I woke up this morning to an alert on my HTC 7 Pro that I had a software update available - "hooray", I thought, expecting just to get 7740.
To my surprise I was also pushed the HTC Update with Internet Sharing enabled, so my 7 Pro is now fully 'mangoed'. Don't know if any of you guys have had this too?
Annoyingly, though, HTC didn't think to fix the MAC address issue (changes every time you reboot), so my phone can /be/ a wireless hotspot, but can't /connect/ to my wifi network. Damn
I got this update today too for my 7 pro. I thought it was weird since I'm on DFT v2 I didn't think we got updates.

i guess it depends on your carrier and where you are located
maybe origin of phone plays a part too
i'm in singapore, where the 7 pro is not available, but i still got it
if it matters, my 7 pro is a unbranded set from the uk
Only IS for HD7 7720 not getting 7740 yet.
And nothing for me on the trophy yet -.-

Well so far I only know of Mozart, HD7 and 7 Pro geting updates so I'm sure you will get it eventually if your carrier supports it, it's just a matter of time.
Incidentally, I've very please that the update isn't carrier dependent, as this means for sure that they can't detect you using it if you're on an unbranded device
I got the 7740.16 update yesterday but if it is supposed to enable IS,, I'll be damned if I can find it...
Did it just show up in the program list for the rest of you? Is there something that needs to be changed?
Thanks,,

Internet Sharing is located in Settings, between Bluetooth and Email+Accounts
At least it is on my HTC 7 Pro, updated to 7740 (which if you look carefully includes the HTC update at the bottom) yesterday.
If you install a later update, all earlier updates are installed also. It looks to me like the HTC Update was activated slightly before 7740, so is getting packaged in at the same time.

Hi andrew
can you run WP7 Update Cab Sender to read the update log and share url of the HTC Update.
Can we force update like 7720? and how it's done.
I updated my unbranded hd7 to 7740 but still didn't have the IS. sucks!

excellent thanks a lot we finally have a changelog

Awesome, i guess i won't have to skim through every thread now just to check if there's anything out yet
thanks!
As most of Europe already havve this update is it fair to say the UK will not get it
Sent from the Beast that is the HTC One X in white......
Unless some admin at HTC did not do their job correctly causing the update to fail to become available for the UK I must say, I am starting to think the same...1.28 never took this long & doubt they only have one or two servers dishing out the update...the wifi is the only issue I have & would like to see if this fixes it! I might actually never buy HTC again if I don't get any joy.
*UPDATE: Just called HTC & they confirmed that the update (1.29) is scheduled for the UK but their "server" is on automatic rotation so they can't confirmed when I will get it - either way they asked me to dial in *#*#CHECKIN#*#* which forces your phone to check in with the update server and queue in for the update itself. It's been 10-15 mins and got nothing yet but if it comes in anytime today then this feature might be worth trying - will keep this post updated if I get an update before end of today.
Better get this update.. no reasons for us not.to get it in the UK!

You type in the numbers, so:
*#*#CHECKIN#*#*
will be typed as:
*#*#2432546#*#*
If you do it right, the keypad will vanish after the last * and "checkin succeeded" will appear on your status bar.
PS Are you any relation to Simon and if so, can I have Cheryl Cole's number please?

Thanks, got the notification, I'm in South Africa.
I think our service providers need to verify it or test it or something prior to us getting it so I think we'll be in for a long wait still...
Hopefully it fixes the wifi bug, I have 5 days to return the phone for one that will connect to WPA enabled wifi, maybe I should just do it?
Ah it worked.
Just hoping the final goal is achieved...
The thing that i don't understand is, I got this update the day that i bought my HOX, a little bit over 2 weeks ago!
Which is as you can guess before 1 May 2012.... which makes me think that am I going to get another update or that was it?
Cuz if this is the power management update i can tell you guys that it sucks big time, since i cannot get more than 2+ hours screen on time, no matter what i do!!! Never got even close to 3 hours.
For the flickering: it's almost not visible, only if i use it with full brightness in dark places you can see it apart from that my phone was perfect in every way from day one and it still is.
My only problem is battery...

