Hi Everyone,
I wanted to find out oif any LUMIA 900 users in BELL are able to see LTE.
I bought the LUMIA 900 from ROGERS Friday afternoon and Saturday I paid 16$ to unlock code.
I went to bell and change the SIM card to be LTE supported. (I had a iPhone 3GS)
I successfully unlocked the phone an put the new card in,BUT I RARELY see LTE.
I mostly (95%) see 3G and YES I looked at the BELL LTE Map in their website. Even though I am currently located (work) within the area I never see LTE.
I called BELL Canada and they havent been able to give me much information.
Setting on my phone are:
Active Network: Bell
Data Connection: ON
Data Roaming Option: Roam
Hieghest Connection Speed: 4G
Network Selection: Automatic
APN: pda.bell.ca
User Name : Left empty
PAssword: Left Empty
Proxy Server: Left Empty
Proxy Port: LEft Empty
Any other Lumia Users with Bell Canada???
Your help is much appreciated.
You must call
Hi,
I had a similar problem with my Ipad 4G but i found the solution. You must call bell at *611 and get thru to tech support! Once you are thru tell them that you have an LTE capable phone and get them to add LTE Provisioning to your account. After they do that restart your phone and LTE should work. (It may take a while to connect to the LTE network)

Bell LTE is crap. Alot of areas marked on the coverage map for LTE dont work. Travel around the city and see if it works in other areas. For example, Keele and Steeles area in Toronto (not sure where you are) is LTE and I get my LTE signal there. If you still dont then try the above post.
Similar situation here with Telus sim. I get LTE but much more often phone sticks to 4G. In most cases i see only one bar signal. There however have been places where I get 2 or even 3 bars (woodbine and hwy7) only once I have seen 5 full bars of LTE - in the Weston Rd & HWY7 area.
I haven't called Telus about provisioning, all I did is to swap my SIM for a V3 LTE one.
What website did you use to unlock your Rogers Lumia? Thanks.

Was yours Rogers too or AT&T?
Similiar situation here. Except I'm using the Titan 2 unlocked on Telus. They share the same networks at Bell from my understanding and same for LTE. I popped in my LTE enabled sim and so far I have yet to see LTE appear on my screen. I live 3 min Yonge/Dundas and work at Yonge/King and have never once seen LTE appear. You'd think being in the heart of the city you'd have LTE 95% of the time but so far nothing.
I tested download speeds and so far best I was able to get from Telus was about 5mb/sec. Not this 21mb/sec that LTE promises. Even on wi-fi at home with the top Rogers high speed plan I only got 9mb/sec.
Did you get the LTE provisioning?

Hey Pistol44,
The same thing I said above should apply to you! In most cases just getting an LTE sim card is not enough. You must also get you carrier Bell/Telus/Rogers to add LTE provisioning. I work for a company that sells Cell Phones on all the canadian carriers and I see issues like this all the time. A quick call to tech support should fix this!

I haven't called them for any provisioning. I get LTE on the Lumia but seldom and almost always 1 bar only. Interestingly the same sim placed in unlocked Sierra Wireless AC754, LTE holds consistently. Still 1 bar, but stays.

Thanks for the info and I did follow the suggestion. I spoke to Telus support and had a lady guessing all kinds of things for me. Clearly she wasn't familiar with Windows Phones in general. She had me try adding an invalid APN, then turning data on and off. She claimed there was nothing to provision on her end. Eventually I gave up with her and tried a hard reset. But still nothing. I edited my APN last night to isp.telus.com (only added the "i"). No change.
Then by some type of black magic LTE showed up today while I was at work and it stayed on my phone for about 2-3 hours even after I left the office. Well now I'm back at the office and it's on 4G again. Funny how I can be in the same spot where it's LTE one moment then 4G the next.
She probably did something!

I would not be surprised if she did something. It usually takes 16 to 25 hours for a provisioning profile to start working. Sometime they do call it something else.
I should also mention since then I've been getting LTE to show up about 75% of the time or more now. Sometimes it goes back to 4G and then I do a soft reset and it goes back to LTE in a few min. Not sure why but that fixes it.

