Don't know if this is any good for compiling CM7/9 for the Kindle Fire but thought I'd link to it here in case it is.

I know that hashcode and others have already ported ICS, but does anyone know if we are getting an official build of ICS from Amazon?

Doubt it. Amazon will want to deliver ICS on a 2nd generation device (ahem, the possible 10" Kindle Fire 2)

if they do, I bet they use hashcodes kernel lol

Amazon will save updates like that for next Gen kindles and will keep their UI the same and keep it locked to only the amazon app store because that is where they make money. Amazon actually lost money on kindle fires they are sold for 199 though cost like 203 to make

it won't be ICS it'll be a gnarly inbred forked version of whatever.

I don't think so because if they port ICS to the kindle fire,it may hurt the kindle fire 2 sales and anyway I think 3rd party roms are the best and hascode kernel is the best.Who cares about official ICS when you have got gederom and other roms that are better than stock ICS.There ui is not great because it makes the kindle fire feel like a kindle not a great Android tablet.
Probably not. But if you want ICS, give gedeROM a try.

Is there any way to port ROMs from devices such as Nexus devices?? (disregarding screen density issues)
I think it's time to try porting new operating systems to our device such as Mozilla Boot to Gecko project (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Firefox_OS/Porting) and Titazen (https://www.tizen.org). What do you think?? :silly:
This might help some: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32080012

Thanks for the reply. I came across that thread but it seems we need to have at least one compiled ROM for our device from the same OS for that to work. Isn't it?
Quite a few use TWA_priv's as a base

kindle fire hd have better quality and it is better made, but the google nexus 7 is faster. but i love my kindle, with my tweaks and the exellent kinology rom is great!
Not sure what to say since (ACCORDING TO HIS PREVIOUS POSTS) the OP has both devices. So..... He would be in the best position to tell others.
Not sure why the question was asked, unless the op is trolling.

?? better for...
Would it be possible to port the stock ROM from the Kindle Fire 2nd Gen to the 1st gen kindle fire? Honestly there's not much difference between the two.. Just upgraded hardware.

I've been thinking that. Why not ask ichigo? He is good at porting and has a kf2.

We've had a discussion about this already. Due to hardware issues and other incompatibility issues, it has long been determined its completely unsafe and impossiable to get the Stock KF2 OS in the KF1.

Nope. Not impossible. Just not worth the time.

I believe I misspelled the word impossible. I knew I post like this would pop up, so I had to write it like that.

I'm thinking of buying Real Racing 2 Kindle Fire Edition from the Amazon Appstore, but does anyone know if it works with Kindle Fires running CM11? I'm currently using a non Kindle-Fire version and it runs fine, but I'm wondering if the Kindle Fire version will run smoother.
Thanks!
If the app is designated as Kindle Fire Edition, it won't if your Kindle Fire is using a different ROM. ☺

Thanks. That's what I was guessing, but wanted to make sure before purchasing.

How did I install CM11? There are lots of CM11 ROMs available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire/development
Or are you asking how did I install RR2 on CM11? I side-loaded the game APK (not the Kindle Fire version). Runs quite well!
