Ya that's happened to me once or twice, try force close browser or even rebooting the phone and it should be back to normal. I don't know why that happens.

im not the developer of it, but try the maxthon browser... its not the "simpleest" or the tinyiest, but the main reason for me to use it, that its the ONLY browser that works with the java based groupwise web overlay.
all other browsers slides all graphics to a non visible area or something... kinda weird.
YOUR problem should be gone with that browser too ... dont ask me why

Try Google Chrome for Android. Once you'll go Chrome, won't come back.
It's much better and faster. The only thing it's missing is Flash support.

Browser rant

Ok, the browser is great in terms of the speed, layout, support for animations/javascript etc. But I think the interface sucks a little. Where's the home page? I have to press 3 buttons, and yet `share` and this other crap I'm never going to use (share a web page? what does that even mean?) is right in your face. I find bookmarks clumsy to navigate, and there doesn't seem to be and way of constructing a folder full of bookmarks in under 30 minutes. If I double click to zoom then half the time I'll not quite double click and it'll load whatever link I clicked on first, so I have to double click on a blank part of the page, or use pinch to zoom, neither of which is ideal. How do I stop a page from loading if I've made a mistake or changed my mind? I'm not used to browsers with no stop button. Seems that you're supposed to just wait.
When I'm zooming in , it would be nice if the text was reformatted to fit the current width of the screen. Otherwise I have to keep scrolling left and right as I read. Am I supposed to have to do that? It would be nice to have a `reformat` button. Oh, but not hidden away on a sub menu somewhere like the home page is, but accessible from a long-click on the current page.
It's as if the browser was coded by two entirely different teams - a really competent one which has produced a fast, powerful browser which handles most web pages perfectly; and some other guys who've knocked up some rubbish front end quickly.
1) About stopping the page. You can either click in the top-right, where the refresh icon normally is, or you can press the back hardware button.
2) I'm guessing your Desire is from Orange? They took out the re-formatting function for some crappy reason. Really pees me off as well
Try xScope browser, probably that will solve your problem.

I've tried a couple of other browsers, and they're usually rubbish (no multitouch etc). The stock browser just needs a few fixes and it'll be fine.

Yeah, it's Orange uk - home of the `yeah, lets take off Google Talk but leave the service running all the time` customization. The sooner there's a safe way of putting on a stock rom (with the possibility of putting back the crap Orange one if I need help from Orange) the better!
I'm in exactly the same boat as you mate, and it pisses me off too. I just wanna go generic, and i'll be happy.

It's currently perfectly safe to flash a stock rom. An Orange branded rom will appear soon as a lot of operator specific roms are currently surfacing.
I have quite a few major annoyances with the stock browser although I like it best from the offerings. One of which was the stop button, the home button and the zoom. It always zoom in far too much and usually I'm one handed so that becomes a pain.

Well, it seems you have not tried xScope.
It is pretty good and it does pinch to zoom etc.
Also, there is a new "Dolphin Browser HD".
But yeah, stock browser user interface sucks! I really don't understand why it does not have proper "favorites" feature.

I think the default browser is the best but it's too complicate to switch from a tab to another one.
Is there an android web browser that support the **file upload** ?
I really like the Android browser... but i've had crap phones in the past.
Omnia, 5800XM then the Tattoo which i loved and caused me to get the Desire.

I have switched to Dolphin Browser HD, very nice.
It has tabs at the top so they are easy to switch between and also has swipe gestures to open a tab menu. Works almost exactly the same as the stock browser including pinch to zoom, I don't think it uses our flash lite though but flash lite isn't really worth it currently.
Orange took out the text wrapping? Crazy.