I know the ZL (6506) is capable of working with T-Mobile's new LTE network, but my question concerns the IMEI number and your account with T-Mobile. On AT&T, your account has to have an IMEI number that is known and recognized by AT&T so as to enable LTE connectivity. Is this also the case with T-Mobile??

The info or where you got your info is incorrect. you DONT have to have a IMEI number that is known to AT&T to have LTE. I have changed phones prob 20 times since I got my first LTE phone and NEVER had to change it again.
You can be on the LTE data plan and everything work fine on a old dumb edge phone then put the sim card back in an LTE device and it still work fine...
LTE worked fine on a Canda Note 2 and One X
Same here. TMo does not care. I just started using my ZL teo days ago, before that was Nexus 4. Just took the SIM from the N4 and inserted in the ZL. All works!

Hey people, I'm seriously considering picking up a Sony Xperia ZL C6502 Black. I'm aware that it doesnt support LTE on either network, but the price is insanely lowwww! My question is, does anyone know what kind of speeds I can expect to see on TMO and ATT respectively? I'm currently using an ATT Gnote 2 on ST/ATT and I have a Nexus 4 as a backup which I use on the TMO $30/"unlimited" data plan. I only point this out to indicate that I don't get LTE speeds now, which sorta makes it a "You can't miss what you never had" type of deal. I roughly get about 14-17mbs down on either device. Is there any chance I'd enjoy the same with the 6502 on either of these plans??? Any help/insight or even opinions, would be greatly appreciated.
The speeds to expect will be the same as you have now.......

i just received my ZL C6502 today and noticed that the data connection does not work at all. i followed the APN settings on the t-mobile link you gave and still no dice (it does show full bars and H+ as you mentioned and when i switch the SIM to my old G2X its on full HSPA+ speed). i left the house and it was running ok suddenly and streamed netflix, etc. but when i went home it lost the connection again. I'm suspecting that this phone does not really work on t-mo's 1700 AWS even though the box says so and that i only got online outside the house because that area is on the 1900mhz refarm. is there any difference to t-mo's AWS 1700 and regular HSPA 1700mhz?! any insight or help is appreciated!!
I have a 6506 on TMo so I am limited in help. However, someone in my office has a 6502 on TMo and it is working fine. He had trouble until he manually set it. Same case as mine.
Perhaps you have a defective unit? Try removing and reinserting the SIM card. Perhaps a factory reset.
I had mine for almost a month and has been flawless in LTE when in DC and HSPA in Dallas.

The 6502 is the same as 6506 but without lte it should work I don't have 1900 coverage and I'm always on hspa and there's no lte were I'm at either. U need to make sure the apn is set exactly there should not be any values under proxy and port also under apn type have it blank that was the issue with mine those three things had values and was messing up internet. Also there's three different apn you have use. 1. Fast.tmobile.com (Lte), 2. Epc.tmobile.com, 3. Internet2.voicestream.com. Give it a try.

thanks for the help guys. ive gathered all that info earlier and did try the three APNs different combinations / proxy - no proxy, etc to no avail. i'm leaning on faulty hardware or messed up radio. i'll just sleep over it but so far its been disappointing :crying: great phone though...
As a quick update I did literally sleep over it and I'm happily up and running with hspa.. I literally left the phone alone overnight lol. Rooted the fone and all I need is to figure out how to get to recovery to put CWM since pressing vol up at boot is not working and flashboot isnt going either (that's for another post). Moody bastard this ZL is.. Anyway Thanks again!

That's the thing you had an LTE phone AT&T had in their system when your account was provisioned for LTE so you never had a problem after that. For those people that have the ZL as their first LTE phone on AT&T they will have to first get the account setup for LTE using a phone AT&T recognizes on their network.
So basically put the SIM in an AT&T LTE phone, have AT&T provision it for LTE then once that's done you can put it in any other LTE phone and it will work fine

