-4-x.840298/ and I fixed the MMS with the fix from moonknightus on that page. However, when I flashed liquidsmooth v4.0 to my phone, whenever I flashed the MMS fix, the phone would not boot. Does anyone know how to fix this? It says it should work with all AOSP ROMs. The LTE fix works, but not MMS.
This problem persists on Android Ice Cold Project v8.0. Using Hangouts as the default messaging app allows MMS to work, but stock messaging doesn't seem to want to work with Lollipop. Anyone know of a fix?

You shouldn't need the MMS fix on lollipop, I didn't. Everytime I try to apply the MMS fix mine would not boot either, but just applying the APN fix allowed me to send MMS's in the default text messaging app. I'm on Boost Mobile. Have you tried flashing a TouchWiz ROM on there updating PRL and profile and then flashing the lollipop ROM? If you try this make sure you wipe internal SD each time.
Yes, I have tried it without the fix. However, the message wouldn't download. I cleaned up the phone before a new flash using the feature in PhilZ touch home recovery. I haven't tried flashing a touchwiz ROM to update anything. I'm pretty happy with using hangouts as the default messaging app, but is there any other advantage for updating PRL and profile? I've configured my ROM the way I like it. Will making a Nandroid backup, flashing the touchwiz ROM, and restoring the backup allow me to have the updated PRL and profile?

Updating the prl and profile will just make sure everything is up to snuff and communicating with towers and provider, in Philz make a nandroid, wipe cache, wipe internalSD, wipe to install new ROM. Flash TouchWiz ROM, update prl and profile, go back into Philz, wipe everything including internalSD, restore nandroid.
Thanks! Do you know where to get a good touchwiz ROM?
Wicked S5 is the best TouchWiz ROM I've run:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57728620
Make sure you can send and receive MMS on there before you go back to Liquid. That way if there is something you need to do per carrier instructions if it doesn't work, you'll have access to dialer codes.
Thanks. I'll get around to checking it, but I'm a little hesitant to because everytime I would recieve an OTA (before I rooted/installed custom ROMs), my phone's coverage would stop working, and I'd have to contact Virgin Mobile and reactivate my phone. Now that I've burned those bridges installing ROMs, I'm a bit hesitant to do something like that. Do you think this will happen again, or is that a stock only problem? Getting stock MMS to work now isn't a high priority (I'm fine using Hangouts), but I figure I'll have to update my modem, PRL, profile, or something else sooner or later, and I'd like to figure this out.

Burned what bridge? They don't care, it's your phone, you bought it. If you have ANY TouchWiz ROM and you call to trouble shoot a problem you can use dialer codes if need be.
I was under the assumption that once you rooted or installed a custom ROM you were on your own. In that case, I'll install a touchwiz ROM with no worries!

You're really on your own with AOSP ROMs, keep in mind if you go the route with WickedS5 AND need to call VirginMobile, don't use the S5 settings, use the normal one, if you read the thread you'll see what I'm talking about
