[Q] A100 ICS versions 014 vs 015 vs 017 - Acer Iconia Tab A100

After a lot of reading it seems there are at least 3 builds of the official Ics update. Does anyone know what is different between 14, 15, and 17? Also are there any links to the manual updates? And one last question, what are the extensions of the updates? ie: pa-ca and gen1 and the others.

Good thread...
014 is WW_GEN1, I am not sure if that is the official update, since it is not going to come in OTA, can someone with this ROM installed, report what languages are available?
I know, I changed to GEN1 Honeycomb build and updated to ICS 017_PA_CA after 4 or 5 updates, this build only has English, french and chinese as options. I'm standing at best buy now, updating an EMEA_GB (was my original build 2.007.04_EMEA on Honeycomb). The device has finished updating, and it's running the following build: Acer_AV041_A100_1.023.00_EMEA_GB (wow build 23). The image version is 100_RV02RC05_EMEA_GB.
The languages available are English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. Looks like European firmware to me. If anyone wants this update, I can post my original honeycomb install, you will need to install the GEN2 honeycomb first, then use DD to copy back my partitions over. I will put this on my google drive when I get home tonight.
Sent from my XT860 running ICS

I'm running zeronull's "official" 014 gen1 from here. It has 25 languages, including some I have no idea what they are. I have seen some reports that some people got 014 ota.

I personally don't have copies of 015 or 017. But they are talked about here and on androidtabletforums.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1635420
http://www.acertabletforum.com/foru...-decoded-official-version-ics-a100-xda-2.html

My Image version is: Acer_AV041_A100_RV01RC03_WW_Gen1. This is the OTA that I got on 4/24/12.

I found several screen shots of the different builds:
.014 gen1 and .015 pa_cus1 pics are here<<<
.017 pa_ca - HERE
I have confirmed, after downgrading to THIS version of 3.2 will get you .017 after a bunch of updates. I am currently running it.
I'm still wondering if any people smarter than I have looked into any differences between the 3? And why there would be more than one officail OTA updates?
Thx

Here's my chat with Acer support.
Naveen KumarA: Hi, my name is Naveen KumarA. How may I help you?
Naveen KumarA: Are we connected?
Josh Clarke: I received my update to Android 4.0 on my Iconia A100. My build number is Acer_AV041_A100_1.015.00. Some people I know got their update and their build number is Acer_AV041_A100_1.014.00 or Acer_AV041_A100_1.017.00. What are the differences?
Naveen KumarA: I will certainly help you with the information.
Naveen KumarA: Josh, please note that who are all getting the update as (Acer_AV041_A100_1.014.00 ) will receive (Acer_AV041_A100_1.017.00). This is the steps by step process.
Naveen KumarA: There is no difference between these update.

If there is no difference between the versions then why would all be getting the .17 one and it being a step-by-step process?
I swear, ACER tech support is like a sitcom.

Purchased Acer betouch E120 in Dubai with android 1.6. I would like to upgrade this to 2.2. Please advice. I am just a starter in this (no clue as to howto do these things) rather first time android phone
Some details of the phone are

Kernel version :- Linux version 2.6.29-nxp(@cm-03)(gcc version 4.2.1)#6 PREEMPT Tue Sep21
Build No:- Acer_E120_1.003.80_EMEA-CUS5
Hardware version:- HW1.0_900
I am not sure whether the above details would be enough to help me.
Forgot to tell you. The current phone comes with some arabware applications along with it, which I am not able to remove at all. Please help me in getting this removed as well please
The official firmware is due out in 2011 and will be on the acer support website. I raised a case with Acer and they replied with the following
"The release of Andriod 2.1 is not scheduled to be release until early 2011 (despite all the empty pages on our website).
Links to the software will be published on the website when available."
it might be stupid to post on such an old thread, but the update is available on the acer website
Hi
I just bought this phone and called acer before hand to confirm the upgrade is available. I have donloaded but not opened the donloads (my upside m is missing on my keyboard hence some eird spelling) on the ebsite. There are to donloads but none refer to the operating system. Any help or direction appreciated. Sa a screen dump from another thread and it shoed the donload as the operating system.
cheers
try reinstalling, did you download it from the official acer page, all i had to do was just connect my phone, and start the download on my pc and my acer betouch e120 went from Donut 1.6 to Eclair 2.1 the update is only for belgium. (sorry i forgot to mention that)
root acer e120 ^^
can somebody give me hint to root acer e120 and then i already upgrade from 1.6 to 2.1(latest version) thx....

