Kindle Fire Case - Trent IMP78B - Review - Kindle Fire Accessories

I purchased this case late last week and it was delivered yesterday.
For $14.95 it seemed like a great deal. The case is mostly soft leather and seems to only come in one color/style (more on that later).
The Fire slides into a pocket in the case w/o a struggle. You can stand the Fire up horizontally at a couple of angles. The case is held shut with a magnet in the flap. There is also a flap (not seen in the photos linked to above) which helps hold the Fire in place. With the Fire inside and case closed, the width of the case is just over 1"
There is another pocket inside and the outside has a pocket with a plastic cover where you can put a picture or something else I suppose.
The stitching was solid and in general the case appears to be very well made.
Since this was my first Fire and my first case, I wasn't really sure what I wanted. After getting this one, I decided I wanted something thinner. The case, with all the pieces and multiple flaps, just felt too bulky.
Then there was the style. I'm not sure what I was thinking, but the pictures didn't convey to my brain what it would really look like. For some reason, despite what the pictures show, I was thinking it would be a basic brown. Clearly my fault. This is where I first saw it and never really looked at the pictures on Amazon which do a much better job of showing what it really looks like.
I am returning this case to Amazon and will be buying a different one.
I believe this is a good case and a great value. My only problems were it's too bulky for me and the style is too "busy". I would recommend this case if those items aren't an issue for you.

Yeah, I believe someone posted this case in the "Best case for Kindle Fire?" thread. The one thing that instantly makes it a no for me is the color.

It's a nice case but the pattern on the outside is not for me.

It looks just like it does on some of the Amazon pictures. I'm not sure what I was thinking

3rd Gen Kindle Case as a A70 Case

Looks like the 3rd Gen kindle covers work well with the Archos 70 IT. Have a look at this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeJJ7hdFhm8
I spoke with Mark, the guy in the video, and he said that his is made by M-EDGE.
P.S. I went to the Mall and tested out:
Galaxy Tab Silicone case (no good)
Nook and Nook Color covers (some are so so and some not all)
Nook neoprene case (yes fits nicely)
Kindle 2nd Gen cover from Radioshack (no good)
It looks the Kindle 3rd Gen case is a nice fit though.
It's so funny you posted this, cause I just ordered a similar case (M-Edge Trip Kindle Jacket (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) the black one) yesterday. It was fairly cheap, even with expedited shipping ($30). It looks really thin and I like the fact that it is a canvas type of material. It will make it so much easier to hold in one hand. Heres the link for anyone interested:
http://www.amazon.com/M-Edge-Kindle...KTKO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1292130208&sr=8-3
I will post pics and a small review when I actually get it, probably by Monday.
yes. it fits ok.
Why not get http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9715885&postcount=4 instead? It's completely made for our device and same price. No corner straps (that i think looks kinda silly) required, and matching color. Don't forget the 10% code in that link if you get it.
Though the last kindle case link don't look bad either if you prefer that.
Yeah, the A70 case with the kickstand looks pretty cool. I had a case like that for theiPad but I found it to be a bit bulky. The Kindle jacket is very slim and simple. Loss of kickstand is kind of a bummer but not the end of the world for me.
Ah I see. That make sense.

Yeah, I considered that one, but it looks a bit too much like a traditional PMP case. I really wanted something stylish that resembled more of a book. That's why i'm so excited about the Trip case. It will look like i'm actually reading a book on the train.

True, but to be honest, it's so crowded on the subway during rush hour, my gun would probably go off by accident. So i'll just stick with my stylish book case. I tried it out this morning for the first time on my commute. It worked puy-fectly.
I have my Archos 70 and loving it. A case was a big concern for me. I compared many Kindle2 and NookColor cases and have found the non-proprietary (use elastic corner straps and not plastic clips) Nook cases to work the best.
Go into your local B&N store and take a look around. If you buy before Christmas, all Nook cases are 30% off.

