[Q] How can I repair my phone after update that broke my Xperia Play? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I update my phone (Xperia PLAY) from Android 2.3.4, 4.0.A.2.368 to Android 2.3.4, 4.0.2.A.0.42 on my phone, when there was notification for updates. It downloaded updates and turn the screen on with some kind of package. It loaded in little time. And when I tried turn on phone there is only vibration and green flash on power button. What can I do? Plz help me, I have lost the warrant and I dont know is there any guarantee for my phone!
P.S: I've tried that repair thing in PC Companion and it says The phone contains modified software that cannot be updated.
Sorry for bad English.

Try Sony Ericsson Update Service - its a different software - google it or search for it on xda.

Did you have an unlocked bootloader?

if you have a unlocked bootloader try this

If this doesn't work try flashing stock rom with flashtool.

Thanks a lot!
I love u guys that some flashtool worked!
But I have now that 4.0.A.2.368 and I want some normal updateble version like 4.0.2.A.0.42 Not any modified version. Do u know where I can get one?
thanks really, I thought that my phone was broken. I broke my last phone (ZTE Blade) and I didn't want to break this one.

If you need .42 i have it saved on my pc. Pm me and i'll send it to you. If you want to be able to update over the air you need to lock your bootloader again.

4.0.2.A.0.42 update available...but already running this !?

Yesterday evening, my SIM-free/unlocked UK R800i notified that 4.0.2.A.0.42 is available now (via Update center and notification bar).....saying 'you can only use a computer to update your phone.....' - thing is, I already have this firmware installed, and have had for a few weeks......
Phone is rooted (via Zergrush), but no bootloader fiddles - otherwise standard.
Question is, dare I plug in to my PC (PC Companion) and let it do whatever it wants to do, or is this potentially an issue ?
Bit confused ???

If you do you will loose root...just install titanium backup and freeze the update app until you need it again(make sure to reboot)

What Network are you with?
Update
I updated my R800i (UK/Sim Unlocked) just a few days ago..
From the settings, It says:
Android Version
2.3.4
Build Number
4.0.2.A.0.58
Its supposed to be 4.0.2.A.0.58, isn't it? But you guys are mentioning 4.0.2.A.0.42 how come?
What is new in the 4.0.2.A.0.58 update?
Someone in general said their recent update gave them sweep panorama?

Which phone you've got? The official ICS update is currently available only in Nordic countries, so it's normal not to be able to install it yet, if you don't have a phone bought from there.
Sent from my LT18i using Tapatalk 2
Im trying to flash the nordic ics with flashtool but im having no luck. i figured it might be because i have doomkernel v21 on my phone. i closed seus and restarted it and all models are showing again. however when im trying to reinstall the firmware i have already via seus or pcc i get an error and so now im stuck.

[Q] Help needed regarding .587 and downgrading !!!

Hey,
I am new to this forum and have been getting great help from this forum over all. The issue is that I have been using SE Xperia ARC LT15i for almost over an year now. I was on FW 4.0.a.2.368 (2.3.3) earlier and was going pretty good with it until i decided to upgrade my ARC to ICS 4.1.B.0.587 (4.0.4) through FlashTool and rooted it with DoomLord's method.
Now the problem i am facing right now... i am not quite satisfied with it. Problems and issues are same as many of us are having. Camera performance not that good, SMS LED not working, over all the phone is quite laggy. Can't play games... touch respond not that good as compared to previous FW. I like to use camera alot but cemera performance not good specially the video player. I like to play games in my free time but games are so laggy that it's almost impossible to play. Now what should i do about it? I want suggestions.
1. Should i downgrade to 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.62)?
If i downgrade... my phone would still be rooted? Bacause i heard that FW 4.0.2.A.0.62 can't be rooted. Plus how to downgrade... Through FLASHTOOL or through CWM?
2. Is there any other FW or ROM available that can still increase my phone's performance? I saw many ROMs like AOKP / CM10 / Ultimate HD but i have a locked bootloader so can't use them plus i don't know how to use CWM? I tried ROM manager, X-parts but some how I can't boot into CWM. Every time i restart my phone (press volume down key at SONY logo)... it boots in Safe Mode . I love to try new things out but some how... this CWM thingy isn't helping me out. Over all i like ICS because it has given new feeling to my phone my this laggy thing is getting on my nerves :crying:
Here\s my phone info:
Model Number: LT15i
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband Ver: 8x55A-AAABQOAZM-203028G-77
Kernel Ver: 2.6.32.9-perf
[email protected]#1
Build Number: 4.1.B.0.587
So which option should i go for... should i downgrade and how would i downgrade to 2.3.4 or should i go for a new ROM (Locked Bootloader plus CWM not working) help needed badly from GURUs !!!
P.S: Don't ask me to search it out... because some how i couldn't find any topic like this before. That's why i am threading it.

