I discovered - by accident - that if you long-press the volume down button with the phone asleep, it starts the default audio player. This is actually a little annoying as I've managed to start it several times without meaning to, and I don't use the default music player anyway.
Is there any way to disable it? I've searched but to no avail. I can see how it might be useful, but I'd like the option to choose whether it does it or not.
I'm running ARHD.
U can disable it:
Manage Apps -> All Apps -> Tip Music & Music Optimizing & Music Widget -> Tip Stop & Disable
Thanks for your reply forsaked, but that hasn't solved it...

Have you got installed the leedroid tweaks. It was an option in that. You can disable or remap the volume down button to previous track as well.

Wondering, cause i solved it that way!
And u disabled all 3 Applications?
I had same problem on Leedroid.
I had a tweak enabled that i didn't need.
Leedroid Tweaks -> Lockscreen -> Media Control and untick it
FTR, I'm on ARHD 5.1.1...
The only way to stop it was to completely disable the built-in Music app. I searched through the app for options, but there was nowhere to disable anything to do with the lock-screen media control. The number of times I've had music randomly start on my was unreal it was annoying.
I usually use ³ for music on my phone anyway, but the Music app had a nice feature where I could play music stored on my phone via my PC over WiFi. I guess if I want to do that, I can always re-enable the Music app. Seems strange there's no way to turn it off.
Just discovered this thread. This is one really annoying behavior. Has anyone by now discovered another way to disable this?
Disabling the music app is working, but it also disables support for Beats Audio.
I have the music app disabled but it hasn't stopped Beats Audio working:
Uhm, okay, now it's working here as well... Don't know what I did when the beats icon suddenly disappeared. :S

I have been looking for several weeks for a way to pull this off now, to no avail. What I am looking for it a way to make the Epic's camera button be a play-pause toggle while the screen is off.
I have tried every app I have come across including Music Button and Music Control (neither will run on Bonsai 4.1.3).
I finally caved and bought Tasker and can not get it to work either. I set it up as:
Hardware Event: Camera Button -> Media Control PlayToggle
...but it will not work with the screen on or off. It's tests OK but the profile will not load for some reason.
Anyone have any ideas? I listen to audio books without headphones using the Ambling Player and unlocking my phone to start and stop them is quite a pain.
For anyone that wants to do this manually, see this thread.
I would still love to find a way to do it with Tasker or an app so that I can show less-technical friends how to do it.
My DHD is currently running MIUI 1.9.23.
Once upon a time all was working well on a previous version of MIUI, but then one day I was unable to change media volume. All other volumes could be changed and worked as expected but when listening to music I went to change the volume and nothing happens. The pop up comes up with the current volume and as I press volume up the slider moves up and when I press down it moves down, but the sound does not change. I can set it all the way to mute, or up to full volume but the sound level stays exactly the same!
All other volume functions work except the media volume.
I figured I must have set something wrong and I found a newer version of MIUI was out anyway so I flashed it hoping it would fix the issue, unfortunately this is not the case.
I use my DHD as my primary music player and I'm guessing the media volume is stuck roughly half way and even though the level is changing on screen as I adjust it, there is no sound change.
Does anyone know why this is and if I can fix it?
No Ideas?
How annoying, might have to go back to iPods... really wish I didn't put so many Nano's through the wash....
Sounds like it is stuck in car mode.

My Desire HD is one of many that launches car mode all the time when plugged in to its charger. I have been unable to resolve this issue but it only adds a little steering wheel in the notification bar so I haven't bothered fixing it.
I didn't know car mode affected the headphones, is there anyway I can add the app to some sort of blocked list? I have tried uninstalling car mode but that makes it try to launch constantly and when it can't find the app is causes the whole system to hang for a minute of two.
You could download bloatfreezer I believe its called from the market
Then you can freeze that nasty car panel til the end of time!!

Hello
I have a question: Is it possible to use the Sense music player in MIUI? (with Dolby Mobile, SRS and Beats)

Just tap the wheel, that'll cancel car mode.
With MIUI, car mode transfers volume control to your cars audio. Unfortunately, MIUI cannot tell the difference between any other audio device. Plugged-in or Bluetooth.