New custom case

Hi All,
I just ordered this case for my wife's A100.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0060N4OIK/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
I have a case for my A500, from the same manufacturer, that I am very happy with.
Should get it later today. I can post my thoughts on it once it arrives if anyone is interested.
Wow, this case looks excellent--just like the one I had on my Transformer. Thanks for posting!
Just e-mailed seller, no shipping to Canada, and no equivalent cases on eBay

Just wait, when they are new it just takes some time.
How is this only $15????? And eligible for Amazon Prime, too!
This case is absolutely phenomenal.
Feels like you're holding a dense leather rectangle of quality.
-Fit and finish is perfection
-Thing is completey rigid (no twist or slop-- unlike those bezel-covering slide-in-pocket flip cases)
- Stand is solid and stable
- The clasp mechanism feels fantastic (really, when this thing is closed, it feels locked down).
- Protects the screen, back plastic, and corners. Seems to offer about as much shock/crush/drop protection as any case I've ever seen, yet adds very little in the way of bulk and mass.
- Access to all ports/plugs
Can't exaggerate how much I love this case. Protection factor aside, the thing simply makes me like using my table more.
Thanks for the review! Definitely going with this case now.

Glad to hear my review was useful--post back with your impressions of the case when you get a chance.
[email protected]! I waited too long and Amazon is sold out with no restock date. There are several cases out there, but the Blurex was the only one I saw with corner clips instead of the chunky looking leather frame.
I contacted Blurex to see if there were any other resellers, and they said that it would be back in stock on Amazon shortly. A few hours later, and it's back in stock!
how sure are you that it would help survive a fall while open and in use...looks like it would pop out...
trying to decide between thsi and
the acer bumpter case
http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/LC.BAG0A.070
Depending on height of fall and hardness of contact surface, I'm not sure I'd bet on a pane of glass in any case, but the Blurex's corner-clips do hold the tablet with some serious authority. It'd take some funky, but not impossible, physics to pop it out.
The bumper case you linked to looks like what I had in mind before going for the Blurex offering. I figured the small form factor made the A100 more like a reach-for-it-and-go phonelet than a full tablet, so I wanted a hard, snap case with no flap to contend with. When using the tablet in portrait, I'll occasionally get annoyed with the folded-back flap, but the more complete protection and premium/professional appearance/feel of the Blurex case more than make up for it.
I received the Blurex case mentioned by the OP yesterday.
Quite frankly, I have not seen any case fit any device better.
It significantly reduces the amount of bulk the "OEM" case has;
Because it basically has *no* sides, it does not have the OEM case's problem of ports not lining up quite right; and
Its material seems higher quality and is easier to grip in my opinion.
Also, under current (not Black Friday) pricing, it costs only half as much.
Very nice case i like it

I received the blurex case today, ordered based on what I read here.
It does seem well-made and I very much like that it adds very little to the dimensions and weight of the A100.
At first the clasp that closes the cover annoyed me when holding it open in portrait to read like a book. (I use Kindle frequently.) The sharp corner dug into the side of my finger.
Then I got out a nail file and just lightly softened the one corner and that pretty much took care of the problem.
As a result, the rounded clasp actually works as a finger hold to grasp the tablet in one hand without putting my thumb on the screen. (See photos.)
Overall, it's a pretty good addition.
I ordered mine last night. I hate the actual case that acer puts out. Cant wait for this one to come in...
My BluRex case arrived yesterday, and it's even smaller than I expected. It a very nicely made case (especially for the price), and fits like a really tight glove (insert OJ joke here). My only concern is that the clip that holds the cover closed might wear through the finish on the side of the tablet over time. Otherwise, great case! Highly recommended!

great! thanks so much for the quick reply...after receiving the unit, and looking at it ocmpared to the car mount we have, think this case will be perfect for it.
Out of stock
It appears that Amazon is out of these... I've checked a couple dozen Google links for the case and they all lead back to the Amazon "out of stock" page.
Anyone know of another source for these cases?
Thanks.
Blurex was out of stock, but stumbled across this at Bureau En Gros.
Acer Portfolio, has a carbon finish and similar looking to the Blurex though not as slim as the Blurex.
All the ports and camera holes fit great. This model doesn't have a smell that i've read in other threads. It doubles as a stand too.
Cover holds down by a magnet, so no intrusive or wailing clasp.
Check out the attachments.
p.s. i had initially posted this in the A500 / A100 case thread, my apologies for double post
So Nolan, do you like the case?

