Failed to manually update to 1.29.401.7 - HTC One X

I’ve tried to manually update 1.29.401.7 on locked One X in south africa with cid htc_016 which is on the list, but once I select Recovery it comes up with the hard drive and 2 green arrows on it, then after a couple seconds it has a picture of the phone with a red triangle and an explanation mark in the middle. Can any one help?

You can't flash it manually, you have to wait for the file

Doesn't work as the phone can't mount the /sdcard in stock recovery. Believe me, I've tried and I'm not a n00b when it comes to flashing OTA files

Why it cannot work? I don't understand. Is there any method to get this work?

So how can I get it work? I got the notification, but the update failed as well.

Same problem here,i tryed to relock my bootloader, installed the stock recovery and still nothing.

i have same problem

Probably need to run the RUU instead...

And how do we do that?

I put my phone back to stock yesterday with the same RUU as you, and did a software update to 4.0.4.
What was the process you followed to get there?

Downloaded ruu, relocked bootloader by fastboot OEM lock or whatever it is and installed ruu by opening executable ruu file on my pc. Maybe do I have to flash recovery with the stock recovery? At the moment it just resets factory settings if I try to go into recovery...

when you run a RUU it installs the recoverystock.img and boot.img too....no need to flash it again
Wonder why I can't get the update to 4.04 then?? With everything stock, when you go to recovery option does it just reset your phone? Back to defaults?

Do I need to unlock again just to get cid? There isn't a cmd command to do it easily is there rather than going through HTC dev???

Although I'm not sure why we need this, we know which RUU works.
Try
fastboot erase cache
It might sort your recovery out and won't hurt.

Yes it should. Replaces multitasking fuction. I'm the same. Reverted to same stock ROM and haven't received 4.0.4 which sucks coz I'm so used to viperX and having the menu button

So I tried flashing twrp recovery and its knocked out my sensors again. I've updated to 4.04 and when I tried installing my ruu I downloaded it said wrong version but its the same one I used before I updated to 4.04. What ruu version am I supposed to have now?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
The ruu updated your hboot. The old ruu has a lower hboot version. I think you have a ruu on the 1.29 base you need a 2.17 base ruu now.....please correct me if i'm wrong here mates !
Verstuurd van mijn HTC One X
Ok So I used the ruu to find out what version I should download. It is my current version is 2.17.980.6 and it wanted to downgrade it to 1.29........ So obviously that won't work. I went to the same thread I used when downloading the last ruu but can't find the 2.17.980.6 ruu anywhere. I'll keep searching but has anyone seen it??

Help please

Hi guys, just got a dhd from a friend, he was on stock Rom and his phone recently refused to boot up, when he turns it on it goes to operator splash screen and then to HTC logo but then restarts, it never gets any further, its just a constant cycle, I thought I may have been able to root and install a new Rom , I can get into recovery using volume and power but because I can't enable USB debugging I'm stuck, can anyone help me, I don't know what I can do with it, thanks guys

Are you S-OFF? Do you have a custom recovery installed? If so, since you can get into recovery, just flash a new ROM.
No, its not s off and its just the HTC recovery I can get into, I have tried recovery and factory reset and its still the same problem

Can you boot into bootloader?
Do you got htc drivers installed?
Do you got adb installed?
Can your computer find your phone while in bootloader?
I have HTC drivers, don't have adb, sorry but I don't know what you mean by bootloader ?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Bootloader is the same as HBoot. It's the interference you boot into when you boot with power + Volume down.
Yes, sorry, I can get into bootloader but its the stock HTC one ?

No. If you want to get some help, then start providing information...what carrier is your DHD branded for? Do you remember what Version of android you had?
I guess you will have to make a goldcard and then flash an unbranded RUU.

How do I get stock HTC One V ROM?

Hello. A few months ago I installed the awesome CM10 on my HTC One V. However, I am switching phones and am going to give my phone to my dad and he wants the stock HTC One V ROM on it. I'm just not entirely sure how to do it though. I am a noob so I apologize if this is a stupid question!
Thanks so much!

Bell, Telus, Rogers, etc...
Who's your carrier? Their name will be in the RUU, and that will be the one you want.
There is also the option of sticking on a factory rom that's been rooted, such as what you can get from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082504
Your dad probably won't know the difference, it even has a 'light' version that's been bloatware reduced.
If you are rooted, download the cid getter and run it. Top left in red text you will see the cid. Search for the ruu that matches

If you have to unlock and flash recovery ...
Turned off ...
press and hold the volume down button and the power button ...
Select recovery flash rom ...
Thanks! I know how to do everything now and have all of the files, but when I plug in my phone in fastboot and run the commands, it says "waiting for device" and nothing happens.
Try using the all in one toolkit for HTC one v

In that case I would suggest that you flash a RUU and see if that works. You will need to relock the bootloader for that.

When switching ROMs it is pretty much always necessary to clear the /data partition before booting the new ROM. I didn't see you mention that you'd done this anywhere (sorry if I missed it).
