I've been using root explorer to try and delete a config.data file for my browsers flash player and the file will always come back after a few hours.. /: this is on miui 1.12.9, and this occurs both with dolphin browser and the stock browser.
Did you try to edit it?

No i didnt know how /:

I tried to write it out in your flash player thread a few down.I like ES file explorer because it has its own editor. You'll need to go into settings and under file settings check show hidden files. Then check up /, and check root access

Very sorry, this is a bit of a newbie question. I've updated to revo HD 2.1 and recently put on the power notification widget add on.
It says you can edit the widget.txt file in system/customize.
Well I got there but using root option on estrong yet I cannot see or edit the txt file. I've accepted superuser access etc. Selected Hiapk, didn't see it, selected cryogen and that didn't see anything either..
I also tried atsro and root explorer with no luck.
What file explorer people use to edit root system files?
Thanks for reading.

Why don't you edit the txt file on your pc before flashing the mod? ES file explorer should do fine...
Doh, I think it wad titanium back up causing problems, I reinstalled it and everything looked fine.
Out of curiosity, how do I explore system dir when on pc?
Thanks for quick reply.

Answering to your first post I will recommend ES File Manager too.

You can do it using adb, but you would have to work in the terminal (unless there's a GUI for it I don't know off?)
Regarding your first question: I would recommend Root Explorer, works like a charm

i think that ES file explorer is the best of the explorer
I use ES File Explorer and sometimes AndroZIP for unzipping archives.
Isn't he asking for a file explorer which will let him edit /system/customize/widget.txt?
I think the thread title is misleading.

Are you trying to play flash videos? If so, are you sure you have flash installed from the market?
If you have flash installed you may have to remove the permissions for /data/data/com.[browser]/app_plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer/.macromedia/Flash_Player/config.data
can u tell me step by step how to remove the permissions thank u
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
In ADB enter the code:
su
cd data/data/com.android.browser/app_plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer/.macromedia/Flash_Player
chmod ugo-rw config.data
That should do it for the stock browser. For dolphin enter:
su
cd data/data/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser/app_plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer/.macromedia/Flash_Player
chmod ugo-rw config.data
As for skyfire, I am unsure what the main directory is; but if you can find the directory, you can enter it after data/data/...
Have you tried Opera mobile browser

Opera mini doesn't support flash.
I'm guessing opera mobile does.
Its not working. NO SUCH DIRCTORY FOUND
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Using Root Explorer (can download from market) go to data/data/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser from there go to app_plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer/.macromedia/Flash_Player
You wanna highlight 'config.data' scroll down to permissions and uncheck all boxes then ok.
Those are the settings for Dolphin Browser, I'm not sure how to get Skyfire working. . . .

Try reinstalling Adobe Flash from the market. It sounds as if it is not installed if you do not have that folder present.
If it is installed, use Root Explorer or Script Manager (or any program that will let you view your directory) and see if you have a app_plugins folder under the mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser folder.

Even with flash installed that folder won't show up, U have to view a video first then the folder will show up.
I downloaded a new boot animation. I'm trying to move it to /system/customize/resourses but es file explorer and Astros say file cannot be moved. I was able to move the original file out. Now I can't even move the original back. In ES I made sure the root explorer and mount file system boxes are checked. I have the permissions checked but still nothing can be moved in.

Does either of those apps have root permissions? Idk cuz I don't use them..but its easy to just use adb to manually push the file
I've never used adv to do this. Is there a how to somewhere?

Use Root Explorer. So worth the $2. I don't use astro or ES, but if you can't copy or move anything in or from the root directory then / is probably not mounted as r/w. Look for an option while in the root directory that says "mount as r/w"

Yep root explorer is your best option. adb push can be used to, but its command line only.
Well I know what caused me to have this issue but I do not know the details why.
I was running the Mikrunny Odex ROM with the Red theme. I wanted to give the Coredroid theme a try so I installed the theme and this issue started. After many hours of trying to fix this I restored my backup from a couple weeks ago that has the red theme and all is good again. To reduplicate the issue I reinstalled the Coredroid theme and the issue returned.
I use es file explorer and i have no issues moving things to the system folders whenever I want. If its not working you may try to uninstall and reinstall the app and then go to the settings and make sure you check browse as root and mount system as r/w.

Hmm.. have you tried to delete es file explorer from your allowed super user apps and then open es file explorer to give it super user permission again.

Yep, did that too. I think it had something to do with a theme I installed. When I restored a previous backup I could use ES just fine to move the boot animation file.

That's what i was telling myself. However, after restoring my backup, I installed the theme again and once again I could not move files into the system directory or any of it's sub directories.

you can also use ES file explorer to navigate to /system/app/ and delete it but you will need to have root access and setup ES file explorer to ask for root access and where it can browse.

Try X-plore:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwxLDEsImNvbS5sb25lbHljYXRnYW1lcy5YcGxvcmUiXQ..
It has the option to allow or disallow SU root access.
I recomend ES too it's free and adless, and it looks very elegant (especially the icons)
