Okay so I watch qbking77 and saw his bid on getting fd26 without rooting (rooted before on NY g2 and hated it so avoided it on my e4gt). Any who I had so many bugs with that and he posted a video bout upgrading to fd26 with root and so I did so. Then I went ahead and tried to flash cwm but I guess it didn't work because I wasn't able to flash the kuban from that I wanted! Can anyone help?! Please

Mobile Odin is your friend and so is kernel EL26 CWM. Make sure you download and install SuperSU from the market first, then Odin yourself to that kernel and from there flash whatever it is you desire, happy flashing
So I download mobile Odin then where do I get the kernel?
Btw thanks so much!

I did what you guys said and now my phone is stuck at the galaxy s 2 logo. HELP
Get into download mode. Reflash el26 with cwm. Of you want an ics kernal with rogue recovery, you need to flash fd02 with cwm. So flash el26 with cwm, turn off the phone and hold power + volume up until Samsung logo comes up then let go, wipe data/ factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, then flash the rom of your choice. After you reboot and confirm that its working, turn it off again. Get into download mode by hold power and volume down. Go to Odin and flash fd02 + cwm kernal ONLY!
Reboot and you should be good.
Note! Fd02 is not 100 percent reliable for flashing anything! However, I have never bricked with it.
Whatever you do, do NOT be impatient.

Any updates made to the recovery? On 1.0.0.0 wipe data does not appear to be working. Also when you backup to internal SD it skips android_secure because it is looking for it on internal SD.

You can still flash a GB kernel even though you have a ICS ROM installed. It won't boot the phone completely(it'll freeze on the Samsung Galaxy SII screen on startup). But you can still get into recovery and download modes. That's the benefit right there. You don't need to flash all that though. Which ROM do you want to be on? The part about using Odin to go to FE22 and then go to EL26 has an extra step in it. You really don't need to flash the FE22 before going to EL26.

Ya some of them have CWM or a different custom recovery. What ROM is it that you want to install? What I mean is you don't need to flash to multiple other kernels/ROMs before eventually going to whichever ROM you want.
Go to the dev section and find sfhubs fe22 Odin one click and flash your phone with that. The reason you do this is so you will be on a stock rom where you can update prl and profile. After you do this, using Odin (with only auto reboot checked in top right corner), flash the el26 cwm kernel. Boot into recovery and from here you can flash back to Frankenstein or blazer whatever you want. You will need a computer.
So...
1. Fe22 Odin one click
2. Boot into fe22 stock rom and update prl/profile
3. Odin the el26 cwm kernel
4. Flash whatever new rom you want.

Did you try booting into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik, reboot, then try to update again?
Hopefully it's not a dumb question but I can't find the answer anywhere else.
I have a rooted phone w/ CWM and faux's kernel.
No 3rd party ROM installed.
I got the update today. Can I install the update with the kernel or will that do bad things to my phone?
Do I have to go back to a stock kernel and recovery to do that update or is going back to a stock kernel good enough?
I don't mind losing root, I can always reroot it. I just don't want to do something stupid to my phone.

Will this recovery work with my UVKL1 phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319830
It's the same. To prevent having issues, I recommend doing a factory reset before flashing back to stock.
Just back up whatever you don't want erased. You don't have to worry about the external sd, the reset won't touch that.

Can you flash a different kernel after installing the latest update? Yes. Should you if you want a flawless ICS update this Monday and possibly avoid a brick? Probably not. Up to you.
Simply put, NO. As mentioned above Odin fully back to unrooted stock for he update to flash properly. Otherwise you'll have a soft brick on your hands.

That looks fine. If you're on ICS and reboot after wiping to get into download mode, some apps will automatically install on first boot so you will get boot loops after you flash back to stock. That's fine if you do, just do a factory reset in recovery.

Just as a follow up to my own thread.
I followed this guide to go back to stock and then did the maintenance update.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/16727-howto-restore-stock-rom-recover-bad-flashes/
I backed up everything just in case but I didn't lose any data and it took about 10 minutes to do everything.
I'm just going to run stock until I get ICS and then reroot again.
I was on GB27 and decided to try CM 10.1 with Wild Night whatever. I didn't flash a ics modem first. It worked fine except for the 3g. I had no mobile data. I decided to try and flash FI27 to see if that would resolve it. I used the odin oc to flash it and it boot looped at the 4g logo. I thought ok lets just go back to GB27 so I used the odin oc for that one and it is still looped. I can only get to the android recovery and odin mode. I had agat recovery but it's not there. Please help me.