ICS for users outside the USA

Hi everyone - just wondered if everyone in the neglected zones (i.e. everywhere Acer is refusing to release ICS for the A100) could re-double the pressure on their local Acer support to see if they will release ICS for "the common man"
I put in a request and this is what I got back (so helpful - not):
Response Via Email(Sunil Kumar BVL) - 19/07/2012 12.33 PM
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Acer UK.
We apologize for the delay in responding to your e-mail.
We understand your concern and regret the inconvenience caused to you.
There has been no further updates to when there will be further ICS FOTA updates, for A100 tablet.
For further assistance please do not hesitate to e-mail or contact us on 0871 760 1000 (UK), 0818 202 210 (Eire).

They really really want people to buy an alternative as soon as possible don't they?
Nexus 7, despite lack of MicroSD and HDMI, looks like the only answer dammit!

install leaked ics
root it
unlock bootloader
install CWM
install jellybean for christs sake.
if you need a repair just format every single partition so the service center can't tell if your tablet got rooted and your warrentee will sti9ll be there

Or just install the official ics rom that zeronull released though the stock recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611696
Or install one of the hc versions that are known to ota to ics. The only thing stopping you from ota'ing to ics is the version of hc you are currently on.

I could not work out the process for installing the leaked ICS - it seemed as if a small pre-OTA download was required before the main ICS update could be installed. That is why I was rather hoping to just get stock ICS (for christs sake) - and of course I would then also be able to buy and watch Play store films.
I am joining a forum well down the track and looking over zillions of past posts to find the correct way to root and update the rom on this thing is tricky. I am not a complete noob having rooted and custom rom'ed my past 4 Android devices - phones and tablets, but all of them have had little details which if you got wrong could end up bricking them. Not keen to do that thanks.
Also, I guess I just get a bit peeved at how we get everything months late here in the UK - we are not exactly a techno backwater.
And I do think I am right to be peeved at the pathetic effort from Acer UK support (oxymoron)
Anyway - I finally got ICs last Thursday (26th July 2012). Now I am super peeved because it has screwed up Adobe Flash (useful here in the UK to watch BBC iPlayer and other BBC news videos. Looks like the root and custom ROM option is going to be the way to go after all.

If you're looking for help on rooting unlocking and flashing etc check the guide in my sig, it in turn has links for threads pertaining to each process. Really the only thing to do is READ. I'm not singling you out, but a lot skip over stuff and that's when mistakes happen.
The process is all scripted now. Simple as (once adb is up)
Run root script
Run boot loader unlock script
Delete or rename /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Install recovery
Boot into recovery, backup, flash as normal.
Overly simplified rundown, but accurate. All of my ROMs run checks for device ID but not all do, so I would suggest for safety to look only here for ROMs. That guide also links to some for the a100.
If you have questions or concerns ask before guessing and you'll do fine. That's if you choose to go this route, of course.
Tapatalked from my Galaxy S II.
Thanks everyone for your advice and help.
I am now very happy with Flex Reaper. Everything backed up using nandroid on CWM.
Everything runs sweetly and with the exception of Polaris Office (a shame - it looks as if it is better than QuickOffice). I looked to see if changing the build.prop model declaration would fix it (there are reports of this working for the A500) but all A100 ROM versions seem to state the model as simply being A100 and I am not keen on tinkering unless I know others have checked out the results in advance.
If anyone has a solution for this I would be interested.

Take a look at the build.prop linuxsociety is working on, it has the A500 model change as well as plenty of tweaks for performance. I haven't used it myself as I'm running my own variants of jellytime and/or CM10, but for ICS it will do perfectly. He's working on a jellybean version as well.

[TOOL] Improved Version of Seven-Eighter

Over the past few days, I have been working on a new version of Seven-Eighter based off of the source code that Jaxbot kindly provided. I have made numerous improvements to the original version.
One of those improvements is instead of embedding the links to the update files as strings in the actual program, my version of Seven-Eighter downloads a config file from the internet which contains the links to the update files. In this manner, you, the user, do not have to download a new version of the program every time Microsoft releases a new update for Windows Phone 7.x. All I have to do on my end when a new update comes out is to just update the config file once I find links for the new update.
Some more improvements include improved error handling and some better instruction to help you with the update process. If you haven't yet, you should really check it out. I am curious as to what people think of my version compared to the original.
You can find the link to download my version of Seven-Eighter on my blog here: http://bit.ly/ZOzAz9
Now as such, I am always looking to improve. I welcome any and all suggestions. If you want to throw something my way to help with development you are welcome to do so, but not required (your satisfaction works just as well, check my signature for instructions).
Nice work!