Ordered Several new Cases, will Review as they come in.

Well as you can see from my Signature I am kind of a accessory freak. I ordered several new cases, and screen protector, and a few of them are coming today. I will review as they come in. I ordered a Black, a Blue, and a Red Poetic Leather Stand Cases. I loved the one I got for my Galaxy Tab that I knew I wanted one (or more) of the same case for my Fire, and since they come on several color options I couldnt resist.
I also ordered a Black MiniSuit TPU , and a White BlueCell TPU . All 3 of the Poetic cases are coming today so I will most likely review them later today.
Ok, a little later than I had mentioned, but never the less heres a short review of the Poetic Leather Cases, and the White TPU, the 2nd black TPU (Minisuit) comes later today.
Poetic Leather Cases: All 3 of the stand cases are the same except for the color (Black, Red, and Blue), so Ill just review one and post pics for all of them. The fit is perfect, holds the Fire in place very well, and the hook that keeps it closed is very secure. There are 3 standing positions that you can use, and they are all in landscape. This isnt one of the 360 degree kind that will work in portrait also. All of the ports are easily accessed, and just like on my Gtab 7.7 only one of the speakers is just slightly covered (see picture #7). The stitching is well done, and the whole case seems very durable so far. I originally bought one of these type for my Gtab 7.7, and liked it so much I bought 3 for my Fire .
Recommended: YES
TPU Cases: I ordered 2 TPU cases recently, and already had one from a previous Fire and so far one fits great, one not so good, and one gets delivered later today. Theres really not a whole lot to say about these because they are pretty simple. But I will post links, and explain which one fits, and which ones dont.
The first one I bought is here. So far its the one I use the most because of how well it fits. Snug like it should be, all ports easily accessed, no blockage.
Recommended: YES
The second one I got is here. This one doesnt fit right. It doesnt seal to the edges like it should, has that slight bulge of the sides, and the usb port cut out is too small. The stock charger usb doesnt go in right when the case is on. Not much else to say on this one.
Recommended: NO
The last one that will arrive later today is here. I have high hopes that this one will fit great because its a Minisuit brand, and Ive got a leather Minisuit Stand case for my Gtab 7.7 that is great. I will update this review soon with the Minisuit Black TPU.
Recommended: TBD
Well since I ran out of room for picture slots in the first post Ill post the Minisuit Black TPU review here.
This one fits a lot better than the white one, but not quite as good as this black one that I had bought for a previous Fire I had. It may just be that its new though and needs to wear in. It just slightly sticks out a little too far on the bottom rather than snugging up to the edge. Now this could be considered good or bad depending on how you look at it. It goes on and comes of easier if your a glass half full type, but if your a glass half empty person than youll notice it. So I guess that explains which one I am. I do like the X pattern on this new one more though. Its a slimmer X, with the rest having a kind of carbon fiber look. Ive got a clear one just like it on my Gtab 7.7 with another set of 6 on the way. $16 for 6 different color TPU cases cannot be beat. I will however have an extra pink one sitting around.
Anyway I highly recommend this case if someones looking for a nice and cheap TPU for their Fire. Pics attached.

Hi Gam3r 4 Life,
Thanks for your review. I've just bought a case, but it's a bit bigger than i expected. Even if the size of it, it's hard to switch the KF ON, when it's in the case. Pictures are here.
What i wanted to buy is this one, but unfortunately the seller isn't posting to Hungary.