Thanks.... let me check it out & then respond back.
You do that
Best of luck.
Is your boootloader locked - or unlocked?
If it is unlocked then u have no problem with rooting...
If it is locked then u can flash a .42 GB firmware via flashtools and downgrade then root it.. Then you can OTA update ur firmware and still have root..

[Q] xperia s new firmware official update .55 problem

greetings ,
i have an Xperia s phone with the firmware 6.1.A.2.50 rooted with root many droids (bin4ry)
software update in my phone showed that there is new update available...
i downloaded the new update...but it always fails to update..
is it cuz it's rooted??
should I unroot my device so that i can update...???
im a bit confused :silly:
You can flash stock 6.1.A.2.50 again and then try to update, it should work then. Rooting actually doesn't affect update via PCC or SUS, as far as i know.
But yes if the bootloader is unlocked then you won't be able to update as well. So your device bootloader unlocked or locked?
One more thing you should remember the new update 0.55 is not easily rootable. The method which worked for 0.50 and 0.45 won't work on 0.55
Lastly the new update 0.55 doesn't bring anything special. I tried and then went back to 0.50 again. Still it's your call.
Sv: [Q] xperia s new firmware official update .55 problem
Funny thoug, that Sony claim to be open for external development and for eg. XDA, and at the same time Sony make an effort to secure that you can't root every time they release new firmware...

:good: thanks guys,im a newbie here..i dunno the answer your question...
i bought the new device and all i did is rooted via Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18...i dunno if it unlocks the bootlloader...
i rooted my device though it wasn't useful to me rather than before rooting cuz i dunno how to use the maximum before rooting..
i heard that the firmware is better for the RAM and i have a wireless problem (it freezes n dysfunction)..
thanks a lot again auni
anyway i fixed it ma self....just used the stupid pc companion and it worked though it took some time to download the update..
thanx XDA

[Q] Sony Arc is not detecting the battery

I have Sony Arc LT15a. One night it died, I charged the phone and when I started it up it was stock in a boot loop only displaying the Sony Ericsson logo. I brought it to a phone repair guy. He, I assumed flashed it with new firmware which was LT15i. So it worked and boots up but now the phone no longer detects the battery. I have another Sony Arc and tested the cable and the battery. They both work fine on the other phone. I downloaded the flashtool 9.10.1 and a generic rom for North America 4.04 Ice cream sandwich. It flashed the phone and everything updated fine. The phone now says its Model LT15a, Android 4.0.4, build number 4.1.B.0.587, Kernel version 2.6.32.9-perf. The phone is still not connecting to the battery. So my question is this a firmware issue? or a physical issue with the phone? Any help, suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Did the repair guy flash the firmware?

I think that he flashed it since the phone went from being a LT15A to a LT15I. I was able to use the flashtool and get it back to a LT15A though. Do you think this might be a Firmware issue then?

It can be that he installed a older firware, that leads to battery issue.
If you got open bootloader try to flash a kernel with battery patch

Battery
So my phones boot loader is locked. Do you know of any threads that can give me a step by step how to replace my firm ware and kernal and or how to properly unlock the bootIoader? I have been looking at the jellybean firmware but it looks complicated to install. I am a total Noob and I am just getting lost looking at other links and treads?? Thank you

For another guide google "xperia arc testpoint"
Or you can google sony unlock and do it the official way. But you will lose drm.
I prefer the first, testpoint