Don't get me wrong, i ain't complaining cuz by my standards the instant OTA update was waaaay too cool when i got the phone and especially after seeing/reading lots of software related issues here on XDA (which i don't have any!) I have a small problem guys....when my phone is in sleep mode i don't get my text messages....as soon as i get the phone awake instantly i receive the texts....what seems to be the problem? need help cz i need to manually wake the phone and look for text messages....
P.S i am on stock with 1.29 latest update.....not rooted or flashed....
I already had a thread but im deleting it and refreshing my question as i have not had any response from anyone except for 1 which is downloading power saver settings but that didn't do anything.....Please help...Thanx....
UPDATE: On some other forum which i was searching for on Google, someone had posted to clear the cache and do a factory reset which i did and still i have the problem...i mean as soon as i manually wake the phone from sleep....i hear the tone and text message light appears....but if there are two texts for example another one coming immediately after the first one, then it notifies for both the texts....
***UPDATE (Possible Fix)*****
After searching thousands of forums i have found the problem to be that of software. Couldn't find a fix for it but found an app on the Play Store that does the trick...The app is call SMSAwake. Write it exactly like this in Play Store and you will find that it works and actually wakes the phone up and text is received. Glad i found something..... Do respond if you find it helpful.....THANKS.....
Yeah I have simmer on my phone if i receive a text phone do not notify me when I get one sometimes it do but loads of times it don't.
I will get the text if i go look in my sms inbox then they show up iv had once where someone sent me a pic and it just disappeared from my messages before I could receive it.
Im on stock untouched this started happening after the ota update from O2 very annoying that this happens think it's a software fault thou.
I had the same with the fb app on other phones never told me of any notification but on my hox it works perfect but texts do what the fb app use to do lol.

I often had this problem on an HTC Touch Diamond with Windows Mobile. What was happening in that case was the text messages were received, but the interrupt from the radio to the CPU didn't always work, or the phone was waking up, but going to sleep a split second before the alert had time to sound.
To the OP, what have you installed by way of applications? Things like battery savers or shutting down tasks using task killers could be the cause.
Regards
Phil

Assuming you guys are using stock ROMs and radios it has to be something specific to the One X and the carrier you're using. It happens all the time because one universal radio designed to work everywhere is bound to have issues occasionally on specific networks. HTC just pushed an update to the Nordic countries that updated their radio so I'm guessing there must have been some specific issues identified. 2.X when it's released will have a new radio so that might help.
I assume the One X has fast dormancy enabled by default. That can be a problem on certain networks that don't support it correctly. Here's a link to a thread on fast dormancy from the SGS3 forum that might help. Beyond that, I'm not sure what else to tell you. All phones don't work equally well on all networks.

I know there's a few general discussion threads already but thought it might be useful to have a clean thread that just lists the bugs of the OTA leaks so that Elevate users can easily see some they may have missed and report to HTC
If reporting a bug, please state your software and Hboot version
Bug List
1. WiFi connection cripples other connected devices on the same network
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1939630
All OTA leaks to-date are affected
Fixed with hboot 1.31
2. Recent App list sometimes shows a blank image for the last app
To replicate: Open an app, drag down notification window, press recent apps.
All OTA leaks to-date are affected
Still present with hboot 1.31
3. Proximity and light sensors not working on some batches after JB firmware update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922203
Early reports indicate fixed with hboot 1.33 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33754165#post33754165
4. NFC not working on some handsets
Introduced from hboot 1.31 - Only isolated reports of this at the moment
Please vote in the poll: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1976249
Proximity and light sensors not working on some batches after JB firmware update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922203
After swiping up an app from recent apps, sometimes it goes up REALLY slow.
Power saving option doesn't reduce brightness at times.
As I know, HTC will release JB for our HOX in Asia on 26th this month (Just tomorrow in my time-zone).
I hope the new hboot in the coming release will fix the sensors problem。
And I will test it in the first time.
You guys, just wait my report since I have a HOX with s-off

My issues
Sometimes I have a heavy battery drain from 100% to 80% in 3 hours with 15 min screen time (and no Wifi) which is too much. Its like it doesnt actually charge to 100%. After that it consumes the battery more properly.
Also I have issues with MTP and Windows showing driver error. If I get this error again I'll update with an screenshot.
Another bug (I think) is that you can't remove google dictation from keyboard input methods.
I confirm the Wifi and recent apps issues.
Per your request, I pull some info from taiwanese forum 'Mobile01'. I had asia wwe variant still waiting OTA now, so these are all my observations not personal experiences.
So far there are no problem 2 & 3 revealed yet.
Yes, there are reports on One X wifi cripples connected devices on the same network. Routers involved are from Dink and Asus.
---------- Post added at 04:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:13 AM ----------
Updates: ipads has been mention for a few times as the victims of the issue.
People who facing wifi probs somes had try to reset AP some had AP running on custom firmware. While others who owned the same router model was not facing the problem.
Media link isn't currently working yet with JB Sense. As it's now being officially rolled out I'm hoping they'll resolve that soon.