Google starting selling the Nexus 7 LTE in the Google Play store 130909 https://play.google.com/store/devic...cked_T_Mobile_SI?id=nexus_7_32gb_2013_lte_tmo
It comes with 30 days of T-Mobile LTE/HSPA. I confirmed with Google Play support that they are shipping the US version that has LTE bands 13 and 17. This means that in addition to T-Mobile LTE and HSPA, this will do the same on AT&T and also LTE on Verizon.
Google says it does not work with Verizon, but technically, it should. Verizon has a full LTE nationwide coverage on band 13. I am going to try my Verizon sim the day I get this thing. Then I'll be raiding the AT&T store for 30 days of LTE: fastest provider wins.
What are other people's US experiences, what type LTE do you get?
If you go Nexus 7 LTE 〉Settings 〉About Tablet 〉Status, Mobile network type indicates what connection you have, eg. LTE:13.
best test apps:
- Speed Test
- Open Signal
- Sensorly
- SignalCheck Lite
- Firebind (check for blocked ports, shouldn't be any)

In the comments on that video, a couple of people are noting that Verizon stores have refused to supply sim cards and activate Nexus 7 tablets, because "they're not in their system". I think the person that made the video just removed the sim from his phone and it worked. I want to get one of these and add it to my current plan for $10/month and share my current data plan. It's too bad Google and Verizon can't seem to get it together and explain how this works. I'll wait until there are no hoops to jump through. I wonder if the LTE only, no 3G restriction on Verizon is Google's way of forcing Verizon's hand. I don't think they're allowed to refuse a device that operates solely on LTE.

I'm trying to activate one for my buddy on Verizon. It doesn't appear to be Verizon trying to be stubborn about it. It's more about technical limitations. Verizon devices need a serial number and a SIM ID to activate on their LTE network and the Nexus 7 only has a SIM ID that can be used. The serial number isn't recognized in Verizon's system because it's still a GSM device. So thus far, it looks like the method shown of using a SIM that's already activated is the only way of getting this going. Having its own dedicated number is a trickier matter.

Well, that sucks.
As far as I know, Google advertised this as working with Verizon when it was launched. Now they're saying next to nothing about it.
So, if I want to activate this as an add-on tablet at $10/month, I have to buy the Nexus 7, some other used Verizon tablet off ebay, activate it and swap the SIM. I may be incorrect, but I'd bet you couldn't sell off the other tablet and let someone else activate it using this method, unless the SIM isn't attached to the serial number in Verizon's system.
No offense intended, but I believe this is Verizon being stubborn. The tablet obviously functions on their network, but they aren't willing to supply a SIM and simply activate it.
Please let us know if you're successful in getting it activated without swapping a SIM from some other device. I can't be the only one interested in getting this going, but I'm not going to order one until I know it works.
I seem to remember reading that with past devices, others have had success bringing in a tablet that's already active on some other account but without the SIM, and asking for a SIM to activate it.

No offense taken, though let me clarify what I meant in my post by it being a technical limitation.
The serial numbers on the Nexus 7 are for GSM devices (IMEI's starting with 35xxx). Verizon's system does not recognize these serial numbers to work on their network. The system looks for ESN numbers (usually starting with 99000xxx) for a CDMA network, then asks for the ICCID (SIM ID) for the LTE SIM card. The Nexus 7 doesn't have a CDMA radio in it at all, which Verizon's network still needs in a device for it to complete the activation process.
Once activated, that SIM can be moved into another compatible device and work beautifully as Droid Life showed already, but that's not the issue we're having. Your described scenario is what I'm going to try for my buddy this weeked, but I have a feeling it won't work.
I don't think d11dog11's suggestion won't work either A) because the iPad Mini uses a nano SIM (4FF), B) because when the iPad is returned, the system defaults to disconnecting the number that was activated on that device, and C) you'll still get nailed with a restocking fee.
Indeed, this sucks!
LTE Results are in
Here's my download experience from a downtown San Francisco rooftop:
T-Mobile USA LTE:
SpeedTest: 43 ms 8.39 down 1.23 up Mb/s
signal: -104 dBm 36 asu rsrq -9 dB
T-Mobile HSPA:
SpeedTest: 73 ms 9.03 down 0.78 up Mb/s
signal: -104 dBm 35 asu rsrq -8 dB
Verizon Wireless:
SpeedTest: 196 ms 0.481 0.265 Mb/s <<== SUCKS BIG TIME! 2G Speed?
Signal -73 dBm 67 asu -12 dB
Comcast Wi-Fi: 18 ms 27.274 7.880
T-Mobile is on the higher frequency that would give spottier coverage, but they are doing quite alright.
Verizon sucks ass. A year ago everybody but Verizon looked like clowns. Today (starting about six months ago) the clown is Andy MacLeod, CTO of the Verizon Wireless partnership. How could they possibly fail?
San Francisco is the most densely populated area outside Manhattan, and this dude needs to pay attention. If you stay up until 1 am on a weekday, Verizon might give you 8 Mb/s down. The sucky area is not only downtown, as a matter of fact, I don't now of a good area anymore. A year ago it was 18 Mb/s greatness 24/7. There's crazy talk of a high-capacity overlay on band 4, but we got none of that, and one might wonder how this can go on for months on end. I canceled the day I got the Nexus 7 LTE. Nexus 5 will support everyone but Verizon, i'll get that one, too: hello Sprint!
The included T-Mobile SIM is a broadband pass that gives you 30 days/2 GB of HSPA or LTE but no voice.
Sensorly, SignalChecker and Open Signal are not good for speed test, so stick with SpeedTest.

