Hello everybody,
I'm on my first thread on xda-dev and i hope that someone can help me !
So, i have bought a Sony Ericsson Arc S, everything was OK, but now my phone has become an "Unknows USB Device".
I tried many computers (windows xp, windows vista, windows 7 and a mac running OSX lion) and many cables, and i got the same problem.
I've read that the HTC Desire encounter the same problem but the solution exists.
Can anyone help me to find a solution, i've made many searches on google, xda, frandroid, but in vain...
Hope that we will find a solution !
Thank you all.
PS: My arc s is unrooted
Try installing PC companion from se it might help with driver issue.

Hi thank you for replying !
I've already installed PC Companion but don't detect my phone
Use the option on your phone to install pc companion on connection. If you connect and check pc companion does it recognise an xperia phone connection?
I have already tried this method ... nothing happened
i think i need something like this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639
(this one is working for HTC Desire) for LT18i
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1533428
after two weeks of research
I sent it to rma (sony center)
replacement of mainboard
my phone with a new IMEI.
ps
je suis de Toulouse en France et je suis né au Maroc à FEZ
envoi moi un mp
I cannot send my phone to sony center because i didn't bought it from a store, that was just a gift from a friend in france, the phone is unlocked and Orange branded
Do a search on google for Gordons gate and install on PC it will reset your drivers that your phone uses.
Is your phone set to debug mode and have you set it to mtp. These are in settings menu. Try switching off it on and visa versa

Hey guys,
Just picked up the Japanese Xperia Acro with au/KDDI in Japan. From what I gathered, the phone is almost exactly the same as the Xperia Arc, only difference in name, so I felt it'd be best to post here.
Anyway, great phone, but I'm desperate to root it and then overclock the processor. Thing is, it's branded with the carrier, so I'm unable to access fastboot loader. (Holding menu and plugging in usb doesn't trigger blue light)
Considering this is my first Android phone, I'm literally stuck on where to go from here. Is it impossible for me to root this phone and load custom firmware due to it being locked with the carrier? Am I really stuck with an untinkerable phone?
Appreciate your help guys...
I can unlock your bootloader remotely and enable fastboot for you
The process uses testpoint which is in a different position from the Arc

Sounds good!
How can I arrange this?
Hi Jinx13. Would you be able to remotely unlock the bootloader on my Xperia Arc? I've tried searching through forums for the past couple of days to unlock the bootloader but can't manage it. I'm with Rogers Canada, I unlocked the sim and debranded the phone (I think).
Thanks.

I have same phone and now i have a galaxy note 3 too so i don't use acro anymore. so i wanted to root my acro phone. i know what you are going throw because acro phone is unable to root. So i flashed the firmware and then i could root my phone and everything is working fine. Originally my acro had "IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.118_au" firmware so i flashed it in to "IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.112_KDDI" then i could root acro. if you want to know all the steps let me know i'll post all the steps.
Good Luck.!