Question
Hi. i'm new around here and i have a rather simple question for a maybe big problem. Help me please.
I have a htc one x with unlocked bootloader, and mi friend told me that jelly bean update won't be installed. So i relocked it. So there is a question, is it better to recieve and try to install update with unlocked bootloader or relocked. And yes i know for custom roms but i'd like this way better.đ
Thank you.

However, you will need stock ROM and stock recovery.

Hi
My phone was working awesome, no bugs, no lags, good camera ... , but it started to act pretty weird about a month ago.
the problem is that network signal got weak. and by weak, i mean 90%of the time i have no signal!!!
it wasn't unlocked, rooted, s-off... nothing! fully stock!
factory reset didn't help, upgrade to lollypop made no change! i tried sim cards from different network operators, and non had signals!
i mean i had full signal bars at my work, but now, i have to search around for a place with 1 bar to put my phone on, and not move it!
do you think it's hardware related, or software?
i thought maybe, radio partition has a problem or something, so i searched for it, or an RUU to extract it from. but i had no luck.
u guys are my only hope. any help or idea is very appreciated.
hmmmmm, no one else having this issue?
no one has any idea?
no help?
this isn't how xda used to be.
it isn't how xda worked.
people would say anything on their mind, even 1% related, so maybe the problem can be fixed.
missing hd2 days. RIP xda!
Aw man don't be like that.
Did you drop your phone or something? Because it looks like a hardware issue to me.
I'd take it to service if I were you, cause I'm sure it's still under warranty. But if it's not, let's try to find a solution.

wow, an answer!
thanks bro.
no I didn't drop the phone.
the weird part is that my phone didn't lost GSM network connectivity completely, it's weak!!!! very weak!!!!!
I bought my phone from china and shipped it here, so I don't have warranty here. also it's a waterproof phone, and i'm not sure if it will be waterproof after being torn apart!!!!
I can not find any ruu for this device. :crying::crying:
I think the problem can be the radio driver.
You could try to S-Off so you could use any RUU. What CID are you? Maybe we could figure something out.

i cant s-off, because i'm in iran
my cid is HTC__621 (TW)
I really appreciate your help pal.
here are some screenshots about my issue!!!
as you can see in the first picture, i am connected to my network operator (irancell)
and when i search manually for network operators, this is what i see: (notice the star in front of my network operator)
now i move about a meter and no more signal, so i search for network manually again, this is the result:
as you can see, star is gone!!
and when i select my network:
what is going on? any idea?
May be a dumb question, but have you checked with different phones? Different Irancell SIM cards? Your SIM in another device? I mean, are you 100% sure it's your phone and not a problem with Irancell coverage? There could be a problem with one of their antennas causing you to have bad reception.

every suggestion and ideas are helpful for me.
about your idea, it was almost the first thing that came into my mind. so i checked different sim cards, from different network operators, the result was the same. i also used my sim in other phones, but it had no problem.
so i'm sure it's not irancell related. another important thing, is that my phone didn't have this problem from the beginning. after about 2.5 month, out of nowhere, it started loosing network connection!!!!!!
as you can see in the screenshots, my phone finds irancell with no problem, but wont connect!!! i thought maybe its radio driver/rom/partition.
so i searched for radio, to install it again, but i couldn't find it anywhere! :crying::crying:

hey pal
thanks for your opinion.
i cant do what u said because of 2 problems:
1. cant s-off the phone
2. couldn't find ANY ruu file for desire eye. none. not available.
Found one for AT&T!!
also i think EU is available too.
the only remaining problem is s-off.
(my friend has a nexus 5, and his phone wont connect to 3g, and he says its because of a physical damage. can my problem be physical too?)
My new htc desire eye won't toggle between 3G and 4g when avail
My network has forced my new htc desire eye to only select 3G as it was getting little or no coverage even in the city with 4g and was not auto changing down to 3G. Not sure if the phone has an inherent problem. According to my carrier it should be changing from 3G to 4G or vice versa auto depending on signal. So besides the fact it's not auto changing networks, it also seems I've bought a 4G phone that can't access 4G.
Any ideas? Should I turn it? Besides that it seems to work okay. I'm not an avid phone internet user though. TIA. . . . . S

Are you srue you can actually use 4G? Some providers charge extra for it.
Otherwise, make sure your network mode is actually set to "2G/3G/4G AUto". You can select it if you go to setttings -> Mobile Data (or wahtever it's called in English) -> Network Mode
Also, where you are, does a different phone with the same carrier (ask a friend?) have 4G?