One reason why it's less likely that Sprint will be supported on the same unlocked unit as GSM carriers: Sprint's LTE devices do not store the CDMA subcriber identity on the SIM card like Verizon does. Their Androids tend to have an internal non-removable SIM, and their iPhones have a SIM that only stores the LTE identity. So when two Verizon iPhone users swap SIMs, the phone numbers follow suit completely. When two Sprint iPhone users swap SIMs, the phone numbers remain on the devices but the LTE identities swap which must be confusing for the phone.
Nexus 5 on Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile
The FCC publish on the Nexus 5 (LG D820) removes any doubt of it not being a Sprint phone. It’s a herkulean effort to support all their LTE bands, which I believe nobody has done yet. It quacks like an LG G2 but has a different display size from all other LG 8xx submissions. And then then was the KitKat leak, conveniently 2 days before the FCC published it, where there was an LG logo. Google must start shipping before Christmas, and September plus two months is November.
The likelihood that Google would put out a Sprint-only phone is zero.
The likelihood of Sprint kissing the feet of anyone putting out a Nexus phone on their network is really high.
The rest is engineering.
AT&T didn't work on LTE only HSPA+

That's strange, considering there's an AT&T option on Play Store. You returned the tablet or cancelled the SIM?
You could try ordering from Play Store instead with the bundled AT&T SIM. Maybe that one will be provisioned properly for LTE.

Picked up the new Nexus 7 LTE (2013 edition) and popped in my Verizon micro-SIM. Everything worked great for a few days. Just got a notification in my tray asking me to register my device with the Verizon Network? I clicked the link, it opened my browser and went to some Verizon site, but the page didn't load. I couldn't receive/send any data or even pick up a signal.
When I removed and re-insert the SIM and rebooted the device, it would pick up a cellular signal for a few minutes, then would drop signal.
I put the SIM back in my GS3, it registered with the network and got signal on the phone. I then re-inserted the SIM into the Nexus 7 and have LTE service once again.
Anyone else have this problem?

When the sim card was bought it was used in a vzw note 2 would that effect it cause the vzw note 2 imei number was used to activate the sim. When the sim card was bought it was used in a vzw note 2 would that effect it cause the vzw note 2 imei number was used to activate the sim. All the ready I have done someone said somewhere that the sim is probably not provisioned for lte. Well the point im getting at is I need help in trying to get lte and I know where im at there is lte cause my Co workers are currently on lte.

If you are on a go-phone plan I would be very careful using mobile data. My wife doesn't use her phone much so she has a go-phone plan. I experimented with it some and a couple of apps got updated via mobile and it ate her $$ up in a hurry -- something to the tune of $17 in just a couple of minutes.
Then again there are a couple of different go-phone plans so this might not be the case for yours.