- I don't know you can use it in UK or not. But i think if you can find CDMA mobile network provider yo may have a chance to use it. Also you may need you sim unlock.
Install Flastools and Flashing a new firmware
OK this is how i flash my firmware.
I have a Windows 8.1 running PC so this is the steps i did.
First you need to download two files so first download below files.
IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.112_KDDI.ftf
https://mega.co.nz/#!kVInSCQQ!bx7sX1izriRgHK14dmXC1r2LEKTZ4By6CBW5UjAcqww
flashtool-0.9.18.3-windows.exe
https://mega.co.nz/#!JVpBjTaI!fV-1JgQm7-bmMbL-xBxYOKhDAMZcS-aUsIreEm_gvFk
Then you need to install flashtool-0.9.18.3-windows.exe. Just double click and install it and Remember the installing folder (Example - "C:\Flashtool" or "C:\Program Files\Flashtool" like that) and then go to that folder. Inside that folder go to drivers folder and install Flashtool-drivers.exe. Click next check the Flashmode Drivers and Fastboot Drivers (Very important you select those) and go down the menu and select the phone model (Read all well). Then install. If your installation finis without warning errors then you ok. If your installation finis with warning errors then do next step.
Go to PC Settings (Charms Bar) > Change PC Settings > Update And Recovery > Recovery > Restart Now (Advanced Startup)
it will restart to Advance Startup automatically
In Advance Startup -
Troubleshoot > Advanced Settings > Start-up Settings > Restart
After rebooted you will get a screen says. Here to choose options for that we have to use function keys. Now press "F7" to select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" .
Now your PC will boot with Disabled Driver Signature Enforcement and you will be able to install Flashtool/Fastboot drivers. so again install the Flashtool-drivers.exe and will finish without errors.
after that again go to falshtool installed folder and go to Firmwares folder and if you see any files already on that firmwares folder delete them. Then copy IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.112_KDDI.ftf file that you download before to firmwares folder. and then run FlashTool.exe (If your PC 64bit then run FlashTool64.exe)
Now on your device go to (Very important to do all the steps below)
01. settings > Application settings > Development > check USB debugging
02. settings > Application settings > uncheck Unknown sources
03. settings > Sony Ericsson > Connectivity > USB connection mode > choose Mass storage mode
Then connect your device to PC using Original USB cable.
Go to flashtool software click on flash icon.
Then chose Flashmode > ok
Then new window will open (Firmware Selector) then you can see the IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.112_KDDI.ftf file already on that.
Now just click on FLASH.!
That's all wait it to finish. and your device will restart automatically. and DONE.!
I couldn't remember where i download those files but i already had those so i upload it for you and anyone who want to download those.
And if this post helps you then be kind enough to click on THANKS for me.!
Enjoy.!

Hello
I've a big problem with my xperia arc. I unlock the phone in a store (taxi-phone). It doesn't work anymore after an update . After a repairman instal a "bad" firmware in the phone and now I can't communicate with it by USB in order to re-flash with a good firmware . I know we can re-flash by JTAG connexion to resuscitate it. Can you help me please on this subject ? Where is JTAG Wizard testpoints ?
If my computer recognize the phone by USB i could use this post

... but now impossible ... USB connexion of my phone is died
Thanks in advance
sorry for my english ...
Now I know that this may have been discussed several times now,but I want to know whether is it possible to sync with SE PC companion with an unlocked bootloader?Last time I tried,I had little success with connecting to PC Companion while I tried to repair my phone when it almost got hard bricked. So I'm curious to whether there is a way to be able to connect to PC Companion and hopefully get to repair my phone when I have a bad flash again with an unlocked bootloader.

Hi guys
There is good news for those who have hard bricked phone ( ie the phone don't even have a boot loader, cant start , nor recognized by PC, or go into recovery.... no red light when connected to charger) , i formated via sptool the bootloader and the phone was totally dead....
most said it not possible to revive it .....its in dead zone..... go to service center and change processor.
the new is for all local micromax , karbonn, spice (chinese brand) phone its simple and cost the least and the service is available for just Rs350/- ( $6/-), that to in under 10mins......
jtag service for just Rs1500/- to 2000/- ( $25 to 30/-) for branded phones
if anyone has problems ( bricking) specially in Goa please do post will direct you to the local guy center..

Any help in kanpur
Hi there, sorry if this is a common problem but I've not found anything and I'm in a bit of a pickle.
I have an Xperia M C1905, and attempted to root my phone. The guide I found told me I needed to unlock my bootlocker, which I did. Here's the problem though, my phone now won't go past my network provider page. Flashtool won't install on my PC, it is telling me I have the wrong installation file for Windows (I've got a 64 bit) yet I can't find another option. I've tried to restore my phone using the Sony Companion, but this is telling me I have modified software and as such cannot use the program.
Any help would really be appreciated
search for flashtool 64bit installer, or if you want to use sony companion, you must lock your BL first. sony pcc won't work with unlocked BL