To be honest, I didn't test my version of Seven-Eighter with a custom rom image (only stock factory rom image). What build is it currently running?
I have the exact same question.
I pretty much bricked by bootlaoder on my AT&T HD7S using the initial version of SevenEighter from jaxbot and now can't even use the gold card method to downgrade since I need it unlocked.
My RGB bootloader screen only shows one line of text at the top in the red and nothing in the white space where it should say USB HOST/Loader Mode.
But at least I had a 7.5 Zune backup that I can restore to, the only thing being that it doesn't restore my bootloader.
So, question is, can I use your software to upgrade to a custom unlocked 7.8?
Thank you!
I was finally able to get my Focus S upgraded to 7.8. Got tired of waiting. I had a problem with the application and had to close it. when I relaunched, it continues where it left off. Nice! I left the update.log just in case.
Now I just need to unlock it for side loading. Anyone recommend ways that still work? Thanks.

anybody updated at&t titan 2 to 7.8?
Yes. The seveneighter app worked perfectly. I just wish I could install the version of htc connection setup I had on my hd2 so I could change my apn settings for my carrier instead of being locked out of my mms.

T807t on 5.0 can I flash Turkish stock 6.0?

Hey there
I'm looking for stock marshmallow for our tmobile galaxy tab s on rooted stock 5.0 t807t.
The only marshmallow I see is for the t807a or the Turkish 6.0.1 for the t807 on sammobile.
What'll happen if I flash the Turkish 6.0.1 on this tmobile tablet?
If not Turkish, does anyone have any suggestions for something close-ish to stock?
Thanks In advance
A pity that often in forums to interesting questions, no replies follow. Unfortunately I cannot really contribute either except for essentially asking the same question.
I have the same tablet and would like to update it to Marshmallow but I am not sure whether the T807T version is technically the same as the non-T one.
Since your posting is already from several months ago - have you gone forward in the meantime and tried to flash it with that Turkish 6.0.1 firmware?
Same question
So funny,
No responses from my OP so I decide to give up.
2ish years later I ended up Googling about how to do this, taking another shot, and it brings me to the thread I created lol.
Right before I got back here I found a thread on lineage os that REQUIRES this SPECIFIC device (t807t) to be flashed stock 6.0.1 before proceeding with lineageos install.
Which to me brings me some hope that this old bird may have another go round.
I'm not the authority on lineageos, I don't actually know who maintans the wiki but check this out...
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/chagalllte/install
I'm Going to reach out to the guy who wrote that over at lineage Hopefully he can shed some light.
I wouldn't dare expect a Supreme xda mind to help with such a lowly request.
Yeah, "funny" as in dreadful irony.
I've already given up on seriously attempting to update this sadly orphaned tablet and considering that the most bothersome issue - the lack of any decent screen calibration - won't be addressed by Marshmallow either, it's probably not worth the trouble anyway.
At leastmy personal android update experience taught me that even if one or two things are a bit nicer or "better" in the new version, this often comes at the cost of at least the same amount of features not working anymore like they used to do before.
Same issue here. I had a proper 6.0.1 file for the t805w but now on updato all I get it a 5.0.2 firmware posing as a 6.0.1.
I flash it and still on LP.
does anyone know of anywhere where the proper 6.0.1 files are located. I'm registered on updato and sammobile amongst a few others I now regret registering on

Question Most recent firmware directly from Vivo

Hi,
these 2 sites always have the most recent version of the full install package.
Just found this website for W30 variant: https://www.vivo.com/in/support/upgradePackageData?id=183
also https://www.vivo.com/uk/support/upgradePackageData?id=10
the id changes depending on the country but file remains the same
and this for W10 variant: http://www.vivo.com.cn/upgrade/detail?modelId=282
here is the link for W20: https://www.vivo.com/sg/support/upgradePackageData?id=1872
also, if y'all were curious as to what is the last part of any of the file, it is the UNIX time
for instance, https://sysupwrdl.vivo.com.cn/upgra....0.13.8.W10.V000L1-update-full_1661926997.zip was added on GMT: Wednesday, August 31, 2022 6:23:17 AM
For w30 the newest version is 12.0.12.12 not 12.0.12.5 like in this link

Hello people, nothing to do so that the applications always remain in the background? I constantly lose notifications because they end in the background