Sorry but h+ is not lte. And according to documents on att.com and other varies websites you can connect to lte with this phone on go phone plans
It is LTE if the rom doesn't have an LTE icon.
And how do you know you are in an LTE area? I'm in a large California city, and I almost never see the LTE icon.
HSPA+ is considered "4G" by ATT, but it is not 4G LTE.
AT&T 4g icon... yaya
At&t stock roms will show 4g icon in the status bar for both HSPA+ and LTE. This is where the confusion starts yay AT&T.
To check to see if you are on LTE I would go to settings / about phone / Status and check the mobile network type. I think this will give you a better indication of the network you are on.
An information app similar to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gdip.android.network may also help.
If you are still not getting LTE with your at&t go phone I would start by checking your apn settings.
I have used a few of at&t mvno's I have had straight talk, at&t-go, and currently prefer(and use) AIO wireless (now re-branded to Cricket). All of at&t mvno's don't even require you to unlock your carrier you can use any at&t phone on their networks.
I hope this clears things up a bit.
I've checked apn settings they are what it should be and in the settings menu it reads hspa+. And where I live and work both have lte. Gettysburg pa is where I live and I work in baltimore,md and people I know all have lte. I called customer service and they could see I was in a lte area and only receiving hspa+. They have a trouble ticket in. I know the icon in the notification bar always shows 4g thats why Ilike to always go off setting/about. Thank you for your help

you need a new sim, you can get LTE with at&t prepaid but if you have an older sim,it wont work. i had a note 1 on postpaid and was only getting h+ until i went to the at&t store and got a newer sim.
some people will try to say there is no lte on at&t prepaid, there is.

My ATT Note 2 has a 4G icon and a 4G LTE icon...

I agree with getting a new sim. Go to a corporate/retail store not a dealer/franchise store, as the corporate will give you a new reprovisioned sim and the dealer will say it won't matter, or charge you.
I just saw the LTE icon for the first time, but I am far away from my home now.
Here is the full cause of the issue after much research (probably an amalgamation of all the information above + some more)
When you pop in your 4G AT&T SIM and give AT&T the new IMEI (SIM1) to update in the database, they cannot 'see' this device as an LTE capable device and cannot activate/provision LTE for this phone, even though the phone supports all the required AT&T LTE Bands.
Arguing with them using logic is futile as even the most technologically adept 'Tech Support' representatives will repetitively claim, ''We can only guarantee LTE service on an AT&T device'' This is why you can only see H+ (HSPA+) on your device.
There are now two ways to proceed: (first make sure your APN settings or correct)
1) Use an older AT&T device (LTE capable), pop your SIM back into this device. Call customer care and ask them to update the IMEI to this older handset. Restart your phone, verify the LTE/4G signal on your notification bar/ confirm with LTE discovery/ (your favourite tool)
Now, take the sim card and re-insert it in your Zenfone 2. You should now see the '4G' icon on your Zenfone.
Note: AT&T will conduct occasional system-wide sweeps to verify if their SIM cards are actually inserted in the device whose IMEI they have registered and if not, they will update the IMEI on their database and you may lose 4G and rollback to HSPA+.
2) WAIT. I've spoken to Asus regarding the issue and this is a known issue to them. I've been told to expect a modem firmware update (no ETA - don't ask me) after which, somehow, this issue should not be a concern and AT&T will be able to provision the Zenfone 2 IMEI as an LTE capable device.
3) Some amazing workaround by a technically adept AT&T representative who can 'force' LTE registration to the device
4) You tell me.
Very informative regarding LTE provisioning on AT&T. In my experience, once they contenders and remove the LTE. a new SIM will need to be used to get back LTE. Even though the account is provisioned for LTE.

AT&T stated they will be offering the ZenFone 2 soon with a contract.
That's crazy! There should be no need for these shenanigans on a GSM carrier. I'm sure the service is leaps better, but I did not have this problem on T-Mobile. I do have a prepaid SIM, so that could make all the difference.
Has to be an issue with certain ZP2's i used an att straightalk sim, and had no issue connecting to LTE at all, i just pop the sim in, searched for networks, registered on att added the straightalk att apns and boom done got full LTE signal on 06610.
Had the same issue with my Nexus 5 originally, a real hassle dealing with support to correct (especially on a corporate account). Currently waiting on ZF2 to arrive, but hoping this is corrected in the latest firmware:
"32. Using HW encode for 4G SKU."