Issues with Latest Chrome Beta

Hi All,
I received the latest update for the Chrome Beta on my GNexus, and it now seems to have a big issue with the wikipedia mobile site.
If you got to a page that has a table at the top, for instance:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/Helium
If you then try to scroll the page, it refuses to move the page unless you touch the screen outside of the top table.
I have submitted a bug report to Google, but I was wondering if anyone else had found the same issue?
yup I see what you mean, it's happening on mine too....I needed to touch on the tables edge or outside it that is in order to scroll the page
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Same here. It has happened to me only with wikipedia mobile site. Everything's going great with other sites until now...
Same for me, only on facebook though

How did you get the latest update? I don't think I got mine, and it's not showing up as needing to update on the Play Market.
I have version 18.01025.133

You probably got auto-updated. 18.0.1025.133 is the latest when looking in the "about Chrome" tab in the settings menu.
Ah, thanks.
And I too notice this issue with Wiki. The heck...
Mine as well. Much slower load times as well. Very disappointing update.
I have an issue more with the loading of pages. Before, if I scrolled down, it would already have the entire page loaded. Now, if I scroll down, I tend to get a teal colored bottom half covering whatever parts of the page weren't visible, as if it's loading the page as I scroll.
i cant even get my latest google chrome to load, i keep getting force closes right as i open it.
Not work with low dpi, you need to set 240 dpi. Hope an update coming soon for low dpi :-(
i thought i was the only on with this problem
Google chrome .16. It works fine. There is a kink in the latest chrome and aokp and cm9 roms
http://www.mediafire.com/?uyjta1swtp0w459
Yw.
Thanks if I helped
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Its disappointing chrome takes a good 5 seconds or so to load when you first start it up.
this is fixed now (by wikipedia).
edit: but the redirection to wikipedia's mobile site (en.m.wikipedial) is buggy now ...
edit2: cleared my cache (for the first time) and the problem is gone.

What is the stock browser on jelly bean?

I thought it was supposed to be chrome, but im using a phone from Google IO stock unrooted with 4.1 and the regular browser is still installed. is this only for the nexus 7?
They aren't going to be changing the default browser. Future devices will come with Chrome as the default, but they aren't changing it for the Galaxy Nexus, they are leaving it to us to use Chrome if we want. I'm glad, I'll probably be sticking with the standard browser for now.
Updating to 4.1 doesn't remove your stock Browser. Could you imagine if Google just pushed an OTA that removed the Browser?
The Nexus 7 could come with just Chrome because it didn't ship with a Browser and get updated later.

Need my full screen browsing!!!!!
Thank you. Just watched the unboxing of a nexus 7 and he said that in jelly bean chrome replaced the stock browser. It wasn't even installed. So I assumed it would be the same for gnex.

The GNex will still have the 'Browser' by default and will not come with Chrome stock.
Now hopefully we can all agree that Chrome on Android blows away the default browser -- without Flash. It'd kind of be nice if they pushed away from Flash unless you need to use it - like having Chrome be default from now on. (Sorry Adobe, I love you, but even the good kids don't always make it very far.)
For those of us who want to always use Chrome yet worry about Flash. Try Flashify (on the Play Store). You can now set Chrome to be your default browser, yet if something needs Flash, you can "share" the page, which will allow you to choose Flashify. Upon choosing Flashify, the exact page you were on will open up in the "Default Browser" with Flash support.
Hope this helps anyone. :fingers-crossed:

Scrolling feels very laggy and heavy on Chrome compared to the stock Browser.

The stock browser destroys chrome in most ways, so I hope they improve chrome to match stock before making it the default browser.
I was shocked Google took chrome out of beta, and even more so when I heard that it was going to be the stock browser. I had just gone through crashes, lagging, just really not so good, and I uninstalled.
After all that, I still said why not, reinstalled when jb released, and I really think they did a great job with it. If you haven't tried it since it left beta, it's a different browser.

Does anybody know how to change the full screen mode?
I want full screen on to be the default setting. But unfortunately it always changes back to off after some time.
Anyone know the actual name of the stock browser by any chance?
Trying to debug an issue that only shows up on stock [loads fine on mobile FF & chrome] but trying to find info on 'stock browser' outputs so many generic results.....argh! plus i like using the javascript console & this doesn't seem supported on other other browsers.
I am using:
g-nexus 2
unrooted with 4.1
stock browser
any info much appreciated.