Picasa 3.9 has some "new" feature...there is no create webalbum button any more. There is a "nice" big gree button for Share....
Anyway here is the direct link for my webalbum about this case:
https://picasaweb.google.com/113442946972614822221/Kfc#slideshow/5734665025626575714
I own this:
amazon.com/Gumdrop-Cases-Series-Protective-Kindle/dp/B006K120UG/ref=sr_1_21?s=fiona-hardware&ie=UTF8&qid=1336054235&sr=1-21
At the time, it only came in Black. Seems to be a couple new colors now. It also came with a screen cover. But I found the cover got much dirtier then the regular kindle screen.
I used a knife to pry off the "plastic" screen, which was just attached with some heavy-duty double sided tape. The case comes in 3 pieces. You can choose to just leave the entire piece off that the plastic screen is attached to. but there is a noticeable gap and its visually unappealing.
Very happy with this. It adds some weight, some size. Oddly enough, the biggest PITA was having to pen the flap for the USB/Power to verify the orange light when loading into FFF. With Hash's new FFF, you get the prompt on the screen .
I had a poetic type case for my transformer prime (Blurex Brand). I picked one of them up for the Fire and it should be here today as well. Only $8.99.

[short REVIEW] MicroShell Folio Kindle Fire Cover

Hi guys!
Just wanted to share with you (and comment on) the experience on my new MicroShell Folio Kindle Fire Cover which I've received today, after ordering it on eBay for $29.
I must say I'm very pleased with this case, it's more then I've expected. It looks really good, feels solid, feels nice to hold in hands and it adds very little bulk to the Fire. The strap is useful for reading, but it's primary function is to hold the front lid closed or open. Also, I' was nicely surprised when I realized it can be used as a "lower" stand (see pictures), which is definitely more useful and also stable compared to the original "higher" stand - the trick is that you stick the front lid to the strap on the back of the case, instead to the slot original meant for that. Hope you get what I'm talking about, if not look through the pics carefully and you will see the difference between two stand modes.
All in all, I'm happy with this buy and recommend it. It made Kindle even more functional and coooooler.. ;-)
I enjoy mind as well, though I will warn you that the back of mine started peeling after a week of use.

That's not nice to hear. That happens within a year and I'm sending it back
I've had this case on my fire since Christmas. It is still in perfect condition. It's the perfect balance of function, weight, and durability.

I got my Fire used about a month and a half ago and it came with this case.
The original owner got it back around Christmas and he has 3 small children which were also using it.
When he got an iPad3 and stopped using the Fire his wife made him sell it.
I fully agree with everything the OP said.
After months of heavy use it still holds the Fire securely and it still looks good.
I highly recommend this case.
Thanks for the review as I ended up going with this case. It looks nice and the stand works well.
I..
I just wanted to say that I have had this case for 3-4 months now and I really like it. I haven't had any issues with it peeling or anything like that and I used my KF every day. This is a good, sturdy case.
This is the case I'm rocking. I think it is great, by far the best I could find and wasn't too expensive
Sent from my Kindle Fire running 4.1/Jandy Cane
I had a white one for me and a Pink one for my Daughter. The pink one held up much better than the white, no peeling, the white one peel within a month

Calculator-style snap-on cover/case?

All of the hard plastic shells/covers I've seen seem to only go on the back of the KF.
I'm looking for a one that is similar to most graphing/scientific calculator covers - something that will protect the front of the device when the device is not in use, and stays on the back of the device when I'm using it.
Has anyone either seen a case explicitly designed for this use case (pun not intended) or tried to put a regular hard cover on the screen-side of the KF?
That's a great idea! I love the way my TI-89 case works.

That looks nice and inexpensive too. I've never seen that one before... nice find. I wonder if it would actually stay attached to the device well. There's not much for it to grab onto.
I can't tell for sure from the main picture whether the case is put on the front side. The product description only mentions protecting the back and the sides.
Still, at $5, it's worth a try. Thanks
They make a clear one too. And considering the Kindle Fire's symmetrical design, anything that goes on the back will go on the front as well.
Nice

This is a really nice case. I just wish it was cheaper.
OP reporting back, got mine today.
The Good: It will stay on snugly when covering the display side.
The Bad: It's kind of a pain in the ass to remove. Definitely not anywhere near as convenient as a calculator cover. It tends to latch onto the side of the KF where the soft and shiny plastics meet.
Overall: Not bad at all for $5.
Also, I suspect it'll end up scratching up the shiny plastic in the long run due to lack of padding, but given the low cost of the KF, it's not a big deal.