I am tracking this thread and a related thread and wondering if I need to call AT&T and tell them to delete my ZF2's IMEI. I definitely am only showing H+ symbols and when I did a speed tests, uhm, tests definitely reveal I am not getting LTE speeds. AT&T tried to tell me I am seeing H+ symbol because the ZFT is not an AT&T branded product but I didn't really think this was true. H+ is not the worst of the worst and I really would notice it if I had two phones side by side, but I can live with it more or less if I have to, although yes-I want my LTE back if I can get it - the point is that the ZF2 is capable of LTE and I am very much still on an AT&T contract and honoring my contract on a line that has had LTE for at least 2 years or more now. I just merely bought my own phone this time and needed a new SIM card for it as I had nano on the last one. So-would telling AT&T to lose my IMEI and give me a new SIM put LTE on my ZF2? The APN information matches what is already listed so that is of no use-it seems universal to either H+ or LTE.

They need to have an LTE capable AT&T phone first. Then you can switch sim into the ZF2. Had to use my Lumia 635 imei. Unfortunately, once I swith to a non LTE phone, for example, my nexus 4, their system detects it and removes the LTE profile. So, I have to call them again if I want to get LTE on the ZF2.

I have heard that before-hmmm. I would have needed a nano adapter to put the sim from my previous very LTE capable got LTE all the time Lumia phone first and didn't know that ahead of time. But
I did call them and my guess is I am being lied to that they gave me LTE? I now at least can prove it with speed tests and demand that they fix it but how do they do this is at this point

So I got my pixel xl from Google today. It works but I am on T-Mobile and it will not connect to LTE band 4 or 12 which are in my area. I have an ATT SIM for my work which I popped in and it works fine. That said without driving around Atlanta to try to find B2 I cannot tell if it is T-Mobile or the phone. Is anyone else on T-Mobile getting LTE connection at all?
So news today I can connect to LTE. Yesterday when I got the SIM in using *#*#4636#*#* I would get zero reception forcing LTE only. The phone would only connect to UMTS/HSPAP. Today after several restarts and calling T-Mobile and Google support it is now working. Here is what I did.
First Google is saying the update is supposed to affect LTE connecting issues.
Second make sure your SIM is properly registered with your provider. They should elevate the issue to higher tech support to have them look into it. This takes up to 24 hours.
Third go to your dialer do the *#*4636#*#*, go to phone info and change the preferred network type to LTE/UMTS or LTE/WCDMA (I haven't seen a difference between them). (This info is in other threads) Then restart your phone.
The problem seems to be how the phone determines what bands the network provider uses. It defaults to CDMA as the voice connection. For me this meant the phone was always connecting to UMTS only. It seems the firmware has some kind of default setting when it senses an error out the gate. The APN settings and preferred network settings needed to be updated and the phone restarted for it all to work. I now connect to band 4 LTE in my area. I hope this helps others.
I am also getting slow data speeds on my pixel XL connected to t mobile
My XL seems to get pretty consistent LTE service and good speed on T-Mobile.
LTE in Chicago working well.

Google "Pixel LTE band 4 issue"
Weird. I'm getting pretty awesome Band 4 coverage in So. Cal. I also get Band 12 here, but Band 4 is what my phone tends to be connected to, which is fine since it tends to be significantly faster.
I'm in Oklahoma on t mobile getting slow connection compared to my friends. They each have a galaxy s6 edge and get between 70-80 MBs down sitting right next to me. I'm getting 14 MBs down. I just left sprint today for slow connection. Hoping to find a way to get this resolved ASAP.

I only experience the issue in downtown Toronto area and I contacted my carrier, Telus, in Canada. They confirmed that network signal in such area is mainly LTE band 4...
Just an FYI for those with the same issue. Google has asked for my shipping address after contacting them about the issue.

Have you tried swapping SIM cards?
I pulled the sim out of another working TMO iPhone6s and my PIXEL got LTE right away.
Have an update and updated the main post.

Thanks. I changed mine to LTE/WCDMA. Will know how it goes next week.
All seems to be working on my end.
I was having delays in mms being sent. I was using the default APN. About a week ago I changed the APN to the one recommended by T-Mobile. Mms sends instantly now just about. I don't think it's effected much on LTE but I didn't have problems before. Make sure your on the proper APN
I sure hope there isnt a recall..My XL hasnt even shipped yet and im on Tmo
I spoke with a t-mobile rep yesterday who helped me get my issue resolved. My main apn was set up incorrectly. Now I am connected to LTE and not just hspa+. I get generally good speeds most everywhere and I have tower right by my house that must go fairly unused.