[Q] Is anyone else experiencing Dolphin Browser locking up on Note 3?

Hey guys and gals,
I love Dolphin Browser and have been using it since I entered the world of Android with an S3 and then a Note 2. I switched to a Note 3 a few weeks ago and I've been having really strange issues with Dolphin. It's getting to the point where it's unusable. I've wiped cached, uninstalled, reinstalled, updated to latest Flash apk, so I've done all the troubleshooting I can think of. I'm hoping someone can help or at least tell me I'm not the only one experiencing this.
When I open Dolphin, I can click through one or two links. I don't know exactly what causes this, but soon after, I press a link and the browser freezes. I can open new tabs and zoom in an out of the tabs that are currently open, but the status bar does nothing, I cannot interact with any links/images/anything on the loaded pages, and nothing else loads. I have to close the app and wait at least 15 min, or wipe the cache and open the app again. Same thing happens every time.
It's extremely weird and very annoying. I love the app but will have to switch if I cannot fix this issue.
Has anyone else been experiencing this? Do you know how to fix it?

Great, hope to see it fixed soon. Since I can guess you're a Dolphin user, what secondary browser do you recommend/think is the best? I love how Dolphin renders webpages and haven't found another that does quite as well (IMO).

I switch between Chrome and Stock depending on what i'm doing. Both have benefits
I use naked browser pro, aosp browser and chrome. Those are my favorites in that order.

I have no problems with Dolphin at all and that's all I use. ...I need more info to help. .. What rom? Did you restore data? Etc

I use Dolphin and I'm not seeing exactly what you are but it the browser is getting progressively annoying. What I'm seeing are pages taking forever to load. I click a link, the screen goes white...wait...wait....wait....get tired of waiting so I push 'stop' and then the page displays immediately. It's like it wants to pre-load the entire page before it shows anything at all, then it all comes up at once. Dolphin on my N4 recently developed this same behavior. If they don't get their stuff together I'll be ditching it.
My favorite browser by far and wide is Firefox. I used to use Dolphin before FF Mobile was stable enough for full time use but these days FF wipes the floor with Dolphin in terms of features. Firefox has an extensive addon collection for adblock, useragent switching, full screen, etc. plus it supports Flash Player and html5 videos perfectly. If you're not happy with stock and Chrome definitely try Firefox!

Have you tried to send a bug report to Dolphin Team?
You can send a detailed report in Dolphin Settings > Help > Send Feedback > Not responding.
I often do this to make Dolphin realize my issue and fix it.
You should try it !

Unexplained Chrome Change

I do not now know if it is related but I installed two Magisk Modules (Active Edge Mod and MagiskHide Props Config) yesterday. Now, when I am in Chrome and click on the open tabs button, instead of seeing the open tabs that I can switch to or close I see text New tab and chrome-native://newtab.
Hopefully, someone smarter than me knows how this happened and how to get it back to normal. I tried clearing cache and data on the Chrome app, but it is still there. I do know that chrome-native://newtab/ is a Chrome setting that can be accessed by browser directly. I can x it out to close like any other tab (this text will show up multiple times if more than one tab is open). Opening a new tab or new browser works fine. It is just when going to change or close a tab that you see this.
I would try to remove the modules and see if it still does it.

That was the next step when I get home from work (or over the holiday weekend if it turns into a factory reset or something) but was hoping someone had seen the issue.
Found it along with probably the culprit. Most likely the Edge Sense Plus Accessibility Helper. Now that I know what it is, I am trying to determine if I like the tab names instead of preview cards.
https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/07/31/chrome-68-beta-bug-gives-tab-switcher-basic-look-temporary/
totally thought it was an update to chrome lol. i have edge sense also, so that explains it.