I purchased this app and would like to use it as my main player, but it's sitting on the back burner because it doesn't fade out when I receive GPS directions or switching to another music app like DigitallyImported. I tried going through the settings and searching online, but no luck.
Please help
Well depends on what Google Maps or Navigation app you are using. I am going to give you advice based on the Google default Map and Navigation apps. So under PowerAmp you hit the settings menu and go to Audio, Audio Focus, and then make sure that you have the Short Audio Focus Change and Permanent Audio Focus Change checked. I have not had an issue with audio fading out for directions when using these settings and the Google Map and Navigation apps. The only app that has caused me issues with PowerAmp not stopping audio is the iHeartRadio app which, for some reason does not pause PowerAmp and, instead plays both audio streams ontop of each other until I manually pause one.
Thank you! Looks like my issue is that I'm still running v1.xx so audiofocus was not available in the menu. I'll have to update
Is there a poweramp setting to silence notifications when it is playing? I'm thinking that there is but I can't find it.
Anyone?

Hi,
First things first. I'm running JB touchwiz and rooted.
here's my system info if you need it. http://imgur.com/YQ2rILN.png
So, here's my problem. I am using two different players (technically 3 if you count pandora which I don't use very much) - PowerAmp (paid) and Google Play Music. The reason I have 2 players is because I have way more music than I can store on my phone which is where google play is nice, but I also like listening to FLAC files -google play only plays up to 320 - I also like having music on the device in case I lose 4g signal, and I like poweramp's interface much better. Because I'm using two players, they often compete for which one plays. I use my phone to stream music to my car stereo and alarm clock via bluetooth, and when I connect it to either device OR to my headphones via wired connection, poweramp overrides google play and starts playing whatever I listened to last, even if I killed the program previously or was listening to google music last. Basically, when I connect anything, it defaults to poweramp and not Google play regardless of which I was listening to. I want this the other way around, since I use google play much more often since I have so much more music on it. It's endlessly frustrating.
Now for the question - Is there a way to reverse this, so that when I connect my headphones or stereo it will default to playing from google music and not poweramp? Or, even better, is there a way to integrate google music's streaming ability in to poweramp somehow?
Oh, one last thing. I am wondering if there is a way to make PowerAmp and Google Music show on the touchwiz lock screen, with controls? Currently neither do, even though I have the option enabled in PowerAmp.
Thanks!
I haven't used TouchWiz in a long time, but I know with AOSP, there is an option regarding what the phone does when a headset is connected. It's at System settings > Sound > Launch music app for AOSP users.
Seems like you could fix it there. Before this option became available, I was using Tasker to accomplish the same thing.

There doesn't seem to be any such option in that area. I did just think of something, Is there a way to replace the lock screen that doesn't suck? i like stock aosp lock screen better than touchwiz, I just like touchwiz for the guestures and shortcuts and such.
Use tasker
In power amp there is a setting to turn off the auto play when connected.

I can't help with your priority question, but I can tell you that with TW, you lose lockscreen music control ability. I know it's dumb, but it is what it is.

Hey that sounds like a very good idea. I just need to learn to use Tasker. Please feel free to elaborate.
I'm having this same problem. I have a Verizon S3, and have a tasker profile set up so that when I connect my phone to a power source it will automatically turn on bluetooth, connect to my car, launch google play, and start playing the last played song.
The problem is it launches Play Music, but starts playing Poweramp. Play music is what's on my screen, but when I swipe the notifications down PowerAmp is playing the music. I've checked everything and it should be set up correctly, but this still happens.
Any Ideas?

Yeah, Checked and removed the selections for that. And nothing in the Tasker profile is connected to Poweramp, yet it continually plays music from it...

Hello all,
My (stock) HTC One X has the following very annoying bug: All music apps randomly pause audio (at any time, screen on/off).
I've tried with Winamp, the stock music app, the plain google music app and Deezer. It happens least frequently with Deezer and most frequently with the stock music app. (Drawback with Deezer is that it doesn't allow you to play music stored on the phone).
Does anyone have a fix for issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm posting a new thread since the existing topics about audio playback seem to centre around distortion or ticking sounds. I don't have any of that, perfect audio until it is randomly paused. Moreover, once it is paused it can't be "unpaused" from the lock-screen for some reason (so this becomes more annoying when driving/jogging/walking).
Rooting and installing a custom rom could be a solution, i just wanted to explore other options first.
Thanks for any help!
Does your headset have button(s)? Maybe you press them without noticing.

You are not alone, I've been having this problem as well. I've tried, winamp, stock, google play and it happens with them all. I just have plain headphone's plugged in.
I can only assume it's another app that conflicting somehow.
I have however enabled the player on my lock screen, so I can re-start from there, but agree it's painful when hands free is required.
